This was so very refreshing. In a sea of wannabe Alphas living in the paranormal verse, I honesty believe that Penelope locked onto the formula. You see, when you have anything that is a 'beast' under the skin, I feel that it should behave as the title. Like a beast. He should be dominant, alpha, and unrelenting. He is fiercely loyal and will protect his woman even if it means his death.
Penelope gives me that in this first installment of the Wild Discipline Series.
Not only is this 'shifter' story totally original just like her vampire world, but it is engaging. She took a common threat to the female population and gave it a story filled with passion, violence, and a richness that frankly shocked me in a short story. I was sucked in by all the characters and I LOVED the anti-hero in this story. I can't really call him a 'hero' because he is bad so to speak. He doesn't want to be but he's not mellow dramatic about the whole thing.
He is fierce, raw, and holy crap, talk about dominating. If you are looking for proper Alpha males, I highly recommend Penelope. Don't worry about word count, it is silly, and your paying for a pretty dang good story.

Hot, Rough and Hard!
Well it isn’t called an urban jungle for nothing, and this story doesn’t shy away from the violence as well as embrace the sex. Our heroine is sharp, hardworking girl, and our hero, well it’s not a werewolf story for nothing! This one prowls the city night like a vigilante, and stalks the heroine he rescued with a relentless fervor. He doesn’t get hairy, but he’s definitely a wolf when the moon rises.
The hot stuff is very hot, and just a little scary as good BDSM should be. Yyou just know these two have connected and are going to take it as far as it goes. There’s no fetish gear here, just old-fashioned ropes served up al fresco. It’s good, rough, and hard, and just the way I like it!
