The synopsis of this book was what made me want to read it and Tabitha really was a treacherous wife. The fact that she wanted to rise up in government to help with her real passion, her empire was wild. She was very ruthless and I did not like her character at all for it, especially when we find out what she did with respect to getting Detective King in her sights.

Where the story lost steam for me was Detective King's carelessness when he was trying to solve the biggest cases that he was going after. One, he was a little too trusting of Tabitha when he mentioned her "nephew" to her and the way he went about asking about how he could afford the nice things he had was very suspect. Then the fact that he is getting a lead that could help tie up the loose ends, for him to have been so invested in this case to just give it up was a little unrealistic in how he character was portrayed throughout the book. I was glad we did eventually find out who Gia was since she was mentioned from the beginning but I would have liked that revelation a little earlier in the book.

There were twists in this book that I didn't see coming and it went in a different direction that I thought it would. I understand the ending set up for the next book which I hope comes shortly after this one because it kind of ends on a cliffhanger to see how this is going to end up for Tabitha and her regime.

Detective King indeed has a very treacherous wife & all the mess she pulled. He’s one of the best in Arizona but I guess love is blind because he didn’t seem to have an inkling of what was going on under his nose with his scandalous wife Tabitha. I thought it was weird that he was so concerned about missing cases but Joyce was kind of left blowing in the wind so to speak (don’t want go give any spoilers). The book ends in a cliffhanger and seems like next book will lean more into Gia and how she will handle things. Overall all I think it was a solid read. Appreciate the complimentary copy for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the ARC!

Okay so the title was very accurate! Lol. I thought the beginning started off really strong. Tabitha is a character that I didn’t necessarily feel connected to or liked, but I was entertained by her decisions. Sis was ruthless.

I couldn’t believe that Detective King had no idea about a double life. There were so many signs!!!! I also couldn’t believe how much Tabitha faked it with Detective King. I think that made me feel a little disconnected from the story because the double life was so drastic.

I ended up feeling bad for Detective King, especially knowing that he was willing to give up his life to support hers. He spent a while trying to build this case and gave it up too easily. I did, however, like the twists in finding out who supported Tabitha and the reveal at the end. I would definitely read book 2 to figure out how this revenge plot goes. Solid read!

Saundra continues to prove why she’s one of my must-read authors. The Treacherous Wife is a fast-moving, twist-heavy thriller that grabbed me from page one and didn’t let go. This story is the ultimate game of cat and mouse, and Saundra executes it with such sharp precision that I found myself glued to my seat, devouring each chapter.

Tabitha Knight is a fascinating character—calculated, composed, and always three steps ahead. Heartbreak may have shaped her, but it never slowed her down. Every move she makes feels intentional, and watching her navigate power, danger, and deception was absolutely addictive.

The plot unfolds at rollercoaster speed, packed with jaw-dropping twists, layered characters, and an explosive finale that had me gasping. Bodies drop, lies pile up, and secrets unravel in ways I did not see coming. And at the center of it all is Detective Ronald King, whose grief, loyalty, and determination collide as he uncovers evidence that hits far too close to home.

This is my first book by Saundra but won't be my last. The synopsis really interested me and I did enjoy this cat and mouse mystery. The storyline had many twists and turns that are pretty much laid out for you. It just didn't give me that tense build up I love in a suspense thriller or that aha moment. Although a bit predictable for me it was an interesting read that kept me entertained. Tabitha is indeed treacherous and Detective King didn't stand a chance. For such a great detective he didn't detect what was right in his face. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next with the character who was introduced at the end. I'm ready for to see what Gia is gone do!

The Treacherous Wife is my first book by this author, Saundra. While I did like it, I didn't love it as much as I wanted to. The beginning started off great, and the storyline and plot were solid. However, along the way, it took so many different twists and turns, ups and downs! While those twists and turns do work for this book because of the subject matter, it was just a little too much for me. I don't recommend reading it. I don't want to give away any spoilers.

Gist of book: Tabitha is a mayor and then a governor. However, she is also a drug queen pin.
Likes: This was an entertaining story. Tabitha was conniving and kept her eye on what she wanted. The ending set the stage for a sequel.
Dislikes: It’s hard for me to believe that nobody discovered that Tabitha’s “nephew” is actually her son (it’s not like she hid his birth when she had him) or that his father was into the drug game.

I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me and I struggled to get through it.
The pros of this book is that the premise was an interesting one. I liked the idea of this detective trying to solve a case that starts to look like family members are involved.

The cons:
I didn’t find any of the characters really likable. The detective, who is supposed to be the best in the state, didn’t seem very smart and couldn’t see things theta were right in front of him.
I found the story pretty unbelievable as well. I know we suspend our reality when reading but the storyline, to me, went a little far. I can’t say any more without spoiling the book but just know that there’s a little too much going on.

Based on this book I don’t know that I would read anything else from this author.

I really enjoyed this story because Tabatha was very calculated with every move she makes and didn’t let heartbreak stop her from achieving her goals. Then the way everything played out I was excited and on the edge of my seat ready for the finale 🤗. Now if there’s a book 2 I will read it to see what drama comes next.

The characters were rich and layered, like a delicious seven-layer dip! I devoured this book and with that explosive ending, I’m on the edge of my seat—please, don’t make me wait too long for the next one!

If it had not been for the rushed time line in the beginning and the grammatical errors- this could've easily been a 5 star! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it kept my attention. Tabitha was truly a treacherous woman. I’m hoping for a part two because I’m curious to see what Ronalds’s daughter has in store for Tabitha and her son.

This was the first time I had read this type of book by this author, and I was a little surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I am a huge fan of urban fiction, where I read this author's first book. It was a good read that I would recommend.

I love crime fiction, but this book had too many unbelievable plot points to fully enjoy. As an “urban fiction” novel, I understand that the genre often rewards readers who suspend disbelief—but the outrageous schemes the main character pulls off were hard to ignore.

Mayor Tabitha Brown is not someone you want to cross. She’s beautiful, brilliant, cunning—and secretly the queenpin of a thriving drug enterprise. She operates her drug business while serving as the mayor of an Arizona town. She somehow manages to conceal her drug dealing, shakedowns, back room deals and thug nephew/son, and ride her charisma and ambition all the way to the Governor’s mansion. Her most shocking conquest was ensnaring Arizona’s top detective, Ronald King, in her web of deception—and actually getting him to propose and then marry her. The lies, schemes, and murders escalate to a wildly over-the-top finale.

Despite the absurd plot, the novel earns three stars for delivering flashy, entertaining stereotypes, a smart detective who becomes inexplicably clueless, and a storyline that does keep you turning the pages—even while you're rolling your eyes.

I enjoyed reading this book. It does not tell you why Wifey Tabitha is treacherous until towards the end, and trust me, she seemed to good to be true and boom, jaw dropper. I really liked the twist with the detective. So much, that I hope there is a second book soon, full of revenge.
I will be reading more books by Saundra.

The storyline is basically the plot of the TV series Breaking Bad. The timeline is choppy. It is an ok read if you just need something to pass the time.
