Boulder Beaumonts #2

Never Let Me Go

Rate this book

Billionaire. Adrenaline junkie. Risk taker.

Except when it comes to his heart. That, Theo Beaumont has never put on the line. Until he meets her. Rachel. The woman who touches something dark and needy in his guilt-ridden soul. She brings a forgotten sense of peace with every longing touch. But even her love may not be enough to save him from the one mistake he can never forgive himself for.

Competitive skier. Dutiful daughter. Fraud.

At least, that’s what she feels like these days. Nothing prepared her for going from Rachel Long, world champion, to underdog struggling toward a comeback. And nothing can get in the way, not even him. Theo. The man who makes her yearn for things she won’t admit, even to herself. He calls to her wary heart even as he threatens her most closely guarded secret.

Life. Death. Balanced on a razor’s edge. Altered in the shiver of a heartbeat. Overcoming the darkness of tragedy will either break them, or show them that some things are worth fighting for—even if what you’re fighting is yourself.

Nika Rhone spent her childhood wearing out library cards as she read her way through the extraordinary worlds far beyond her small hometown on Long Island, NY. By her teens, her imagination was taking her places all on its own, forcing her to learn how to type (badly) so she could get all the stories down on paper. After a long love affair with science fiction and fantasy, she finally discovered romance, fell head-over-heels, and now spends her days crafting happily-ever-afters for the characters who still tell their stories faster (and better) than she can type them.

Rachel meets Theo when a snowboarder knocks her over, then blames her, as though she can see behind her!!! Fortunately she's not re-injured her leg which she damaged in a bad accident over a year ago.
Theo stays with her and turns up the next day to invite her for lunch, the chemistry is electric but they are both hiding secrets, can they help each other?
Theo's best friend died while climbing an easy climb, he feels guilty because he didn't go when his friend called to ask him to join him, would the accident have happened if he'd been there? When he's with Rachel he feels calmer and doesn't have the need for dangerous activities, he can be himself with her, if a little overprotective!
Rachel isn't sure she wants to get back onto the circuit of practising, training, travelling and generally not being at home, she can't even ski down the run where she injured herself, her subconscious wont let her. Can she trust Theo with her secret? She feels real with him. Loved her hippy friend Ari!

This was such a cute yet steamy book.

It feels like it is something that could actually happen, which I adore.

The characters were well written, and even the side characters were very fleshed out.

This is my first book from Nika Rhone, but it definitely won't be my last!

Never Let Me Go is the kind of story that stays with you. Rachel and Theo are both nursing psychological wounds while they struggle with personal demons and complex family dynamics. Ms. Rhone skillfully crafts their journey to mutual trust and love. I have inhaled every one of Nika Rhone’s books and can’t wait for the next one.

Never let me go by Nika Rhone

I would rate this book 4.5/5⭐

The story is a steamy romance involving Theo Beaumont (our main MMC) and Rachel Long (our main FMC). The two meet after Rachel collides on the slopes and Theo is a perfect attentive bystander making sure she's not injured and escorts her down the rest of the slopes. From the moment that they see each other sparks are flying, and they can’t get each other out of their minds. Both characters are struggling with their own personal demons, will they be able to get around outside factors and allow themselves to have what they truly want out of life?

This is my first novel by Nika and I will absolutely be reading more by this Author.

I adored the MMC, Theo is everything I want in a book boyfriend. He’s got a mysterious background that slowly gets revealed and it’s absolutely heart retching. The amount of time I found myself tearing up, or straight up crying about something in this characters past was probably over the top. But I loved every minute of it.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about Rachel, she appears to be a chronic people pleaser. She’s really hung up on values and rules she was given by a child when she was 8, it’s been twenty years and she’s still hung up on these things. I completely get it, and I can sympathize with her, however I did get a little annoyed when it started to cause problems in her adult life.

I thought the pace of the novel was perfect, the build was great, and it allowed time for their relationship to build, while exploring their lives outside of each other and found solutions to the outside problems both characters where having.

The only thing I didn’t like was how quickly the ending came, while enjoyed the final chapter I bawled my eyes out, but when I started to do math, I found it how quickly the couple was progressing.

Overall, I loved this book. It was well written, the plot was great, and the characters were flawed but equally perfect for each other. It was emotional and swoon worthy. One of my best reads of the year so far.

I had the opportunity to read ARCs of the first two Boulder Beaumont books back to back, and I'm glad I took it. I liked book 1, and I liked this book—book 2—even more.

We met Theo in Rick and Amber's book. The middle son, he was presented as a finance guy by day and adrenaline junkie the rest of the time. In this book, he's more subdued, but for good reason. Struggling to deal with a loss, he's been unable get back to one of his favorite sports. (I'm being intentionally vague to avoid spoilers.)

Enter Rachel, world-class skier with struggles of her own. She clicks with Theo immediately. As their relationship heats up, their respective issues come to a head. It's a romance, so I expected a positive result. I just wasn't sure how it would happen.

Theo and Rachel have incredible chemistry, and their sexy times are pretty graphic. Their obvious affection for one another comes through, however. That said, I felt a little voyeuristic reading this scenes.

I was mostly okay with how things ended up, though a few things seemed unresolved to me. Or at least I would have gotten to the result following a slightly different path than the author took. That said, the end was probably more honest and realistic.

As I said at the beginning, this book is part of a series. It reads fine as a standalone, however. Even though the previous book's protagonists appear, nothing in book 1 is critical for understanding the content here in book 2. The only Beaumont sister met her match in the previous series by the author. I didn't read that series, but it seems that book 3, which is teased at the end, follows the final single Beaumont brother and someone from that series.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the author and BookSirens. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion
Thanks!

A very enjoyable romance between two traumatised souls. 5*
The novel had an unusual storyline, introducing the reader to mountain sports, particularly competitive skiing and rock climbing. Not my world, so it was nice to be introduced to a niche, I knew nothing about. The connection between the protagonists was somewhat slow-burning, which was not surprising since they had both seen enough pain and wanted to protect their hearts. However, Rachel and Theo have a very steamy liaison. With the help of one of Rachel’s dads, some of the emotional obstacles get cleared up enough to give their relationship a little push in the right direction. The novel is well-written and easy-to-read with a HEA, which I am happy to recommend.

I absolutely loved this book! I had the privilege of reading book 1 and 2 back to back, and let me tell you… book 2 is my favourite! The love story between the two main characters really touched my heart. Both had some personal trauma to come to terms with, which brings a ‘real-life’ feel to this novel! This book is both endearing and steamy. I know there is one more Boulder Beaumonts book coming this fall, and I cannot wait to read it! Thank you, Nika Rhone, for creating a beautiful world for us to escape to! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The story of Rachel and Theo feels real. You have the backdrop of the mean girl and good friends. But what gets you is the emotion. Both Rachel and Theo have emotional baggage. Apart they both blow in the wind. Together they form a lean-to of support. You feel the pain both lead characters go through. You feel their ache. Never Let Me Go, deals with some heavy emotional subjects in an incredibly human way. Worth the read!

This is the second book in the Boulder Beaumonts series. Once I started reading this book I didn't want to put it down. The characters (Rachel and Theo) are great and the storyline hooked me from the start. Please read the book blurb for some information about the book. I don't like putting details in reviews as I don't want to spoil the book for anyone. I highly recommend reading this book!

coping
Theo and Rachel´s daredevil ways are their coping strategy for dealing with the scars on their souls, but it takes so much more courage to let down your guard and let somebody in than pulling off stunts and I was happy for them when they found support, trust and love in each other.

What a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and wasn’t ready for it to end. It was well written, a great storyline, good strong characters, a sexy love story, all the feels you want. I’ve never read this author before but I will read the rest of this series and others she has written.

Loved this book as much if not more than the first in the series. This book has written raw emotions, main characters who come together at the right time to heal together, as well as some great steamy moments. I really enjoy the writing style of Nika Rhone and am looking forward to more.

After reading this book, now I realized that I want to read Lilian’s and Rafe’s book. Anyway it was a chaotic book Rachel and Theo both of them have a lot traumas their relationship was about trusting each other. It was beautiful but also so sad how each of them struggled with their own story and feelings. There was a time where I couldn’t stand Rachel maybe because I didn’t connect with the character so much, but eventually I liked her. 4.5⭐️
I already want to read about Peter.🫶🏼
