Tressya never wanted to be queen, but destiny had other plans. Thrust onto the Tarragonan throne by the scheming Sistern order, Tressya finds her world unraveling. As enemies circle and secrets threaten to control her, an enthralling connection with Tamas, leader of the Razohan shapeshifters, promises passion—and peril.
Tamas is a man torn between duty and desire. Sworn to claim the Bone Throne, his searing bond with Tressya, forged in blood and shrouded in prophecy, makes him an adversary, yet it could be his ultimate undoing.
As the Etherweave stirs and whispers of "twain bloodborn" echo, Tressya and Tamas find themselves locked in a perilous race against time. Each must navigate ancient secrets and treacherous alliances to locate the Etherweave’s hidden tomb, knowing that whoever frees and masters this mighty force first will command the fate of their world.
In a realm where ascending the throne demands a sacrifice and love cuts deeper than any blade, who will reach the Etherweave first? Or will they both be devoured by the very magic they seek to control?
When I wasn’t riding a camel through the Rajasthani desert, white water rafting the rapids on the Zambezi, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge or hiking the peeks in Pakistan, I was piloting a twin prop into remote aboriginal communities in northern Western Australia or staring down a microscope in a laboratory.
Now somewhat tamed, the microscope has morphed into a computer and I spend more time plotting dire situations for my protagonists than being in them myself.
“You need to know my days will be spent in worship of you.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Thank you Terina Adams for the gifted arc!
I am SO excited to be back in this world! This was such an anticipated read for me and it didn’t disappoint 🤭 I truly think this series is a hidden gem and I hope it gets the love it deserves 🫶
The plot was so engaging throughout this book with all of the action, twists, and character growth! So much happens in this book and I’m still reeling ✋ after that cliffhanger, I need book 3 like yesterday.
The growth of our MCs was so wonderful to witness! Tressya’s growth is especially inspiring. Her confidence really sparks throughout this book with the love of her new friends and Tamas. I loved seeing her finally stick up for herself and embrace who she is 🫶
“But I would rather be weak and in love than strong, yet as brittle as glass.”
I also really loved Tamas in this one! In this first book, I didn’t love him during his pov chapters, but that quickly changed with this book. His absolute devotion to do what’s right and his pure love for Tressya allowed me to see his personality more! But how could you not love a protective, yet completely supportive, book bf? 😌
The romance was so fun bc they returned to being enemies after book 1 and there was SO much banter 👏👏 we have a bit of slow burn again, but seeing their relationship develop was so worth it. I absolutely love these two together and really look forward to seeing even more growth in book 3!!
“Do I need to teach you another lesson, Razohan?” “Is that a bargain or a threat?”
I was pretty obsessed with the first book - I believe I was hugging it in my review video. What I loved most was the unique (and let's be honest, weird - in a super complimentary way) world-building. I mean, Viking shifters?? Who wouldn't be obsessed? I will say that I'd classify this as an epic romantic fantasy.
After the events of the first book, Tressya’s journey continues to be as much about survival as it is about her self-discovery. The stakes in this one are infinitely higher, the secrets FAR more dangerous, and the characters even MORE complex.
One of the highlights of this book is the expanded world-building. The shifters to the North are so cool and I REALLY wished for more time with them. The lore and history are deep, plentiful, and fascinating, making every twist and turn feel grounded in the world’s mythos.
The dynamic between Tressya and Tamas is also phenomenal. Their relationship continues to be a slow burn despite their deep emotional ties to one another. Their intense connection is fascinating, full of drama and passion. Their push-pull relationship is filled with moments of tension and tenderness. These adorable little drama-filled babies are such disasters; Tamas worships the ground that she walks on and she pretends otherwise despite adoring him back just as deeply.
The secondary characters are also amazing, providing a perfect counterbalance to the drama of our romantic leads. Their exasperation at the main couple's decisions makes me feel like all of the secondary characters just rolled their eyes at how utterly dramatic Tamas and Tressya are at all times. I loved the little friend squad in this one. I especially love that everyone tells them NOT to do things and then they immediately do them. I feel like they just mostly just get lucky when things go right - and so many things go wrong for them.
This sequel delivers everything fans of the first book could hope for. I feel like with every single book, the stakes increase. I cannot wait to see how things will shake out in the next!
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review. This review is based on a complimentary pre-released copy and it is voluntary.
Whewwwwwww THIS BOOK!! Taking me on ride after ride of amazing twists and turns with awesome character and story development!
We got to continue following Tamas' and Tressya's story, except they are no longer fighting their feelings (thank goodness!) but now they are wondering if they can trust that connection.
Both Tressya and Tamas grow even more in this story. I'm proud of both of them for communicating as needed (even if it's not perfect).
In addition to these two love birds we ALSO get some of Bryra's POV! I never would have known I needed her POV, but I'll be honest....I could have read even more of it! She's important. I know it, and we start seeing those glimpses in this story. How she has her own little character arc is really intriguing and exciting and I found myself looking forward to her POV characters.
A LOT happens in this book and we see the end of some story-lines that I truly wasn't expecting, but how they happened was perfect, and I thought Adams wrote it all very well.
There is still so much to discover, and we are introduced to new characters/entities that are not even close to being done meddling in our beloved MCs lives.
This is originally supposed to play out as a trilogy but I'm selfishly hoping the Adams decides we aren't done yet in this world and keeps it going! (That or book 3 is nice and long, I'll be happy either way!)
I missed these characters and this world. The magic system is intense and well thought out. We have powerful players who are against Tamas and Tressya, and with the dual POV we got to get great insight on what the other was experiencing during their own trials.
I love Tamas and Tressya. This book was important for figuring out what their relationship was going to look like after the ending of book one and I was thrilled to get that amazing devious banter that I loved in book one.
“Easy, little queen.” Tamas bound my wrists in a tight grip “Let go of me,” I growled Using his lethal Razohan reflexes, he pinned my hands behind my back, anchored them in place with one hand. “Only if you ask me nicely,”
This book had a great balance of fantasy, magic, passion, world building, character development, and twists. I really enjoyed the first book and am pleased to say I throughly enjoyed the second. If you haven’t read the first book yet now is a great time to start since you’ll be able to jump right into book two!
Now a queen, Tressya must face what she has so reluctantly avoided. Confronted with the truth that Tressya is a true descendant of the House of Tannard, she must now become the Bone Queen and control the Etherweave. But she is not the only one that has Tannard blood and wants control over the Etherweave. Tamas, a shape shifter, is not only bound to Tressya but bound by honor to take over the Bone Throne. Even though in this installment we find the two star crossed lovers at odds, they must fight to find their way back to each other if they hope to succeed and survive. Together they must endure an epic journey to save their realm and find the Etherweave before anyone else can. Tamas and Tressya must not only battle outside forces but they must also combat their inward struggles. Can they conquer their inner demons in time? Will Tressya and Tamas finally realize that together they are stronger? Overall rating 5/5 Adams does it again! I am astounded by the level of world building that intrances the reader and makes them feel as if they are a part of Tressya’s life. I love these characters as if I know them personally. The way Adams writes and evolves these characters makes me so invested in them and crave for them to succeed through every obstacle or bad decision. I am so glad that this is not the final installment of The Bone Throne series, I don’t think I could say goodbye to Tressya nor Tamas. If you love ACOTAR then please do yourself a favor and read this book you will not regret it!
*Thank you to Terina Adams for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
