Kieves takes us on a messy journey, sharing many of her own experiences. She feels personal stories have a much larger impact than lecturing so this is a personal account. She suggests considering this book as a coaching session revealing obstacles to trusting self and then steps to overcome them. Kieves is heavily influenced by A Course in Miracles and relates some of that philosophy here. She also draws from a wide range of faith traditions and practices.

I appreciate the insights Kieves reveals in this book. She identifies obstacles, such as one's inner critic, and provides practices to move beyond the obstacle to listening and then trusting the inner self. The structure of the book is such that each chapter can be read on its own so the topics can be chosen as needed. There is also a good deal of additional resources that can be downloaded upon reaching the book's end.

This is a good book for readers ready to start the ongoing journey of cultivating a trust relationship with your inner self.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

"Learning to Trust Yourself" by Tama Kieves
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Insightful and Encouraging Guide to Self-Trust"

Tama Kieves delivers an inspiring and compassionate book in "Learning to Trust Yourself". She blends personal anecdotes, practical wisdom, and deep encouragement to help readers overcome self-doubt and embrace their inner guidance. Her writing is warm and engaging, making complex emotional challenges feel approachable.

One of the book’s greatest strengths is its ability to reassure readers that uncertainty is normal and that trusting oneself is a journey, not a destination. Kieves offers actionable insights that feel both realistic and uplifting.

The only reason I’m giving it four instead of five stars is that some sections felt slightly repetitive, and I wished for more structured exercises to apply the concepts in a tangible way. However, overall, this book is a valuable resource for anyone looking to build confidence in their own intuition and decisions.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone on a path of self-discovery! #book #books #selfhelp #selfhelpbooks #goodreads #goodreadsgiveaway #bookworm #booksworthreading #read #ARC #advancereaderscopy #reader #reading #Trust #booklover #bookstagram #bookstoread #booklifestyle #bookishlife #booknow #readinggoals #newrelease #newreleasebooks #newreads

As someone who is a constant worrier and overthinker, “Learning to Trust Yourself: Breaking Through the Blocks That Hold You Back” stood out to me as I’m always looking for actionable tips to get back into the world fully. I’ve had terrible post-C19 anxiety, on top of dealing with numerous life changes, and I thought it would be the perfect read to meet me where I was at. I would say this book is empowering, approachable, and friendly, and I look forward to incorporating some of the methods presented in my self-care practices.

The way Kieves speaks about listening to and centering ourselves is refreshing while making you feel like you’re not alone in this. The guiding and empathetic hand in the book leads to trust that the methods included will help build resilience and that my inner voice is sometimes there to help and guide (not only drive me crazy with what-ifs). I would recommend this book no matter where on the mental health spectrum you lie as there is so much useful information, anyone can take away something.

Thank you to #NetGalley for a review copy of #LearningToTrustYourself. All feedback is my unbiased opinion, not paid, and simply for the love of books.

Life-Altering!

I just finished Learning to Trust Yourself, and wow, Tama Kieves, you have outdone yourself, my dear! This book is a testament to the old adage, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." It is the answer to my prayers, a guide that spoke directly to my soul.

Kieves masterfully blends wisdom, personal anecdotes, and transformative exercises to help readers break free from self-doubt and lean into their own inner guidance. She challenges us to stop seeking external validation and instead develop a deep, unwavering belief in ourselves. Through “self-trust-isms”, “kickstarts”, and practical “practices,” this book provides the tools to rewire our thinking, listen to our inner voice, and make confident, authentic choices. One of the most powerful takeaways for me was learning how to embrace uncertainty—not as a sign of failure, but as a doorway to possibility.

Spoiler alert: This isn’t just a book; it’s a **workbook** designed for transformation. If you’re ready to silence self-doubt, trust your instincts, and live the life you were meant for, grab your copy TODAY!

Imposter syndrome is a term that I hear more and more often now in my therapy practice. Many struggle to believe in themselves and desire to trust themselves and their abilities more. When I went looking for resources to share I came across the book by Kieves and I found it to be very helpful in validating ones experiences and giving a practical application in how to learn and put into practice trusting yourself.

Kieves serves with her words to encourage self discovery and leaning into ones own talents, thoughts, and experiences to navigate life's challenges and develop a knowing that you can handle what comes your way.

If you are looking to develop trust and confidence in self, I would highly recommend this book.

As someone who never reads self-help books, I think this was a decent first pick. I think the book mainly discusses the author’s personal experiences, which is quite educational and easy to relate to. I think this book is perfect for those seeking relatable perspectives/understanding (likemindedness). I definitely related to a lot of her experiences while there were many in which I gained value from.

Learning about others’ perspectives on challenges is imperative as it helps us grow & this book does a great job of exploring not only the author’s perspective but her understanding of others (like family/friends/partner) perspectives.

I haven’t read a self help book before, but I won this in a goodreads giveaway so I figured it was divine timing.

There were definitely some good takeaways for me, my copy has been tabbed as evidence. I’m sure I’ll go back and revisit some of the practice work at the end of the sections as there were some questions/activities that really made me look at my way of thinking, and I would like to dive deeper into them. I feel this book has been the final push to get me to start to keep a journal and be more present and reflective in my life.

I thought this was a very motivating and encouraging title! Each chapter offers several sections, The Practice, Self-Trust Inquiry, and Self-Trust-Isms, the latter providing information for readers to delve deeper into the principals set forward in The Practice section. Finally, there are free resources available in a Mega Pack, a companion to the book. For anyone looking to live the best life possible, this is a great tool.

Some very useful and sensible reminders in here, certainly, and I could relate to a lot of it. Helpful tips and practices to counter negative thinking and the "prison of thought." Enjoyed it overall, though it is repetitive with other books that have been written in a similar vein, notably "Learned Optimism" by Seligman, and that book probably has more academic research behind it. The concepts here are also very similar to "Taming Your Gremlin" by Carson. Tolle is mentioned various times and "The Power of Now" is obviously an influence on Kieves' ideas. The writing can be a bit cheesy/highfalutin in parts but it is mostly well-intentioned. I agree with Kieves that self-acceptance is healthier than self-comparison and I should probably work on more self-acceptance.

Won in a Goodreads giveaway.
