We here at True Nature Wilderness Therapy can vouch wholeheartedly for Kathleen McIntyre and her incredible Nature Reset. In the increasingly digitized, fast-paced, disconnected world we're living in, these pages offer not only support and solace, but a path home to where we've come from.
I won this book on a Goodreads Giveaway and was excited to read more about connecting with nature and nervous system regulations. It's jam packed with various strategies and activities, but there is a lot of similarity between many of them/throughout. It wasn't my favorite activity guide and I would have liked to see more acknowledgement of the indigenous roots of much of this information. Overall an okay read but not as much on nervous system regulation as I'd hoped.
Here's a fun and engaging review based on the information you've provided:

I recently won a copy of Nature Reset and decided to read it alongside a true crime book. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster! I have to say, diving into the peaceful practices in Nature Reset was the perfect antidote to the intense moments of my true crime read.
The book offers a great mix of thoughtful advice and scientific info on how nature can calm our minds and bodies. I'll admit, the science bits were a bit slow for me, but my husband, the science buff, loved those parts! We had some interesting discussions, and I even managed to impress him with some newfound knowledge.
One of my favorite things about Kathleen's approach is how practical it is. She includes handy charts that show you how to incorporate nature into your day, no matter how busy you are. It's amazing how a few simple practices can make such a difference. I’ve started spending more time outside, and I can already feel the benefits.
Overall, Nature Reset has given me some fantastic tools to bring more peace into my life, and I think it could do the same for anyone. If you're looking to add a little calm and a lot of nature into your daily routine, this book is a must-read!
I won this book in a recent giveaway (huge thanks to Goodreads and the author) and am so happy that I did!
This guide is so well written. The author’s approach includes evidence-based practices, charts, and field notes to assist the reader on a healing journey by truly connecting with nature.
I already sing the benefits of spending time in nature each and every day but, this book takes benefits to a new level for me and introduced new ideas and ways to connect with nature to me.
This book will make an excellent gift to yourself or the people in your life who need to feel more grounded.
Many thanks again to the author and Goodreads for my copy of this book. Wish I could give it ten stars.
A set of gentle exercises to do both indoors and out, to restore yourself and reset your nervous system, mind, body, and spirit. Largely, this has to do with mindfulness in and around natural settings or bringing them indoors to where you are: awareness of breath, mindful eating, mindful walking, etc. One practice I especially liked here is "A Conversation with Nature", where you ask nature a question that's been on your mind/heart (I tried asking a tree, the other day, and got a very quick and accurate response)! Interesting. Maybe too woo-woo for some, but I enjoyed it.
The Nature Reset by Kathleen McIntyre is a real treasure! It is packed with relevant information and exercises meant to guide you toward a deeper connection with nature and to help restore your nervous system (something we can ALL benefit from). Practical and beautifully written, this is a book I will be returning to again and again!
When I first started reading the author's description of her anxiety and some of the feelings it leaves her with, I thought... that's me! So, I can definitely relate with the topic and the importance of trying to ground yourself and put yourself in a better mindset.
And while I personally have a hard time getting myself to buy into some of the techniques the author shares, for those that do, this is a well written and practical guide.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Will be purchasing a hard copy, as the resources within are wonderful! Everything from the basics of learning to just be still, to plants one can grow or forage, to basic sleep hygiene.
