She’s one thing I never knew I wanted. And the more I fall, the more it’s going to hurt when I break her.

Sawyer

Being a Wolfe sucks.

I got expelled from my university and was forced to enroll in Crestwood.

Apparently, it’s my last chance.

Not to mention my father is insisting I get married.

I had a fiancée…before she was stolen from me by Levi fucking Kennedy.

He ruined my life.

And now?

Now, I intend to ruin his.

And I’m going to do it by ruining her.

Rika Kennedy is young, naive, and innocent. She looks up at me with those big green eyes like I’m a god.

It’s going to be so damn easy to make her fall in love with me.

To force her into a situation where she has to marry me.

And then I'm going to break her heart.

And it’ll be all Levi’s fault.

As long as I keep to the plan.

As long as I don’t do something stupid like fall in love with her.

Rika

Graduating from high school early and leaving home is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Now, I get to be away from my family…away from my mother.

I can finally be independent…I can finally be free.

Except my older brother still treats me like a kid.

It doesn’t matter that I graduated at the top of my class, that I’m eighteen, that I can make my own choices.

Like dating Sawyer Wolfe.

I’m not an idiot.

I know he has a reputation.

But there’s something about him…something alluring, something dangerous…and something more.

Something he doesn’t let everyone else see.

I know there’s more to him than what people say.

And he’s showing me, little by little.

It could mean nothing, but…

But I’d like to think there’s more to Sawyer than that.

In fact, I know there is.

Maybe Sawyer will break my heart.

But maybe…maybe he won’t.

And at this point, it’s my choice who I give my heart…and my body to. I can only hope he doesn’t shatter me completely.

Pucks & Deceit is a stand-alone arranged marriage dark hockey enemies to lovers romance featuring a tortured Alpha hockey player and the innocent ingenue who may just because as unhinged as he is. It has a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhanger. Please mind the trigger warnings!

Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.

Pucks and Deceit (Book 5 of The Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy Series) by Heather C Myers and Frankie Cardona is a Hockey College Romance novel. Hockey is one of my favorite sports so I am always ready for an interesting hockey romance. This is a series book that while I recommend you read them all you can read it as a stand alone.
The characters were well developed and carried through from previous novels. In fact parts of the plot were developed out of prior novels. It was still exciting to see where the whole thing was going to go. Sawyer went into the story planning on destroying Levi‘s life by breaking his little sisters heart. Meanwhile Rika is excited about college and being out of the grips of her family. She does fall for Sawyer despite the risk. Their is so much growth for both the characters. Sawyer especially grows up to be more of a man than a boy. The big question is does he care for Rika enough to forget his vengeance.
What a great book. I really enjoy it and hope to read more.

This is the fourth installment in the series and I feel like it’s getting progressively better. Sawyer is Liam’s younger brother and a Wolf. Rika is Levi’s younger sister whom he is protective and tries to keep her away from his “world”. The more Levi pushed to keep her under lock and key the more Rika rebels for her freedom. Sawyer is given one week to find a fiancé or his father will choose for him. Once he sees Rika, his mind is made up. He truly changes who he is or should I say embraces who he is. I really didn’t think I was going to like him at first but he turned into my favorite. These two together are just perfection. 🤌🏼

Immediate ick with the writing in this book. The sex scenes were so cringe & the storyline was so farfetched it was just too much. Why is the fmc always some sort of victim who needs a man to “save” her. Ugh.

Loved it!

Pucks & Deceit is the fourth book in the Crestwood Elite Hokey Academy series, but the second one I’ve read. I’ve already purchased the first two books that I have missed, and they are my next TBR.

If I thought I loved Liam and Ivy’s story (book 3), this one came out to prove that I haven’t seen anything yet….I loved the story. Sawyer is Liam’s younger brother. And boy, has he issues! They stem from his childhood and humor, women and deflection are his copying mechanisms. He met Rika after an ultimatum by his father – marry Contessa, his father’s choice, or find a bride of his own within a week. And not only that, but he finds out that Rika is Levi Kennedy’s sister – the sister of the man who “stole” his initial fiancé, Minka. It was also an arranged contracted marriage decided since they were children (not that he really loved her or anything). So…to say that things get complicated, is an understatement! He really likes Rika – he doesn’t understand how much or what it means at first – but he also decides to “use” her to get revenge on her brother AND to gain time regarding his father’s demands. But the more he gets to know her, the more he likes her and ends up captivated by her. She is the one who really sees him, and makes him realize things about himself. So, while the story progresses, we see him mature to the man he had the capacity to be (despite something really over the top that he does by the end, which I really think wasn’t necessary and left me a bit stunned, to say, at least). He becomes determined to keep her, fiercely protective and alpha possessive. I loved it! Rika is also an amazing character. She comes to Crestwood to find her true self, freedom from her oppressive and manipulative mother (and her overprotective brother, who loves her to pieces – and who is in Crestwood as well) and determined to make her own path carrier wise and in life in general. She’s just turned eighteen and doesn’t have many experiences, but she has wisdom that surpasses her age and the gift to see things in depth, despite some naiveté that comes from the inexperience.

All in all, this whole story was an amazing journey for me and gave me all the feels. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out how everything will fall into place. 5 stars.

Sawyer Wolfe was engaged to Minka but in a twist she ended up with Levi. Sawyers father is determined to make marriage matches that benefit the family and gives Sawyer 1 week to pick his own match or daddy dearest will do it for him and he already has his pick in place with Contessa. Sawyer latches onto Rika to corrupt her as revenge back to Levi but also to give himself some breathing room from his father but doesn’t anticipate falling for her and being totally enchanted by her.

Rika is a freshman at Crestwood and Levi Kennedy’s little sister who is ready to get away from her sheltered overprotected family life at college. Finally away from her manipulative mother, she has plans for her life and ready to embark on them. She may come off as innocent or naive but she understands the dark side so it doesn’t take much for Rika to see past all of Sawyer’s BS and the mask that he put on for everyone. I just don’t think Sawyer was ready for that when he thought to use the freshman as a slap back at Levi while defying his father. Rika helped Sawyer to see himself and helped him to grow and I loved seeing him change from a selfish guy that would use women to someone that was really sweet to Rika. I find the possessive/protective dark alpha vibes hot and it was just as hot as the chemistry between the two characters.

I love this author and series and how we still see some of the original characters make appearances in the later books. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings to us.

Pucks & Deceit, the 5th addition to the Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy series, was a refreshing surprise.
The main character, Sawyer, has a major chip on his shoulder and his motivation for pursuing Rika, is revenge. Classified as a dark romance, he’s the rejected fiancé of Minka, from book #1 and Rika’s, the younger sister of Minka’s current fiancé, Levi, I wasn’t sure how it would play out. The words, revenge, dark, and trigger warnings in the description, usually mean a somber, emotional read. It wasn’t at all what I expected, though and I really enjoyed it. In fact, I think it’s my favorite of the series, so far.
The dynamic between the main characters is instantly more than either of them expected. Though they both try to fight it, Sawyer for his revenge plan and Rika because she suspects his intentions, the attraction is too strong. The way Sawyer protects and cherishes Rika is so thoughtful and sweet. No one could resist falling for him.
A bit “wordy” but totally swoony, Pucks & Deceit is a definite recommendation for both sports romance and dark romance fans.

*Please be sure to read the trigger warnings, though they’re pretty mild, in my opinion, in this one.*.

Revenge, desire, and need, all tangled up in family obligation and manipulative plans, in a read that is so good and unexpectedly deep. Sawyer Wolfe is exactly that guy, plays to win, gets what he wants, and never pays the consequences, right up until the innocent college freshman he’s set out to use and ruin, turns his world upside down and it’s fabulous.
This series just continually gets better with every book! I adored Rika, not as innocent as she appears, sees way more than people give her credit for, and embraces a little dark in a way no one saw coming. And I loved Sawyer, he’s definitely dark, definitely a selfish user who takes and never gives, but for Rika he’s a protective, possessive, sweetheart. The plot itself feels simple but the depth that Sawyers past, his ideas of his future, and the feelings Rika conjures give the book make it feel bigger. And let’s face it everyone loves when the bad boy with a reputation for going through women like socks completely topples in love and this book does it well.

Pucks & Deceit is the 5th addition to the Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy series and I feel like it’s getting progressively better. Pucks & Deceit is a stand-alone arranged marriage, dark, hockey, enemies to lovers romance. This is Sawyer and Rika's story. Sawyer appeared in the other books briefly. Sawyer is Liam's brother, and was in an arranged engagement to Minka, who is now in a relationship with Levi. Levi is Rika’s brother. The story is about revenge, but it becomes more than that when Sawyer's feelings about Rika change. The dynamic between the main characters is instantly more than either of them expected. There were twists I didn't see coming along with lots of steam and drama. I absolutely LOVED these characters arcs, and also their intense connection. Sawyer and Rika. Sawyer appeared in the other books briefly. Sawyer was engaged to Minka (forced engagement from when they were kids), who is now in a relationship with Levi. Levi is Rika’s brother. Sawyer hates Levi because he took Minka from him, and he is determined to make him pay. Minka graduated high school early and was accepted to Crestwood. She is a brilliant student and is determined to make something for herself without being manipulated and oppressed by her mother. She runs into Sawyer and they have an instant connection. She just wants him, but he is fighting it because he wants to make Levi pay but he can’t help himself when it comes to her.

I have been really enjoying this series. I loved all the possessive, obsessed hockey players who are obsessed with their person. I loved reading this book especially when other characters from the previous books appears in this one. The spice was also hot as hell as well.

Sawyer’s life has been planned and his marriage arranged until she walked away. Now he finds himself about to face another arranged marriage when he decides to take matters into his own hands by convincing Rika to marry him. This will give him the time he needs and allow him to get revenge on the man his ex-fiancé chose as Rika is his sister.

Rika is feeling stifled by her brother’s need to protect her as attending Crestwood was supposed to be her chance at independence. She has heard everything about Sawyer and his past but she sees a different side of him however not everyone is happy they are together and will do whatever is necessary to keep them apart.

Sawyer had an agenda when it came to Rika, but he soon realizes that she is totally different than he thought and that only intrigues him more. What started out as a way to avoid an arranged marriage turns into a love he wasn’t expecting and now he will do whatever is necessary to protect her.

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

I have been looking forward to Sawyer's story, and I absolutely LOVE his redemption arc. Also, since we've met Rika, I have loved her character as well. She is so strong and determined.

When they both find themselves as new students at Crestwood, with their own unique situations - Rika wanting to settle into her independence and find who she is now that she is out from under her mother's thumb; and Sawyer having to find his own wife in one week or have one forced on him by his Dad - they find a connection with each other, that has superbly profound impacts and results for bother of them, and for all connected to them.

I absolutely LOVED these characters arcs, and also their intense connection. They worked together SO well, and appreciated how they truly brought out the best in each other.

The warning about some knife play in the warning doesn’t apply to this story. Dark-ish since Sawyer does something to his father I’d never expect the guy could do, what have been nice if we could have viewed that happening and if Sawyer ever told his brother and Liam’s reaction, that would have made the story complete. There was violence towards Rika, she was roughly hit around, chocked by 2 people but it wasn’t from Sawyer nor any team mates or anyone from campus. Levi, her brother was in this a lot trying to keep her away from Sawyer and Mika saying her 2 cents in to protect Rika but she also knows about giving space to her that Levi don’t seem to comprehend. We see a whole different Sawyer, what secrets he keeps hidden, why he craves by how his reputation was based on and what his truly wants/needs someone to accept.
We got to read Ivy’s weird wedding but why not Rika’s???

I was a little late to the Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy series and didn't start till a later book but now I never want to let it go. It's definitely not one of the darkest books I've read but there are trigger warnings that readers should be aware of before delving in. Our MMC is Sawyer Wolfe, the younger brother of Liam. He was the guy who was engaged to Minka before she ended up with Levi instead. Our FMC is Rika Kennedy, the younger sister of Levi. I mean just telling you that, you know there is going to be some drama along the way.

The story is about revenge, but it becomes more than that when feelings get in the way and how Sawyer feels about Rika changes along the way. She becomes more to him than just a way to piss off her brother. It doesn't help that Sawyer's dad is a total d0uchebag.

Loved this book from start to finish and can't wait for more in the series.

I’ve never really read any ice hockey romance and this one was a brilliant one to start with!
Sawyer is the perfect book boyfriend..morally grey with a massive heart, even if it is well hidden. As one of the Wolfe family, everything is done for the pack, even marriage. Sawyer is rebellious and a player until the lovely Rika walks into his life.

Rika has come to Crestwood to get away from her oppressive home life and just wants to live a full life. The sister of another hockey player in the Titans team, she gets more than she ever dreamed or bargained for when she meets sawyer.
I love the progression in their relationship and it was steamy!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one and have several of the books in this series to read after this one. This one was a standalone so it was a great one to start with.

Pucks & Deceit is Book 5 of The Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy Series, and it's another hot and steamy, OTT, enemies-to-lovers, dark hockey romance. Sawyer is Liam's younger brother. He was supposed to marry Minka, but Levi ended up with her. Now, he wants revenge by seducing Rika, Levi's younger sister. OMG, I thought I loved the last book, but this might be the new favorite. I didn't think I'd like Sawyer, but here we are. He ends up falling for the sweet and determined Rika, who has no blinders when it comes to Sawyer and his shenanigans. There were twists I didn't see coming along with lots of steam and drama. This couple was perfect for each other!!! I loved it and can't wait for the next installment!!! This series is so dark and delicious!!!!.

I'll be honest I did not have high hopes for this book. Because what I learned about Sawyer from previous books I didn't think I was going to like him. Turned out I love him. He's completely misunderstood. Living under the constant pressure of his father and the resentment from his father because of the loss of his mom giving birth to him. Then comes along Rika who he planned to use to get back at Levi. He wasn't expecting her to see past his reputation down to the real him. I love them as a couple. I love his possessive protective stance when it comes to her. I really wish there would have been a epilogue showing them starting a family.

If you read book one Skates & Stones then you know who Sawyer is, if you haven't read it I suggest you go back and read it so you understand why Sawyer is the way he is. Sawyer is determined to get revenge against Levi Kennedy so he sets his sites on Rika, Levi's sister. Little did he know he would fall for Rika and she would be the calm he needed in his life. This is a page turning, enemies to lovers story with family drama, revenge, steam, and unexpected twists that make this a great read. I loved that we got Sawyer's story and I was cheering him on to finally get his happily ever after. Pucks & Deceit is book five of The Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy series and I look forward to reading the next book.

Started reading in the middle of the series and although there were some parts that clearly referenced previous books, it was still a readable story. It was fast paced & a quick read. Some of the smut scenes were a bit confusing and the packing of the book is FAST. Like I’m not even sure a whole week passes during the whole book. It is also SUPER cheesy but thats ok And then randomly at the very end they became murderers?? And that was like their new kink? IDK it was VERY sudden and all the witnesses (her brother Levi) were almost too chill with the murdering, he like even kinda gives his approval by saying like “I see what he is willing to do for u” like what??? Lol. But this book as good as long as you don’t take it too seriously at all, kinda gives novella vibes.

I thought the last book was intense but, this one topped it!
I had a preconceived idea of what Sawyer was like but, his character in this book blew me away.
Sawyer is super intense and serious but he doesn’t show the rest of the world what he is like inside.
I won’t talk about what happens because, if you want to get the best out of this story you need to start reading it with a blank slate.
I will say that the one thing I like about this book is the dialogue. It is fresh, fun and clever and Rika is a great match for Sawyer and keeps him on his toes.
This is simultaneously both a fun and serious read, with a lot of great moments.
I honestly could not put it down!

The fifth anticipated CEH romance featuring Sawyer and Rika. Each of them have pasts that haunt them and they ultimately find solace in each other. I enjoyed seeing the depths of Sawyer revealed (definitely need to read prior books in this series). Rika’s acceptance of Sawyer was perfect and what he needed to find himself. I couldn’t put it down-cheered for the literal THYD that obsessed him, got teary for the heartfelt moments between the two, gasped at the unexpected twists and sighed at their HEA. Can’t wait for the next in this series.

We’ve seen Sawyer the inveterate playboy, but we hadn’t seen Sawyer the man, until now. And I think it really took Rika to bring that out in him. Because even though Sawyer thought he would ‘pull one over’ on everyone with Rika, for every chink in her armor that he exploited, she pulled a brick from his own defenses. I loved that Rika was able to see him, and value him, for all the things that everyone else overlooked or, worse yet, blamed him for. Sawyer is a humbler individual at the end of this book, but that’s also made him stronger.

This is book 4 in the Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy series, the books are stand alone books but the whole series intertwines with characters and I strongly recommend reading in order to understand the background for relationships. OK lets dive in, I am obsessed with this series so far I can never get enough. In Pucks & Deceit we follow along with the alluring Sawyer Wolfe, our MMC, and Rika Kennedy, the MFC. Sawyer is the younger brother to Liam Wolfe from book 3 and Sawyer is the definition of play boy hockey stud with an ego out of this world, and red flags that make you love him more. Rika Kennedy is the younger sister of Levi Kennedy from book 1, and she is the innocent and sweet hearted girl looking to escape the clutches of an over protected life. I could not help but love the dynamic of the younger sibling duo finding eachother in this book. Sawyer seeks to corrupts Rika for his revenge without realizing that Rika is the one who finally see's him for who he is and doesn't shy away from his darkness. Rika finds solace in the possession and down right obsession with Sawyer that makes her feel like she is living life to the fullest at every second. As always we got some serious dark romance vibes with this book, we got some hockey vibes that are always written so well by Heather and one of my favourite tropes, a solid slow burn! The spice in this one really amped up and had me loving it ❤️ Can not wait to see what we get next from the Crestwood series 🤩

Wow! Heather C. Myers has done it again. Pucks & Deceit was another fantastic read in the Crestwood Elite Hockey Academy Series. I was hooked until the very last page. I love hockey so I was excited to read the entire series. Sawyer will not stop until her gets revenge because Levi ended up married to Sawyer's fiancee Minka Sawyer is determined to destroy Levi by corrupting his younger sister Rika but of course feelings get in the way. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and you won''t be able to put it down.

Received as an ARC.

🏒 College romance
🏒 Ice hockey
🏒 Brother’s teammate
🏒 Dark romance
🏒 Plenty of red flags 🚩

And we’re back for instalment number 5 in the Crestwood Elite series, at this point I’m just flying through them the minute they land in my grabby little hands 😅 I think this may have been my favourite of the series so far. The characters were once again really well written and thought out with a fantastic overarching storyline to keep you flipping through those pages like nobodies business.

I can’t wait for the next book!

This was Sawyer Rika’s story. Sawyer got expelled from his university and forced to enroll in Crestwood. His last chance. Plus, his father is insisting he get married. Rika Kennedy is young, naive, and innocent. She looks up at him with those big green eyes like he’s a god. He’ll force her into a situation where she has to marry him. Then break her heart. And it’ll be Levi’s fault for stealing his fiancée. But can he keep to the plan and not something stupid like fall in love with her? An emotional roller coaster for me. I liked the book fine. I get that Levi was like the overprotective brother, but the way he and his girlfriend treated Rika was just not it to me.
I liked Swayer fine, but what he at the and of the book said to Rika that he was going to kill her and himself if she ever left him was just a bit to crazy to me and a tat bit creepy.
I also noticed that he never told Rika that he infact did start seeing her to get back at Levi. I whould have liked it if that had been addressed or that he at least told her.

Sawyers last chance is at crestwood, but with his father breathing down his neck about getting married, he has a plan that will get him a wife and revenge on the man who stole his intended. Rika, is levis sister, fed up of being told what to do by her family, she takes matters into her own hands, she knows Sawyers reputation but will she fall for his trap or will his trap come tumbling down on him? Well written engaging steamy, dark desires and more a great addition to the series.

Absolutely loved this complex and multifaceted story.
It’s an arranged marriage, forbidden romance trope and while the main characters are young they are surprisingly reflective and mature in many ways.
It’s my first encounter with Crestwood academy but I am definitely reading the others books in the series.

Absolutely loved this book. All of the characters showed so much growth throughout the story - especially Rika and her self-confidence, thanks primarily to Sawyer's encouragement! The ending to the story was perfect for Rika and Sawyer.
