This comprehensive compelation draws a correlation between mothers and the cradles because the strength of the tribe was in the women who raised their children to be warriors and future mothers. Since most all tribes are a matriarchal society, the female plays a major role in the daily functions of the tribe. While most historians have minimized the role of the native female in a tribe as being subservient to males, they have failed to note that she was the keeper of the tepee. It was she who decided what was in it and who would live in it. This volume is a tribute to those mothers and their role in the tribe.
