Don’t get married on Christmas Eve, they said.

The holiday will overshadow your special day, they insisted.

Little did they know that a shockingly festive murder would put everything else on hold.

When all signs point to my sometimes friend, sometimes rival, Detective Crenshaw, I’ll need to work fast so that he’s not forced to spend his holiday in the slammer. But in throwing myself feet first into the real crook’s crummy conspiracy, I could be risking so much more than a spoiled day… The future of my forthcoming marriage could very well be on the line too.

Oh, boy… Can Pip and I solve this one in record time so that my fiance's and my perfect day can go off without another major hitch?

This is the 5th book in series. It is Christmas time and Dan ( Danielle) and Like are looking forward to they're wedding Christmas Eve. But another distraction hit. Someone stabbed the glassblower at Kelly in ( A.J. Policeman sister) Creative Designs shop. Will Dani and Pip the Jack Russel ring who did this to him before it ruins a perfectly beautiful day for Dani and Luke.

Crumbling Up Crooks by Emmie Lyn is the fifth A Little Dog Diner tale. Dani MacKenzie is busily rushing around town completing errands for her wedding on Christmas Eve to Luke Sinclair. She enters Creative Designs to pick up the custom wedding bands when she hears glass shattering. Detective AJ Crenshaw stumbles out of the back room clutching half of a glass reindeer that has blood on it and then collapses. Dani finds glass artist Nick North dead in the back room with the other half of the reindeer lodged in his chest. Detective Jane Winter, the towns newest member of the police force, arrives to take charge of the investigation. Unfortunately, AJ and his sister, Kelly are placed at the top of Winter’s suspect list. Dani needs to find Nick’s killer before her plans to get hitched are derailed. Crumbling Up Crooks is not a standalone story. I suggest reading the books in The Little Dog Diner series in order so you can understand the characters and their relationships. I enjoyed the mystery because it was complex with several suspects and good clues. Dani was determined to find the culprit and save AJ as well as her wedding. Dani was active in searching for clues and asking questions. Detective Winter was certainly not going to help Dani (maybe throw her in jail next to AJ). It can be solved before the reveal. Crumbling Up Crooks has a charming ending that will have you smiling. I just loved Pip in the story. I would love to be able to take my dog with me when I go on errands. There are delightful descriptions of knitted items in the book including an adorable doggie sweater. Crumbling Up Crooks is a lighthearted cozy mystery with a prancing pooch, cozy knitwear, a determined detective, glittering glass and a waylaid wedding.

It's a week to go before Dani and Luke's wedding and there's still lots to do. Dani agrees to stop by Creative Designs to pick up their wedding rings and quickly wishes she hadn't. Dani hears the noise of crashing glass from the back room but tries to stay out of the way until she hears groaning noises. Dani discovers Detective AJ Crenshaw lying on the floor, with a bump on his head, holding half of a bloodied glass reindeer. The other half is stuck inside Nick North, the glassbowing artist. The new detective in town, Jane Winter, decides to throw her weight around, accusing first Dani and then AJ. With AJ off the case, Maggie is eager to lock horns with Detective Winter but AJ doesn't want Maggie to get caught in Detective Winter's crosshairs so it's up to Dani to conduct the investigation on the sly so she and Luke can be married as planned with ALL their friends present. Meanwhile, Dani learns her estranged mother is coming to the wedding uninvited. Dani is apprehensive about seeing her mother for the first time in a year and whether her mother's drama will overshadow the wedding. She simply MUST find the killer if there is going to be a wedding.

This plot is decent but not as good as the previous book. I figured out whodunit in the middle of the book. I wasn't 100% positive but I was fairly certain. I was glad Pip and the pups took a more active role in the mystery. The wedding drama could have been too much but it isn't and the wedding is lovely. I also loved the Christmastime setting and the craft market. Unfortunately, there are quite a few typos and again, occasionally the author has a difficult time writing in the voice of a millennial.

Dani is a little smarter in her investigation this time. She makes sure she isn't alone with her suspects and she has Pip for protection. This time she actually does put the clues together a hair before it's too late. Luke is a prince among men, busy fixing up Rose's apartment and keeping half an eye on Dani. Maggie is smart enough not to argue with AJ about the investigation but their relationship is in trouble if she doesn't trust him completely. AJ is being stubborn and macho trying to protect his sister. Kelly isn't as sweet and simple as she appears. She can hold her own with her big brother and other tough guys. She loves her business and is protective of it but I don't think she'd commit murder. She thinks her brother might have though, to protect her. I think he certainly has a temper but he's a good cop and knows how to control his anger. AJ is just too overprotective of his sister and they both need to acknowledge that she's an adult capable of taking care of herself. I don't like the way Kelly casually mentions her dog but never says their name or cleans up behind the shop. How come Dani and Pip have never met this mysterious dog if the gallery is across the street? Lily is back in the story baking up delicious treats for the holiday craft open house and Dani's wedding. She's a good friend to Dani but I don't think Dani is a good friend to Lily. It continually takes other people to tell Dani that something's going on with Lily and Dani never follows through.

Rose is wise, loving and fun as always. She's careful to let Dani handle her own life while impressing upon Dani that Dani is an adult and doesn't need her grandmother in her hair after she's married. I like the way Rose handles the Mama drama. Dani's mom, Valerie, sounds like a self-centered drama queen. She doesn't like small town life and doesn't understand why anyone would. While I agree that Dani should travel and see the world, she can do that after she marries Luke and Dani is an adult and doesn't need her mom butting into her life after all this time. If Luke wasn't such a great guy, I'd say her mother had a case to try to call of the wedding, but Valerie just doesn't like him because of his occupation and ties to Misty Harbor and Blueberry Bay.

Detective Jane Winter is eager to prove herself but not so eager to get to know her new neighbors. She jumps to conclusions and is generally rude to everyone. Jane chooses what is convenient for her and doesn't look beyond that. She needs to get over her ego if she's going to make a home in Misty Harbor. Penny Pratt, owner of a local inn, is quite charming. She's a knitter and crafter who loves to share her creations. Penny seems warm and welcoming but she does like to gossip. She is in a feud with her neighbor, Sadie, who has 5 barking dogs. Sadie is super nosy. She spies on people coming and going from the inn and imagines all kinds of horrible, crazy things about them. According to Penny, Sadie can't control her dogs. I do think it's unfair to have a B&B in the center of town. It's not relaxing and you run into problems with neighbors like that. Also, who has 5 dogs in the center of town even if they are Chihuahuas in a fenced in yard? These two older ladies are also competitive with their crafting and have giant egos about their handicrafts.

Nick North, glassblowing artist (corny name), murder victim, was a terrible person. He was selfish, greedy, vain and a womanizer. Nick also lied a lot. He still didn't deserve to die even though he was so unpleasant. Who killed him? Was it his mentor, Harry Glassman (really? another corny name), who claims Nick stole his work? Harry is a bully with a nasty temper. He's dangerous when angry, especially because he's huge. I don't know how he can be patient enough and delicate enough to blow out such amazing sculptures. Harry is a lazy businessman and so arrogant he won't listen to anyone else's opinions on how to run his business. How he's so successful and well-known, I don't know. Harry is abusive towards his daughter Marion. She's at his beck and call all day and night. He bullies her and doesn't let her do anything. She too has a hasty temper. Marion also lies a lot during the course of the investigation, even leading the investigation in the wrong direction.

Who else might want Nick dead? How about his supposed fiancé? Or one of the other women he may have wronged? There sure do seem to be a lot of people who had good reason to be angry with him. Or did Kelly do it? Is AJ guilty of trying to protect his sister and losing his temper?

I am eager to read the 6th book in the series and see what happens next. I do wish there were recipes. My mouth was watering at Lily's butter cookies!

Which of the reindeer is the killer?

Another cracking read. All centred around Christmas and her forthcoming nuptials. However a dead body might put a dampener on it all.
With the wedding only a couple of days away, the last thing they need is a murder and AJ being arrested for the crime. Okay it did happen at his sister's store/gallery and he did know what his sister and the dead man had been arguing about, but is he really guilty? A consignment of glass blown christmas trees and reindeer, a stabbing with one of the reindeer, a man who played up þo every female he came across that would further his money making schemes, arguments, secret arrangements and a heapful of lies. Then there's the mitten and the doggy poop. Will they clear this up before the wedding and get AJ released? Will she make her peace with the surprise guest at her wedding?

Mayhem, Murder and Christmas deliver a left hook to a festive celebration. Lyn continues to stir up Trouble with a capital T. Crumbling up Crooks mixes humor and heart with a smattering of suspense that will keep emotions close to the edge.

Adorable story. Not getting married on Christmas Eve is one thing, but a murder is too much. The characters and the plot were perfect as always. Loved it.

This was a fun, twisty little mystery. I’d earmarked the villain early on but the author kept me guessing as to whether I was right or if I was barking up the wrong tree. One of the things I appreciate the most is that this series does a really good job of steering away from the pitfalls so many others in the genre fall prey to. Dani’s a world class busybody, but she almost never interferes with local law enforcement doing their job. Keeping them on the straight and narrow is a rather different story thought. She also tends to steer away from unnecessary risks. There are a ton of animal secondary characters and they’re all packed full of personality. I adore the fact that they’re allowed to be the sweet, silly pets they are instead of humans with fur.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher as part of a box set.

Can Dani and Pip solve the murder mystery before their big day? All plans point to a Christmas Eve wedding with AJ doing the honors of officiating at the wedding. But, AJ is arrested for the murder of a shady artist at his sister's art gallery, Creative Designs, and Dani, Pip and all of the crew need to get this solved ASAP.

I read the first book in this Little Dog Diner series (and this is Book 5) so I knew the back story of Dani, Lily and Luke, but there are a whole variety of new characters that must have been introduced in Books 2-4 - I can't wait to catch up and see where they came into the story.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and I really enjoyed catching up with these characters.

You are planning your holiday wedding and on the way to pick up your rings, you stumble onto a murder. What do you do? You help solve it because people you know are implicated. You and your trusty sidekick cannot let that happen. Hopefully in time for the wedding, too.

If you pay attention, you can solve this mystery. All the clues are there.

I can honestly say that this book can be read all by itself. It is my first with this author and in this series. I had no trouble following the story or the characters. At one point I had to check to see if this was the first in the series (number 5 actually).
Enjoy a fun easy to read and follow story.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

With Christmas Eve approaching, Dani is preparing for her holiday wedding. But things take a turn for the worse when she goes to pick up her wedding rings and discovers a body. Since Detective AJ Crenshaw was there, things are not looking good for him. Can Dani find the real killer in time to save AJ and her wedding?

I'm really enjoying this series and this book is no exception. Well-written with well-rounded characters, whether you like them or not, this book is a fun read. I was captured from the beginning and kept hooked until the end. I'm really looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.

Another delightful book from Emmie Lyn

Dani is counting down the days until her Christmas Eve wedding with Luke. As she arrived to pick up their wedding rings, she discovered AJ passed out from a head injury on the floor of his sister's store and a dead body in the back. After AJ is arrested for the murder, Dani with her loveable sidekick Pip, decide they need to solve this murder as quickly as possible. This series is full of delightful stories, each filled with mysteries and twists and turns to keep you guessing right til the end. Cute humor and always leaves you with a warm feeling of a job well done.

Christmas, Dogs, and Murder

This was a cute Christmas-time story. It’s book five in a series so, if you haven’t read the others, you don’t have all the details on the characters and their connections, but there’s enough information in here to put it all together (mostly). Pip, the dog, is an adorable character who helps Dani solve a murder in the week before her Christmas Eve wedding. I loved that dog doodoo helped lead to the culprit - definitely not a clue you usually see. My only question was - did she ever pick up her rings from Kelly?
Seriously, though, this is a cute cozy (with just a few editing issues) and an enjoyable read.

This is a wonderful story of mystery and delight. Dani Mackenzie is trying to get ready for her December wedding when she walks right into a murder scene. Along with her faithful dog Pip,aJack Russell terrier, they try to crack the case. Luke, her finance, has a blueberry farm in Blue Berry Bay. They live is Misty Harbor on the coast of Maine. This is a series of short stories , each having a murder to solve. I loved the story and I highly recommend reading this book.
I was given a ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Famous last words were “Don’t get married on Christmas Eve’ kept going through Dani’s head in Emmie Lyn’s Crumbling Up Crooks. When Dani, and her faithful Jack Russell companion Pip, went to pick up her wedding rings from Creative Designs and got more than she bargained for. Finding a dead body and a police detective unconscious wasn’t on her to-do list for the wedding. Solving this mystery adds something to her already busy time. Can they solve this problem before the wedding? This is a fun and book you will want to finish to the end!!!

The happiness of Christmas has to compete with a murder, typical for Pip & Dani. Author creativity provides a mystery with a multitude of suspects. Dani has even less assistance this time without police hints to help yet I think she is even more motivated than ever to protect her friends and of course that this will not ruin her wedding. I was enraptured by this intense cozy. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The gang is back trying to solve the latest murder and get AJ off the hook after he is arrested for the crime. The story is well-written with likable characters and held my attention from beginning to end. There are several possible suspects and motives. I had the murderer figured out long before the reveal but it was entertaining watching Dani come to the same conclusion. As usual, Pip is the star of every scene she is in. I've enjoyed this series and look forward to the next book.

Dani wants to solve the mystery before her wedding because she wants her dau to be a happy one. I had the mystery solved before the reveal but enjoyed the way the story was weaved through several suspects with several motives. Worth reading.

Emmie Lyn brings us back to Misty Harbor on Blueberry Bay with a true who done it. We have a dead body with plenty of suspects and very few answers. Not only do we have a murder to solve but we have a wedding to make happen. This book was so much fun to read and sort through the possible murderers. I will admit I did not guess who it was. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

Danielle is about to get married to her fiance, Luke. When she goes to get their rings, she finds a dead body. As she tries to prove her friend AJ is innocent and there is no cloud hanging over their wedding. It is chaos and mayhem, while interviewing all the suspects and trying to get ready for her wedding. This story is just as funny and chaotic as the others in this series. I enjoy coming back and seeing how these characters are getting along.

This story is a clean romance and light-hearted mystery with a prancing pooches, cosy doggy knitwear, a determined detective, glittering glass and a waylaid wedding.

The clues are there early in the telling of the tale but do not detract from the story.

It is interesting enough that you keep reading to figure out how the characters interact, and the guilty party gets caught.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. A fun read!

Nick played/used a lot of peeps, he's not a honest man, business and personal. Secrets are many in this story, many suspects to choose from. Who's the guilty party? Grab your copy to find out and learn if Dani & Luke were able to have their Christmas Eve wedding during Blueberry Bay's investigation with Detective Jane Winter, find out if she really is trying to replace AJ.
There are little hints during the story as to who the killer is, read on.

Dani is finishing up errands before her big day. That is her wedding day! Going to pick up the rings she finds that AJ has been hit from behind and there is the body of Nick North in the back of the shop. Did AJ kill him? Dani? Kelly? Dani and Pip are out to solve this one so she can marry Luke as planned. A fun read!

This book had the best mystery yet. It had so many twists and turns I kept on guessing different people. I did guess the killer but had put it out of my mind by the time it was revealed. There are a lot of Christmas and cold weather vibes in this one with a very happy ending. Now on to the last book in the series! It’s bittersweet. I can’t wait to read it but don’t want my time in Misty Harbor and Sea Breeze to be over. Not to mention I need Pip in my life.

A Cute Christmas Mystery

This is an interesting and well-written cozy, fifth in a series. It’s the first one that I’ve read, but I still managed to keep track of the characters, their stories, and their roles in the town and in this particular story. And, I must admit that, while I suspected that the obvious person wasn’t the killer, I had no idea who it would turn out to be. There were a few minor editorial issues, but nothing that made me want to stop reading.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. A story about Dani and just how a small town comes together to solve a murder. A list of characters but easy to follow along and a page turner. Because of the small town everyone knows everyone else business but is there to help when needed.
