Grounded is a book of powerful true journey of life filled with full of sorrow, challenges and a stand against injustice.
This book neatly opens up the story of man who lost his passionate career even before he started.
His vision impairment and financial burden brings us a clear suffering of an honest man.
It pains our heart throught the reading of the book. But it must be accepted that it also inspires us through Tajo Amar Beharry, a man of determination, dedication, and passion. Inspite of his tragedy he is stable both mentally and emotionally.
He proves that he is a man who never give up his fight for his justice.
This story will sure inspire us to fight a battle for our destinies.
I loved the fact that the author has acknowledged all those who helped him in overcoming his sufferings with a gratitude and respect.
By bringing out his life journey, he has a great hope not only for his justice but also others to have courage to fight for justice when they are treated unfairly.
“Grounded: One Eye Open”, by Tajo Amar Beharry, is a memoir of the author's journey over three decades for justice, facing legal battles and emotional turmoil. It's more than just a personal story. Throughout his journey, we can understand the emotional toll it took on him after his eye injury in a work-related accident leaving him blind yet unwavering support from his family, his spirit remains undimmed showing his resilience as he navigates the complexities of the legal system. The narrative is raw and honest. The beginning of the story took some time to draw me in. I felt the book could use some editing, there are many places where I thought it was repetitive and lengthy.
The core message is clear: the fight for truth, no matter how long, and overall it was a good read. I would recommend this to readers who enjoy memoirs and real-life stories.
Tajo Amar Beharry, born in Trinidad, West Indies, loved his family a lot. Tajo shares his story to spread the notice about his experience with airlines and its dark side. The core and only intention of the book is to make people aware of the injustice that happened and to show how perseverance and resilience can lead one to success. Despite these challenges, he ultimately achieved success, which is celebrated in this heartfelt memoir. He proves that he is a man who never gives up his fight for his justice.
This book neatly opens up the story of a man who lost his passionate career before he started. I liked how other aspects of his life like family were weighed equally and cherished even in the toughest times. The writing feels earnest as if having a conversation with the author himself. It gives the reader a positive thinking that the author faced even after so many hardships. I loved the fact that the author acknowledged all those who helped him in overcoming his sufferings with gratitude and respect.
While the story is compelling, the emotional aspect could have been stronger. This story was a reminder that corporations very rarely put their employees and their customers at the core of their journey.
Grounded : one eye open” presents the story of three decade long journey of justice. Tajo Amar is not specialised in the field of writing but the way he presented his story tells otherwise. The book clearly discloses his passion and determination towards writing this autobiography. The book is filled with pain and various challenges he faced throughout his journey as well as the emotional troubles. The story will make you admire the author’s will power to fight for his dreams and achieve them. The book is not very well written from the literature point of view but if you ignore that factor and give it a try, it’s a good read as it is more of a personal story of author. Every person who is into autobiographies or share the same field of interest should read this book once.
The author was transparent with his struggles. He talked in great detail about the hardships and challenges he faced in his childhood as well as after the disaster. This honesty gave the memoir an authentic and realistic tone. While the writing style was simple and straightforward, I couldn't really connect with the story due to repetitive and overly detailed nature. I was able to get the message the author conveyed through the book, but it could have been portrayed in a better way. Overall, the book was great in terms of story. You can definitely pick this one up, especially if you are currently facing hardships and seeking inspiration.

✈️This book was written in a very raw and authentic manner without any ornamental language that very authentically represents the physical and emotional pain of injury and torment of his loss resonating through time and space and clearly portrays his unquenchable fire of extreme resilience and determination that stands testament to unbreakable bond between the human spirit and pursuit of truth. ⚖️

Have you ever felt like you're up against insurmountable odds, fighting a battle that never seems to end? Tajo Amar Beharry's "Grounded: One Eye Open" takes you on such a journey, spanning three decades of relentless pursuit of justice. It's not just a memoir; it's a saga of resilience and determination. This book had me hooked from the first page, and I couldn't wait to see how Beharry's incredible story unfolded.
In "Grounded: One Eye Open," Beharry recounts his life-altering accident that left him partially blind and the ensuing legal battle against the airline responsible. Imagine being a pilot, loving your job, and then suddenly losing vision in one eye due to a work-related incident. The airline denies liability, and you're left to fight for justice. This book chronicles Beharry's three-decade-long fight against corporate malfeasance and a flawed judicial system. His story is packed with courtroom drama, personal hardships, and moments of triumph that will keep you turning the pages.
Beharry's writing is straightforward and earnest, making you feel like you're sitting across from him as he tells his story. It's raw and real, but at times, it gets a bit repetitive. Some sections feel like déjà vu, with phrases and descriptions cropping up again and again. A tighter edit could have polished these rough edges, but the authenticity of Beharry's voice shines through, giving the narrative a heartfelt touch.
Beharry himself is the heart and soul of this memoir. His determination and resilience are nothing short of inspiring. The supporting characters, including legal professionals and family members, add depth to the narrative, showcasing the power of solidarity and support. The book delves into significant themes like justice, resilience, and the fight against corporate greed, making it not just a personal story but a universal one.
The book's structure mirrors the roller-coaster ride of Beharry's legal battles. It's full of twists and turns, with highs that make you cheer and lows that break your heart. The pacing can be uneven, especially with the repetitive parts, but the core story is so compelling that you stick with it. The chronological narrative helps keep things clear, even when the legal jargon gets dense.
At its core, "Grounded: One Eye Open" is about the pursuit of justice and the resilience needed to achieve it. Beharry's fight against the airline company is a stark reminder of the systemic failures that prioritize profit over people. This book is a rallying cry for anyone facing similar battles, urging us to stand up, speak out, and never give up.
Beharry's story is a roller-coaster of emotions. I felt anger at the injustices he faced, empathy for his struggles, and triumph in his moments of victory. It's a deeply moving account that makes you reflect on your own battles and the strength required to overcome them. The book's biggest strength is its inspirational message. Beharry's resilience and unwavering determination are incredibly motivating. His detailed account of the legal process offers valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals fighting against powerful corporations. The emotional honesty and transparency in his writing are also commendable, making the reader feel connected to his journey.
The repetition in the writing and the lack of narrative depth in some areas are notable weaknesses. Some sections could benefit from more detailed descriptions and varied language to maintain reader engagement. Additionally, the book's length could be reduced to eliminate redundancies and enhance its overall readability.
"Grounded: One Eye Open" struck a chord with me. Beharry's unwavering determination in the face of immense adversity is truly inspiring. While the writing style may not appeal to everyone, the book's core message and the emotional journey it offers make it a worthwhile read. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for one's rights and the impact that one determined individual can have.
If you're looking for a story that will inspire you to keep fighting, no matter the odds, "Grounded: One Eye Open" is the book for you. Tajo Amar Beharry's journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the pursuit of justice. Despite its flaws, this memoir is a compelling and emotional read that will leave you thinking long after you've turned the last page. So, pick it up, dive in, and let Beharry's story ignite your own fight for what's right.
Tajo Amar Beharry's "Grounded: One Eye Open" is more than just a memoir; it's a gripping narrative of resilience, determination, and the relentless pursuit of justice. The book takes readers on a rollercoaster journey through the author's life, marked by both soaring highs as a pilot and the devastating lows of a wrongful accusation. This isn't merely a story of personal struggle but a poignant commentary on the complexities of the legal system and the unwavering human spirit.
Once soaring through the skies as a skilled pilot, Tajo's world came crashing down when a workplace injury left him with severe vision impairment. This sudden, life-altering event forced him to relinquish his beloved career, leaving him grounded in a reality he never imagined. The physical and emotional toll of the accident was compounded by a relentless battle for justice. Denied compensation for his injury for an astonishing thirty years, Tajo's journey became a grueling odyssey through the labyrinth of legal systems. His story is a stark expose of the challenges faced by those who dare to challenge corporate giants.
Beyond the legal battle, the memoir offers a glimpse into Tajo's personal journey of healing and growth. It's a story of overcoming adversity, finding strength in vulnerability, and discovering new purpose in life. Tajo's unwavering spirit serves as an inspiration to anyone who has faced setbacks, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, hope and resilience can prevail. His memoir is not just a personal narrative; it's a call to action, urging readers to stand up against injustice and to never give up hope.
The author doesn't shy away from sharing the emotional turmoil and challenges he faced. His candidness creates a powerful connection with the reader. From the initial shock of a life-altering injury to the subsequent decades-long battle for justice, the author doesn't shy away from the depths of despair. The book is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of injustice on an individual's life. Yet, amidst the darkness, there's an indomitable spirit. Tajo's resilience is awe-inspiring. His determination to seek justice, even in the face of countless setbacks, is a powerful message of hope.
The writing style is straightforward and accessible, making the book engaging for a wide audience. His ability to convey complex emotions and legal intricacies in a clear and understandable manner is commendable. The narrative is presented in a first-person perspective, allowing readers an intimate glimpse into the author's thoughts and feelings. It employs a pacing strategy that effectively mirrors the author's life experiences. The narrative accelerates during the exhilarating chapters detailing Tajo's career as a pilot. Conversely, the pace slows down considerably when the author delves into the complexities of his legal ordeal showcasing time taking judiciary.
In conclusion it is a powerful testament to the indomitable human spirit. It's a story of a man who, faced with unimaginable adversity, refused to be defeated. Tajo's unwavering determination to seek justice, even after decades of setbacks, is both inspiring and infuriating. His memoir shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked plight of individuals caught in the labyrinth of legal battles against powerful corporations. It is a story of triumph over tribulation. It's a reminder that even in the darkest hours, the human capacity for resilience can prevail.
Grounded tells the story of the thirty-year-long legal struggle of Tajo Amar Beharry, a pilot on BWIA Airlines who suffered an eye injury on the job. The airlines refused to compensate for the on-duty injury caused by the negligence. Thus, Tajo was left with no other option but to approach the court for justice. The ‘3-decade-long battle’ had made me pick the book. I was expecting intriguing courtroom drama and proceedings, but it didn't turn out that way. Initially, the author tells about his childhood and how he developed an interest in becoming a pilot. It was good. I understand that it gives the reader the opportunity to see the growth of the person. But I began losing interest when he told about his family, education, and life philosophies in three different chapters. It takes a good 52 pages (out of 188) to tell us about these things, which is around 27% of the book. And then we get to see the injury he suffered and its aftermath. The first five chapters could have easily been merged into a single one with proper editing. However, the rest (73 percent) of the book turned out to be a decent read. The airlines tried every way not to give compensation. They played dirty. Tricked between US dollars and Trinidad and Tobago dollars. But Tajo didn't budge. He fought with determination and won the case, even though he's yet to receive the compensation. His patience, perseverance, and dedication were commendable. He used to kneel before both circumstances and the authorities. The narrative is straightforward and decent, yet it does not always succeed in evoking the depth of emotions Tajo must have experienced. His attempt to convey the emotional turmoil and the highs and lows falls short. While the story itself is compelling, the emotional aspect could have been stronger. The writing style doesn't capture the raw emotions of the events described. Grounded is a story of resilience, hope, and the enduring belief that justice, no matter how difficult to attain, one day will prevail. It is a symphony of pain and perseverance echoing through time, a reminder that the fight for justice is worth fighting for, no matter how long or challenging the journey may be. For readers who enjoy memoirs, real-life inspiring stories, and aviation-related themes, Grounded can be a worthwhile read.
This is not just a book, but a glimpse into decades-long perseverance and pursuit of justice. It's the story of Tajo Amar Beharry, of Indian descent, hailing from Trinidad. Raised in a loving family with ethical values, spiritual guidance, and a sense of community service, Tajo patiently describes the events that shaped his life. The religious leaders Guruji Swami Purnananda and Bhaiji Pundit Samlal Jadoonanam influenced him with a sense of honesty, morality, and ethics, which became the guidelines for living a life of duty and goodness.
His dreams of soaring high in the sky, much beyond their financial means, led Tajo to join college in Canada, where he also worked to support himself and took a long journey every weekend for Aviation training. After the successful completion of training, he was assigned a dusting chopper to crop fields that needed precision and avoid obstacles like electric wires, poles, birds, while operating at a low height of just 3 feet above the crop.
The real change was his career at government-owned airlines BWIA, where he served diligently as a commercial pilot until one fateful day, a mishap while taking responsibility for the well-being of onboarding passengers made him lose his most precious asset, his eyesight. This part gave me goosebumps, reading about his physical and mental turmoil, in clarity.
The next phase is a series of surgeries, therapies, and a long, ongoing legal battle against the corruption in airlines and it's lack of responsibility for crew members as well as passengers. The harrowing court hearings that keep denying justice and compensation for the life altered, potential wasted, dreams lost, and a blow to duty are unforgiving, but can't truly shake inner strength. In the end, justice will prevail, as seen from the brighter note that instills hope in the heart of a better tomorrow.
The book made us realize the importance of little blessings that we often take for granted and reminds us to cherish our loved ones, friends, family, good health, and nature. This memoir is a raw tale of human resilience and grit, and feels like a heartfelt interview given by the author himself.
There are many things which can be learnt from the life long fight for justice of Tajo sir.
Wisdom comes with life experiences and faith just gets stronger with determination. There's nothing in life which comes to us without a purpose, just like in case of Tajo sir's life. His father praising the bravery of pilots back when he was a kid and the books his sister brought were all a calling from the universe to a career path which awaits his passion.
I could also feel the emotions what a student feels when leaving their home country for education, it is something which is a very deep moment and all such things are elaborated in the book as experienced by Tajo Amar Beharry.
I don't think one can exactly feel what he went through when his passion led to life long journey for justice, but his perspective as depicted in the book reveals how it's majorly our reactions to what things happen to us shapes our future.
Life happens when we become patient and our will becomes our strength.
I wish for a lot of wisdom at a very young age, but with this book I understand that, life, has its own way of giving us lessons and its own way to teach us so that we are humbled in our journey.
The highs and lows are depicted really well. While reading I did feel, that whatever the compensation would be, it could not bring back what's lost but, that's not the only motive while fighting for justice, fighting for justice is to do justice to the one who suffered and a lesson for the accused.
The legalities of the case are of course beyond emotions and ruled by law, but what stands with us forever is the truth which gives us the power to fight for the right.
I really liked how other aspects of his life like family were weighed equally and cherished even in the toughest times of life. The writing style is average but overall it's nice.
It's a good book to read as it's always better to learn from life be it others experiences.
This is my third memoir of the year; each book and piece of writing stand out in their own way. Out of the many things and experiences shared, we could relate to most of the emotions and struggles the author went through. Similarly, this book inspires us to believe in the following principles:
1. Never ever give up. 2. Be courageous 3. Stand against the wrong 4. True effort never goes in vain. 5. Dream it and achieve it.
The author Tajo began the book by extending his gratitude to all the attorneys who stood with him, and he summarized his life experiences (good, bad, adventurous, first job, love life, friend, stranger, Canada, and so on).
He then wrote each experience as a separate chapter. Though he went through so many obstacles, he made sure to learn from them and be positive about why things went wrong and what should be fixed to move ahead without looking back on the past. In spite of losing his eye sight, he still pursued his dream of working as a pilot, which is mind-blowing and gives goosebumps while reading it.
Takeaway:
1. Love is a miracle, and not everyone is lucky enough to feel it. If you get one, make sure to take time to work on it. Two people in a relationship will look after each other and grow together. 2. Though you land in a completely strange place with strangers around, our destiny will guide us there to make our dream turn into reality. 3. Don’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to your dream or goal. 4. Be brave and courageous until justice survives. 5. Family means everything.
I really felt the pain the author went through, and each chapter has its own unique message. Other than that, the book is a short read that can be completed in a single sitting, and the language is lucid. Happy reading!
Tajo Amar Beharry's "Grounded: One Eye Open" offers an absolutely raw & realistic account of his arduous fight against the system to gain the justice he deserves. Within the pages lie Beharry's heart-touching and tragic tale of how he had to battle with the malice of the aviation industry while having to keep up the fight with every ounce of resilience and strength left in him.
Beharry was a pilot and a dedicated one at that, having deep respect and love for his occupation. As fate would have it, a life-shattering accident rendered him partially blind. What happens next is something truly heartbreaking! The airline firm denied any liability, thereby leaving Beharry at the hands of legal recourse. The book describes the dark side of the aviation industry in particular and the corporate world in general. Legal battles, personal hardships and the relentless pursuit to gain nothing but justice forms the core aspect of the book.
The writing style isn't convoluted; in fact, it is pretty straightforward. However, the tone gets fragmented at times. Further, a batch of certain phrases have been repetitively added to the text, thereby marring the beauty of a polished writing. Despite all these, Beharry's story bears a humane touch, with certain aspects being relatable to the plight of the common man. After all, doesn't the quagmire of corporate politics and insensitivity transcend the realms of the book to become a universal issue?
"Grounded" is much more than a memoir; it is a robust tale of human strength and resilience in the face of all odds. It depicts how institutional malice tried to suppress the voice of the common man. The book injects hope and courage into the collective bloodstream of the masses and pats our shoulders, urging us to never give up and do everything possible to get justice delivered.
“I questioned whether the fight was worth it, whether justice would prevail. The road ahead seemed daunting and uncertain, and I grappled with feelings of uncertainty and vulnerability.”
To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the book at first glance. Firstly because the cover wasn't really intriguing. It could have been better but also, considering it to be an autobiography I get it. Coming to the writing style, it's different from the ones I have read before. Maybe, you won't be very pleased with the writing style. For me It felt more like a diary to me, where I was experiencing what the author went through. Also, the book has some really good quotes, the quotes which make you think a bit deeper.
“The legal battle tested my resilience and challenged my understanding of justice. It taught me that justice is not always easily attained and that pursuing it can be a tumultuous and emotionally draining experience. But it also taught me the importance of perseverance, the power of standing up for oneself, and the resilience of the human spirit” I loved this part, it looks just a normal para but I felt like the way it has been expressed about how much pain and frustration he went through and now he is trying to get justice. I loved this part really so much.
I would love to end my review with one final quote “It was as if the storm clouds had descended upon us, casting a shadow over our once-clear path through the skies. But instead of cowering in the face of this storm, a resolve sparked within me. I couldn't let this injustice stand. None of us could”
It's a good book from a first time author and I definitely think y'all should give it a try. Definitely deserves a 4 stars.
Tajo Amar Beharry’s “Grounded: One Eye Open” is a perfect example of the saying “Justice Delayed, But not denied”.
Tajo an aspiring pilot since a young age faces numerous hardships and struggles in his life just to join the aviation industry which is a huge dream for him and his family, despite his background. Overcoming all the hurdles, Tajo becomes a Pilot finally conquering his dream.
However an accident impairs vision of his one eye, thus completely shattering his dream and thereby ending his flying career. Adding more woes to his wounds, the aviation he worked for with held his salary thus rubbing salt on his wounds. The airlines carelessness which snatched away his livelihood, his vision now also stopped his finances thus pushing him into a dark world.
How Tajo fought relentlessly against the airlines for his rights and justice for three decades and if he received his justice and rights forms the crux of the book. The language flow is very simple and the author has poured his heart into the book. The book has been written with so many minute details from his childhood to his legal battle till date inspiring so many out there to fight for their honesty and justice. This book serves as an inspiration for honest people like Mr. Tajo who have been at the receiving end of many multinational companies seeking just their benefits and overlooking true people who have given their all for the company.
An inspirational journey of Mr. Tajo, this book teaches us never to give up and always fight till the end till justice is served. An motivational book which also gives us life lesson and makes us believe in a never give up attitude. A must read for all.
Grounded: One Eye Open by Tajo Amar Beharry is a captivating memoir that tells the author's own powerful story of perseverance and resilience. He was a dedicated pilot who was deeply passionate about his work. However, a devastating accident while on duty left him partially blind. When he sought accountability from the airlines, they denied any responsibility, setting the stage for a compelling legal battle. The book provides a poignant account of his unwavering fight against the airlines, showcasing his experiences in courtrooms, the personal struggles he faced, and the small victories that made his journey unique and compelling. The author's writing style is characterized by its simplicity and accessibility, making the narrative engaging and relatable. While the book is rich with emotion and profound storytelling, some readers may notice certain stories being reiterated. However, this repetition serves to highlight the authenticity and rawness of the author's experiences, adding to the overall impact of the narrative. His determination and resilience shine through the pages, offering an inspirational narrative that resonates deeply with readers. Additionally, the book provides a detailed account of the author's rollercoaster ride through the legal system, underlining the arduous nature of his pursuit of justice. Ultimately, the memoir transcends the personal narrative, shedding light on larger themes of seeking justice in the face of corporate negligence and systemic failures. Tajo's story serves as a compelling call to action, inspiring readers to advocate for what is right and just.
Tajo Amar Beharry's "Grounded: One Eye Open" isn't just a memoir, it's an experience. Beharry invites you on a journey alongside him, sharing his three-decade odyssey for justice after a life-altering accident. His story is a tapestry woven with threads of resilience, the searing pain of injustice, and the unwavering pursuit of what's right.
Beharry's narrative is raw and honest. You feel the anger simmering just beneath the surface as he recounts the betrayal by the very company he poured his passion into. But the anger is overshadowed by a deep well of determination. Beharry's spirit is infectious, his unwavering fight for justice a beacon of hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
The book isn't without flaws. There are moments where the narrative bogs down in repetitive details, and a tighter edit could elevate the pacing. However, these are minor quibbles when compared to the power of Beharry's story. His journey is a testament to the enduring human spirit, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, the fight for justice can ignite a spark of hope.
"Grounded: One Eye Open" is more than just a compelling read; it's a call to action. Beharry's story is a powerful reminder that even one person can stand up to a giant and make a difference. Be prepared to be inspired, to have your faith in humanity restored, and to walk away wanting to fight your own battles with renewed vigor.
Review – Grounded – One Eye Open by Tajo Amar Beharry
Grounded – One Eye Open, a memoir of Tajo Amar Beharry takes you on a 30 year long journey of the author life commencing from right from his education to his piloting days and to the time period wherein he faced severe injustice pursuant to an injury in his eye rendering him losing his sight from his one eye and the subsequent litigation. Grounded is a product of Tajo Amar Beharry’s self-resilience in tough times, determination and continuous efforts. It is also, as he rightly says in the book – “a testament to the countless hours poured into it, channeling my pain, frustration and determination onto its pages.” Written in a narrative manner, reading this book feels like you are sitting with the author and drinking tea and hearing him speak about his ordeals. While reading I was filled with empathy for the Mr. Beharry and could understand the ordeals he faced starting right from the moment of the tragic accident and through his navigation of the corporate, bureaucratic and judicial system. What touched me the most was his optimism throughout his journey and his determination to achieve justice, not only for himself but also for various others who suffer silently and have no means to stand up against corporate / government giants. Writing this review with extreme gratitude to the author. Thankyou for writing and educating us through your story. Thankyou. Note :- This is a self - published book. Do support an Indie Author eh ! <3

This book is more than a mere story, it's an immersive experience that invites readers to journey alongside a character who defies the odds and challenges systemic injustices, ultimately emerging as a symbol of resilience and hope.
From the first page, the reader is drawn into the protagonist's world, feeling every struggle and celebrating each hard-won victory. One of the most striking aspects of "Grounded: One Eye Open" is its portrayal of resilience and solidarity. The protagonist's relentless pursuit of truth and justice resonates deeply, reminding us of the universal human struggle for dignity and fairness. This narrative transcends individual experiences, touching on broader themes that are relevant to anyone passionate about social justice and human rights.
Moreover, the book serves as a powerful catalyst for change. It's not just a call to action but an inspiration to confront injustice, stand up for what is right, and believe in the transformative power of resilience. The protagonist’s journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the impact one person can have in the fight for justice.
Grounded is a memoir by a Airplane pilot of his life experiences. Author has penned down his experience from his childhood to training as a pilot and then how an accident changed the entire course of his life.
One of the highlights of the book is the details about various aeroplanes and technicalities of the airline industry. This is something I enjoyed thoroughly as I could then tell this to my son who is currently mesmerized with planes. He absolutely loved hearing about technical details like various parts of plane, Take off and landing procedures etc.
Writer has also put down his connection with India and how he and his family kept their roots intact even in a foreign land. It shows how spirituality and support from gurus helps one in overcoming difficult times.
The book is also about the injustice he had to face from the airlines which employed him when he met with an accident on duty. Most importantly about the fight for justice and trying to follow your passion even in the worst of the scenarios. It is quiet motivating to read how the author got back to his love of flying planes in even such dire circumstances.
Although it feels that the chapters are bit disconnected or some references repetitive, if you think form a point of view of reading someone's diary or journal then it automatically makes sense
I would recommend this to any individual who wants some insight into airline industry and also if you like to read raw experiences and feelings of a person.
It's a different read from normal and can be picked up if looking for change.
"Grounded: One Eye Open" by Tajo Amar Beharry is an exceptional memoir that encapsulates the author's journey through decades of adversity and triumph. Beharry's narrative style is refreshingly unique, offering readers a poignant insight into the complexities of his life as a pilot and the profound impact of a life-altering accident that left him partially blind. His relentless pursuit of justice against the airline responsible unfolds like a gripping saga, filled with courtroom drama and personal resilience that keeps you engrossed from start to finish.
What stands out most is Beharry's ability to blend personal storytelling with broader themes of justice and resilience. His straightforward prose, though occasionally repetitive, authentically conveys the emotional highs and lows of his legal battles. The narrative's structure, while occasionally uneven, effectively mirrors the tumultuous nature of his journey.

When I heard about this book, the blurb about 30-year-old struggle intrigued me. Some of you know I have experienced many struggles in my life, where reading about them just gives me more life lessons to probe about, so picked this up.
This book was not what I expected. The flow probed about by the writer was more of a conversation narrative split into bits of pieces delving into his values and relationships and then moving into the main narrative where the struggle is split into many parts describing his experiences at every new challenge faced in his life and how he moved forward with it.
The writing felt a bit hard to get into the beginning, but then it just flowed that I could get where he was coming from, but I felt a lack of depth in the narrative, like he kept describing that it felt like a waterfall of challenges, and that he kept at it, but wasn't delving into what actually was happening at those different points of time aside from the main details shared.
Maybe not much happened or it felt like a constant struggle, but it would have been an enriching reading experience if he had been a bit more crisp about them, and in some places the repetition made it a bit redundant for me to read, even though I got his struggles, like it would have been better, if the book was shortened even more.
Otherwise, it was a good book to read. I was inspired to keep at it too. We need to be grounded to keep at it.
The thirty-year-old dispute concerning how a government-owned airline mistreated its staff and violated the public's trust is detailed in Tajo Amar Beharry's book "Grounded: One Eye Open." This book includes a true story about the author's life. He never imagined that, as a committed pilot, he would have a career-ending injury on the job, be left to struggle on his own, and not get compensation. This gave him the idea to retaliate. His childhood and upbringing in Indian culture are the starting points of the story. Tajo recounts all of his most treasured experiences from his childhood, including his time in high school and his training to become a pilot. His hobbies and favorite things are discussed in the book, along with how he got into the airline industry and how he stood up for his rights after the government failed to accept responsibility for his catastrophic injuries and even cancelled his license. In order to raise awareness of the negative aspects of flying, the author tells his story. The book is highly recommended if you like to read autobiographies, memoirs, or personal journeys. This book may also enlighten you about work in the aviation industry. Its relevance and connection with the real-life account of someone who has experienced similar circumstances is an important facet of the book. It is also brief and easy to read, so it wasn't too tedious and was rather interesting.
Will you go to any extent to find justice for yourself on a right cause?
"Grounded" tells the real life story of Tajo Amar Beharry, a pilot whose life changes completely because of an eye injury. This book opened a new window for me to realise the inner world of airline corporate where their employees are often denied what they actually deserve. Tajo Amar was an ambitious young man who fly behind his dream and achieved it. But the injury in his eye took away his career and thus his bright future.
The airline company for which he had worked tried to cheat him without releasing the deserved compensation for him. It led to a 30-year long legal battle which tested his patience and perseverance. Off course the journey was not so smooth and he had to face several ups and downs. Yet, he was brave enough to face the challenges to get what he deserved.
While reading the book I strongly felt the pain that he would have experienced because of the irresponsible attitude of the airlines. In spite of him being a good employee the corporates tried their best to avoid giving him the deserved sum. But the perseverance he showed to receive the reasonable compensation is commendable and his trust in his truth, loyalty and his need for justice helped him to go forward in the legal war.
The reading experience was filled with various emotions and learnings for me. It will be a good inspiring read to someone who loves to read memoirs or life stories.

The book Consists of 188 Pages and 15 Chapters. The skill of the storyteller cannot go unnoticed in the way he has been able to dwell with equal acumen on complex legal battles and personal triumphs. Though much of it is an overwhelmingly slow start, it does pick up later as an inspiring story of overcoming against all odds; some parts do get monotonous, but sincerity in portraying the journey of his protagonist is not lost. It calls for confronting injustice, rebelling against what is wrong, and seeking to transform through acts of resilience. The transformation of the protagonist from a young dreamer to an emblem of hope is profound, giving audiences a deep look into the human condition on the quest for justice and dignity.

Grounded One Eye Open Author: Tajo Amar Beharry My Review- This book shows the journey of the author right from his childhood along with the environment he lived with his ambition of becoming a pilot and his struggles to achieve it. However, one fateful day a disaster occurred in his life which made him partially blind and the disaster continued with the rejection of airlines for taking responsible measures for what had occurred. With a great spirit he continues his eagalbattle for the injustice done.
Even in a very straightforward way I love how the author has shared his life story to inspire people around and I’m sure that everyone who enjoys reading memoirs will understand the depth of his story and gain a lot of inspiration from his story and his never giving up spirit. The way he portrayed his story shows how determined and passionate he was in achieving his dream job and even fate has the other ways he didn’t give up.
He portrayed his life and raw motions in a simple and chronological order which needs a touch of good editing to be accessible and engaging for the readers who read memoirs quite less, other than that I have no other suggestions to improve this work. To me it's a worthy book to give a read for refreshing real life experiences to read and understand reality better.
I definitely suggest all my bookish friends give this book a try for sure. Non fiction readers will love this book for sure. Happy reading…
