The book presents the basic tools for the design of digital circuits and provides procedures suitable for a variety of digital applications. The easy to use Verilog HDL simulator CD-ROM—Packaged with every book--provides users with an all-in-one environment to learn, write, and test their designs without a lot of overhead. Update includes nine sections on Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL); Material on combinational circuits is reorganized—now covered in one chapter instead of two; New emphasis in the sequential circuits chapters on design with D flip-flops instead of JK and SR flip-flops; Combined material on memory and programmable logic; Digital design in the Register Transfer Level (RTL) is mostly new. Suitable for a variety of digital applications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science fields.
One of the best books you will find in Digital domain..... The topics are explained very clearly, its like reading a story.... the language is good and understandable..
I'm a computer engineer and when I was a freshman in college this was our introductory book. This book covers the aspects of digital design and essential components very well. Not only is the coverage great in this respect, but is very readable. I'm a tech head and, to be honest, I loved reading this book. No qualms about the authors' writing styles. The only issue I had with this book was with the HDL examples. The HDL examples were code with virtually no explanation. In my opinion, this is very useless considering it is an introductory book into the world of digital design and computer engineering. HDL is definitely not this books strong point, but for the fundamental concepts of digital design, it's a great book. I keep my copy on my bookshelf and don't plan on selling it.
Indeed a very easy to read book requiring little to none knowledge on basic algebra and computer science. Probably the best way to be introduced into digital design. Can also be picked up again after a while without a problem. I'd suggest the first three chapter should be read before starting to jump from chapter to chapter depending on what you're interested.
My 5th semester textbook was the Greek translation of the 2nd edition.
I still attribute my good (excellent? solid? that's for other people to judge) grounding and skills on digital logic and circuit design on this book. Still on the bookshelves next to my (home) office desk 25 years later. Not to my mention we actually have two copies in our household.
CSC303:Digital logic design Fall 2011-2012 MoWe 3-4:15 pm
we studied the fourth edition from the book..The contents were really easy and cool but our instructor is always making things hard..His exams were difficult.. we just have completed the first 6 chapters.
It's a very powerful book in digital design and using logical gates to build small circuits such as counters and registers. It has some interesting problems and some tricks which was very interesting.
Wonderful book on the principles of digital electronics and digital circuit design. No wonder it has become the 'Standard Introductory Book' for undergrad schools :)
Clear and into the point. Helped me pass Digital Design course (1st semester) and understand a lot about logic gates, sequential and combinational logic circuits.
Helped me a lot during Logic Classes along with the Verilog Coding parts. It has many good Examples if one needs help with Logic Theory, counters, MCUs Introductions and more.

The handbook for basic digital circuits and logic. I dont remember it getting down to the transistor level but oh well.. thats when the hard part comes in. Enjoy it while it lasts.
