DNAlien tells the intriguing story of a top-secret government program that planned to create a new form of life by combining DNA taken from alien bodies with a normal human embryo. Taking place within an ultra-secret facility hidden on the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base located in Fort Worth, Texas, success ultimately occurs. Years ahead of their civilian counterparts, the military and government scientific personnel finally hit upon the magical combination of alien DNA and human embryonic tissues that result in a being that hopefully will posses the traits desired from both sources. As a result, the creature Gene (Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement) grows under the strict observation of a small group of individuals assigned to the Fort Worth base. His existence is so closely guarded only a few very high-ranking officials (including the President of the United States) are aware of him and the program. Things turn serious however when Gene escapes from the facility and tries to avoid the massive clandestine search for him during the worst terrorist attack on America¿ the days following 9/11! Will Gene be recovered soon or is it all too late? Read the book to find out.
Beyond its main theme, which is quite interesting and full of fiction, is the way this book is written, which keeps the reader in complete suspense and with all five senses involved in the reading. One is surprised by the ability of Jim West, the author of DNAlien, to be inventive, to create a plot where the main character, Gene is a person whose DNA is combined by humans and aliens, and not fall into monotony or lead the reader to want to stop reading, for too much fiction. As the reading progresses, the reader feels in a labyrinth of emotions and suspense, because he does not know what is going to happen, and as a consequence he will not want to stop reading.
Every time I come across a book with aliens as protagonists, I can’t help but purchase it. But not all of them are as good as this one. DNAlien is one of the best sci-fi thrillers I have read so far. A book that explores the themes of genetic experimentation, scientific ambitions, ethical boundaries, and moral complexities in one single narrative deserves a 5-star review, as the one I have just given.
This novel is a must for science fiction fans and for avid readers of proper narratives. It appeals to the four senses, and it makes one feel we are right there experiencing each and every action conveyed. Thanks for this book, author West!
One thing that is certain about this novel is that it will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. One of the U.S. government's most important secrets has escaped, and its search will unleash a series of events that will endanger not only the creature's life but also the secret program. This novel is filled with action, covert missions, hidden places, and narrow escapes. It is exciting and absorbing and blurs the line between fiction and reality. This novel certainly sparks curiosity, and I must highlight the author's cleverness in adding layers of suspense and conspiracy. I highly recommend ''DNALIEN'' . You will not regret reading it.
