Deadly is the Throne

Rate this book
Two friends. Two worlds. One shared fate.

Shea never imagined she would end up in a medieval realm, imprisoned and haunted by the horrors of war. She discovers a strength she never knew she had as she struggles to escape the prince's rule and avoid becoming a pawn in his destructive game. With danger lurking around every corner, she must trust herself to do what is right, even if it terrifies her.

Meanwhile, Olyenn struggles to adjust to life back in the modern world. He must navigate a trial and survive his increasingly hostile hometown after being falsely accused of Shea's murder. With his life on the line, he needs to take risks and make difficult decisions in order to clear his name before it's too late.

Shea and Olyenn try to save themselves and those they care about as they navigate tense situations and the fragile social politics of their respective worlds. But when they uncover shocking secrets and face impossible challenges, they begin to question if their efforts are truly worth it. For the truth may be too unbelievable for anyone to accept.

so much to say and yet i can’t find the words?! this series has truly changed my life in the sense that i wouldn’t touch a fantasy book until i read the first one - heavy is the crown. going into this book i did a reread of heavy is the crown which only solidified my 5 star rating of that book and made me even more invested, enthralled, and in love with the characters and the world. i lost track of how many times i cried while reading this book. i genuinely had a moment of shock halfway through, coming to the realization that they aren’t real and i wasn’t watching this happen with my eyes, its words on a page. a book hasn’t made me feel this much in so so long. lindsay jais writing in these books is extremely captivating, these characters feel like my best friends, like my family. i feel their pain like it’s my own. the world feels like home. i feel like i’ve been living there with them. and as heartbreaking as this book was to me in some ways it also felt like a warm hug, it felt like it wrapped around me and warmed me from the outside in. i can’t describe how much i love them.

read them if u haven’t already.

This book is 4.5. It felt a little rough and jumbled at times, but the last 1/3 of this book is phenomenal. I really enjoy this series. Can’t wait for book 3!
