'I'm not past my prime. And neither are you!' Engaging and wise, A Work in Progress will resonate with every middle-aged woman who feels newly invisible, silenced, underestimated or diminished. From knowing our worth, looking ahead with excitement and possibility, and realising that we still have so much to give and enjoy, this is a book that will change lives.
Sue Cleaver shares her experiences and life stories, reflects on how they made her feel and what she learned, and offers advice and tips for others who find themselves in similar situations. Are you a chronic overthinker, do you have anxiety, or suffer from self-doubt? Sue has been there, done that, and is still learning from it. Training as a therapist was only the start of her journey of self-discovery and at sixty she feels more empowered to live life to the full than ever before.
'I've spent a lifetime feeling that I'm not enough or I don't belong. It's only now that I'm beginning to find my voice. I'm also aware that there is plenty for me to learn. I'm still a work in progress, but for the first time in my life, I have reached a point where I'm no longer hiding, and that feels good.'
Wow a great book! Lovely to read about Sue's earlier life which apart from the adoption mirrored mine! And the last chapters again she could have been writing about me, it's so comforting to know I'm not the only 1 and now is the time with the courage I have to change my life, thank you Sue xx
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed learning more about Sue’s early life, but I preferred the second part of the book as it had more advice and experiences I could relate to. I liked the fact that at the end of the chapters there were tips which I found really helpful. An enjoyable positive read for middle aged women. Thanks to NetGalley, Sue Cleaver and Bloomsbury Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Very easy to read, this was a very interesting account of Sue's early life and how she ended up where she is now. The struggles she faced in her private life and how being in the public eye can affect people around you.
