what the fuck did i just read at 4am 🤯🥵

the way i couldn’t stop reading omg !! if you enjoy reading, stalker romance, somno, knife play, primal play, dub con, non con, ffm / mmf scenes, masked characters, no happily ever after, and a whole lot of mindfuck towards the end then this is the perfect book for you 🖤

celeste is a horny little thing and i felt miss girl straight in my core 😅 the way she doesn’t hold back and is down for all the kinky shit had me breaking my damn neck. but garett ?! oh my god … this man is filthy, this man is downright bad and i’m all here for it. you’re telling me you wouldn’t fold from the words coming out of his mouth ? you’re lying 🫠😮‍💨 his bestie luke too. good lord was i down bad. their nicknames for her actually had me foaming at the mouth !!

the desk scene … i never wanted to be another woman so bad in my life.
the woods scene … my legs were fucking trembling.

THE PLOT TWIST !? WHAT THE FUCK !?
i was NOT expecting that at all omg 😭 i was scared, i was horny, i was shocked all in one and i have no idea how to comprehend that. these devilish men had me in a damn chokehold. you got one that’s been stalking her for the longest time, then you got another one who’s completely obsessed with her the second they met.

omg i wish this was longer but i absolutely loved this was a prequel !! i will definitely be reading the rest in this series because WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING !?

I love masked men with questionable morals, but this wasn't it for me. Very rushed, repetitive (if I had a nickel for every "angel," I'd be rich), hardly had any plot, and the blurb was incredibly misleading for the premise.

Garett takes stalking to a whole new level friends. Devil in disguise INDEED. His obsession takes control and he does NOT back down from what he wants. He goes for it. The plans this man has made.. I'm SPEECHLESS. 👀

Celeste really had no chance tbh. 😅 a high school business teacher with anxiety problems and I'm guessing some deeper trauma that we have yet to see from her. She seems to not have very close girl friend relationships either, her friend Liv leaving her at the club was kinda rude, even if it was to get some. 🤣

And Luke? That man is so deranged and I love it! What a partner in crime to have though. Luke is one of those characters you get to know, and yet know nothing about at the same time and I'm so looking forward to getting more of him in the future!


I really was hanging off the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time! And the cliff I'm left hanging off of? I NEED MORE!

HEART. PALPITATIONS. I’m telling youuuuu! Felt like I was running for my life in those damn woods lmao😂

This story was so immersive, and I loved how the characters didn’t hold anything back. I felt every emotion reading this story and I was biting tf out of my nails by the end beca I didn’t know how it would end LMAO!

Did I miss something?! I’m actually confused at all the 5 stars and convinced I’ve missed something? It was just rushed porn? The storyline was barely there, the plot twist was over and done with, the ending was weird as hell. I live for dark romance but this just felt so hurried and repetitive! Based on the reviews I’ve either missed something or had much higher expectations.

I absolutely devoured The Devil in Disguise in one day because it was that good, but if you’re dead set on a HEA - hate to break it to you honey, you will not find it here.

I love that LO fed my obsession with masked men even more, but then made me want to admit myself to the grippy sock vacation home with that ending. I will not ruin it, for everyone, but like wtf? 😂

This novella had my jaw on the floor, and me questioning if I need therapy 🤣 please read the trigger warnings as this has a few very dark themes involved. It’s a 5/5⭐️ read for me

Keep in mind this is a very short novella, and it’s extremely spicy 5/5🌶️ probably 90% spice 10% plot 🥵 so if you aren’t into a very very smutty read, this won’t be for you. However if you like dark and twisted smut, this is DEFINITELY for you.

Celeste is a business teacher, loner, has one friend, no family. We don’t learn much else about her (again this is like 120 pages of dark suspenseful smut, it did what it was intended to do)

Garett and Luke, our deranged psychopaths. The devil and the demon. Both obsessed, one’s a stalker, both possessive.

There is a plot twist I didn’t see coming, I figured it would be the standard stalker/obsessed trope. I was so wrong, and so happy it was different from all my other reads like this.

The end of this left me wanting more, all in all it was written well, and the smut was top tier. I enjoyed every second of this novella and I’ll be so excited when the rest of LO’s books come out!

where do i START. it started off with a bang and ended with a bang 🏃🏻‍♀️

garett knows he’s unhinged , let’s start there. but that doesn’t stop him from doing his unhinged things .
him and his bestie luke are unhinged TOGETHER, like two peas in a pod 🤞🏼 but they’re both hot and they know it.

celeste is a whole other story. she’s not reserved, but cautious. but she’s not afraid to go and live her life wild, young and free. that it until it gets her caught in the traps of the devil and the demon.

this story is not your typical HEA, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you will not get it here. but you will get loads of spice and a wild time.

Listen. This book was a ride. Not a “holy shyt, my world is changed” type ride, but a “wait, wtf is going on here… lemme just read one more chapter” type vibe. You know the ones.

Now—was I expecting the FF action? Absolutely not.
Was I mad at it? Absolutely not.
The FMCs in this book are sexually uninhibited in a way I LIVE for. It wasn’t giving pick-me, it was giving “I’m hot, I know it, and I do what I want.” Ten outta ten!

The smut? Smutted. No complaints.
The vibes? Creepy-hot with a little sprinkle of am I into this or should I call someone?

Now—let’s talk about the twist. Because that ending? Wasn’t a cliffhanger that made me throw my Kindle, but it was twisty enough that I flipped back like “you sneaky muthafucka…” And sure enough—the breadcrumbs were there. Respect.

My one gripe? I get attached. So when character dynamics shift—especially when someone I side-eyed suddenly wants redemption—it’s hard for me to pivot. If you came in lookin’ like a bitch, I’m not just gonna un-bitch you because you got one good chapter. But maybe that’s a me problem… no, it’s definitely a me problem… do I care .. meh no really lol

Anyway. Book 2? Curiosity has me in a chokehold and I need to know how this is gonna go.

Wow, all gas, absolutely NO brakes through this entire book! From the jump I was on my toes and it hasn’t let up, even more so now that I’ve finished the book.

Garett, oh my man. You are so goddamn crazy. “I want to skin her with my damn tongue and savor every second I get to taste her delicious flesh.” He is infatuated with our FMC Celeste and he’s been stalking her for quite sometime, and today is the day his plan goes into action.

Celeste, my beautiful Celeste. “I mean, what do you say to a masked stranger whose name you don’t even know, but who you let fuck you with a knife in the back of seedy club?” By day she’s a high school teacher and by night, she’s unleashed an inner persona that becomes rather familiar to herself as the book goes on.

Luke is Garetts’ best friend from high school and has been by his side ever since. While Luke grew up the same as Garett, he did refine into a high positioned job by day and by night, he becomes a demon.

Not only did this book leave me on a cliffhanger on the last chapter, it also left me on one from the epilogue! Luke and Garett are a couple of crazy masked men when they’re together. Whether it’s pure delusion or lust? 🤷🏼‍♀️

But WOW, LO Gold, I cannot wait for more of this story because while it gave me everything and made me feel everything, I need and crave more in the most amazing way. I’m honestly still trying to process what happened.

Most of it is smut which is fine but it felt very rushed. It looks like my opinion is a very unpopular one after looking at the 5* reviews for this book but I honestly wasn't enjoying the ride. If I was in the mood for a quick spicy read then yeah, full stars. I understand that it's just a novella but I've read ones before that ticked all the boxes and were structured so well that you'd be actually left wanting more.

Minimal plot, ending was like WHAT? + the repetitiveness is what started to get me on the wrong side of this book. We don't need to get told more than two times that she has pale skin that blushes, on the same page. Think we got it the first time 🤔😭

Hotter Than Hell and Twice As Twisted

Book Besties, "The Devil in Disguise by Lo Gold"? WHEW Chile! Buckle up, because this book is dark, gritty, and hotter than sin! Celeste’s story had me clutching my Kindle like it owed me answers. It’s edgy AF, dripping in suspense, and that twist toward the end? I literally gasped. Did. Not. See. That. Coming.

Let’s talk spice. Celeste and Garett? Their chemistry is feral—raw, unhinged, and twisted in the best way. He’s sadistic, and she matches his energy. But then there’s Luke… a pleasure Dom who knows how to serve pain and pleasure like a damn artform. I was unwell in the best way.

This book doesn’t hold back, so please read the trigger warnings. It’s a wild ride through obsession, dominance, and manipulation—and I couldn’t get enough. Lo Gold? You’ve created a delicious monster, and I loved every deviant second of it.

Dark, steamy, twisty, and turny.
The beginning of this book is mostly spicy scenes with variations of MMF FFM (idk the order of them but you get me 😂) if you need a steamy spicy read this will have you covered.
What really boosted it for me was the twist at the end. I love a good mind bender. This doesn’t have a traditional happy ending between the group this story follows but I will say that the author left room for other books and I believe there will be more that may come with an HEA for it!
THAT BEING SAID this ending wasn’t bad so to speak, very interpretation-y if you will.

It will capture you from the first chapter and carry you to the end and you will get lost in the story and not want to put it down! There are twists and turns and oh man, the scenes, are so spicy!!!

Um, what the fuck? I was NOT expecting the revenge plot towards the end. Garrett is the definition of unhinged and is quite literally a devil in disguise. He even had me fooled and on the edge of my seat, wondering what's going to happen to the other characters. Check trigger warnings before reading. This is a dark romance thriller, so the book is kind of fast-paced, and is filled with lots of spice and some twists and turns.

Firstly, I am in absolutely awe that this is LO Gold’s debut novel. I didn’t realize that when I signed up for the arc read and I am SHOCKED because this is the best dark romance I have read.

Dark romance is definitely my read of choice, but sometimes I struggle with this genre because I have noticed that either the plot is sacrificed or the smut… Some of these books drag on and on and it’s unnecessary and then I’m struggling not to DNF and stay interested.

This was not an issue with this book – at all. This book was the perfect length. Seriously, everything that happened was relevant to the plot – including the smut. The story progressed so well and so intentionally, that this was one of the fastest reads of the year for me. I could not put this book down.

I finished this book a couple days ago, and honestly, I have been thinking about it quite a bit. Not in the usual, “But why did this happen? I have so many questions”, kind of way, but a, this story was just so good and so unique in its progression and it’s ending, that I genuinely see myself reading this again.

This book was so well written and unhinged and I cannot wait to read more from this author!
