This is an absolute must if you are a Primerican. If you are not, but you are an American entrepreneur, it will be very helpful. There are key points and techniques to running any business successfully. It will be especially helpful to those business owners or leaders who want to do some things differently and are open to putting others first in order to improve your own business. Keep in mind that a southern man wrote this so his terminologies and dialect will come through. This is one to highlight, mark up and return to again and again. Do not read through this too quickly, you will miss the wisdom in the pages.

In the decades since Art sold A. L Williams to CitiGroup, who renamed it Primerica, the company has grown and changed. There are many things in this volume that no longer apply.

But there is so much that does, every Primerican should buy this book and read it devotionally. We each should read at least some of it every day. The fastest growing of our agents say they have their record success from reading The A. L. Williams Way every day and applying it to their business.

Art built A. L. Williams for amateur part-timers, people already making a living, but who “have a burning desire to be somebody.” He built A. L. Williams on the “best friends” basis. The agent (he calls them “greenies”) takes her trainer (upline) to meet her best friends. They go in the back door and sit together at the kitchen table. There the upline explains what we do. There are no applications taken on that first appointment. They go back next week, give the friends a cooling down period. There are no gimmicks, no fancy sales techniques. And the product is simple: “Buy term [life insurance] and invest the difference,” put whatever you save on your old cash value insurance into an IRA.

  A. L. Williams uplines should never give their trainees (downlines) the idea that the trainee (downline) works for the upline. The downline must believe the upline works for him, the downline. And it must be true. The upline must be devoted to training, helping, encouraging, the downline to build her own business.

Art’s philosophy is that God comes first, family second, business third. He encourages spouses to participate as much as they want, calling them not spouses but partners. Many agents rename their business in the name of both spouses. My checks, my certificates, my plaques, for instance, come to “Will and Winnie Thomas”.

The companion volume to this is Art’s business philosophy, Pushing Up People, whose name is self-explanatory. He says to “treat people great,” because if your people ever feel mistreated, you always have to watch your back.

I’ve been a Primerica agent for decades and I am totally sold on the A. L. Williams Way. I consider this company the greatest business opportunity in the world. This book tells how to do it. It has my unqualified recommendation.

Must read for all representatives of Primerica. Explains what, how and why of the business. This book is not educational for anyone outside of Primerica, but may prove to be motivational in nature for those actively building any business.
