Not as good as "Ever." I felt like it was really repetitive in a lot of places and sometimes it got confusing explaining the whole thing about souls, collectors, and everything else related to them that I won't delve into because it's so complicated.
AND.......CUE SPOILER.
Yes, people, Ariadne is Estelle, which is what I thought all along when it was said in the first book how alike she and Ever's mother Annabelle looked, with the eyes and hair, and I thought, well, no one can look that much alike unless they're related, and then, ah-ha, of course, the missing "dead" sister that was mentioned in passing for what reason, now? I mean, authors don't mention details unless they're worth noting and remembering, otherwise that little tidbit of info should have never been in the book at all, right? I just wish she'd done it a little bit more gracefully and not so blatantly, so that when that fact was finally revealed I didn't think to myself, Oh, there it is, okay, moving on. It should've been made more significant.
On a more positive note, I absolutely ADORED the continued chemistry between Toby and Ever. I think they're just SO perfect for each other! Night and day, of course, but hey, opposites attract.
And OMIGOD the ending!!!! WHAT THE F. I gave this book 4 stars instead of 3 just because of what happened in the end, and the fact that I loved that Ever really showed off her famous spunk and just got some more backbone with her whole 'I'm not a freaking damsel in distress so stop treating me like one' attitude. I was like, you go girl! the whole time, but on a more male chivalry-favored I loved that Toby was her knight, black or white. ;) Then there was that ending, and while I didn't like the sudden change in POV because I thought it was really inconsistent and awkward, I loved that Ever finally took things into her own hands and decided to stop waiting for everyone else to make her decisions for her.
Overall, I enjoyed it, save the things I mentioned I didn't like, but still worth reading and following Ever's journey.
