Second Chance is written for anyone who questions death, is fearful of its existence, curious about its purpose or otherwise searching for its meaning and relationship to life. Suzane explores a deeper understanding of the role of death and illustrates who death is in fact not the end, but rather, a continuation. Through this revealing journey and discovery about death from an expert who speaks with the spirit world on a daily basis, you will re-discover a new and limitless power in releasing fear and embracing the natural, continual process of our spiritual life.
A MEDIUM GIVES HER ANSWERS ABOUT DEATH, THE AFTERLIFE, ETC.
Trance medium Suzane Northrop wrote in the Preface to this 2002 book, “This book is a travel guide, sometimes a detective story, and a how-to manual. It is a book about death and a book about life. I am a medium working with those who have crossed over into the Afterlife… I call those with whom I am in Contact ‘DPs.’ … I no longer question what death is or is not; rather, I deal with all the ramifications of the fact that we don’t die. For many, a session with a medium is a second chance. A chance to say. ‘I’m sorry,’ ‘I love you’ … so that you won’t ever again have to say, ‘If only…’ … It is my hope that what is shared in the pages of this book will help you learn to not be afraid, either for yourself or for those you love who have gone before.” (Pg. xiii-xv)
She continues, “[This book] is written for anyone who is afraid of or uncertain about death. If you can come to believe that death is not the end, you will release unlimited potential within yourself. You will also have conquered your greatest fear. This book is also written for those who have themselves had contact with the SPIRIT WORLD… Now you can know, indisputably, that your experiences are real and valid. It is my desire that the sharing of experiences … in these pages will help you to understand that you do not walk alone.” (Pg. xv)
She acknowledges, “I know there are skeptics. It is not my job of my place to convince you of what I believe---that we do not die. You don’t even have to believe in mediums. You need only have an inquiring mind, open to the possibilities of life. I never intended to become a medium, but here I am. I am now quite certain that mine is a tough, demanding job with perhaps the ultimate in work-place stress. I have spent a lot of time defending my job… Recent discoveries in physics regarding energy and matter have given new credibility to psychic phenomena, to mediumship, and to … belief constructs concerning life’s continuing passages. It is also true that there have been exposes, cold-hearted scams, gullible people, tear-jerking stories in the tabloids, and sensationalism.
“This is why, I suppose, I can’t be ‘chin-out’ determined to convince you [that]… *There is a higher power. *Life is a series of relationships. *Death is a continuation of many of those relationships. *Relationship problems should be worked out here, because they don’t go away… *You are able to work out your problems with the dead even after they have passed on. *You will receive information from the DPs, but not instructions. Guidance, yes; decisions, no. They will not interfere with you path.” (Pg. xv-xvii)
She states, “Those in the next life look at us now, busy in our live, refusing commitment, denying responsibility, throwing off blame like uncomfortable shoes… And as a result, so much goes unhealed. This is something the DPs are reminded of constantly when they ‘cross over.’ To a great extent---not fully, but more often than most of us realize---we are responsible for choosing our parents, or partners, our successes and our failures. Life doesn’t just happen. It is a working script, always in rewrite.” (Pg. 34-35)
She suggests, “There’s always a reason why some DPs show up and others do not. I don’t always know why but I believe that a Higher Power does. In a full séance, the size of the group may be a factor. This is why much of my work is done privately… Often there are circumstances which are still so emotional or difficult that the living cannot handle the presence of the loved one who is now in spirit.” (Pg. 60)
She asserts, “The full pain for the living of losing someone from suicide is incomprehensible. What we don’t realize is that the shock to those who have taken their own life is also very real. Death provides no escape for the. DPs who have committed suicide discover a hard-core truth; you cannot kill yourself. Your essence, your state of mind, and consciousness remain, with full knowledge of why you took your life in the first place, Suicide won’t sold any of the problems, it only eliminates the body as place or means in which to work them out. And the concept of curtailing one’s own life span ‘before the allotted time’ is very real. There is a blueprint.” (Pg. 110)
Before the Q&A chapter, she explains, “I do spend a lot of time answering questions, whether they are asked sarcastically or honestly. What happens when we die? Are we met by loved ones? Is there a Heaven or a Hell? My answers are not ‘mine’---they come from the DPs. And with the dead folks, as with the living, there are no set rules or absolutes. Each answer is individual to each soul, living or dead. The repercussions, consequences or influences from one person’s life-death process may be totally different from another’s. The way in which we pass into the other world, even if under the same e circumstances or illness, will be completely different for each of us.” (Pg.139)
She asserts, “Ghosts are trapped souls. Ghost souls are dead folks who don’t consider themselves dead, who won‘t or can’t accept the fact that they no longer have a body. They are literally trapped between both worlds, that of the living and that of the dead. This is not the same as being in respite. Respite is for souls that are healing in a resting state after a traumatic death or death transition.” (Pg. 158)
Of pets, she says, “we stay in human form and they stay in the particular part of the animal kingdom they belong to… However, if they have become domesticated, then they will often come back (or reincarnate) with the human family member they are connected to.” (Pg. 161)
She states, “Most contacts with the DPs happen through DREAMS. This is not to say that every time we dream of someone in the spirit world it means they are making contact with us but, if they are, it will happen most frequently and easily through our dreams…. I feel strongly about the power of our dreams. Dreams and dream work can greatly help you become more attuned psychically and more sensitive psychologically. With or without DPs, your dreams give you clues for YOU.” (Pg. 213-214)
She concludes, “The DPs bring their messages. Bottom line is we hear what we want to hear. It really comes to the point that we can give somebody a message and they are going to read into it how they want it to read. If they are not ready or willing to hear it, then they will just continue BEING where they are… Someone who does the work I do can only offer you an opportunity to continue to have a relationship. The Communication just happens to be on a different level.” (Pg. 265)
