Alessa Kelly writes romantic suspense and contemporary romance novels where danger tangles with desire.
When she’s not writing, she’s exploring wild places, snapping photos, or dreaming up her next story. Her books are packed with bold heroines, broody protectors, and a passion that doesn’t know when to quit.
She enjoys the simple things in life, like taking long walks, daydreaming, and bingeing on Nordic noir with cheesy popcorn in hand. She is also a lover of wildlife photography, and will die without a cup of strong, black tea.
Why this talented storyteller isn’t in the Who's Who of romantic suspense is a mystery, because I want to shout from the mountain tops how amazing her writing is. I’m new to this gifted writer, and it’s some of the best suspense combined with romance that I’ve ever read.
Nineteen-year-old Morgan Blackwell is on the run after things at home explode. Tyler Hunt finds her trying to blend in with beach goers at Venice Beach and helps her get to her destination in Washington state. Two years later, still on the run, Morgan finds Tyler retired from his job as a Navy SEAL and working for Red Mark Security in Helena, MT. She knows Tyler is the only one who can help find her younger sister who's been missing since Morgan went on the run.
Buckle in and hold on tight because you’re in for a jaw-dropping, breath-taking, adrenaline-fueled ride! The writing is so compelling and vivid I felt like I was right there with Morgan and Tyler as they went on their search. Just when I thought the worst had happened, this crafty word wizard threw more obstacles in their way, and I found myself biting my nails and gasping in shock.
I love Tyler because, hello, swoony ex-SEAL protector, but I’m nose over toes in love with Morgan. This girl is flat-out amazing, with raw grit and fierce determination but she's so good and kind. Add in the twists, turns, and shockers, and I still have whiplash! Imagine jumping out of a plane without a parachute and walking away unscathed, and that's the emotional experience this phenomenal romance will give you. Take a chance on someone new to you and read this unparalleled, heart-pounding romance. You’ll thank me later. ;)
I received this book for free from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. So let's see how I can do this without spoilers. Girl meets guy while running away frombwhoever is after her. Needless to say he is a navy seal... man.. I am new to reading anything by this Author and she definitely gained a fan. This is the first book I've read by her and she kept me on my toes. The suspension throughout the book the complete storytelling. Whether or not to trust anyone especially those close to her.. just absolutely wow.. I will be going back and looking foe thw other books because this one was definitely one of my favorite I even told my Co workers about the story as I was reading... (She doesn't like reading) and she was like omg I need to know more. Great job to this Author. And if you are in to suspense, a have you believing this story is real type of book. You have to read this for sure.
Sam's story, He Unbreakable Protector, is both gut wrenching as it is hopeful. Sam has his demons and he needs to voice them so they do not cloud his mind. He trusts a woman who has issues as well as a young daughter. She, Cassidy, has a past that she cannot escape from and she only can share some of it with Sam. Both broken people who are trying to make it in the world but fate keeps knocking at their doors. Read and find how fate tears these two apart so many times that it is almost impossible to see a good ending. Read and see how redemption does come bringing pasts to a more hopeful beginning. PS: I read book two and I need to read all of the books now.
I loved this action packed read, and think that it’s one to definitely add to your TBR. A young heroine whose years more mature than her age, meets her soul mate at the wrong time. Fast forward a couple of years, and they are together again. Though now it’s not just safety Morgan seeks. She needs Tyler’s help to find the last of her family, and identify and defeat the villain who has made her life hell.
I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Morgan is an amazing character. I can relate to her love of wolves and she is a total badass. She is intelligent, quick witted and no damsel in distress but everyone needs a protector to help share the load. Tyler is such a guy and he helps fill many voids in Morgan’s life that she acquired due to tragedy. There are great supporting characters- including some four-legged ones- and lots of intrigue. It could use a little polish but is still a very entertaining read.
I may be in the minority, but I struggled with how I felt about this book. I didn't NOT like it, per se, but it just... confused me. The writer genuinely has skill, especially on a sentential level—there's some beautiful word crafting here—but the plot and character development has me scratching my head in places.
First off, this is book 3 in a series; I read book 1 but missed book 2. And, honestly, I had a similar reaction to that first novel. This one works fine as a standalone, though someone new to the series might be a little curious about secondary character Jack. The series revolves around a search and rescue team that focuses on child abductions, and the team seems to function with impunity. All they have to say to law enforcement is that they're with Red Mark, and the law steps back obsequiously. But I digress.
Here, chief of ops Tyler gets his story. It actually begins a couple of years prior, when heroine Morgan is 19 and on the run. I struggled with Morgan's character development the most. She's tough and resilient, which I liked, but she's way too young for me. Supposedly, she's a wolf biologist, but it takes a long time before there's an offhand reference that explained how she could be achieve that status so young. And yet, her wolf expertise plays no role in the story other than to give her a reason for her tattoo and as a source for Ty's nickname for her: Wolf Girl. Well, it gives us a tiny idea of how she can survive in the wilderness for a while, but even that ability is underplayed.
So a lot of Morgan's past, like her being smarter than the average teen, is hidden and only slowly revealed to us, yet nothing in the slow reveal seems like it was necessary to be hidden. Having some of this knowledge in advance would be useful for the reader.
There are other odd things that perhaps a solid content edit could help. Perhaps the most notorious is the use of "FBI informant." I'm no FBI pro, but I'm pretty sure the work these informants did was more work of agents? I think of informants as slightly shady characters who get paid on a case-by-case basis to offer information about other shady characters. I tried just to substitute "agent," but it was distracting.
Anyway, the general plot is okay, maybe even good, but overall, it just wasn't for me.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
This book enthralled me from the very first page. Nineteen year old Morgan is on the run after her parents are murdered and young sister taken. She doesn’t know who is after her, but her parents planned for a quick getaway and she is quick to follow it. She has also been taught survival skills, but first she must evade the people who are seeking her. When her assailants get too close, Morgan abandons her car and ends up at the beach trying to blend in as best she can. Tyler, a Navy SEAL, comes to her rescue and helps her to get away.
Neither expect to see each other again, but two years later, they meet again. He now works for Red Mark Rescue and Protection and is a children’s rescue specialist. He often reflects on meeting Wolf Girl, as he thinks of Morgan, especially when he has the Yellowstone coin she gave him in his hand. He remembers her courage and determination even in the face of her fear and her desperation to get away and hide. Now she needs his help to find her sister who has been missing since her parents were murdered. Morgan has been constantly moving, hiding, and evading her pursuers while trying to find her sister. A new lead makes her seek out Tyler and his colleagues for help. He is shocked to see her terrible physical condition and vows to himself that he will take care of her, help her find her sister and find out who is pursuing her and put a stop to it.
As their story continues, there are lots of twists and setbacks, but through it all Morgan and Tyler feel the growing connection, the deepening feelings and the unmistakable heat between them. There are few shocks and bumps ahead and questions about who to trust as secrets come to light. Both weren’t looking for love, but find themselves wanting a chance at forever together.
I very much recommend this well crafted book to those who enjoy intrigue and suspense with their romance. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I received this advance copy of this book for my honest review. I have not read book one or two in this series so my review is solely based on this book. The characters in this book are amazing. I felt like Morgan had so much depth throughout this story. Her love of wolves really effected everything she did and acted in the book. At so many parts I was waiting for the author to say the issue was that her parents linked her DNA with wolves and that is why this group of people wanted her dead. Because her mannerisms were described like they would a wolf. Also animals tend to love Morgan throughout the book. I felt like Tyler was a little more flat and didn't see much personality outside of his SEAL personality. I wanted more personality from Tyler in the book. The plot in this book flowed really well though I stumbled realizing we jumped from the first time they met to her coming to him. But it didn't take away from the book. The dialogue in this book was a little rusty in places and felt like it was forced rather then flowed. But, I was able to overlook it. I highly recommend checking this unique military romance out.
This book starts with Morgan Blackwell running for her life in Venice California after her home exploded and her parents were killed.
She ends up jumping into the ocean and and bumps into a surfer, Tyler Hunt and automatically tries to hide herself so she isn't seen. She ends up kissing him while holding onto him.
He somehow realizes she is in some type of danger and offers to help her evade the bad guys. She needs to get to Washington, so Tyler offers to drive her there. He leaves her and goes back to his Seal team.
Two years go by, and Tyler is now part of Red Mark Security & Rescue team that finds missing children who have been kidnapped.
As for Morgan, she is still running from the people after her. She decides to look up Tyler to enlist his help to find her missing sister.
I won't go into any more detail, but just want to say this book is fantastic. It does have some subject matter that is sensitive, but the overall storyline has lots of suspense, sizzle, and lots of twists and turns.
All-in-all, this was an enjoyable action adventure romance novel. If you're looking for Tom Clancy, you might be disappointed, but, overall, I think the story holds up well. I started the series with this book as part of Alessa's ARC team, so thanks to the author for providing me with an advance copy. I'm leaving this honest review voluntarily, and I plan on reading the remaining books in the series. There never seems to be enough sex in these types of books, but I suppose that's the difference between this offering and true erotica. Don't get me wrong, the sex is pretty steamy in this, when it happens, but the characters are so busy participating in their adventure that their time is somewhat limited. Throughout the book, I found some of the phrasing and dialogue to be a bit odd, and the sequence of events in final conflict was a little confusing to me in the way it was written, but it certainly was not enough to mark down the review.
This latest addition to the series will grab your attention from the first page to the last. Two years ago Morgan Blackwell’s life came tumbling down. At that time, Navy SEAL Tyler Sebastian was her savior. But after his deployment, she didn’t see him again. Fast forward two years, and Morgan finds herself once again needing Tyler’s help, this time, in finding her missing sister. More beautiful than ever, Tyler , now a child rescue specialist, vows to help her. In the midst of the danger, feelings develop and the truth about Morgan’s deceased parents are revealed. Will these two be able to find Morgan’s sister? Will they be able to survive the danger? If so, in the end , will they go their separate ways, or will they realize they belong together? The story was engaging from start to finish. A true rollercoaster of action and feelings and another great addition to the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Tyler and Morgan had such an amazing chemistry and that was definitely evident from the start.
Morgan was getting tracked after her parents were murdered and she needed help. So she ran to the only man she knew who would help, Tyler who worked for Red Mark Security.
So much action, drama and loads off suspense put this story off to an amazing start and that carried through to the very end. I really enjoyed Tyler and Morgan, both unassuming and protective of each other but knowing what needed to be done.
This author writes a wonderful story that pulls you along with the action and invites you into the romance. Such a fantastic story and I can't wait for the next one. But brilliant!!!
This romantic suspense novel is Book 3 of the Red Mark Search and Rescue Series. This is the story of Morgan and Tyler. Morgan, who is on the run and looking for her missing sister and Tyler, and former Seal and now a part of Red Mark Search and Rescue.
This novel is full of twists and turns, family betrayal and hope. I enjoyed this author’s ability to tell a story. It was full of action and spice. I liked that it took on the topic of missing kids and the brainwashing they go through at the hands of their kidnapper.
While I was little confused at the beginning on why Morgan was on the run, those questions were answered later in the book. I felt the plot was well written and it kept my interest. The characters are likeable, and I felt Tyler was a total sweetheart.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who sees beyond the surface. This is the story of Morgan and Tyler. Both of them strong characters, defined by honor, integrity and reliability. They make a steadfast pair of heroes, protecting each other and taking care of each other. Gorgeous ex-SEAL hero and beautiful, big brown eyes, heroine who loves animals. As for the action, wow! I couldn't put the book down. This is a novel of personal treks, finding the one, danger, good people, ex-military guys, dogs, dangerous encounters, saving people, loyalty and depth of character. Read the book, you will enjoy it! I received an advanced copy from the author. I honestly enjoyed the book! Full five stars!
She’s being hunted by someone who killed her parents and kidnapped her little sister. There’s more than one mystery to solve and she keeps getting out maneuvered. Two years ago, she sought his help when they met in the ocean now she seeks him out at his new to help find her sister. He was a SEAL, now he works for a company that rescues kidnapped children. There are many twists, turns and surprises in this story that will keep you entertained from the beginning to the end. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Her Steadfast Protector was really good in many ways. The action was fast and furious and kept you guessing. It was hard to put down. I did think that much of Morgan and Tyler's background was too slowly revealed. Morgan was so young to be in her position. The slow reveal of information took a little away from the story, but it was still enjoyable. I also guessed the culprit before the end, but I still had to read it all to confirm my suspicions. A well written book, by a great author. Thanks to the author for providing me with an advance copy. I'm leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Alessa Kelly's Red Mark Protectors keep getting better and better! Morgan is on the run after a family tragedy when she runs into Tyler and he saved her and in turn she saved him. Two years later, he is out of the Navy and working for Red Mark Rescue, when Morgan turns up in his life again. She needs Ty and his team to help her find her sister. This leads to shocking discoveries about her family. This book has suspense, danger, loss, action, but above all it has love and hope. Outstanding writing!
Thanks to the author for providing me with an advance copy. I’m leaving this honest review voluntarily. I recently discovered this author and am now a fan! Her Steadfast Protector is the latest in this series and has it all. The action, plot, and romance had me from the very beginning. Tyler and Morgan’s story demonstrates how remarkable true love can be and the lengths that people will go to in order to protect loved ones. I highly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed this book. Full of mystery suspense and romance. Morgan is on the run trying to find her sister Lily after both of her parents and her brother were murdered. Tyler is an ex-navy seal and now works to bring home exploited children. Lily finds him and their lives will never be the same.
This is a well written story with great characters. I started reading this series with this book, but I plan to read the first two. I think you will enjoy this one I know I did. I would encourage everyone to go get this one it is worth your time. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be the last. I look forward to see what comes next!!!
Her parents has been killed and her sister is missing and so she is on the run from those who killed them. He is haunted by the past and they are about to meet. How will it go? Can they help each other heal? See how it will all go
This was a good story. I enjoyed reading this story and Morgan and Tyler's story. The chemistry between the two was great and the angst of the plot added to everything. This is the first book I read by this author and will Probably read more in the future.
I thought this book was amazing! I loved Morgan’s strong character….she was amazing - not a helpless female by any means but also smart enough to get help when she needed it. I also really enjoyed Tyler’s character - he had unexpected layers that really made him the perfect alpha book boyfriend. When mixed into a storyline full of unexpected twists, this book had everything I enjoy about romantic suspense. I highly recommend.
