Drake Felker Mrs.Sceifers November 28, 2017 Library Media Hewitts Law Hewitt’s Law is a colorful and exciting autobiography by Jack Hewitt. Starting from Jack’s childhood all the way up to the third time he broke his neck and was forced to retire, everything is covered in this book. A second generation racer, Hewitt’s Dad was a sprint car driver who lost his eye racing in the 60’s at Eldora. You certainly won’t want to miss the outrageous and at times absolutely unbelievable stories you will see.
Traveling the country from the 70’s into the 90’s, there are tales of fights with other drivers, breaking down in the middle of nowhere, nearly dying from a severed neck and everything in between. Beyond this country, Jack was a frequent visitor to Australia where he drove Midgets during the winters here. While in Australia, Jack was involved in a rather heated argument with one of the local favorites which resulted in being ganged up on by many of them and beat down pretty good. Jack has calmed down a bit and found religion in his later years, often speaking in Church.
Hewitt’s Law was a very outstanding book to me. It had a lot of very good tales and stories from Jack’s life growing up. I would recommend anyone to read this book because it's an autobiography. Autobiographies are very interesting to me as they are a first person account about people who are important to me and how they became successful. This is one of the top Autobiographical books I have ever read. This book ranges from serious stories to funny stories from Jack's trips of racing around the world.
This book is absolutely suited for an adult audience who doesn’t mind profane language and mature situations. Hewitt’s Law teaches just how profound a transformation people are capable of going through. Early in his life, Jack had no fear of death and would fight at any moment. Later, however, he is now a very calm and religious person who stays far away from the edge. D. Felker
