I´m so proud of myself for finishing this book. Both of us go through so many things.

This is a little different from the movie, obviously, but not a lot. I don't know, my favorite parts were the designs inside and the cover, because they were beautiful. This is probably aimed at kids, so it makes sense for it to feel that way, doesn't it? I actually feel like this was great for kids, because there seemed to be a wealth of vocabulary words here. For me, I'm sticking with the movie--but I'll keep the book, because, well, pretty. ;)

3,5 ich liebe das Dschungelbuch, aber hier hat mir das "dangerous secret" gefehlt. Das Buch erzählt einfach moglis Geschichte. Die ist toll, aber kein dangerous secret :)

„Das Dschungelbuch: Die Stärke des Wolfs ist das Rudel“ von Scott D. Peterson ist der sechste Band der „Dangerous Secret“-Reihe von Disney. Die einzelnen Bände können unabhängig voneinander gelesen werden.
Die Inhaltsangabe ist simpel. Habt ihr die „Realverfilmung“ aus dem Jahr 2016 gesehen? Wollt Ihr dieselbe Geschichte noch einmal lesen? Dann ist das genau das richtige Buch für Euch.
Seid Ihr wie ich gespannt auf das versprochene „Dangerous Secret“? Dann werdet Ihr enttäuscht.
Ich verstehe wirklich nicht, wieso „Das Dschungelbuch: Die Stärke des Wolfs ist das Rudel“ es in diese Reihe geschafft hat. Ich habe mir nach Beenden des Buches direkt noch einmal den Film angesehen, um meinen Verdacht zu bestätigen: Peterson erzählt 1:1 den Film nach. Wieso, frage ich mich. Immerhin basieren die Disney-Filme auf dem gleichnamigen Klassiker von Rudyard Kipling.
Geschrieben ist es trotzdem kindgerecht und mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Peterson hat einen sehr angenehmen Stil und erzählt Moglis Geschichte mit Herz. Am Ende habe ich sogar ein paar Tränen verdrückt – allerdings habe ich auch bei der gleichen Szene im Film geweint, von daher…

This is an amazing adaption of one of the best classics of all time. It was so good that I couldn't read anything for 2 weeks that lived up to it so I just read it again. It has amazing imagery, vocabulary, (gargantuan was used 1 time too many though) and will most likely have you blubbering like a baby at the end.

This was an excellent remake of a classic story. The story was more intense, but it was very good. All characters and a few new ones tell a great story of Mowgli, the man-cub, and his struggles of where is home should be. Can't wait to see the movie.

This is the novelisation of the 2016 Disney version. My rating may be biased, but I loved the movie, and have fond memories of it. :)

Mogli ist im Dschungel aufgewachsen, großgezogen von einem Wolfsrudel. Er führt ein sehr behütetes Leben – bis zu dem Tag, an dem der rachgierige Tiger Shir Khan zurückkehrt und droht, den Menschenjungen zu töten. Um sich selbst und seine Wolfsfamilie zu beschützen, verlässt der Menschenjunge sein Zuhause, begleitet von dem klugen Panther Baghira. Auf seiner Reise begegnet Mogli nicht nur dem fröhlichen Bären Balu, der schnell zu einem guten Freund wird, sondern muss sich auch vielen Gefahren und schwierigen Fragen stellen. Wo er gehört er hin und was ist ihm wirklich wichtig? Ob Mogli seinen Platz in der Welt wohl noch finden wird?
Da ich sowohl den Zeichentrickfilm als auch die Realverfilmung von „Das Dschungelbuch“ ausgesprochen gerne mag, habe ich mich sehr darüber gefreut, dass uns der sechste Teil der Dangerous-Reihe in den indischen Dschungel zu Mogli und seinen tierischen Freund*innen mitnimmt. Ich war sehr gespannt, welche neuen Einblicke in Moglis Welt „Die Stärke des Wolfes ist das Rudel“ wohl bereithält, wurde in diesem Punkt aber leider enttäuscht. Schon optisch unterscheidet sich dieser Band von seinen Vorgängern und genauso sieht es auch inhaltlich aus.
Anders als die vorherigen Bände, bei denen es sich um neue Erzählungen mit beliebten Disney-Charakteren handelt, hebt sich „Die Stärke des Wolfes ist das Rudel“ kaum von der Originalgeschichte ab. Dunkle Geheimnisse und überraschende Wendungen, erfrischende neue Perspektiven und Handlungsstränge – all das findet man hier nicht. Bis auf wenige zusätzliche Szenen liest sich das Buch wie eine moderne Version der Realverfilmung. Für Dschungelbuch-Liebhaber*innen zweifellos eine tolle Ergänzung, aber wer sich ein wirklich neues Abenteuer erhofft, wird hier nicht fündig werden.
Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich das Buch gerne gelesen. Es hat Spaß gemacht, Mogli, Balu und Co. auf ihren Erlebnissen zu begleiten, welche nicht nur spannend und berührend sind, sondern auch wichtige Werte vermitteln wie Freundschaft, Familie, Heimat und Zugehörigkeit. Sämtliche Figuren aus dem Disney-Klassiker sind dabei, mit all ihren bekannten Eigenschaften, und der flüssige Schreibstil und die kurzen Kapiteln lassen die Seiten nur so dahinfliegen.
Fazit: „Die Stärke des Wolfes ist das Rudel“ ist eine schöne Nacherzählung der Disney-Realverfilmung „Das Dschungelbuch“ mit kleinen Veränderungen für alle Fans und diejenigen, die abenteuerliche Geschichten mögen. Als ein Dangerous Secrets-Buch kann man diesen Band jedoch nicht so wirklich bezeichnen, ich zumindest habe diesbezüglich nicht das bekommen, was ich aufgrund der anderen Bände erwartet habe. Trotz meiner Kritik kann ich das Buch empfehlen und freue mich schon sehr auf den nächsten Band. Von mir gibt es 3 von 5 Sternen!

i re-read this recently, but never did a review, nor the first time I finshed it, not the second, I didn't want to... well, din't want to recognise that I read this, stupid I know.
I still don't know how to tackle the review of this book, still don't know if I want to review this as a pastiche or as a movie novelization, because if you have to judge this book as one or the other, the callification differs, and it differ like by a lot.
so after much thining, I decided that I'm going to review this, but not going to give it any kind of goodreads score, but I give it mine in the text, both of them in fact, the pastiche and the movie adaptation.
Let's start with the bad, then with the good.
As a pastiche
score: 1 star
I think that the reason why is aone star is very much self explanatory.
The prose and the content.
But is a book for children... Sorry, that escuse isn't valid here, the original book is a book writen for children too, so if a child cannot understand the original, I think that you should start asking yourself what your kid is learning in school, maybe you shouldn't let him rot in fron of the TV or with a mobile phone.
The original don't treat them like they were retarded, have excellent prose and very powerful themes and messages that are mostly skipped in this one, also as a retelling is a very bad one, skipping most of the content and the original content that it adds in exchange isn't good or enough to fill the page count makign it like is filled with air.
As anovelization of the Disney Remake of 2016

As a novelization of the movie is very good, it could have been beter if it did like most novelization usually do like put it stuff from previous version of the draft or cut stuff of the current draft that didn't make into the final movie like cutted or extended scenes.
But it is like it is, it could have been better, sadly it isn't.

In the book, The Jungle Book: The Strength Of The Wolf Is The Pack, there is a little boy named Mowgli. He was left in the jungle when his father was killed by a tiger named Shere Khan. Mowgli was adopted, loved, and raised by a wolf pack. Shere Khan did not like man in the jungle and demanded that Mowgli leave the wolf pack and go live in the man village. This started an adventure and many life lessons for Mowgli as he learned what was important to him, who his friends were, and where he fit in this world. The journey ends with Mowgli find his way and his own path and knowing exactly where he belongs.
One thing that I liked in the book was how Mowgli had many animal friends and overcome many obstacles on his path to finding where he fit and where he belonged. I liked the fact that he ended back with his wolf family who had loved him so much from the beginning.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animals, adventure and a good story. The story pulls you in and gets you involved with all the animals in the jungle and all the lessons to be learned. It was written to capture the attention of kids in grades 3 - 8 but will be loved by adults as well.
One thing that I liked in the book was how Mowgli had many animal friends and overcome many obstacles on his path to finding where he fit and where he belonged. I liked the fact that he ended back with his wolf family who had loved him so much from the beginning.

Well. This book is a curious beast: a novelization of a movie that was itself based on a book. There is some fine writing here and there, but Kipling it is not. Basically, this book would be good for kids who loved the movie and want to relive it in their imaginations. Nothing wrong with that! It's a solid story. But, for those who are stronger readers, steer them to the original or else have them watch the movie again. Both are more complex and thus more satisfying than this book.
(I got this as an ebook from my library, and thought it started really well. As an adult reader, I was hoping for some insight on how they melded the older movie and Kipling's "Jungle Book". I didn't really get it. I admire the movie a lot, and I guess I was looking for something like "The Making Of.." rather than a straightforward, point-by-point novelization.)

I was disappointed when I realized that the book I had purchased was this one - an adaptation to the live action and CGI Disney film rather than the original novel updated with a new cover image to match the movie. Super bummed. But this book ended up surprising me.
I read this book a loud to my 3 year old daughter at bedtime. Reading each night until she was asleep. I make sure to do this as a part of our routine because I feel that these longer books written for older audiences provide exposure to a much wider vocabulary than books traditionally for toddlers.
Not only did this book use an amazing range of new and unusual words, it also was hyper-descriptive of everything while keeping storylines easy enough for her to sort of follow.
Great read for the purpose but not a true replacement for the original.

January 10, 2020This story is called The Jungle Book, The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack by Scott Peterson. It is an adventure story about a man-cub named Mowgli. Mowgli is hunted by an evil tiger named Shere Khan. Mowgli tries to live a peaceful life with other humans, but it is too wild for him and too human for the wolves. Mowgli is the main character and he is a Human boy that was left behind in a cave when Shere Khan, the Tiger, killed his father, who was hunting the tiger. Now, Mowgli is being hunted by Shere Khan and he needs to find a new people but he does not want to go to the Man-Village. On his way to the Man-Village, he met Baloo, the brown bear, and Mowgli helped Baloo to get honey and that’s how they became friends. Bagheera, the panther who was raising Mowgli, came and told Baloo to say that Mowgli should go to the Man-Village and Mowgli left very sad. Suddenly monkeys started to grab Mowgli and they took him to a temple where he met King Louie, a giant orangutan. King Louie want Mowgli to get him the red flower (fire) so he’s holding him at the temple. Bagheera and Baloo rescued Mowgli and he ran out of the temple and got some of the red flower (fire) so he could kill Shere Khan. When he got the red flower, all of the animals were afraid of him and the fire, but then Mowgli threw the fire into the river. All the animals start to say the Wolf law, “The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack” and then they all teamed up on Shere Khan so Mowgli could run off into the Jungle. Mowgli planned out an attack and trapped Shere Khan by tricking him by jumping off a tree and Shere Khan’s life was ended and Mowgli went back to the Wolves for now.
There are a few themes in the book The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack. One theme is Survival. Mowgli is pretty amazing surviving this long with the help of his animal friends. Another theme is Belonging. Mowgli was accepted by the Wolves and they became his family. The Wolves accepted him and treated him like one of their own. “To me, you are not wolf. You are not man,” said Raksha. “You are my son.” (pg. 318)
There are 3 reasons people should read this book. It’s an adventure story about a kid who lives in the jungle so people who like adventure stories would really like this book. It has talking animals that express what they are thinking so that keeps the reader interested. The characters were also great, and specifically I like Mowgli the best because he is in the jungle by himself and he does not seem afraid. I learned from the book that it doesn't matter who you choose as family. Anyone can be your family and be important to you. This is one of the lessons that Mowgli learns in the book also. “It was Mowgli’s story, after all. Maybe you fit where you decide to fit, Mowgli thought. This was where his family lived. This is where he had carved his own path. This is where he belonged,” (page 324.)

There are 3 reasons people should read this book. It’s an adventure story about a kid who lives in the jungle so people who like adventure stories would really like this book. It has talking animals that express what they are thinking so that keeps the reader interested. The characters were also great, and specifically I like Mowgli the best because he is in the jungle by himself and he does not seem afraid. I learned from the book that it doesn't matter who you choose as family. Anyone can be your family and be important to you. This is one of the lessons that Mowgli learns in the book also. “It was Mowgli’s story, after all. Maybe you fit where you decide to fit, Mowgli thought. This was where his family lived. This is where he had carved his own path. This is where he belonged,” (page 324.)

This was by far my least favourite novelization. I have no idea why because I really liked the movie but the book just didn't flow well for me- I guess that part of the problem was the language because it was slightly different than what I am used to. I did like the illustrations between chapters though and the cover is absolutely beautiful. The story is okay too, at least it was different from the original and not the carbon copy of it just made in CGI instead of animation.
The story is okay, the characters were okay- the book was just mediocre to me. But if you liked the movie you will enjoy this book because it leaves almost nothing out and it's still a good story.

Each chapter leaves you wanting to read more! I always take a little peak at the next chapter.
Mowgli was a baby that was raised by wolfs, so I like that they go into more detail about that than I remember in the movie “The jungle booK”.
It really tells you how Mowgli is a “man cub” but also has part of the jungle in him. It really describes how he is always inventing and thinking.
The only thing I didn’t like was that it felt like it ended so quickly!
But I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who like older kids books or who like adventure.

DNF - halfway
There's nothing wrong with this book, I DNF it because it's almost an exact script from the movie and I've seen the movie three times already, so I decided that it wasn't really worth my time.
I have so many books that I still have to read with stories that I haven't discovered yet, so I'll be focusing on those.
That doesn't mean that it's not a lovely book. It's very cute, with short chapters and I liked the writing.

Simply brought a smile to my face!
I did watch the movie maybe twice and The jungle book story is a classic and an iconic one. This one isn’t the original one but the one based on the movie. Still I enjoyed it and I remembered my childhood.

Full adaptation of the movie. Description of the jungle is fun and Mowgli's emotions and internal conflicts are fun to read. A longer novelization for a children's/family movie than most novelizations I have read or seen.

This was a quick and fun read. It follows the live-action re-make pretty well, which was nice. I enjoyed it and will probably read it again.

This book is wonderful. The classic story is so rich and lovable and it is told in such an easy-light-to-read. The authors did an awesome job. Once you start it, you cannot put it down.

Read it almost or probably half way through, I personally found it boring. But the story was good tho. I dnfed for now/ ever.
