An all-new steamy and angsty billionaire arranged marriage romance from the USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Tracy Lorraine.

As the daughter of a powerful businessman, I wasn’t expecting to inherit much when my father suddenly passed.

There was only one thing I truly wanted.

The cottage— the only place that ever felt like home.

But it turns out that I got a lot more than I bargained for.

Kingston Callahan.

Arrogant, egotistical, power-hungry, demanding and all the other not-so-charming attributes I despised.

He’s also my brother’s best friend.

And now, thanks to my dearly departed father, my husband for the next year.

He’s everything I hate about the life I was born into. Everything I’m not.

One short year...three hundred and sixty-five days in return for the life I've always dreamed of.

It’s a merger, not a marriage, but I’m not prepared for the hunger Kingston uncovers with his touch.

It’ll all be over soon, just so long as I remember not to catch real feelings for my fake husband while we’re pretending.

Dear reader,

By His Vow is a standalone enemies to lovers, brother's best friend romance set in the Callahan Billionaires world.

I really enjoyed this. I'm a sucker for a good arranged marriage/marriage of convenience scenario and this delivered well on that score. I also appreciated that some effort was put into building their relationship. Some day-to-day transitions were a little overdone and could have been spread out more off the page to achieve that build more efficiently (and effectively, in my opinion) but again, I really appreciated the effort and the resulting buy-in it gave me.

I will definitely continue the series.

I hated this book…

Just once. Just once! I wish the heroine would walk away. Forget the money and leave with the clothes on her back. I’d rather she snuff herself than give in to sexual manipulation. Why did she have to give in? I’m so sick of women being sold into bondage by their fathers! Why can’t she tell the man to get stuffed and go make her own fortune? Why does she have to have a damned baby?
Why can’t she have any self respect and ethics?

I feel like the only reason I continued to read this book was to torture myself.

My main issues with the book;
•After first meeting (yes they have known each other for years and have “hated” each other) they already are talking about their physical attraction to one another
•As soon as the female lead is touched, she just melts and gives in
•the amount of times I read “king” Tatum breathed/ sighed/ gasped/ said.
• it was so repetitive. The amount of times miles and Kingston discussed kingstons feelings for Tatum and how he denied it and vice versa.
•over 900 pages but a whole lot of nothing
• every few pages they were having sex, even though they hated each other and the smut wasn’t even good
• please see previous point; because of the amount of smut there was no real plot besides kingstons jealousy towards Cory that didn’t accumulate to anything and the pregnancy plot that was resolved very quickly.
• he was actually very controlling; making her move, making her take his car but she also didn’t stand up for herself very well (I do like possessive alpha leads if they are actually done well- this was not)
• I feel like someone said this was enemies to lovers; it is not. It’s actually just insta love.
• it would’ve been nice if the female lead was logical and stuck to what she said. If you’re not gonna have see, don’t have it and put up a good fight at least and the readers could have a fun back and forth at least.
• once they reunite, they don’t even talk they just instantly have sex. Isn’t that so romantic? No love declaration or discussion about why Tatum left- that must mean Kingston cared so much about Tatum that he couldn’t even wait five minutes. AND SHE ACTUALLY GIVES IN. Girl stand up.
•and all this crying about a cottage in Cotswold. Girl didn’t even last two weeks there. WEAK.
• and when she actually vocalises something like wanting to get her cat; he makes her put it off. She even classifies it as “following orders.” (I will admit the cat was waiting for her inside).
•”Callahan men breed men” and the refusal to consider a girl; just some casual misogyny.
• Tatum having to fight to go to the bathroom before going to the hospital during active labour; maybe listen to the pregnant woman?
• despite Kingston “researching” everything to do with pregnancy, he was absolutely useless- he should’ve known the baby doesn’t usually pop out straight away (in this case, it kinda did but that’s just unrealistic)
• Kingston choosing the baby name; sorry did you give birth?? Were you pregnant for nine months??

One good thing is I think at least lorelai stands on business.

One will.
Two people.
Three goals.

Tate only wants one thing from her father’s will… a getaway cottage she’s loved forever. Unfortunately that’s not the only thing her father wanted to give her. Kingston is her brother’s best friend and part of a powerful family. He’s the man Tate has to marry to get her beloved cottage.

I loved Kingston and his ways. He’s bossy, overbearing and not going to get his way easily.

This is a brother’s best friend, arranged marriage with all the feels. It made me laugh, pull my hair out and swoon.

By His Vow is by far my favorite read of the year so far!
It’s a long book but every single page was needed to tell this story well. This book is a little different than most of Tracy’s books but by no surprise she knocked it out of the park!
Enemies to Lovers
Brothers Best Friend
Arranged Marriage
Billionaire
Tatum and Kingston were the perfect couple to kick off this new series ❤️

Difficult review to write

I absolutely love everything I’ve read from Tracy, she’s easily one of my favorite authors, so the fact that I didn’t love this one breaks my heart.

Kingston and Tatum’s story is a long one and let me tell you, it felt that long. There wasn’t really much going on, very repetitive, different day (or page), same story.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Tatum, the girl made a choice to enter into an arranged marriage but fought it tooth and nail. Lady…you signed the agreement, woman up and own it. There’s a difference between a phenomenal, fierce heroine (which Tracy has done in spades with other books) and one that is just over the top ridiculous, which Tatum certainly is. Kingston called her a brat on several occasions, and the shoe fits!

There’s also some interesting word choices, I know it’s because Tracy is in England, but the story is based on Chicago, so that was a little tricky at times. Example: Diary is used when referring to a shared calendar (or I’m guessing that’s what it is).

This is definitely a SLOOOOOW BURN, but the spice really picks up once they give in.

Will I read the rest of the series? Yes, absolutely, still love Tracy, this was just a miss for me.

This was ... a book. A very long book that didn't need to be nearly this long for this story. But it also wasn't horrible.

The beginning sucked ... the dad telling Tate she could have the cottage then going "LOL, jk. I'm going to manipulate you one more time even in death" made me spend far too much time wondering if it is legal (Google's best guess is that it isn't). We also don't find out why they hate each other but I'm not convinced King actually hates her since he pretty much falls right into the boyfriend role with no issue and only seems to spar with her for fun.

I also didn't understand all the mom angst. I figured it was leading somewhere for both MCs but it literally never did. So that was a waste of pages/words as well.

Unpopular opinion: Tate is also a spoiled brat. She leads Cory on (and despite her protests, it sounds like she's done it for a long time), she admits her brother is having a hard time but doesn't actually do anything to help - even talk to him, and whenever she gets scared she just automatically runs. The woman found out she was pregnant and decided to book it to England then send him divorce papers without a word. Like get out of here with that childlike behavior ... maybe that's why your dad treated you that way, not because you're a woman. King deserved a lot better. He consistently showed her he was all in and she kept ignoring it ... when he wanted to truly tell her, she even said no.

Also, naming a kid Princeton when your name is Kingston is the most rich person move ever.

The cover made me think this book was going to be a little cringe, but the reviews got me reading and so glad that I did.

This is by far the longest book I’ve read, with damn near 700 kindle pages, and I couldn’t put it down.

I felt all the fears and anxiety that Tate was feeling.
I felt Kingston mind spinning trying to figure out how to express his feelings.
I felt their spark, their chemistry.
I felt the stress put on Miles with their father’s passing (you learn that page 1 that’s not a spoiler) and him trying to be a good brother.

This story wasn’t rushed, it builds you up to everything that happens. Even the epilogue was longer than most, and gives closure. I definitely loved King and Tates story.

if i could give this book less than one star, i would. i called it from the beginning. when kingston made his weird little misogynistic comments i thought he was gonna redeem himself but i couldn’t even finish he fucking book. i don’t want to nor do i care to and i don’t feel bad at all for saying that tatum was so fucking annoying. she’s so picky and idk if it’s just the apathy, or wtv the fuck it’s called, in me i genuinely believe that this bitch was so weak. like babe if im given the option to either lose all my shit or have to marry someone for A YEAR. A WHOLE FUCLING YEAR. to get something i want, i’m taking the lose everything option because hello??? just buy a fucking plane ticket before u refuse and leave the fucking country. set everything up before u say no so that u acc have the option to say no.. keep in mind this bitch spends like the whole first 10 chapters talking about how much she hates him and then all of the sudden she needs him by her side… like babe you’ve hated him ur entire life and all of the sudden you’re all mushy mushy. she was literally more of an opp than kingston was himself but don’t venerate get me started on him. bruh u mean to tell me that after u have a REPEATED fight w ur fiancée, yall fight every other chapter…, u decide to go out IN PUBLIC w another female, have a nice romantic dinner, then come home drunk and all u can think abt is fucking ur not even wife. keep in mind this fucking slut is drunk too she’s stumbling and shit but when he comes in she’s genuinely asleep. i’ve gotten off topic, moral of the story is THIS MOFO TRIES TO FUGG HER. IDK IF THAT COUNTS AS 🍇but it sure feels like ur trying to take advantage of ur not even wife while she’s drunk. even if u didn’t know she was drunk she literally never consented to u sticking ur 🐓 in her while she’s asleep. most ppl talk about that shit or just trust each other. but she can’t even trust u to take her out for the weekend with no benefits and u think she’s gonna trust you to let u do that……RED FLAGS ALL AROUND GUYS.

forced myself to finish

I kept hoping this book would get better but it never did. My biggest issue with the book was the dubious consent during multiple intimate scenes. The female lead drank a lot to the point of passing out and her “husband” just took way too many liberties in my opinion. From fully undressing her while she was completely passed out to having actual intimacy with her while she was so out of it she actually thought it was a dream the next day. THATS NOT SEXY it’s super cringey. He was controlling and disrespectful the entire book and she just let him walk all over her for the most part. He was not the alpha male we all love to read about he was just a gross. Oh and the way he and his brothers talked about her IN FRONT OF HER BROTHER was disgusting.0/10 do not recommend.

it was entirely too long for the amount of plot it had. i had to go see a few memes in order to rejuice my brain to get the will to continue the book due to the lag. the first half was a dragfest, but the book does pick up in the second half blessedly, and even though those looking for angst will be disappointed, those that want a dramafree sweet wholesome relaxing long read will find this book their home for all the hours it will take to complete it. normal people will love this ;)

DNF this. Tatum was so annoying. Every chapter was the same. I also absolutely HATE when one of the MCs is mad and they end up having sex?? Like no talking we just have sex and move on? No. Also this book needed an American editor. Lots of British words for a book that takes place in America with two American MCs

This book was good, but it was so long. It felt kind of repetitive and there wasn’t too much going on for it to be a nearly 700 page book. Other than that, I liked Tatum and Kingston. I always love the enemies to lovers romance and that aspect didn’t disappoint. Kingston’s nickname for Tatum is baby or brat and Tatum definitely fit the bill.

I was disappointed that there was no back story as to why they don’t get along, besides the fact that Tatum thinks Kingston is an a**hole. It would’ve been better if there were specific moments from their childhood that prove her right, otherwise, it’s a he said she said kind of situation. We did find out that Kingston had one of Tatum’s swimsuits from when they were younger, so it feels like that love/hate relationship was only one-sided.

Overall I liked the book. I may continue with the other Callahan brothers’ books, but I haven’t decided yet.

So good!

Tatum and Kingston weren't best friends but he would do anything for her,her father dies and at the reading of the will she fines out how her father plays with her emotions from the grave, she so wants the cottage so bad that she would do anything for it,even a marriage for a year!Kingston does everything to keep her happy and for awhile it looks like everything is OK but that soon changes with their life and their work life. One day she just leaves,he is heartbroken and doesn't know what he did wrong,he gives her time and space but it killing him and certain paper work doesn't help much.Tatum fines that she is having a peanut and she is so happy and she truly loves King but she afraid .King can't take no more and chases her down, they talk and take time for themselves and the baby comes up and Tatum has nothing to worry about, this ended in a very good way, where they do love each other so much and don't want to give up but stand by each other even when the year ends!

The start of a new series and I already can't wait for more - and one of the things I loved... This is a BIG book, 600+ pages - love it!

Now, back to the story..
Tatums dad has passed and they're at the reading of the will. They didn't have a good relationship - he was quite the knob and real old school where women are concerned so she wasn't treated the way she should've been, especially at work.
Anyway, at the reading she's in for a shock - marry her enemy or loose it all 🤦🏻‍♀️

There's secrets regarding her dad, there's unresolved issues, there's a love-to-hate relationship between her and Kingston, a lot of banter, sizzling chemistry, emotions galore and a vicious cat - what more could you want?!

Really enjoyed it.

Wow!
OMG! Fantastic! loved this so much & had to force myself to put it down at times it's different from Tracy's other books & I'm already desperate for the next book.
Even though he's dead Tate's father is still punishing not only by denying her her Auntie's cottage she's loved since childhood. There is a clause that will let her have what she's dreamed of though it comes at a price, she can have the cottage providing she marries Kingston Callaghan & stay married for a year or she will walk away with NOTHING no home, job, money. Kingston has been her big brother's best friend since childhood he is arrogant, rich playboy, hot & even though she's fancied him for years she hates him just as much. Kingston already knew what the will was going to say since their fathers were friends & are merging companies so he will be working with his best friend Miles but he's happy about having to be married to Tate & can't wait to make her his wife. Their story is sassy, flirty, banter, mega steamy, emotional, betrayal, emotional & sometimes I wanted to give them a slap to make them admit how they feel about each other.

Knowing this author I know already that I'm going to love Kian & Lori's story..can't wait.

WTAF is this book? First of all, it has absolutely no need to be the length of a fantasy book. I did not need nearly 700 pages of Kingston and Tatum's bullsh*t and whining. So many times I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. Throughout the ENTIRE book, Kingston treated Tatum like she was beneath him. He never once took the opportunity to listen to what she was saying and how she was feeling. Not only did he dismiss her feelings and emotions, but Tatum dismissed them herself as well. I had to do a double check to see if the author was a male because Tatum was portrayed as nothing more than a woman controlled by her emotions and hormones. WTF!? Considering how horrible her life was and how much her father controlled it, she had every right to feel the way she felt. Instead of understanding and exploring the cause of her outbursts, Kingston basically just said she's a girl so she has to get over it. The whole not allowing her to have coffee, taking her choice away - annoying. Who is he to decide what she eats or drinks. Kingston was an asshole the majority of the book simply because of how he treated and manipulated Tatum. She deserved better that what she got.

Wow. 10/10.

I could not put this book down. The story and characters are perfect. Tatum is so strong willed and I loved watching her transformation. Kingston is not perfect but he will have you swooning the moment you read about him. The ending of the book can pull at your heartstrings. Grab tissues. One of my best reads of this year.

POV:Dual
Tatum & Kingston

First book in a new series. This was a surprise live release.

Not having the best father - daughter relationship. Tatum Warner wasn't enough in her father's eyes just because she was female. His backwards, old fashioned way of thinking women were second class citizens. But Tatum fought back, she's exceptionally strong willed, her last name holds power, but she doesn't use it. She's happy just being a manager in her fathers company.
But when her father passes unexpectedly she doesn't know how to feel. She didn't know the man in the way her mother and brother, Miles did. Even though she disliked him, he did promise her the one thing she's ever wanted, her Aunts cottage in the english countryside that she spent many enjoyable holidays at, where she wanted to raise a family, leaving Chicago behind. Her life is about to change when her father puts a condition in his will before she can inherit it. She's to marry Kingston Callahan, her brothers best friend, her fathers best friends Son, arrogant, power hungry, player. Oh, and they don't see eye-to-eye, never have since they were kids. So, it's either, marry a man she despises for a year, merge the two companies and get the cottage, or she loses everything, her job, trust fund, car, apartment.

Kingston Callahan, being the oldest comes with an image, expectations, he's never had the desire to marry, but he knew it was inevitable. Thinking that his future wife would have to look good on his arm, come from a well to do family, Tatum doesn't check half his boxes, sure on paper she's perfect, powerful last name, beautiful, but she drives him crazy. Tatum's feisty, does what she wants, doesn't take orders well. He reminds himself it's a merger, not a marriage.

Now with Kingston being her boss, she's going to have to play nice. In public she'll put on a great show that they're all lovey-dovey, in private they'll do what they've been doing all these years, bickering back and forth. After all, it is an arranged marriage of convenience.
It's only a year that they'll have to be married for, then she can have the life she wants.

Kingston does like her feistiness. Both him and her brother, Miles know damn fine that she should be higher up in the company that she already is, Kingston knows her worth, but be doubts Miles knows what she does for the company.
There's a mutual appreciation for the others good looks, a good old fashioned hate f**k wouldn't sort out. But they just irritate each other. The chemistry between them is smoking.
The comedic banter between everyone, especially when Griz (the cat) is involved it's hilarious. This was gripping from the start. I did feel for Tatum and get a bit emotional a few tears did escape.
Looking forward to the next Callahan brother.

Out-God damn-standing! Kingston and Tatum are literal fire on the page with scathing banter and blazing hot chemistry, the tension between them is completely insane, their push and pull like a livewire, and the explosion when they finally give in literal addictive magic. Throw in the ridiculously cute quiet moments they share, the intuitive support they give each other, and all the small ways they say a lot without saying anything at all and you get this flawlessly written must read of a billionaire romance.
Marry the world’s most arrogant playboy, the guy who has been her enemy for as long as she can remember or walk away with nothing at all. That’s the choice Tatum is facing now that her father has passed, and the will has been read. She hadn’t expected much of anything, all she’d wanted was the little cottage she’d always loved. Now she’s saddled with the egotistical, power-hungry, and way too demanding Kingston Callahan. For the next year! He represents everything she’s never wanted, the very life she wants that cottage to escape. But it’s only one year, she can do anything for one year if it means finally getting her freedom. All she has to do is never let Kingston Callahan touch her, because he makes her feel a hunger she’s never known, and not catch any feelings for the cretin. Should be easy right?
Had a few moments while reading this where I was waiting for either me or my kindle to burst into flames, the tension and chemistry is just that good between Kingston and Tatum. And while that is a huge selling point in this book for me, I loved how much depth these two had, they are very well written characters with so many different facets to them. The book definitely has that arranged marriage old school money vibe at the start and I was really pleasantly surprised by how forward thinking and willing to see Tatum as brilliant at her job both Kingston and Tatum’s brother were, it felt like it took the arranged marriage trope and gave it a makeover. Definitely a book worth binge reading between Kingston and Tatum, her brother and best friend, and his brother’s, who are more than entertaining and intriguing. It’s a book that hits all the right notes and does it really well.
