A group of people are left on earth after doomsday, and that raises some questions in Heaven and Hell. The story takes place between three different worlds and every place's challenges. Who is the villain and who is the reason for the chaos? Is God guilty of being the leader?
Did you ever read a book a be like...how the hell did they come up with this? I mean it isn't a totally off the wall story-except IT IS! Why hasn't a story about the days after the end of the world been told this way before now?! I don't want to give anything away-so you enjoy this book as much as I did. I wasn't sure what I was walking into when my partner bought me this book. I don't want you to read this review and feel like they could possibly understand where this story goes or what will happen. You simply cannot. Ammar Al Saffar has brought this fascinating (after) world to life. I absolutely loved how the author wove religion into and out of this tale of heaven and hell. How the all-knowing...well, might not be. Buckle up sweetheart, you are going to enjoy this.
The most original story I have read in a long time. Reading the author’s note at the end made me appreciate it even more, learning that this novel stemmed from a random comment at a writing group. To be able to take that idea and create a new world with interesting characters is a credit to the author’s imagination.
A person’s faith is important but it doesn’t mean that we can’t find humor in religious beliefs. I love that the author wasn’t afraid to ignore taboos around religion.
What kept me from giving 5 stars is just wanting to know more. More about the world created for this story and more about the characters. There were people and places that have so much potential and depth and I hope that one day, more books are coming to become part of this universe. I would definitely read this again and I’m sure I’ll keep finding new things and details each time.
