Accidentally In Love with my Best Friend's Brother

Rate this book
This is a kisses only, sweet romance.

My best friend’s annoying brother, some spilled tea, and a crazy proposition.

Josh Owen’s is the top receiver in the NFL, with a bad boy reputation. He’s click bait fodder for any, and all, gossip columns.

A released video shows us “kissing”, and the news is spreading like wildfire.
Now me, "good girl" Brie, is in the rumor mills with him.

His agent sees this as a golden opportunity for Josh to get on better terms with his team.
I think it’s crazy, but Josh needs help.

In spite of our love-hate relationship, I agree to be his “girlfriend”.

Spending time with him, I get to know the real person, not just the one who’s constantly pushing my buttons.

I can’t deny that I don’t hate him.
In fact, I like him.
A lot.

As fake kisses feel more real, Josh brings up making "us" a reality.

Only one problem.
When my parents died, my heart went on lock down.

Can the bane of my existence be the one who’s had the key all along?

This is a sweet, kisses only, best friend's brother, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, slow burn, and happily ever after. Let yourself get swept up with Josh and Brie! I hope you fall in love with the two of them and are left wanting more! This book is a standalone.

This book was so sweet!

I absolutely loved both the MCs! I loved how they were both easy going, fun loving, and could just laugh with each other.

I loved that they had truly grown up together from kindergarten to now early adulthood and knew each other super well.

I loved that they were thrown into a fake dating scenario to help convince themselves that they had been in love forever and that they just needed to see what everyone else had been seeing.

I loved the quirky Tea Time gossip column and the small town feel.

I loved Susie who is Josh's sister and Brie's best friend. She was the perfect side kick to their relationship.

If you want a sweet Best Friend's Brother book give this one a go!

What in the small town fuckery is this lmao. Why was everyone absolutely invested in their relationship. It was entertaining though. This had by no means good writing and referring to Brie and Josh as the first and second half or brioche got old really quick, but there is a time and place for this book if you want a quick chill romance. It’s relatively fast paced and not that boring but it does get pretty repetitive and the third act break up is a little silly to me lol. Also the random mentioning of Brie’s parents being dead was always so sudden and jarring that it was funny and there was a little bit of possessiveness by Josh that did seem to borderline red flag or even patriarchal. Even Brie refers to it as ‘male ownership’ which isn’t a good sign. Everything else was just a good laugh with one of my favorite lines being ‘you’ve got it bad for little miss cheese’ which is just so funny. Anyways this book would be good if you want to turn off your brain for a few hours.

Thanks NetGalley for the arc.

First thought: The tropes on this were an insta YES for me going in and this book did not disappoint one bit. I absolutely loved this one. It’s jammed pack full of banter, cuteness, omg comments and the most adorable small town Gossip Girl vibes. It is a fast read and you will definitely binge read it in one sitting. Enjoy!

Brie moved in with her Aunt and Uncle after her parents died. The only thing that got her through was her best friend and her brother Josh. Throughout the years Brie and Josh have falling into a sibling like teasing relationship. Now that they are adults they have leveled it up to more witty banter.

Josh is a top NFL receiver. He has known Brie his whole life and he’s protective of her as he is his own sister. She’s a part of his every day life, she comes to his games, he sees her at family events and the live in the same small town. He put Brie in an off limits box a very long time ago and has no interest of going there.

But things for Josh go a bit sideways. He’s been getting more penalties on the field and is starting to get a reputation as a hot head. Then to make it worse he just injured his shoulder and will have to take a few weeks off, this is bad timing as his contract is up with the team.

So after a teasing session with Brie got the attention of the local gossip girl and they went viral being shipped as #BRIOSH his agent convinces him fake dating Brie may help his career. Now he only has to convince her it’s a good idea.

Literally Themes you’ll find:

* Frenemies to Lovers
* Best Friend’s Brother
* Fake Dating
* Teacher vs NFL Star
* Small Town
* Fun Banter
* Gossip Girl Vibes
* Sweet Romance

Title: Accidentally in Love with my Best Friend's Brother by Abby Greyson

Release Date: May, 10th, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

"Accidentally in Love with my Best Friend's Brother" by Abby Greyson is a delightful sweet romance filled with kisses and heartwarming moments.

When Brie's best friend's brother, NFL star Josh Owens, finds himself in a scandal, Brie agrees to pose as his girlfriend to help him out. Despite their love-hate relationship, spending time together reveals the real Josh to Brie, and she starts to develop feelings for him. As fake kisses turn into something more, Josh suggests turning their fake relationship into a real one, but Brie struggles to open up her heart after losing her parents.

This story is a perfect blend of forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, and opposites attract tropes, with a slow-burning romance leading to a happily ever after.

I got swept up in Josh and Brie's journey and fell in love with their story.
I adored both main characters in this book! They were both laid-back, playful, and had such a great chemistry that made it easy to root for them.Josh and Brie's lifelong friendship filled with banter was so enjoyable to witness. Despite everyone around them seeing their obvious attraction, they remained oblivious to their own feelings. The way they teased each other and lit up in each other's presence was absolutely adorable.

This book delivered on all the tropes I love, and it exceeded my expectations. I truly loved every moment of it.

⭐ 3.5

This was a good one, the story of Josh and Brie was sweet, from starting to date falsely until finally confessing that they have feelings for each other.

One thing I liked a lot was that they were friends since they were little, that he, even though he bothered her, was always there for her and she knew that and that’s why she decided to help him when he asked her to pretend they were dating to distract the bad rumors about him, I liked the whole town, also that Tea Time was fun and let’s say I think I know who is behind it jajajaja but yes, this book has a drama almost at the end that made me doubt a little since it was a bit silly if I’m honest, but otherwise it was a good story that reads itself because of how easy and entertaining it is.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

---

The idea of this story was very cute and definitely was something I enjoy reading. However the execution was not done all that well.
We are introduced to the characters in high school where they actively don’t like each other. Josh teases Brianne to get a rise out of her and she detests it. Josh is very protective of the two because they’ve grown up together. His friends joke around with him that it’s something more, but he denies it wholeheartedly.
Then we get a 9 year time jump. I would have loved to see them interact over the years.
Then present time in the story the dynamic is still similar. Then the fake dating starts and all of a sudden they have feelings for each other that they never knew about. Some of the discussions and thoughts of these main characters don’t follow through with what they thought at the beginning of the story.
At the end of the story Brianne is thinking about how she loves that Josh is giving her time to make her decision and putting the decision in her hands. All for him to then show up to woo her. Make it make sense? Does she want to go to him at her own time or does she want him to make the timeline?
Also I know it’s a work of fiction but some of these facts about teaching and then the NFL and how it works was slightly in accurate which drove me crazy.

Accidentally in Love with My Best Friend’s Brother is a sweet, simple, and clean fake dating sports romance. Brie, an elementary school teacher, finds herself fake dating her best friend’s brother, NFL player Josh.

Accidentally in Love with My Best Friend’s Brother was a fast-paced easy read. There was opportunity within this story to add more to the plot; and no, I am not talking about adding spice. The book read to me as more of a novella, instead of a full length book. I would have enjoyed more of a slow burn romance, seeing Brie and Josh long for each other throughout the years rather than a 9 year time jump.

However, if you are looking for a sweet, simple, and clean sports romance, look no further than Accidentally in Love with My Best Friend’s Brother.

this was such a cute book, i found the storyline to be so sweet.

i do think it felt a little short and i feel like i didn’t really connect with the characters - there was a big time jump towards the beginning and i would have liked to get to know the characters a bit more before then to see how their relationship developed over time.

overall it was very sweet, there were so many of my favourite tropes involved (sports romance and fake dating in particular) and it is a very fast-paced read.

thank you so much to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc 🫶🏻

Brie & Josh have picked on each other since they were kids. Later in life, when he is in the NFL, a video gets out that looks like Brie & Josh are "kissing". Josh's agent thinks it would be good for Josh's image if he and Brie fake date. As they spend more time together, will their feelings change?

This was a best friends brother, fake dating, forced proximity clean romance. Its a easy, fast read. There was humor sprinkled throughout that I enjoyed. Josh & Brie had such an easy, laid-back relationship even though they were constantly bantering their whole lives. You can't help but root for them.

Thank you Abby Greyson for this ARC. This is my honest review!

I received an ARC from netgalley in exchange of an honest review. And I also wanna thank the author for this copy of the book:

I liked this book, it was very cute. Josh and Brie have known each other all their lifes and always had a banter relationship. Everyone could see that they liked each other except themselves. The way thry teased the other and they would both light up, it was so adorable. And when they finally confess their feelings, something happens and Brie shuts down. I have to say, it irritated me that she did that. I understand that she had emotional "problems" and it isn't easy to overcome them but I felt so bad for Josh. The poor man loved her so much and she was shutting him out. I loved how he didn't allow her to shut him out completely and kept trying in a slower pace to make her realize they were good together and he wouldn't break her heart. I would have liked to see Brie make more of an effort at the end but it was fine. It was a good book and I'm glad I read it

3.5⭐️ Abby's stories are very tender and sweet, if you like close-door books, it’s a safe option. I liked Tea Time resource that tells the people about the story of #Briosh. The fake dating between Brie and Josh was very well developed, although I felt that it was very quick for them to fall in love later. Cute HEA.

Thanks Abby for sending me an ARC of your book.

This story was such a cute #FakeDating but Not Fake Dating Trope. Watching them easily fall into eachother without even realizing it and using the excuse "I pay attention to all my friends like this" was so cute!
Tea time was such a great addition I absolutely loved all the gossip reports. They were hilarious.

As a teacher, who loves sports and runs out of gas CONSTANTLY (my gas gauge also gets stuck at half) I felt like I was Brie throughout the story which added to my love of it.

Everyone else figuring it out before they did made me laugh so much. They both wanted eachother but had no idea at all. Oh. My. Josh. They are so cute. I just ahhh I love them. The hospital scene tugged my heart strings and I truly hope she got an invite. It also shows how much these type of sport players go through and how huge their hearts are.

So many things happened and it will spoil way too much but I am so glad Josh had so many people on his side. They all trusted and supported him without any doubt.

Tea time was seriously such a cute addition.

My only complaint (which isn't really a complaint just possibly a missed opportunity) was I really thought he was going to use the drawings she made when they were kids during field day. I thought it would have been a beyond cute way to show how much he has always cared. Especially with Johnsons help haha.

I absolutely loved this cute story and I had absolutely no doubt in my mind the Josh was telling the truth but I completely understood her trauma.

Suse is seriously the best friend you could always dream of having. Josh and Suse knowing her so well made my heart feel so full. Every part or this story was cute and showed just how much people care with the little things they do.

This is an amazing sweet story and I am so glad I got to read it!

Thank you @authorabbygreyson for picking me to Arc!

This story is a standalone but definitely opens up the opportunity for spin offs if she wanted to :)

You should definitely go preorder it if you are looking for some sweet to read.

🏈 The vibes:
- dual pov
- Football
- Closed door
- Best friend’s brother
- Sweet romance
- Quick read

🏈 My thoughts:
This was a really quick romcom. I thought Josh and Brie were very sweet together. It very much reminded me of the Cheat Sheet. There were moments where I did feel like the characters were in high school rather than adults. The element of the Gossip Girl type gossip site added to that young feel; and the characters across the board felt a bit young for their age/careers but it was still a cute romance overall.

🏈 I liked Josh and Brie and their characters had a lot of elements that I enjoyed, but I just wished to see a little bit more depth with both of them and their relationship together.

🏈 One element that I couldn’t quite connect with was Josh being a “bad boy” and Brie being a “good girl”. It was expressed a lot that these are the roles of the characters, but I don’t exactly understand why. More so with Brie than Josh - as we did hear that he had a temper on the field but otherwise he seemed like a super chill happy go lucky dude, so I didn’t get the impression of him having a bad reputation. Not a huge deal, it just didn’t fit his overall vibe for me.

🏈 If you’re looking for a sweet, closed door rom com with a friends to lovers feeling in the setting of a drama, gossipy town- you might enjoy this one!

This was such a sweet read!! Josh is Brie's best friend's brother and NFL player...and someone she enjoys bantering with often. When cameras capture an innocent conversation that looks a little more than friendly, it seems like a good way to get him some much needed positive PR... a little fake dating with the good girl! Of course, as we all know as romance readers--- it never stays fake very long! These two were super fun together! While there's a little bit of an enemies to love vibe there, their teasing to me always felt playful... not like true enemies! I absolutely adored how all of their family and friends seemed to meddle into their business (and cheer them on). Having personally lived the best friend's brother trope--- with a supportive friend likewise cheering us on, this felt more real to me than some of the reactions in other stories I've read. They had me smiling throughout the story just as much as the romance did! It was a pretty quick read, but one that I found myself enjoying! If you're looking for a sweet football romance, this is certainly one worth checking out.

Accidentally in Love with My Best Friend's Brother is a closed-door romance with kisses only.

"I am having way too much fun with my best friend's brother, and if I am not careful, I won't want it to stop." -Brie

"Spending all this time with her is making me realize that I may have put her in a permanent friend zone but the crush was always there." -Josh

Abby does it again, it was the perfect romance, if there ever was a thing. Yes, it's a best friends brother again but my goodness, it is nothing like the others. And man oh man the chemistry! Things are not always what they seem. So when Josh is seen "kissing" Brie his agent says to use it to put his fame in a more positive light. So, they decide to fake date. Its an interesting idea for two people who's whole life was picking on each other. And it would have been the perfect idea, had they not started to realize what everyone has always seen with them - they like each other. But just how the relationship starts (a video showing them "kissing") it is threatened again when more shows up on the web and this time it isn't Brie that Josh is seen with!!! Can a fake relationship weather the tabloids? Was it really all just for show? Can they just go back to just being friends?... #Briosh

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.75-4/5
Tropes:
🏈 Best friends brother
🏈 Fake Relationship
🏈 Forced Proximity
Josh and Brie’s chemistry was obvious to literally everyone else around them but somehow neither of them got the memo… until tea time makes #Briosh go viral and the fake dating may not be so fake after all.
I loved Brie and Susie’s friendship a lot and admired the way Susie tried to remain objective for Brie when he brother was involved. Josh and his teammates also had a great dynamic and I enjoyed the back and forth and banter between them all.

This was a quick fluffy mood read for me and I enjoyed the banter between the characters the most and if you’re after a “best friends older brother” with a hea and sweet moments instead of spice, you’ll enjoy this book.

I’m not saying we need more Mavericks romances… but I’m not not saying it…

She’s cautious and scared of love because of her childhood and needs someone to be patient enough to convince her that love is worth it. He’s handsome and muscular and famous and knows her better than anyone else.
He’s not just her best friend’s brother, but he’s an older brother by a few years, so he’s got the protective thing going. Also, she joined his life right after she was orphaned from a car accident, so he was extra protective. They have opposites' attract/enemies to lovers' sexual chemistry. All that to say, the fake dating trope never hit so hard.
Then he falls first and he falls harder.
There’s also a Lady Whistledown-type anonymous gossip columnist who is creating small town relationship pressure. And even out of town, people are taking pictures because of his NFL celebrity status.
It was the perfect set up for a sweet and swoon worthy romance. The only thing missing for me was bedroom spice.

This book was so cute. I loved it. Brianne is Josh’s sisters best friend. She moved to live with her aunt and uncle who live next door when her parents tragically died when she was 10. Since then he has been pestering her and protecting her like a sister. They have a cute banter between them very sarcastic and flirty. When the town newsletter hints that these two might be together and gives them a moniker of Briosh things start getting out of their control. Josh’s manager suggests he take advantage of this good attention and that they fake date. Things start to feel real. Are they both willing to take a chance on what could be a great love. This is a clean romance. You can still feel their chemistry and root for them. This book was engaging and I didn’t want it to end. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

***NetGalley sent me this ARC electronically in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.***

This was a super cute short story! I love friends to lovers, especially when it’s the brother’s best friend! I do feel like there was this idea that they were always at each other’s throat but that wasn’t ever obvious. There weren’t scenes where they were at each other’s throats…. Maybe banter or teasing but nothing of that extreme. I also wish we would’ve gotten more of Brie’s struggle with grief and loss because that was her reasoning for not being sure about Josh but we got none of those struggles in the book? Because of that it feels like the watered down version of the whole story and I would’ve loved some more background stuff but overall I loved it!!!

Enemies to Lovers, Football RomCom.
Fake dating. Slow burn. Sweet building tension. Best friends brother.
Josh is an NFL football star and Brianne is down to earth teacher. Brie and Susie are best friends and Josh is Susies brother. Grown up together he’s protective of her and secretly loves her and she loves him but neither are ready to admit that to each other! It’s a delicious build up, I love the little cute moments and tension between them. This book was so well written and it just built perfectly it wasn’t dragged out and ended in the best way! Could not help the smile on my face. Throughly enjoyed this book.

There are many different things that I enjoyed about this book. The first thing is that there is no foul language, which is nice because it doesn't detract from the story. The second thing are the characters. Josh and Brie are hilarious together. They have a long history since Josh's sister is Brie's best friend. Because of a tragedy in her past, Brie is afraid to really let anyone in. When Josh asks Brie to be his fake girlfriend to help his reputation, she is apprehensive at first. The more time they spend together alone, the more real their feelings become. After a misunderstanding threatens their relationship, Josh comes clean about his feelings and pulls out the stops to win her back. I loved the ending of the book and look forward to reading more by this author.

Of course she’s the girl next door. Once again someone falls for someone they know. Not sure how so many stories of best friends and brothers are in the imagination of this writer but unique, interesting and original tales keep falling from her pen. This has a heavy sports element to it without overshadowing the main premise. There is some predictable plots but it’s in the title. It is an entertaining read with a few chuckles and even a couple of tears. Looking forward to the next best friend adventure.

So many favorite tropes...childhood not quite friends but known each other their whole lives, best friends brother, fake dating, verrrry real feelings and family that have been unofficially rooting for them for forever.

This was such a cute read one sitting read. He's an NFL player, she's a teacher. They've been dancing around feelings for probably 25 years and rind themselves in a spot where a fake relationship wouldn't hurt his reputation. With some great team mates, a little lady whistleldown type gossip column, and some very really butterflies, this is a great read and perfect for fans of the cheat sheet!

Accidentally In Love With My Best Friend’s Brother by Abby Greyson will have you cheering from the sidelines for this fake relationship!

Brie has always been around since moving next door to Josh and his sister Susie, she’s like a second annoying little sister to him and she and Josh are always arguing. When Josh needs to improve his playboy reputation to improve his chance of staying with his current NFL team, Brie doesn’t hesitate to jump into a fake relationship with him, especially since she enjoys being around him now that they’re grown and she loves nothing better than to rile him up and vice versa!

This is such a cute story. The fmc has some trust issues from past trauma but slowly evolves. One thing I found so entertaining was Tea Time, I don’t know who was doing it, but it was hilarious to me. I recommend for a clean, fake dating romance with a HEA.
