"Oh, he came with the house." The first house I buy for a damn steal comes with an otherworldly surprise. Needless to say, the housewarming I get from Kastoron is something less than magical. Late-night talks and couch therapy sessions with the demon under my bed soon become the norm between us after I get used to his antics—he still gets me with a corner scare, though. Who would have thought I would end up giving my soul to the demon who tried to scare it out of me on day one? Then again, I never knew it was possible for a demon to adore me so much. Never do I think a demon would be the one to show me how to love myself for all I am. Funny how we fear the shadows only to find comfort and pleasure in them. This was a quick little novella, but it certainly was a great one! I was absolutely obsessed with Shadow Daddy Kastoron and his love for Stella. This book was filled with great banter and great chemistry! I love how Stella communicates her past history, and Kastoron listens intently and takes note of her words, to ensure he shows her how truly amazing a lover can be if they just listen.
I loved Rose's writing style, and look forward to reading many more books from her!
I really enjoyed this novella ! Super quick read... I love me a shadow, Daddy 🥵 From start to finish, this book just made me giggle.. I can't wait to read the next novella in this collection. Was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump.
This novella was like an adult version of the monster hiding under your bed and I was sooo there for it I love that the demon shadow daddy had a personality rather than just being dark and broody he was hilarious but just as annoying as a poltergeist hahaha 👻 I would have loved a more in-depth story but overall this was excellent.
First off it’s not too long and not too short. The storyline was such a creative take on the monster under your bed, and I’m not mad about it being spicy. This is my first shadow daddy type book and I’m hooked. I can’t wait for the next one. The banter is hilarious and the spicy scenes whoa!!!! It was an awesome read
First of all, I will always love me a shadow demon. This book had a creative approach with the demon under the bed story that I had never read before. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and found myself chuckling at times. Even though it’s a novella, I found myself wishing it was longer!
3.5⭐️ 3🌶️ MOOD: adventurous, emotional, funny TROPES: forced proximity, enemies to lovers (lite), hurt/comfort (lite), bully (lite) GENRES: contemporary, paranormal/supernatural FAV QUOTE: Funny how we fear the shadows only to find comfort and pleasure in them. New one, LEAST FAVORITE QUOTE: "I will always forgive you and give you more chances than you deserve because I love you..." I read that and said ewww
MAIN CHARACTERS: Stella (Human) and Kastoron (Shadow Demon)
THE GOOD: I love the beginning of the book. The introduction of the characters and their initial reactions and interactions to each other are amazing. It's feisty and funny and a great way to set up their bully/enemies to lovers type arc. That being said, I kind of lost interest about half way through. There's no real conflict and the forced proximity is really forced in Kastoron's case and as much as I hate a 3rd act breakup, in this instance, all of the blips in their relationship feel super forced and overly dramatic. THE NEUTRAL: I'm all about a Consent King, especially in the realms of BDSM/Kink and Dark/Grey romances BUT there are a lot of Kas' lines that feel really forced when you take into account his age and how long he's been trapped in that house. There are also some conversations between Kas and Stella later in the story about why they like/are attracted to each other that don't really make sense. It's all "I like you because XYZ," but the XYZ hasn't been shown in any way and while stuff can happen off the page there hasn't been a lot of time for that to happen, and given that he's trapped and she works from home, it just felt odd. THE MEH: From the description of the Shadow demon being a Daddy dom and the CW, I thought it would be spicier. Also, as someone who 100% judges books by their cover, and their title, the cover doesn't match the character description for Stella.
Repeat words: snicker and chuckle - it just got annoying to read
CW, provided by author: explicit language, violence, sexual scenes, sexual violence, abuse, alcohol and drug use, dub-con/CNC, bdsm elements and tones, mentions of assault, edge play (breath play, restraints, anal. DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.
This book is a novella written by Rose Chase. Let me start off by saying if you have a fantasy about buying a "Haunted" house and becoming more than acquainted with a pure demon from hell.. This novella is a goof place to start. It's about a woman who is a photographer and wants to expand her profession on her own and become independent. She had a thing for failed/troubled relationships in the past. That is until the "Monster" under her bed known as Kastoron changes everything. With spicy scenes (things that my eyes have never read before) and plenty of tormenting. I don't want to completely spoil if but I just may pick up another book from Rose to see what else is in store. BECAME HER LIFE. WITH UNEXPECTED BOUND TO BE MATES COMES IN PLAY and the wild explicit demon sex comes A whole new can of worms. I liked this book overall I just felt like it was a little rushed and wish it was laid out Better!
This was my first demon daddy book and I definitely want to read more haha. This novella had its moments and overall I did enjoy reading it. It had a nice chunk of spice and I can't get a certain image out of my head so I give props to Stella for enduring that part for us 😅
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I don’t wanna give away too much of the plot of the novella in this review so lets get started :)
I typically don’t read books with too much fantasy / fantasy creatures (demons/beasts etc) but i actually really enjoyed this novella!
I particularly liked the FMC and her humor towards the MMC. I really liked the soulmates aspect because it’s something different than your typical “we just couldn’t stay away from each other so we got married” type deal. I loved the FMC a lot because she wasn’t one of those ditzy FMC that’s just like “this isn’t happening” and plays dumb for half the story.
I also adore how the MMC was written. I liked his personality towards the FMC and just in general. I feel like for this to be a series of interconnected standalones it would make each book better. i personally love interconnected series a bit more than a normal series but i may be biased :,)
Overall I really wished this Novella was longer, but that’s what keeps me excited for the future stories! I’m looking forward to the next works from Rose Chase !!
Also thank you to Rose for letting me be an ARC reader for this story! Please look forward to the official release ❤️
Who doesn't love a shadow daddy!!! This was such a good read!! The book was really fun, the characters bounced off each other really well to the point it was fun to read!! This is a must read when it comes out.
Not only did he come with the house but he keeps you cumming as well??? Sign me up haha
The banter between the main characters had me giggling and the pranks had me hoping for more fun interactions between the two which we did get.
This spicy scenes were 🔥🔥👩🏻🍳💋! Who doesn’t love a good shadow daddy moment!
I do wish it was a bit longer but only because I enjoyed their banter so much. I’m excited for the upcoming novellas and for future shadow daddy fun. Thank you to Rose for allowing me to ARC read this book it truly got me out of a reading slump and was exactly what I was needing.
A nice short spicy read, I really loved the main characters and the chemistry between them. I will definitely add more books by this author to my TBR!!
Quick easy read and spicy! Shadow daddy?! Absolutely!! A photographer buys a very cheap house but didn’t expect a demon to come included with the house! I could not put this book down.. it was so good and loved how Kassie made Stella feel more secure about herself. It had parts that had me laughing (holy water) 🤣 absolutely loved this read but wished there was more!
This book is so perfect. Literally in every single way. The banter The spice The characters The spice The world building THE SPICE. Have I mentioned it’s spicy?? I love books by Rose Chase. She’s such an amazing author, and this one is just another in the list of books I absolutely adore from her!
As children, we fear what is under our beds. This spicy novella is the perfect length to give adults an exciting view on just how "fun" monsters can be.
Mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it was super sweet and spicy. It was only slightly dark (like the barest minimum in my opinion), and that was really only in the beginning.
I really only have one major draw back. But that's a spoiler, so that'll be below. It's also a personal preference, so I'm sure other people won't have as much issue with it as I did. The only other thing I'll say is, there were times when it felt like the internal monologues of the characters were exceptionally long winded. I read through them at first, but after awhile, I started skimming things until I reached a point where I saw some quotation marks again. (But again, there are probably others who really want that deep dive into what the other person is thinking. It just didn't do anything for me.)
All in all though, I'm definitely gonna be reading the next one. Can't wait to see what else is in store for the other demons we were briefly introduced to.
I thought this was such a fun story!!! I will be honest even though I am in my mid 30s I still sometimes have a voice in the back of my head saying there is something under my bed that is going to grab me, and I get all bundled up in my blankets to make myself feel safe. So, tell me why that first scene where the demon starts to terrorize her in bed played exactly into my fears in those moments when I have those thoughts. I got such a shiver as I read it playing out exactly how I fear it would if it were to actually happen to me. I loved it!!! And then you have Stella who turns it around on him later on by grabbing his hand and shocking the heck out of this demon. I can just picture the Pikachu face he had when that happened, and it had me giggling so hard. This book had so many moments just like that when I would be giggling at the antics of these two. They had great chemistry with their funny, sweet and spicy moments. The banter was so cute!!! Now I will say there were moments where I found stella to be a little whiney, but it makes sense if they are soulmates, and she is suffering some kind of mate sickness or something that you see in other true mate/soul mate series. As for Kas I enjoyed him too even if at times like he acknowledged he is a little emotionally immature, but he does try to be better, and you see real maturity from him when it matters especially when he is trying to explain and understand if she had given TRUE consent in her past experiences. So, for that I can deal with a prankster immature at times demon when he can show real maturity where it matters. I believe this is the 1st in a new series and I am excited to see what happens with it. This is a novella, and never would I saw did I feel like things were rushed or underdeveloped. I think the plot was really well done for a novella. I will say that I did love the story that I did wish it was longer just because I didn't want it to end.
this story is about stella who finds an amazing house for a steal but is left wondering what is wrong with it because there has to be something wrong with it to be this price in this economy during a housing shortage. So does she take the risk for the chance to own such an amazing house.... you bet your @ss she does. But little does she know there is a little extra something special lurking beneath her bed just looking for a new plaything
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Rose Chase's Under the Bed is a delightful, unexpected blend of supernatural horror and heartwarming romance. This short read packs a surprising emotional punch, transforming the age-old fear of things that go bump in the night into a touching story of self-discovery and love.
The relationship between the protagonist and Kastoron is the heart of this story. Their interactions are filled with wit, warmth, and a surprising depth of emotion. Despite the short length of the book, Chase does a fantastic job of developing their bond. What begins as a battle of wills with corner scares and spooky antics morphs into a genuine connection. Kastoron, the demon who once terrified her, becomes the unlikely source of her self-acceptance and confidence.
While the book doesn't delve deeply into world-building, the focus on character development and the intimate setting works well for the story Chase wants to tell. It's a short read, but it doesn't feel rushed. Each scene serves a purpose, and the epilogue wraps up the narrative in a satisfying way, leaving you with a sense of closure and warmth.
In summary, if you’re looking for a short, unique read that offers a blend of chills and heart, Under the Bed by Rose Chase is a must-read. It’s a delightful tale that turns the concept of fear on its head, showing that even demons can teach us to love ourselves.
This was my first demon/monster romance. I really enjoyed this book. This gave me beauty and beast vibe (not a retelling in, any way. In my opinion, it reminds me of beauty and the beast). This was so cute, I loved the banter between the two of them. I love how he was sensitive to her trauma and wanted to show her how a real man should treat a lady. That made it relatable to me in a way. I love how Stella didn't let him scare her away, and she had some spunk, too. she stood up for herself, and I loved that. I'm a bit of a brat myself, and i love starting play fights with my man. So that helped draw me in. I love the little bit of comedy that she threw in there. I did laugh at parts of the book. This was a nice quick read. It was a good book to read after finishing a heavy dark romance book of mine. I needed a nice little pick me up. I would recommend you read this book, and I would read it again. I only have one small complaint :/ I wish the ending didn't feel so rushed. That is why I gave it four stars. But like I said, I did really like this book, and I would definitely recommend it to all of my book besties 💗
⭐ARC Review⭐ This is my second ARC review for this author and I am so happy to see the progress she has made not only in her writing but in her storytelling. This sweet and spice novella was an easy read for all the right reasons. We meet a shadow prince demon stuck haunting a home for centuries, and a new homeowner -an photographer trying to make it on her own- whose stubborn personality clashes with his desire for chaos. Their intense fights leads to tensions and frustration ~ in many different ways, if you know what I mean😉~ which means they obviously have to angrily kiss the sense out of each other, RIGHT!? If any of this sounds like something you would like, do yourself a favor and pre-order this wonderful novella. While I loved this book, it may not be for everyone, please check the trigger warnings (SA-historical/off page) and take care of yourself! (Will be available on Kindle Unlimited)
Firstly, it feels a lot like reading 'hentai', along with a pleasing storyline and characters.
Kass is the considerate demon lover that you wish you could find in a partner. His nickname for Stella does not make me cringe, but comes across as good Olde chivalry. I like that he maintains his mischievous nature, as well as being a support role for Stella.
Stella is a sweet woman that has low self esteem and often will undermine her abilities/skills. She is an independent photographer, knows what she wants out of her career and that has a beautiful vision to show her clients(as the reader will find out).
I loved the author's take on demonology and mate bonds.
The way these two communicate is adoring, humorous, seductive and invigorating. Truly, good relationship goals and embracing the self; just as you are.
Thank you kindly @rose.chase.author for the opportunity to read this fantastic debt (ARC) novella 💕
Under my bed is a Paranormal Romance, rom com blended in, it was such a fun and spicy novella.
Without giving too much away, Stella moves into her new home only to find out it’s haunted by prankster demon named Kastoron, from there it turns into an interesting cohabitate situation.
When you think of monsters under the bed it use to freak me out, but after reading this and as an adult I definitely wouldn’t mind Kastoron under mine. For a novella the story was really well paced, Rose did a fantastic job with the storyline and characters, their personalities just had you loving them from the start. This book definitely had me giggling throughout, I loved the banter and chemistry between them and the spicy scenes had me fanning my face.
I definitely recommend to all the PNR, demon x human lovers out there or anyone looking for a light funny read. Don’t forget to check the CW/TW some topics may be sensitive to some.
Stella who buys a house knowing the price was too good to be true. But she was willing to accept anything. She just didn’t know the anything included a demon as part of the mortgage deal
As kids we fear what is under our beds but, the girl falling in love with the monster under her bed what a new take and I’m here for it.
I love Stella personality and the way she playing provokes the demon under the bed. Kassie’s the demon under the bed. He’s a playing bully. I swear he must be an Aquarius( my favourite kinda a$$hole) When he allows himself to feel for her, he is a perfect supportive partner
Love this book so much The writing is well done. It made me smile and giggle. The chemistry and banter between Stella and Kassie was wonderful.
I can't wait to read the next novella in this collection. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Paranormal Romance, Dark Romance, Fantasy, Rom/Com elements
Picture this: you find the perfect house, in the ideal neighborhood, with a spacious yard and everything is updated. The price tag is way too low for how insanely perfect this home is. That’s because it comes with a demon, but you don’t find that out until after the paperwork is signed and you move in.
Under My Bed by Rose Chase is a mix of many things, it’s dark yet sweet and romantic and it’s hilarious. Not to mention spicy! I’ve been on a shadow daddy kick and each book has been upping the level of shadow play. I enjoyed the balance of dark romance with romantic comedy.
“Funny how we fear the shadows only to find comfort and pleasure in them.”
While this novella had its funny moments and dark moments there are also a lot of serious tones in this novella with self-love and moving past your trauma. I loved how Stella was portrayed in this novella as a feisty FMC who, underneath it all, had been through a lot.
Overall this was a quick, steamy, rewarding read and I loved the ending the author gave us.
🌶🌶🌶🌶 "I honestly thought you would find it sweet that I got on my knees like this for you and proposed." Kastoron "You cheeky asshole, you rip my clothes off, tie me to an armchair and eat me out like a starved man to edge me nonstop. None of this is romantic for a proposal. Amd trust me, as much as I like you on your knees between me, not what people mean when they want the man to get down on a knee" -Stella
This is the cutest but spiciest demon/human romance novella! I was not disappointed! The 🌶 scenes were spicing for sure. Stella moved into a home, only to find out its being haunted demon, in which they become infatuated with one another after tormenting one another, only to find out they are soulmates.
‼️BUY A HOUSE- COMES WITH A KINKY SHADOW DADDY DEMON ‼️
SOLD!!!!
This was SUCH a fun read! Monster romance meets romantic comedy. Mash-up of genres I just absolutely love. Entertaining AF.
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick, but not too quick fun read! The plot is unique, it’s spicy as heck, funny, and overall just a good time.
I am a little obsessed with the MMC. He’s like a black cat temperament/demon/shadow daddy (and YES he likes to use his shadows 😉)…he’s the monster under the bed, the prankster poltergeist chucking stuff across the room just to annoy you, but he’s a just seeking attention and wrecking absolute havoc when he doesn’t get it lol. He’s also a big girl body positive/feminist king that is built for her pleasure, and don’t we just LOVE that??? Yes we do!
This is my second book by Rose Chase and I enjoy how spicy she makes her books!
The previous one I read is Killer in the Sheets.
This is the story of Stella who buys a house for $5,000!!! (I wish) she knew the price was sketchy but was convinced to buy it anyways! At that price, she was willing to accept anything.
Well she didn’t know that a demon was part of the mortgage deal! But this isn’t your typical monster under your bed, he’s tall and hot!!
The demon Kastoron makes his presence known to Stella right away! At first she’s scared but then find him amusing; his little antics like playing pranks on her and throwing items at her!
I laughed at their banter and love how their relationship develops! It’s very entertaining.
I loved this novella and Kas is so funny! You have to have a sense of humor after you’ve been cursed and bound to one location for 500+ years.
Stella is a quirky and fun photographer who buys her first home. It has a gorgeous lot, it’s affordable and it comes with its own shadow demon.
If you love shadow daddies then you are going to love Kastoron. He loves to annoy Stella and he is very jealous of her with other men. This shadow demon prince is immediately drawn to Stella. He never in all his years thought he would find his mate, can Stella really be her?
He is so patient and understanding with her when she explains her s€xual history and vows to show her just how enjoyable s€x can really be.
Demon daddy, yes please! Did I tell my boyfriend that I want him to pretend to be a demon under my bed, maybe lol spoiler alert he said no haha. Anyways I don’t expect much to happen in a novelas I like to read a couple after I get done with big series kinda to take a break but I loved this book. It is not usually the type of book I go for but I thought why not. I read it from beginning to end in one sitting, yea it’s short but I got a lot out of it with the story and the cute and spicy romance. My only complaint was I feel the ending dragged on a little too long and that’s just my own personal thing cause I just don’t like epilogues. This is 2 books and a row I’ve read from this author and I loved them both and I can’t wait to read the next.
I read this book in one sitting, it was that good, I’ll try not to spoil anything about this book just in case you read it (which you definitely should). Now who doesn’t love a shadow demon daddy who is possessive and jealous and only wants you for you and doesn’t give two sh*t’s about how you look. This book was absolutely amazing and spicy ASF, and has forced proximity and (my favorite) soulmates. This is my favorite quote “Now, scream it for all of Heaven and Hell to hear, so they know damn well who you belong to” “Under My Bed” was like a 10 star read for me (if only 10 stars were an option) I’d recommend this book who loves monster romance and of course a happy ending.
For like 160 pages, this dark supernatural romcom was absolutely delightful. If you’re looking for something short and spicy, this would be the perfect choice, I couldn’t put it down! Had me kicking my feet and giggling, and wondering if I moved house, is there any chance I could get a demon included in the asking price? 😇
As always check CW/TWs, there’s mentions of previous SA (not with the MMC).
✨ Also would like to thank Rose for giving me an ARC copy of this novella to review, can’t wait for the rest of the series ✨
4.5 ⭐ for this story about a woman who bought a house with a shadow demon included and fell in love with him.
This story is a quick read but it's not too short. I loved the banter between Stella and Kastoron and how Kas being a demon of hundreds years old is still like a brat kid sometimes who can't stand not being Stella center of attention.
It's spicy too so you will read how this demon can use the shadows to pleasure her, not only spook her.
I really enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking for the rest of the demon's stories.
- Thank you Rose Chase for giving me an arc. I'm giving my honest review-
