Най-нелепата книга не за годината, а за десетилетието. Със заглавие "Гладиатори", което ме привлече да я поръчам, тя е напълно подвеждаща. Още като я разгърнах и се натъкнах на "Мусаши", се смях с глас, понеже всичко около мен в крайна сметка клони натам, даже и в гладиаторската книга.
Но много скоро ми стана ясно, че ще е една омазана и омотана манджа написана с безброй повторения и никаква логика и адски безвкусна. Сигурна съм за гладиаторите може да се напише повече от 120 стр.( моя формат е джобен и е 440 стр)
От боевете изведнъж стигнахме до авиацията и рицарските дуели, които са всичко друго, но не и двубой с "голи ръце". Разбира се, в главата за пилотите българският принос не е споменат. Накрая се стига до обиждане на ММА и даже авторът има нахалството да го сравнява с гръцката борба и Херкулес, а всепризнато е, че баща на ММА е Брус Лий (родоначалник и на филмите с БИ в Америка), а можем да търсим корени в разликите съревнования в различни стилове на Изток, от които авторът бяга (нарочно), защото няма представа какво пише и за какво пише. Няма ги Китай, Корея, Тайланд, Виетнам. Хайде, да кажем, че иска да пише само за битки с оръжия и то само от западна гледна точка, защото е по-лесно и нелепо, ако се потърсят корените на Изток ще трябва много по-задълбочено проучване, на което едва ли е способен. Какво правят тук самураите (само самураите, никакво карате)? А накрая на всяка част има за филмите за темата да ни каже колко са измислени. Чакай? Наистина ли? Филмите са изопачени, неверни, преекспонирани? Е, не! Братя Шоу (родоначалниците на филмите за БИ в Хонконг) елате си го спукайте от бой, че ми е смешен (тях не ги е споменал понеже не знае кои са, той знае за филма на Ридли Скот и за Херкулес толкова му стига!) все пак 2 звездички, понеже научих неща, които изобщо не ме интересуват, но всяко знание е сила, нали така (и си струваше 5-те лева)?

Interesting, eclectic and readable.

This book explores the harsh reality of one-on-one combat and is both fantastic and graphic. People with responsible minds who are interested in boxing, history, finding the truth, etc. should definitely read this.

Not a good read. Extremely superficial with many typos. The author wastes time and pages repeating information and complaining about anachronisms in popular films.

An interesting book, especially with descriptions of the notable individuals of the particular fighting style of the chapter.

The only thing I found myself skipping through was the movie influences... as I saw it as a simple description of plot lines, and nothing of much use unless you had an interest in historical films.
