As the title implies, this book is a photo essay, traveling through Oregon. This book was published in 1987, it appears that the photos in this book were taken during the 1980's. This book predates digital cameras, drones and digital photography software. While the technologies which are available to photographers today in 2023 are worlds away from the 35mm film technologies which photographers had been using throughout the second half of the 20th century, the fundamental concepts of what constitutes graceful compositions in terms of interplay between shapes, use of colors and the contrast between light and shadows have not changed. The photos in this book are all quite beautiful. If you enjoy landscape photography, outdoor photography, nature photography or if you enjoy traveling in Oregon or in the Pacific northwest then you will thoroughly enjoy this book. note: that this edition is a 2003 reprint. I've not seen original copies of this book which had been printed during the 1980's. I'm assuming that this 2003 edition is likely identical to the original edition, though the publishing company might have opted to use a slightly different kind of paper when they opted to print this edition- there were kinds of paper which publishing companies could print color photos onto which were available in 2003 which were not yet commercially available back in the 1980's. The newer kinds of paper which publishing companies use for printing coli photos in books retain the quality of the images for longer than the older kinds of paper which publishing companies had used, the newer kinds of photo paper which are commonly used in books now take much longer to begin to fade than the oldest kinds of photo papers which publishing companies had used.
