PAST OR FUTURE, LET THEM BE Time Photo Studio is a small photography shop tucked in a quiet corner of a modern metropolis. This seemingly abandoned place is run by two friends Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang who use superpowers to enter photos to fulfil their clients' requests. But their time agent missions don't always go as planned...
3.5 stars. Stories interesting if a little confusing starting off. I’m really disappointed in the picture quality. It’s almost slightly blurry. Not crisp and clear. I’ve seen way better color print quality.
5 ✨ my biggest flex will always be that i got the first versions of the Link Click manhua in print! honestly, if you’ve never watched this donghua DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO WATCH IT! i’ve read/watched at least 200+ series of manga, manwha, manhua and anime combined and Link Click literally stands at the top 10 of my fav lists.
I was a little disappointed because I'd thought there was a manhua with original content - not sure now if I'd imagined that? This one, licensed by new publisher Aloha Comics, is the manhua adaptation of the show. And it's really, really good. I'd still love to see more new stuff with these characters, but it's actually wonderful to have the story in this format. It was a real pleasure to read.
Really solid translation - this is high praise because the first few episodes of the show itself sometimes have pretty wobbly English subtitles. All the dialogue is clear and impactful here, with a few bonus notes about context. Like the name of the noodle shop from episode 2, which I'd never noticed on my own. It'd changed from its original portmanteau of the two women's names to a play on another popular chain - which was a clear signal that one partner's attitude towards their shared dream had shifted significantly towards profit over the years.
This volume covers the first three episodes: Emma, the noodle shop, and the martial arts love story. All are told really effectively in this format, and were actually more impactful for me in some spots, with the choice of certain panels making you linger over pivotal, emotional moments.
Link Click is one of my absolute favorite shows, and I'm so happy to be able to read it in this way, too. The noodle shop is the gentlest story, but be prepared to cry through all of them, for various reasons: the writers know how to hit emotions the hardest. We've got family, friendship, and love in this volume, although some of those dynamics blend together in interesting ways. Give it a try, if you haven't already. I can't recommend this story enough.
Link Click is one of my favorite Donghua ever, and now I have it in Manhua form!
Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi have powers that allow them to travel back in time simply by looking at a picture. When they high five Cheng Xiaoshi dives into the photo and can live in it as the person who took the photo for 12 hours. But he must remember "Past it future, let them be."
As for if he sticks to that motto, well, let's just say that it doesn't always go to Lu Guang's plan.
I absolutely adore this beautiful art and story. I can't wait to get my hands on more volumes.
This version/volume is technically several episodes of the show transformed into comic form, but I'm using it to represent episodes 0-10 of the spin-off comic which is based on the show but features new stories*.
I am so glad I picked this up!! I've heard so many good things about the donghua, I cannot wait to watch it now (especially with the new season soon). The concept of being able to go back to the past of the moment a picture wad taken is sooo cool!
The premise is interesting, but I do think it's one that's best as an animated show. If I recall correctly, the show came first. If that's true, then this manhua makes sense. By that, I mean, the plot (and thus the panels) are more catered to continual motion. As panels are snapshots of motion, there winds up being a lot of in-between panel movements that aren't captured. The lack of the continual motion between these panels makes it hard for me to stay connected. I'm sorry if this is confusing...
An example: One of the main characters "drops" into another person from a specific point in time. We don't really see that happen. And then there's back and forth between him (within the person, in the past) communicating to his partner (in the present) - and the framework showcasing this isn't ideal for a manhua, but makes sense for a show.
I hope we're on the same page at this point in the review - because I did enjoy the plot, but the framing/paneling muddled things for me. If it were a show first, then I'm sure viewers of the show would follow along just fine. As somebody who never saw the show, I feel like I'm unable to stay in the narrative because I'm trying harder than others to keep up.
Man, as soon as I saw this in Kinokuniya I just KNEW I had to buy it. (I also bought volume 2.) I love the donghua so much and was wondering if there was going to be a manhua adaptation one day. The art is beautiful and the full color pages make everything pop. Chasing Xiaoshi is my baby and he must be protected at all costs!!! I love Lu Guang and Qiao Ling too, but CXS has my whole heart. He just radiates golden retriever energy and I love it. I love him. And it must be so hard for him to go through some of this stuff. It’s a miracle he stays so positive. I just wanna give him a hug 😭
I think Link Click fits really well in this medium. It still manages to convey all of the emotions of the donghua even though I’m so used to hearing voices attached to these scenes. I will say the one thing I missed was hearing king fu grandpa speak in Cantonese. It’s not something you would ever notice unless you were familiar enough with Cantonese and Mandarin to tell them apart, but I like how they tried to differentiate it by changing the font for whenever he spoke to indicate that he was speaking in a different dialect.

I always heard a lot about Link Click, wherever it was the anime or the manhua, and always wanted to give it a try but never got the chance until today.
It was such an interesting story, when you first get into the manhua you’re a bit lost, you don’t know who they are, what they can do, but slowly you starts to understand. It’s very immersive. I loved the storyline where they use pictures to time travel and interact with the past, I had never seen that in a story before.
I’m definitely gonna continue this story and start the anime one day or another !!
Aloha Comics did such a good job with this manhua is gorgeous, the shiny cover make it looks so unique, its hardback and the prints of the panels are very high quality.
Title: Link Click Volume 1 Where I Purchased It: @alohacomics Kickstarter Synopsis: Attached 🕰️ . The RayView: ✨✨✨✨✨ The HeatRay: N/A How It Be Spicin’?: N/A . What a fun and fascinating concept. Time travel detective work wasn’t something I thought I’d be interested in but when I joined the Kickstarter for the other works, I got the added bonus of this story! And yes, I knew about Link Click but it wasn’t something I had personally watched/read before. I enjoyed the manga adaptation so much I hopped onto Crunchyroll and started watching the anime! Still in progress but I am loving it more and more so far!
Read this in Chinese on the BiliBili manhua app. I've been getting bored with studying reading lately, so I figured I ought to change the material. This was harder than my reading grade, and there were some things I definitely missed. But I had split-screened the BiliBili app and my Plecco dictionary so I could look up characters as I needed. Anyway, this was a fun manhua, and I definitely recommend the show.
El queerbaiting is strong with this one.
It's so weird to be reading it without having the sounds and the style of graphic novel is different to what I usually read but I had someone today notice that I was looking at something Link Click related and the way in answered just shows my obsession. I could slapped silly and end up sprawled on the floor and still be happy because of this series.
i still think that scene in the very first chapter/episode where they're both in bed LG (telepathically) rests his hand on CXS's shoulder so he calms down and goes to sleep is one of the gayest shiguang moments DESPITE literally everything else that happens during the series which is already gay as anything can be
