Twisted Attraction: Love Kills Duet: Book 1

Rate this book
Being a criminal defense attorney isn't for the weak. I spent years in and out of law school and lost countless hours of sleep fighting for my dream to become an ADA, and now, aside from the bar exam, I was just handed a case that could finally help make that dream a reality.

If only there weren't other problems getting in the way.

I was thirty-three, freshly divorced after a ten year marriage and eight long months of separation, and in my most loneliest times, had secretly found comfort in a sex club called The Flirty Sanctum, and in the arms of two wildly delicious masked men who call themselves Spike and Phoenix. My ex-husband was stalking me, a young girl was assaulted at the sanctum, and my love life was clashing with my job in a way I'd never anticipated possible.

I wished that was the worst of it.

When all of it comes collapsing down on my shoulders and wedges me in an impossible position, I'm left with a choice that could potentially cost me everything, even my life.

It wasn't just a normal day in the office when you're the target of a Twisted Attraction.

Was this book entertaining? Sure. But it was not my favorite romantic suspense book by a long shot.

First, I couldn't get past the name of the shmex club lol. For some reason, it just sounded tacky to me and made me giggle every time it was mentioned.

The investigation throughout the book was interesting though! I honestly could've done without the MFM relationship because that part of the story wasn't pulling me at all compared to the actual criminal investigation. And while the story ends with a cliffhanger, I kinda have a strong hunch who the assailant is. The problem is I didn't love the book enough to read part 2 and figure out if my guess is correct. I guess I'll be digging for spoilers lol

Already 5 stars within the first 2 chapters. Five Finger Death Punch. You got me there!! But OMG THAT ENDING NO!!!!!! I think I know who the villain is in the book but I need to read book two now. That ending no, no no no no no no no! There's no way the author's going to end it like that and leave me on this cliffhanger! If I don't get booked too soon I'm going to scream! This is such a good book honestly read this book I can't wait for the second one. UGH I NEED IT!

2.5 ⭐️⭐️

After my most anticipated 5 ⭐️ read of this year, i wanted a palette cleanser kind of book and this is exactly that.
It's a dark romance MFM crime thriller. It was okay? i guess?
In the beginning, it actually better than i thought it would be (even though i had extremely low expectations) but as time went on it just got worse.

I thought it was very cringy and the fact that the sex club is called The Flirty Sanctum...no.
The two mmc's are called Phoenix and Spike.... and no, they are not code names. Their BIRTH names are Phoenix and Spike.
Also, it was very unrealistic and annoying that even the two mmc's have met and have been having sex with the fmc FOR MONTHS!!!!
and when all of them both end up working together on a case, it took them way too fucking long to recognise each other.
Don't even get me started on how many times Phoenix and Spike are growling.... one or twice, i can look past thoses red flags but it was MANY times. ew.

In terms of the actual romance, where the fuck was it? We saw them have sex maybe 3 times then all of a sudden their in love???? So forgettable and unbelievable purely due to the way it was written tbh.
Everyone felt a tad 1 dimensional. The actual smut okay. Good but nothing memorable.

ALSO!!!! you cannot tell me that Phoenix and Spike weren't at least a little bit gay. Like, the sub/dom dynamic are screaming homo.... 🤷‍♀️

I did enjoy the rape cases these detectives are working on and the whole thriller/crime aspect of it. (Even though it totally overtook the romance and made the romance a kind of bad subplot?)
I feel like I knew pretty early on the Karl is being framed and istg I guess from the VERY beginning that it is Peter (Charlotte fmc's attorney) who's the perpetrator.
However, it ended on a weird cliffhanger so now i have to read book 2 to find out who did it...
idk if i can be arsed to read book 2 if I'm honest.
[apparently she get pregnant in book 2. Like, in the epilogue... no thanks!]

One criminal defense attorney, an ex-husband, and a sex club

Charlotte's life has been changed a lot recently. Her ex-husband decided to cheat and she only finds out because of an accident that leaves his girlfriend dead. The ex-husband starts to stalk her. She starts visiting a secret members only sex club where she finds 2 men to lose herself in. She knows them as Phoenix and Spike and they know her only as Eve.

Suddenly Charlotte is handed a case that she needs to work with 2 local detectives. The victim is a 19 year old girl who was rapped and beaten, the catch is it happened at the sex club and it was on a night when you were in attendance.

Hutch and Rhodes are handed this rape case and advised they would be working directly with a lawyer from the DAs office. What they can't possibly expect is that the victim was in attendance to a sex club that they are both members of. Now they have to navigate the case while eliminating themselves from the suspect list so hopefully they don't lose the case. Can they find a way to work with the lawyer?

As everything starts to unravel and secrets start to come out who or what will be the next casualty? Can Charlotte keep her personal life out of everything that is happening? Will her ex-husband put her at more risk? Who is the killer and why does she seem to be at the heart of everything that is going on?

So through all of the little hints that are given I want to say I know who it is and kind of why. I can't wait to find out what happens as everything is crashing down and the killer is getting closer to Charlotte every time.

Will the people she cares about make it out alive? Will Charlotte every get her dream job? Will she finally be able to make peace with everything her ex put her through and is still dropping in her lap? Will this new relationship give her more than she ever expected or will it be her ultimate downfall?

Suspenseful

Love this first part of the duet, such an amazing story. I felt for Char, after finding her whole world collapsing around her when the ugly truths are revealed.
So good to see her taking control of her life again as she struggles to regain her equilibrium.
Spike and Phoenix are hot, working and playing together and with Charlotte added to the mix red hot. The mystery and forbidden nature of their liaisons just added to the illicit thrill.
The complications that arise when private and work lives collide make for some emotional packed scenes, this is so good. Really into this story and can’t see where we go next.
Charlotte is such a good person, really want her to succeed, can’t wait for the second part of this story.

Fantastic!
The storyline, the main characters, I loved it all! I didn't want to stop until the end. Then, we have twists and turns. I started thinking one thing, and then I would second guess myself.

Filled with mystery, suspense, spicy times, emotional moments, and more!!

Charlotte, Spike and Phoenix, these 3 are so hot together.
Charlotte is smart, independent, and has a good heart. She way more forgiving than I would be.

I think this was a fantastic start to the duet. I have so many questions, but I also have a few suspicions.
I need book 2 as soon as possible because I need answers regardless!!!

You cannot convince me to like Spike
.. using her ex husband against her to get her removed from the case, outing her at the police station that he knows her real identity, being pissed she was doing a better job than her at their case... Then he ignores her, has sex with her & then apologizes. If he truly was sorry ge would have apologized before the sex & the fact that ha made her say sorry during sex was disgusting imo. I don't like Spike at all.. he has done nothing for her or even treated her nicely . One apology isn't enough for what he did, he only seems to care about her during sex not like his buddy.

This is a fantastic MFM romance with many twists and turns. Charlotte works for the D.A.'s office and is put on a case that she should stay away from. She is tasked to work with Detectives Rhodes and Hutch. Someone is hurting women, and they keep hitting roadblocks at every turn. Even the ex-husband Karl gets thrown in the mix. I devoured this book and can't wait til the next one, especially after that crazy cliffhanger!! I definitely recommend this book, but please be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.

Well this was a fun, spicy, little story! A crime thriller, with interesting characters that kept me gripped to the page.

We obviously knew who Charlotte, Phoenix and Spike were, but I was just waiting for the day they'd figure it out. I loved these three together!

They're still trying to solve this mystery together, and I think I know what is really going on, but I can't wait to see, in the next book!

This was the first I'd read from this author. I'll definitely be reading more.

The Best Start of a Duet

I fell in love with this book from chapter 1, and I didn't put it down until I was finished. Charlotte, Spike, and Phoenix captured not only my heart but my attention, and I need more! The mystery contained in this book leaves you on the edge of your seat, dying to figure out who is behind everything. Every time you think they have something figured out, another twist is thrown in. This was such an amazing start to the duet, and I can not wait for book 2 to see how the conclusion is going to be!

Man, oh, man! I cannot wait for the next book.

This was so hard to put down! I like how easy it was to relate to the characters. I feel so bad for Charlotte for all she’s having to go through right when she’s trying to put her life back together after divorcing her ex-husband. And I can’t wait to see where her relationship goes with her couple of detectives.

There were some things I saw coming, some that I just didn’t expect and clues I just didn’t put together until they were mentioned in the book. 🤣

I’m looking forward to seeing who the mystery guy is. I definitely have my suspicions 🤔

What the heck?? Lol

Charlotte is working on a case with two detectives. Little does she know that she knows them and almost everyone else involved. Spike and Phoenix are the detectives working with her and they didn't realize that they knew her intimately as well.
This book is a good read. I'm almost positive I know who done it, but I could be wrong. This cliffhanger has me on the edge!!!

Kinda boring to be honest. I’m pretty sure I know who the stalker/r*pist is but I don’t really care enough to read the next book. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Charlotte, Phoenix, and Spike and I thought the suspense was too slow.
