1. Needed editing. Eg.

2. Plot holes.
a. In the prologue, at the party, Betsy said that she was going to be graduating from high school in a couple of months. That would have made her 17 or 18 years old and the boys were only two years older. Then, at the end of chapter 4, Remy said, “She was just a little girl when we left.”
b. When Remy was first ranting to his mother about Betsy owning the farm, why didn’t his mother set him straight about everything that she had done for them since he left?
3. So. Many. Betrayals.
a. Through all the years that they knew her, Remy, Wilder and Clyde always treated Betsy like she was “less than” because she was a girl.
b. Even though the four of them had always planned to work together, Remy, Wilder and Clyde got a job on another ranch together without telling her.
c. They kept their good-bye party a secret and didn’t invite her so that she wouldn’t find out they were leaving.
d. After they left, they rarely contacted her or answered her texts or calls and then literally forgot about her.
e. They only came home after five years because Remy’s father died. When they did, they brought a girl home with them, one that had pretty much taken Betsy’s place as their friend. She even looked somewhat like her.
f. Remy and Wilder paid so little attention to news from home about Betsy that they didn’t even remember that her grandfather had died and neither one of them bothered to call her when he did.
g. When Murphy told the guys that Betsy convinced Donny to sell her the farm the day he died, they automatically believed him despite how obvious it was that Murphy was bitter and jealous. Remy accused her of taking “advantage of a sick man, on his deathbed no less” and swindling “his family out of a farm.” He told her that she was “dead” to all of them.
h. They talked her hands into quitting so that she had to handle all the chores for both farms.
i. They both unplugged and left the freezer in her barn open spoiling bull sperm worth more than $100,000.
And after doing all of this, Remy, Clyde and Wilder’s idea of groveling was forcing their way back into Betsy’s life, pi$$ing her off to get her attention and lassoing her like a cow to force her to listen to them? I am DONE with this POS book.

2.5 stars. This is an angsty betrayal / grovel book. It's also the trope “they were childhood best friends." And it’s also RH, with cowboy heroes. So, there's a lot going on, here! It didn’t quite work for me, but if you’re in the mood for an angsty betrayal / grovel read, you might like it.

The heroine and 3 heroes grew up together, on ranches and farms. She thinks they’re planning to go in business together. But when the guys finish high school, they abandon her – taking jobs on a ranch far away, without telling her (and without even inviting her to their goodbye party!) That’s Betrayal #1. Betrayal #2 is that the guys come back home 5 years later, and they’re told that the heroine stole 1 of the guy's farms. They instantly believe that, without talking to her and getting her side, even though she's supposedly their friend. So, they’re dicks to her. Betrayal #3 is that they do something big to sabotage her business.
After that, they grovel. The grovel is decently long, I think it happens from 50 to 60% in, and on.
This had the bones of a good story. The angst was making my stomach hurt – which is good! And, the OW drama was also good angst, without crossing the line too much. But the guys didn’t feel fleshed out enough. Their personalities weren’t distinctive enough from each other. Their betrayal also didn’t make enough sense – like, WHY did they abandon her in the first place, at the beginning, for Betrayal #1? After coming back and being told she stole 1 of their farms, WHY did they instantly believe the worst about her, without even talking to her, for Betrayal #2? Later, when they’re groveling, the guys are like, “We were stupid.” Yes! They were! But a book acknowledging, “This character action doesn’t make sense” doesn’t give it a free pass to skip doing the work of having character actions that make sense!!
The motives for the guys' betrayals just weren't there. It's unsatisfying for a book to be like, "Why did the heroes do this betrayal? IDK, they were dumb, I guess!!!" In a satisfying betrayal story, a hero should have motivations that he's rationalized in his own mind (even if and when he later realizes he was wrong). This book didn't even bother filling that in. It felt undercooked.
The other big part that didn’t work for me is the “childhood friends to lovers” part. These guys were so loathsome for the first 40% of the book. They DO grovel after that. But it was kind of “too little, too late," for me. Because they had been horrible to the heroine for YEARS! Like, even in the flashbacks of her life with them growing up, I think those scenes were supposed to be heartwarming? But, the flashbacks just showed that her relationship with the 3 guys was always the heroine giving, and the heroes taking! It never really felt like they loved her. It felt like they used her, and took advantage of her kindness, and her willingness to do anything for them. They were never good friends to her. This book piled on too many betrayals from the guys, and didn't know when to stop.
For a better “childhood friends to enemies to lovers” angsty RH, in Freestyle, that story does a much better job of showing how those characters were good friends growing up. The flashbacks show them supporting each other, so we had reason to want them to be together, despite all the angst between them. Halfway into THIS book, I was like, "Why do I even want the heroine to end up with these 3 clowns?"
Despite my frustration with this book, I may read the next stand-alone angsty RH in the series. Because like I said, the writing wasn't bad, and it had good bones. It was just underdeveloped. It needed to be fleshed out with more character personalities and motivations. If you’re less of a picky bitch than I am, and you’re in the mood for angsty betrayal / grovel, you may still like this book.

Second chances…
SPOILERS….
Clyde, Remy, and Wilder left Betsy behind and went to live their lives for five years.
My reviews are always based on my emotional reaction to a book, rather than an overview of the storyline. I loved the premise, I loved the story. But throughout the novel, I had a continuous niggling thought at the back of my mind… what if Donny hadn’t died? They hadn’t been in contact with Betsy for a while (there was conflicting information on who had been in contact) and had abandoned her without barely glancing back. Hardly any contact, apart from a few texts here and there. They didn’t seem to even think of her, and they suddenly get the phone call about Remy's Dad, and they return home. Apart from all that happened when they returned and how they treated Betsy, it seemed to me that they only felt guilt once they were back. It was out of sight, out of mind until they returned and had to face leaving her like they did.
I loved Betsy and her spitfire personality; she didn’t let them get away with anything. I think I needed more information not only on why they left (other than being selfish and immature) but also on why they stayed away. Especially given the unfolding story about how close they were with Betsy before they left, which made it even worse! If they had set plans to return, it would have made it more palatable, but the fact that they only thought about her when they were back in her orbit made me feel a bit "oh so NOW you want her". If they had already made plans to return, then I may have thought differently, but I really feel they would have just continued living their lives without anything other than a fleeting thought about her. They didn’t even contact her when her grandfather died.
There was a line, “I didn’t realize that us leaving hurt you this bad.” Clyde was the physically closest to Betsy before they just left without hardly a second thought. I felt they were all heartless and really downplayed how they broke her. I just keep coming back to what was stopping them from returning at any point? It didn’t give much information about where they went, other than leaving to gain experience and work elsewhere, but the story didn’t give much away about why they STAYED away, what was the reason? They each said they had missed her, and their feelings seemed to return like a steam train when they went back. I probably would have felt mollified if they had a work contract somewhere that they had to fulfill, or they couldn’t return for x amount of time because they were tied up, or even if they had a set plan to return, but that wasn’t even on the cards. They didn’t return FOR Betsy; they returned for the funeral only. It made their guilt and remorse feel disingenuous to me, especially given how close they were before they left. They didn’t even seem to miss her those five years; they just left without a backward thought, this was proven by their continued absence and lack of communication. Being immature and selfish just wasn’t enough for me to believe them. Remy saving himself fell flat as well due to all the above reasons. It touched on how he felt like Betsy was a lost love in his mind, but they all had choices. There was no pining after her, they chose to stay away…why? Out of sight out of mind is a hard pill to swallow.
Saying all that, I loved their relationship and how it blossomed again; the interactions were heartfelt. But those niggling thoughts just wouldn’t leave my mind. I am, however, hooked on the author's stories! I just feel some more thoughts are needed on the reasonings behind their decisions, rather than just the aftermath with the grovel and forgiveness.

As per usual, SE Green absolutely knocked it out of the park. I was NOT aware I had a thing for cowboys until I read this book. It was.. angsty and sexy and hilarious and sad and all the emotions.
The characters she writes are always so amazing and this book is no exception. I think I found one of my fave characters ever in Remy’s mom— she is a pure country woman who takes no shit, doesnt let anyone curse in front of her, is a bad ass and is absolutely HILARIOUS. Shes the surrogate mom to the three guys as well as our heroine and she’s THE BEST.
Theres def some great gut punch moments in this book- theres a massive betrayal and underlying betrayal issues because of something the guys did at the start of the book so all that delicious angst is there for sure.
There’s LIGHT OW drama. Theres a girl who refuses to take no for an answer and I am the first to HATE OW drama and this was so light that I easily dealt with it. It was clear the guys never cared abotu her, none of them messed/mess aroudn with her, and none of them are interested in her. Shes really there to cause issues (bc shes a drama queen) and to add depth to the situation (as well as some well deserved comic relief by the end. In the form of a broom and some cow manure.)
Once again, SE Green killed it with this book and Im so excited for the next one in thsi series now that I, apparently, have a massive effing cowboy kink.

A solid angst read after some serious betrayal and abandonment and then betrayal again that didn’t make a lot of sense. If they were such good friends-why the lack of farewell? why the radio silence? Why the immediate judgement on return?
It is angsty as the Hs really were AHs But-once the grovelling starts-it will feed your drama llama.

Inhaled, i inhaled this book with no sleep and it was oh so worth it. Betsy and her childhood best friends, Wilder, Clyde and Remy. The way SE Green brings out angst from the loss of friendships between the four and grovelling makes for an epic story. Take me to the country mama!! You killed it!!

This was way better than I expected, and some of the betrays hit me in the gut.
I didn’t think that their grovel was just enough, especially since it’s not a cheating type of gravel. It was mainly a misinterpreted betray.

Length: 371 pages
Plot: Clyde, Remy, Wilder, and Betsy were best friends growing up. The boys were a couple of years older than her and Betsy didn't understand when they left her without warning. She waited but they didn't come back. Years passed, and when Remy's father passes away, all three boys come back. But it isn't the same. Will they ever be able to make up their transgressions? And will she even want them to?
Commentary: So many names! Clyde-Billy-Wilder-Wild-Betsy-Country-Remy- It got a little confusing for me, especially in the beginning.
I don't feel like there was enough talk about how they let her down the whole time they were gone. They were her best friends and they didn't even acknowledge her grandpa's death. They weren't going even tell her they were leaving until the last minute, they didn't invite her to their going away party, they didn't talk to her while they were gone except for a couple of times a year (and that was just one of them). More than that, they were so dismissive of her because she was a girl, but when it came down to it, they were the ones working for someone else, supposedly still learning how to run a ranch, while she was the one actually running not one, but two ranches. Nobody ever acknowledged how awesome she was and how wrong they were. Not to mention the big betrayal when they came home - I don't know if I could have ever gotten over the amount of money they stupidly and maliciously wasted by destroying her dream of breeding on the farm.
Honestly, these guys were just immature jerks. I can see Remy being upset when he came home, because of his dad, but I can't see him believing that Betsy would have completely changed. Now, him and the other guys not giving her a chance to explain - that tracks.
And the stupid social media manager? They could have dealt with her a long time before, but as they each seemed to mention at least once, she was pretty to look at. Like I said, jerks.

I don't feel like there was enough talk about how they let her down the whole time they were gone. They were her best friends and they didn't even acknowledge her grandpa's death. They weren't going even tell her they were leaving until the last minute, they didn't invite her to their going away party, they didn't talk to her while they were gone except for a couple of times a year (and that was just one of them). More than that, they were so dismissive of her because she was a girl, but when it came down to it, they were the ones working for someone else, supposedly still learning how to run a ranch, while she was the one actually running not one, but two ranches. Nobody ever acknowledged how awesome she was and how wrong they were. Not to mention the big betrayal when they came home - I don't know if I could have ever gotten over the amount of money they stupidly and maliciously wasted by destroying her dream of breeding on the farm.
Honestly, these guys were just immature jerks. I can see Remy being upset when he came home, because of his dad, but I can't see him believing that Betsy would have completely changed. Now, him and the other guys not giving her a chance to explain - that tracks.
And the stupid social media manager? They could have dealt with her a long time before, but as they each seemed to mention at least once, she was pretty to look at. Like I said, jerks.

2.5⭐️ I’m going to give S.E. Green credit for the fact she goes all in on bully/betrayal. I hate when the overarching tension of the story ends up being the character is just misunderstood. Sure, they misunderstood the ranch situation, but they were complete, unabashed assholes. What I can’t get over is the fact the MMCs were never good friends to her. Ever. I loved Betsy as a character, which I think is the reason why my frustration level is so high with this book. I’m so gawd damn angry for her. It felt like the guys just tolerated her in their space because of the forced proximity of their families. They gave her crumbs when it benefited them. She was familiar, not necessarily a friend. Additionally, after what they did to her both in the past and when they came home, she already agrees to forgive them but just wants to see them grovel first. She never gets out of that pining for them stage and never genuinely desires to move on from her feelings for them. For me, that just negates any genuine character development, which is the reason why I like the whole betrayal/grovel trope to begin with. They essentially spent 12 years being horrible to her, but all is well within 3 weeks of them coming home because they’re real sorry and start taking care of the responsibilities that were theirs in the first place. Umm, okay.

These pieces of s***s. The boys are supposed to be her best friends and then they just leave her to go make it big on a fancy ranch or something for 5 years. Ignore her texts and calls, don't come home for her grandpa's funeral when they know how much he meant to her. Meanwhile she still pines for them and basically keeps everything running on the ranch while they are gone. Then they come home for one of the boy's dad's funeral, and within like 48 hours they are disgusting to the FMC and destroy her business all because they don't take two seconds to hear all that she has done for these worthless assholes. Then they grovel by lassoing her like a cow to make her listen to them??? Oh swoon. By the second time they lasso her like a hog and drag her off for sex which she of course is all for, I was out. While they are trying to entice her to f**k them she whines she doesn't want them to leave her again and of course they swear they won't. Shocking. They've been gone for less than a week, they haven't proved sh*t to you let alone groveled enough for you to sleep with them all. I'm continuously surprised by the number of female writers that seem to write FMCs with little to no backbone who accept the bare minimum from the MMCs.

Grovel = 3 Hs, 1h...3Hs basically abandon the h even though plans had been made to have a life together (not as anything more than friends, but to own and run a ranch together, building a legacy). 2 out of the 3Hs had some form of intimacy with the h, but they were each unaware of what they other had done (1H and h had lost their virginity to each other one week prior to 3Hs leaving; 2H and h had engaged in a brief make out session but 2H jumped up and ran away quickly which made the h feel super wanted...not). When the 3Hs return to bury the father of 3H, they all tear into and condemn the h who now owns hers and 3H's ranch. So the 3Hs assume she swindled the ranch away from 3h's family and treat her like trash. The 3Hs are verbally abusive directly to the h, they spread rumors around town about the h to stop people from helping the h and they believe the nasty things spewed about the h from a disgruntled employee. They let the OW film their interaction with the h where they are being verbally cutting to the h and OW posts it (backlash surprisingly is against the 3Hs rather than the h). They also sabotage her breeding program resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. That's a LOT to grovel and make up for. Eventually, they end up apologizing in word and deed. They work to make reparations financially as well as physically working the ranch. The 3Hs are involved in social media and allow there humiliations to be filmed and posted as part of their grovel. The grovel is sufficient and well done.
OW drama = the 3Hs have a social media "manager" that is the OW. OW is malicious in her attempts to humiliate the h, such as posting the rant the 3Hs had against the h. OW is constantly trying to be proprietary of the 3Hs in front of the h, like placing her hand of them, sitting close, making innuendos, intentionally excluding h, intentionally ignoring the h, etc. OW is also incredibly rude to 3H's mom at whose house she is staying as they are all there for the funeral of 3H's dad. So this P.O.S. is treating 3H's mom like a servant, bossing the mom around, making disparaging comments about the mom, etc. all while the mom is mourning the loss of her husband and trying to plan the funeral. IMO, 3H was so weak and failed to step up and put the OW in her place MANY times. If someone went after my mama like the OW did, I would be tearing her a new one much less going after my mama just after my daddy died....Katy bar the door, but there would be a smackdown. S.E. Green has done it again. I knew of the plot for ROUGH for a while now, along with one pretty dramatic scene that was going to happen in it, and I have been chomping at the bit to read this! This is a story where three boys mess up pretty big with their friend Betsy, leaving her behind while they go to work on a ranch elsewhere. For most of their lives, they had made big plans for their own ranch at home, but at the drop of a hat, they were gone.
Years later, they return home for an emergency. Things have changed a lot since they were home, and rather than talking it out to see what's going on, they make assumptions and view Betsy as an enemy. Things get ugly before they finally learn the truth and realize how much they messed up.
They want to earn Betsy's forgiveness, but this country girl does not let them off the hook easily. They have to work HARD to get back in her good graces, and rightfully so!
You'll definitely be bound to fall in love with at least one of these characters. A mother who is such a sweetheart and funny as heck, someone that everyone could use in their life. One particular man is all in for Bets and always has been, even if he forgot that for a little while. There's a small side character who you don't expect to become a bigger part of the story who is a bit mischievous but has everyone's best interests in mind. It's a wholesome, laugh out loud, well-rounded story where you'll also want to smack people across the back of the head on occasion!
If you enjoy characters who are a little rough around the edges, live for the country life, speak with a drawl, are hard working, and don't mind getting dirty, or you love books with groveling and don't have guys getting away with a simple "sorry," this book is just the one for you!

Are we moving into our cowboy era? Cause holy moly, this book did something to my heart. I felt for deeply for Betsy. The girl left behind in a man’s world, while she literally picking up all the pieces left over behind them. She is honestly such a strong badass lady though but she is still so sad, and so lonely. These boys literally had not a clue. Not a clue how bad things were until things really imploded. The grovelling. THE GROVELLING! She makes them work for it and doesn’t give in easily to them. This book has a lot about second chances, forgiveness, and healing. This isn’t a super spicy book (especially since it’s a why choose) and is way more focused on their relationships and recovering from all the miscommunication from their childhood. Honestly, such a good read!

Rough was such an incredible story! Like all of S.E. Green's other stories, I absolutely devoured this one! The plot pulled me in so quick I couldn't get enough! I wanted to kick the MMCs butts several times (they honestly deserved it!). I was brought to tears each time they realized just how badly they had messed up and were hurting the FMC. It was a wild, emotional, spicy ride!

Heat level: 4/5. My good dudes. When our awesome author queen told me she had ideas for a cowboy series I WAS IN SO FAST. Betsy might be my favorite FMC because she is so sassy, feisty, and does bodily harm to each MMC that wronged her. I still say she should've aimed true but alright. And if you're wondering if a certain scene on the back of a horse is possible, it 100% is and I melted as I edited. The scene where gravity wins against an unlikable hoe had me laughing so hard I choked on my spit then wheezed. I can't wait for the rest of this series. Thank you for choosing me to help you polish this book baby up!

The 3 MMC annoyed me a little how they just left and came back and caused nothing but destruction without asking all the important questions and just getting angry. Im glad they finally listened but are still dicks.
The intermit scenes was less then I was expecting. This book gave me the impression that it was going to be heavy but it was only in the last 15% it picked up a little.
Overall I do recommend this book.

DNF at 75%. I think I agree with the majority here when I say that it had potential, but fell short in many places. For starters, it need a solid edit as there were many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. It was a RH Western cowboy romance with a childhood best friends and grovelling tropes, which immediately had me interested, but the execution was childish and bitter. Firstly, the love interests were assholes- they (and the wider 'ranching world') were sexist and believed that Betsy couldn't handle working on a farm, ignored their shared dreams to make plans behind her back and leave her with no explanation, ignored her attempts at getting in contact over the years and lost interest in her life (they couldn't even remember her grandad died), came back only because of a funeral and immediately started jumping to conclusions and dismissing her character and then resorted to a bunch of childish pranks and ruined her career/future by wrecking her bull sperm. They were immature, stupid, rash, arrogant and there was absolutely no coming back for them in my eyes when they so easily dismissed, belittled, degraded and disrespected not only Betsy as an adult, but also the memories they had growing up together. I'm all for a second chance love and adult men grovelling at the feet of the woman they love, but the way the boys characters were portrayed really made me want to see them living in a run down trailer park alone while Betsy flourished on the ranch. Don't even get me started on that annoying social media lady they brought with them too- as if they really needed to add more fuel to the fire. Overall, this had decent potential but was wrecked by the shitty excuses for 'men' in the book. 5.5/10.

Betsy, Clyde, Remy and Wilder have been best friends since what seems like forever. But on the eve of the boys' high school graduation their friendship is fractured when Betsy learns that all that time she spent dreaming big and securing promises with her best friends, they were only humoring her. Left to weather their absence and harsh betrayal all on her own, Betsy girl steps up to the plate and makes a hardworking woman out of herself. As the years go by in their small town, Remy's father beginnings ailing in health forcing the boys to make their much anticipated return from big-time ranching. Only once Wilder, Remy, and Clyde learn that Remy's father "sold" the family farm to Betsy, their already rocky friendship completely falls apart. Misunderstandings, bull-headed cowboys, a bad bitch with a mean streak and some long overdue groveling make for an unputdownable romance!

By FAR my favorite character was Betsy/Bets/"Country". Miss girl wasn't gun-shy about putting people in their place and I loved how she knew they were going to come crawling back with their tails tucked between their legs. She was such a bad bitch. She embodied fierceness. That scene with the "gun" had me rolling on the floor dying!!! Sometimes I comeback to this book just to re-read that scene lol.
Clyde/"Billy", smh he had me fooled in the first half, with his sad-cowboy persona. I wanted to give him a good slap when I found out just how badly he screwed my girl over. Its always the quiet ones you 🫵 gotta watch out for mannn. By the end his persistent groveling won me and Betsy over, but damn his betrayal was like a sucker punch. I did however like that she stopped calling him by his nickname and rescinded his rights to hers when she got real mad; that's the kind of vindictive pettiness I love.
Wilder/"Wild", his biggest sin was always picking wrong. He chose Remy over Betsy and as kids he chose other girls over her when he clearly had feelings. I'll give him the latter because teenagers are dumb, but SIDING WITH REMY no questions asked?? What a little twat, honestly. The grovel was an A++ and 5 star worthy tho, he's the one who pushed Betsy to finally forgive them and that made their connection that much more sweet. The way he cared about her was adorable; even in the flashbacks when he was oblivious to his own feelings, ughh I could cry fr. 😫
Remington/Remy/"Rustic," if I could have reached through the pages and strangled anyone it would have been him, hands down. I get that he was blinded by grief BUT that is NO excuse for being as nasty and rude as he was to the woman who was there for his family, farm, and horse when he was off pretending to be some big-time rancher. Oooh this motherfucker had my blood boiling! He tried to sabotage and destroy everything she took care of and built for THEM. Betsy must have been a saint bc, I would have ran him over before even considering forgiving him. Somehow, (probably) by the grace of God himself, S.E. Green made me like Remy again by the end of the book. I guess miracles do happen, bc I was smitten 😍 after all that groveling lol.
-MVP character was definitely Remy's mom!!! She knew those boys were dead wrong for the way they were acting and she fully loved and supported Betsy; who didn't have anyone 😢. She was such a darling lady even in her grief <3

As the years go by in their small town, Remy's father beginnings ailing in health forcing the boys to make their much anticipated return from big-time ranching. Only once Wilder, Remy, and Clyde learn that Remy's father "sold" the family farm to Betsy, their already rocky friendship completely falls apart. Misunderstandings, bull-headed cowboys, a bad bitch with a mean streak and some long overdue groveling make for an unputdownable romance!

By FAR my favorite character was Betsy/Bets/"Country". Miss girl wasn't gun-shy about putting people in their place and I loved how she knew they were going to come crawling back with their tails tucked between their legs. She was such a bad bitch. She embodied fierceness. That scene with the "gun" had me rolling on the floor dying!!! Sometimes I comeback to this book just to re-read that scene lol.
Clyde/"Billy", smh he had me fooled in the first half, with his sad-cowboy persona. I wanted to give him a good slap when I found out just how badly he screwed my girl over. Its always the quiet ones you 🫵 gotta watch out for mannn. By the end his persistent groveling won me and Betsy over, but damn his betrayal was like a sucker punch. I did however like that she stopped calling him by his nickname and rescinded his rights to hers when she got real mad; that's the kind of vindictive pettiness I love.
Wilder/"Wild", his biggest sin was always picking wrong. He chose Remy over Betsy and as kids he chose other girls over her when he clearly had feelings. I'll give him the latter because teenagers are dumb, but SIDING WITH REMY no questions asked?? What a little twat, honestly. The grovel was an A++ and 5 star worthy tho, he's the one who pushed Betsy to finally forgive them and that made their connection that much more sweet. The way he cared about her was adorable; even in the flashbacks when he was oblivious to his own feelings, ughh I could cry fr. 😫
Remington/Remy/"Rustic," if I could have reached through the pages and strangled anyone it would have been him, hands down. I get that he was blinded by grief BUT that is NO excuse for being as nasty and rude as he was to the woman who was there for his family, farm, and horse when he was off pretending to be some big-time rancher. Oooh this motherfucker had my blood boiling! He tried to sabotage and destroy everything she took care of and built for THEM. Betsy must have been a saint bc, I would have ran him over before even considering forgiving him. Somehow, (probably) by the grace of God himself, S.E. Green made me like Remy again by the end of the book. I guess miracles do happen, bc I was smitten 😍 after all that groveling lol.
-MVP character was definitely Remy's mom!!! She knew those boys were dead wrong for the way they were acting and she fully loved and supported Betsy; who didn't have anyone 😢. She was such a darling lady even in her grief <3

Y'all do yourself a favor and give this book a try, it's drama, it's romance and it's such a fun time! I highly recommend it! 10/10 amazing!

I really wanted to like this book. And I think, subconsciously, I must have because I didn't DNF but so much of it made me mad.
1. Nothing they did was groveling. Nothing! Paying for what they destroyed? Not groveling. Saying you're sorry a million times? Not groveling. Telling the ranch help that you made some bad assumptions when you caused them to stop working for Betsey? Not groveling. Helping around a ranch that was half theirs (at least half Remy's) anyway and doing jobs that needed to be done? Not groveling. Saying deep down they've always loved her? Not only not groveling but completely unbelievable. They were assholes from start to finish. I never liked them.
2. In the beginning, I didn't vibe with Betsey then she began to impress, then she got dick and it was all over. I can't call her an overall doormat or any other of my usual descriptions cause she worked her ass off for everyone. She took on every bit of responsibility and made plans for the future that were smart and effective. But I don't understand her loyalty to 3 guys, who'd done NOTHING their entire lives, to earn it. She was wearing blinders where they were concerned. I have a very hard time believing she was their best friend. The guys were that for each other. Not even the flashbacks changed my mind. You don't leave for 5 years and not communicate. You don't ignore deaths in her family. Nothing in this book made me believe they had a single intention of building a future WITH HER.
3. I guess cowboys don't say "what"? The fuck...The hell. Just write WHAT!
4. And Renee. Where was her responsibility to inform her son of the decisions about the ranch? Why was it Betsey's? It's like her only role in this book was to tell them all to watch their language. And was tattling about the coffee supposed to be funny? Because it pissed me off. If it was vodka, then yes. But if my doctor, who is, in medical situations, an expert, said I could safely have 1 cup a day then any non medical professional who said I couldn't can kiss my butt.
