The story was good, but it had a few moments of repetition which I did not like. Moments where we re-discussed topics that were already known? Yet somehow the characters completely forgot????

Also, it's marketed as "spicy", but there were barely ANY spicy scenes. I don't know... I loved the characters and the way that the world was set up, it just felt rushed and completely random sometimes.

Wow, I have enjoyed every book in this series so far and am now reading the last one. This is a series that is best read in order as you will not fully understand why the women in the books feel and have the problems, they do without the history of what happened to them. Laird Flynn had his three sisters kidnapped by an English Lord who keep them for six years. He was abusive to them and his own daughter too, Elizabeth. She tried to help them all she could which ended with her getting punished. Now she has been captured by their brother for revenge on her father. Only Flynn doesn't understand that Elizabeth feels safer and happier in his castle then she every did with her father. Flynn plans to get information about when her father plans to attack so they can stop him. Elizabeth doesn’t know anything. As they barter back and forth both are struggling with the attraction and growing feelings for the other. Neither can stop thinking about what could be if only. This is a somewhat fast paced story; I love Elizabeth and even after all she has gone thru could still feel affection and love for a man. Flynn is very different then she though he would be, nothing like her father. I was a little disappointed in Flynn he looked like a strong, rough highlander but was let his mother and other override how he truly felt and what he knew he wanted. He was indecisive when he should have stood up for himself more. If you like strong women, rough strong men, alone with mystery, danger and passion this is a good story for you.

This is book three in the series and it is a doozy! Elizabeth is the daughter of Archibald Hampton, the Earl of Cramshire, who had captured Flynn’s sisters and enslaved them for six years. Now that his sisters have been rescued and two of them have married, Flynn, Laird O’Kane, is keeping Elizabeth as a prisoner in his castle as punishment and payback. There is a fine line between love and hate, and in Elizabeth and Flynn’s case it is a tightrope. Their chemistry is so strong that the air practically crackles whenever the two of them are together. There is so much going on in this story. While Flynn’s mother is pushing him to marry a woman of her choice, and he is trying to get information about Archibald and his plans for an attack, Flynn is desperately trying to keep his feelings in check and his hands off of ‘the Englishwoman’. The desire between them is palpable and leads to intense banter and steamy moments. This book includes, betrayal, kidnapping, strong emotions, and battles, both physical and emotional. It is well written, descriptive, action packed and nearly impossible to put down. There is an undercurrent of tension and danger thst runs from beginning to end, and the cast of characters is varied and believable. Both the epilogue and the extended epilogue end with a difinitive statement that leaves you with a smile and the burning desire to know more. I absolutely loved it!

Something missing.

Laird Flynn’s 3 sisters were kidnapped and held captive by Archibald, an English Earl for 6 years before he was able to rescue them. Now Flynn holds the daughter of that man captive. Elizabeth was tormented and tortured by her father just like his captives. Now she is captive of Flynn but it is not the same. She sees kindness in the Scottish clan and does not want to return to her father. As much as Flynn and Elizabeth try not to grow attracted to the other, it is no use. But Elizabeth’s father will not give her up so easily. This story was good and I liked it very much but I still had unanswered questions at the end. What happened to Ashton? Elizabeth’s father’s death is not explained. One minute he was attacking the castle and the next Flynn was injured and proclaimed that Elizabeth’s father is dead.

Laird falls for prisoner

So I liked the concept of this story and the characters did finally come to life for me. I just was not impressed with how the story was told. I felt like I was forever trying to catch up to the plot only to realize there are two other books before. However even !most series the reader is able to quickly catch on. It took until the 20th for me to realize who and what was important to the story. Scenes were stiff and seemed to skip from one extreme to another not in a fluid way though. Overall decent enough to read but I've read much better from this author.

Laird O’Grain 😂😂😂😂😂

I absolutely positively loved this story. So now we need Erin’s story. Elizabeth blamed herself for all her father’s actions. Boy was he an SOB!! So happy he got his comeuppance big time. I would have liked closure with the dungeon mate. Off with his head!! I love all the characters and the storyline so much. Maddie writes such wonderful stories. Some editing issues but otherwise great story. Now to a brand new book by Eloise Madigan. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

This Scottish romance will warm your heart and have you cheering Lady Elizabeth on. When she runs away from her abusive father, she lands right into the arms of Laird Flynn her father's enemy and is just as abusive. But when she is in Flynn's arms sparks ignite having Elizabeth thinking maybe being with Laird Flynn is the better place to be.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

Lady Elizabeth Hampton is currently under Laird Flynn’s protection, but she is also confined within the walls of the castle. While she tries to blend in with everyone, she tests and pushes the Laird’s patience every chance she gets.
This book is really a great read and it keeps you guessing at the intense points, and doesn’t disappoint!

Flynn & Elizabeth Are our main characters in this book. Elizabeth is under his protection or is she a prisoner? Either way, she's not gonna make it easy on him. She's a very strong FMC that loves pushing his buttons. But how long can she hold out? If you like historical romance, I highly recommend this author.

Never get Captured by a Highlander Highland Rules Book 3

This was fun to read but needed proofreading better. It didn't line up with the other books in the series. But i loved the storyline, the steamy hot sex, the interaction with family and friends. I was sad that his close friend was bad person.

A fight for love?

Well it was very much a story of love against all odds when your are the daughter of an English man who is determined to wipe out the Scots, and you are a prisoner in the castle of a Scottish Laird. It was a constant battle of a love/hate relationship between the two. Would love conquer all? Or would it all end in sadness?

Prisoner

Elizabeth is brought by Laird O’Kane to his castle as his prisoner due to the fact that her father had kept his sisters his prisoners. Life has a way of challenging feelings and emotions. The poor couple could only imagine a happy ending.

But-headed, argumentative and completely held captive

Wow! Elizabeth and Flynn fought like cats and dogs. She was a great character who could give as much as she got. Flynn was a good, kind and caring Laird. He loved to butt heads with Elizabeth and stir the pot. Great story.
