niamh was deemed unworthy. by her elders, by her family. she is one of three fae's that were born at the same time and while her brother and sister were able to rise to society's standards and expectations, she was not; and she has marks to prove it. from the very beginning her elder fae's tell her to stay hidden, to not see the light of day, they have engraved in her mind that she is broken, useless and unworthy.

caspian is sired to a master but not by choice. he has been used by cassius, his master, in order to carry all the bloody business. to murder, to toy with the human world and to obviously break them into new toys for his master. cassius has been in charge of his thoughts for years, that is, until he meets niamh.

from the very beginning, niamh is the one that has been able to keep cassius away from his mind. every time she is around, she is so intoxicating towards him that he has no need for his master nor does he let his thoughts be controlled by him. with that being said, cassius obviously tries to keep him away from this girl, this broken fae.

their story is an unique one, realizing that there is more to the world than hate, more than what they knew and the world beyond the citadel might have been just what both of them needed. together, they are able to find something in each other that has not been alive in or known in neither of them for years.

I read the first 14 chapters before the book was released and was surprised the rest of the story took place in the mortal realm. I liked the atmosphere of where the fae lived due to interesting worldbuilding.

I am invested and want to read the next book in the series. Lana Sky needs to write more vampire romances 🙂‍↕️

Some more thoughts:

-Vampire hero and fae hybrid heroine. This pairing worked for me big time. I loved how they met. She was hidden away in the archives and craved connection, fascinated by the mortal realm while he was meant to seduce her for the kill at a big ceremony for one of the great fae houses.
-Worldbuilding is interesting as it leans in to mind control and the vampire hive mind or the collective mind. There are only 3 “pure” vampires that when they make other vampires control them through his mind. Caspian, made from Cassius, despises his master. When he is with Niamh he realizes he can’t hear him. He is able to make his own decisions
-The twist at the end of this cliffhanger is really neat. From being controlled by Cassius to a new master… and one he doesn’t mind! No pun intended.
-This really does feel like it should have been a December/January release because it feels like such a winter read.
-I’m excited for this series! Lana Sky has written a lot so not everything she’s written has interested me but there are a lot of stories that have. Hopeful I enjoy this series.

This was such a good book! The setting and the storyline are really unique. The author has a way of making you feel as though you’re really in the mind of the characters. I loved seeing the FMC gain her freedom and begin to learn the truth of the world. It was really interesting to see how the base, almost primal level thoughts of the MMC were in conflict with his hive mind. The twists and turns were shocking, too! I’m excited to see how everything develops in the next installment.

Lana Sky's Nocte is a dark romantasy that centers on a vampyre named Caspian and on fae Niamh.

My emotions while reading this were all over the place. Caspian was being so protective of Niamh, and one moment I was fawning over him, and the next I was detesting him.

Even though I'm not a big fan of romantasy, I was able to follow the plot of the book. Plus, everything was made better by the tropes.

This was such a great read, even though I haven't read a dark romance in a long, and I can't wait to see what Lana releases next.

*Thank you to the author, Lana Sky, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

I will preface this review with the fact that I am not a huge fantasy reader, but I do enjoy the genre.
I thought the first 50% felt very slow moving a tad repetitive and I would have preferred it to have a bit more world building.
The second half definitely captured my attention as there was a lot more action happening.
I am intrigued on where the story is going to go from here.

This book was unlike any other I have read before. This was an intriguing, dark, sinister fantasy with a different take on Fae and vampires. I was a bit confused in the beginning, but soon was hooked and couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the second book coming out this fall and hope to delve deeper into the character development of Niamh and Caspian.

Nocte by Lana Sky is such a different type of book than any I have read before. The writing style alone is so intriguing. This story has magic, vampires (known as vamryers), fae and werewolves (known as lunaria) and then some of other supernatural aspects. There’s tension and such a toxic relationship between the two main characters that makes you question your own sanity. There is also the beloved trope of don’t touch what’s mine throughout the entire story.
The story starts with Niamh,a fae, being forced to be a nobody in her society stashed away in a tower. She has to clean, organize and be invisible as she’s an “abomination” in her race. Caspian, a vamryer, comes to torment and eventually kill Niamh at behest his master. During his tormenting, Niamh gets under his skin and he fights tooth, limb and nail to keep her as his. The story continues with Niamh and Caspian escaping into the mortal realm. Niamh learns more about her heritage and Caspian realizes he is never willing to let go of Niamh. The story sort of ends on a cliffhanger, but not one that will leave you cursing Lana thankfully.
The thing I liked most about this book was that it was written so well that it made me feel like I was going insane. Caspian is the most deranged character I have ever read. Reading his deranged, hive and separated brain infected my own brain. I’m not sure if it was the format of writing or just truly being sucked into Caspian’s head. Then to read Niamh’s point-of-view made me feel truly miserable for every “sin” she committed. This story is not for the faint of heart.
My least favorite part of this story was that a majority of the back story is probably going to be explained in the next book. It made it harder to understand why Caspian is the way he is especially as you don’t really learn until the last few chapters of the book. It made I wanted more details about the surrounding characters instead of being in the bubble of Caspian and Niamh. I realize this is intentional to put you in their mindset, but still would have flushed the story out more.
I rated this a three out of five stars. It’s writing style as I said made me feel like I was going literally insane so it made it difficult to breeze through it. I definitely thought the last half of the story was where it picked up the most and was the most intriguing. I am definitely excited for the next book though!!

Wow, is all I can say! Talk about evil vampires and faes! This is book one of this series; which I know without a doubt will be another fantastic series by this wonderful author. I had to read this book twice so I could pick up what I missed since I literally devoured it.

So, let’s get to the meat of it…. Caspian is a vampire who fights his hive and master at every opportunity and loves violence. Then there is his ruthless master Cassius who is oh so controlling, devious, and obsessed with lots of evil plans of his own! Then throw into the mix an innocent fae named Niamh who is lonely and would like nothing more than to escape her mundane life, and you have a book you won’t want to put down.

In closing, the storyline was intriguing, spellbinding and oh so depraved so be prepared to buckle up because it will leave you wanting so much more!

Also, I’m excited to hear book 2 is coming out at the end of this year. I literally can’t wait!

So glad to have received this ARC! I love discovering new authors!

This book is a dark romantasy and I loveee darker fantasy books. Was very intrigued going into this story , we have forbidden love, outcasts etc. Niamh and Caspian are truly meant to be! 🙌🏼 I loved the storyline and learning about this world. I would say that at the beginning I was reading and so invested in Caspian and Niamh but towards halfway/the ending I lost the connection with the characters. Caspian’s POV each chapter was ‘I hate her’… ‘She’s mine’ but I only read more of a physical connection and the pining was there but just wasn’t my fav! This book leaves on a cliffhanger definitely will stay tuned for book 2!

ENG/ITA ARC REVIEW

ENG

Fae and vampires, secrets and magic and an unspeakable dark bond between two opposites that cannot stay away from each other. Are you ready for Nocte?

BLURB
Niamh is a tiny, broken thing held in the shadows. She's different, a neglected fae that must remain hidden because of her imperfections. Until Caspian came. The vampire is sent by his powerful master, who dictates his every move and thought, including trapping the little fae in his web. But even if Caspian despises her, he starts to feel something. Stolen moments, broken rules, other realms, they experience everything together while dangers lurk right behind them, ready to strike.

Although skeptical at first (I couldn't understand the world-building), I delved into this book and soon enough became enamoured with it and the dynamics between Caspian and Niamh, I couldn't tear my eyes from it, as every scene was intense and unexpected.

The author is incredible in keeping the tension of Caspian and Niamh's relationship. He's cruel, angry, unforgiving and unhinged. He hates her, despises her weakness, her softness, the way she speaks, she even disgusts him and he goes on with hatred until the very end. And yet he only feels something with her, he's possessive and protective, he can't understand how he can't let her go. Their gradual closeness also affects Niamh, who is shy and sad, but strong enough to keep wanting him and his safety.

It is a wondrous, marvellous story, full of darkness and blank spaces that will be filled with time and I really can't wait for volume two, because Caspian and Niamh chained me to their impossible connection, their bond which is stronger than magic.

Thank you Lana for this ARC opportunity and for your trust 💙

I was absolutely captivated by Lana’s unique writing style in this unforgettable novel, which took the story of two broken and unwanted characters and elevated it to new heights. The writing added to the characters’ uniqueness and made them all the more memorable, making it one of my favorite reads of 2024. The story revolves around an unconventional love between a fae and a vampire, set in a world heavily governed by the rules of the Citadel. My only reference to the Citadel before this was from Rick and Morty, and I have to say, the comparison is quite apt – rules must be followed in this world, and consequences are severe for those who break them.

At the heart of the story is Niamh, an imperfect fae who is hidden away in the archives due to her lack of beauty. She is pale-skinned, with dark hair and eyes, a stark contrast to the other fae and even her own brother and sister, Day. Despite the rules forbidding any visitors to see her, Day is the only one who comes to visit her. Something seems to be on Day’s mind when he visits Niamh, talking about their sister who doesn’t follow the rules, and what he is going to do about her.

On the other side of the story is Caspian, a soldier under the command of a cruel and twisted master, sent to destroy the frail fae. Caspian struggles to break free from his master’s control and remember his past, and his obsession with Niamh is both unhealthy and all-consuming.

As we delve deeper into Niamh and Caspian’s story, we learn more about the realms outside of their own, eventually ending up in the mortal realm. The twists and turns of the plot are unpredictable, and not everything or everyone is as they seem.

For those who enjoy a little spice in their reading, there are several scenes that deliver, earning the book a rating of 1-2 on the spicy scale. While the book ends on a cliffhanger, I cannot recommend it enough. Lana has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and her writing style in this book is nothing short of mesmerizing. I’m already eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.

▪️Nocte by Lana Sky
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

"I’ve been told as much my entire life. That I am ugly. Ungainly. Unworthy. An abomination of my race. A fae’s only purpose is to embody perfection, neatness, and order above all else. We are boundless. Eternal.
Any deviation from the path is a harbinger of death and destruction."

Rating 5⭐️ Spice 2🌶️
The two main characters of this book have a lot of similar parallels, despite being from such different places. Their relationship starts off very sort of transactional. The tension and the angst just build and it is so good. I love this take on the different races, it is done so well. Caspian has a very jaded outlook on the world and life as a whole. Not that he doesn’t have a reason too, but Niamh has a big reason to be the same and she isn’t, he hates her for that. One thing that really shocked me and that I loved about Niamh is that she likes Caspian as he is. She doesn’t try to change him. She likes his angry and his bitter, his “sin”. She doesn’t care that he has bloodlust and that he craves violence at times. She likes his spark and never wants that to change about him. Both of these characters have been manipulated and lied to. They both have not been cared for the way they deserve. So many times my heart broke for both of them. Their resilience is admirable. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected findings. I guessed one of them early on about the sketchbook that Niamh finds. This book was so good. It had this darkness to it, but also just such a good story line. I can’t wait for book two, there is so much more left to learn. I feel like Niamh, with her thirst for knowledge and to satiate her curiosity. Both characters really just are who they are, and very unapologetically so at times. It was refreshing. I liked some of the side characters that come in toward the last part of the book and I’m eager to see more of them in book two hopefully. I have nothing bad to say about this. I loved each second. I’m just sad it’s over.

Lana Sky has such a poetic style to her writing. Her books suck you in and by the end, you want more.
Unfortunately, that poetic style can make her novels a bit confusing. Nothing ever gets explained. Not really anyway. But her style is so unique that it doesn't really matter. I drink in her words as they just seem so passionate.
I liked Niamh and Caspian. I usually get tired of the "virginal, meek girl that knows nothing of the world" stereotype, but Lana always makes it to where it makes sense for the character.
Niamh was locked up her whole life. Never knowing the outside world. The only person in her life to ever visit is her brother. And then the vampire (sorry, vamryre is a stupid name) Caspian. Make no mistake, Caspian is evil. Evil and corrupted, all he knows is hate and death.
To get out of his masters control, Caspian and Niamh escape to the mortal world. And that's where things get interesting...
The premise of the book is really good and I enjoyed it for the most part.
I will be reading Lux to continue Niamh and Caspian's story to hopefully get some answers that were left as questions in this book. But sometimes, i wish Lana could write in a way that makes more sense. So I have a better understanding of what the heck is going on. And the contradictions get irritating. One paragraph would be "I will kill her" and the next will be "I need her". ???? Make up your mind!

Alright, gather 'round because I just dived into the dark, twisted waters of Lana Sky's "Nocte," and let me tell you, it's a wild ride!

Imagine being a loyal soldier, bound to a master so cruel that your daily mantra is "obey, hunt, kill." Enter Caspian: our brooding anti-hero who has one job and he does it with deadly precision. Then along comes Niamh, our innocent, naively hopeful heroine, who sees the world through rose-colored glasses and is willing to sacrifice anything to see it for real. Even herself. (Talk about dedication!)

Caspian sees Niamh as the perfect pawn in his sinister game, but as their paths intertwine, the lines between captor and willing victim blur. It's a classic case of who’s the real monster here? Their mutual obsession is as scorching as a summer heatwave, and just as dangerous.

Sky masterfully pulls you into a tale where love and obsession dance on the razor's edge. The psychological twists will keep you guessing, and the dark romance will leave you questioning your own moral compass. Will Caspian ever let Niamh go? Or has she willingly walked into the arms of a monster she can't escape?

If you're into dark fantasy romance with a psychological twist, this one's a must-read. Prepare for late nights and an emotional rollercoaster. 🌑💔🔪

“If anyone touches her, you die. If she dies...you die. “

📌Summary:
The story follows Niamh, a fae who her own people have banished and she lives alone with her only contact her brother Day and Caspian a vampire linked to the Master Cassius, bound to do his bidding, torture and kill.

Caspian is haunting Niamh with his absolute goal is to kill her at his master’s orders but he soon finds out that she wakes up feelings in him that he hasn’t felt before.

Naive and hopeful Niamh who wishes to see the world is ready to give everything to Caspian, even her own soul.

📌Review:
Dark Paranormal Romance at it’s finest. I adored the trope grumpy x sunshine. Caspian is so broody all the time and he hates everything that he can’t even see what’s in front of him.

I really liked the premises of the book and the spicy scenes which were very well done.

The only thing that i wanted was more world building, But fret not because this isn’t a standalone book, the next one in the series comes out this fall.

📌Thoughts:
If you love, grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, vampires x fae and dark romance, this book is definitely for you.

🥀I would like to thank the author for this wonderful arc.

This was a dark dark fantasy read and the premise for it was really good, a totally new take on fae and vampires which was refreshing 🧛 The writing was almost poetic in places and super quick to follow.
There was an also modern day twist too it further in the book which I loved 🥰 The whole vampire hive mind twist was also a really interesting take on vampires and I was super invested to see how it would all play out with our main vampire lead.

The story follows naimh a broken fae hybrid lost and isolated from her own kind, longing to break free and get to the mortal realm, but all is not as it seems when she attracts the eye of caspian and begs him to help.

If you like your males dark almost animalistic then Caspian is the one. I loved reading caspian evolve from literally being a brain washed animal like vampire to learning his humanity again, he’s so dark, so violent and lost. But he helps naimh spread her wings, her attachment with him given her treatment and mental health was interesting to read and fitted. I found myself so invested in seeing their relationship through to the end and the end certainly opened up so many more question about just about everything! So I am definitely eagerly awaiting book 2!

🌌 Nocte
🗝 Nocturnal Souls 1

I have my NEW addictive series. I feel in love the Lore that Lana has created. Both races the Vampires & Fae are more controlled & there is no "free will"

"A monster with two minds. Two hearts. Two souls."

This is a tense fantasy ,enemies to lovers and it's a retelling of Romeo & Juliet. Let's just say things get very very tense especially when it come to rules begin broken. Will they find their own paradise and finally have control over their own lives

" In this dance, he holds all the cards, a cruel puppet master. I can only sit and watch. And watch. And seethe."

Everyone can relate to Caspian & Niamh because everyone wants to know and needs to believe there is more outside our own worlds. Both want to escape their current realm and go somewhere far away from my their own oppression masters

Ahhhh this is hard not to spoil especially on the politics side of both creatures and how it affects our couple and the citizens. I feel sorry for the Vampires and how they are...no spoilers. Fae are just as bad but they have no control on who...no spoilers.

If you want a fantasy book that you can sink your teeth in lore and complex characters that are grey. And some life lesson advice that Niamh found in her books that she is forbidden to read...

I need book 2 soooo bad right now....everything is changing.....

Lana Sky absolutely sucked me into another completely immersive world, and I want more!

“I… I need to know if there is more out there. More than this.”

ARC Review:

Nocte was incredible. Let's start there! The set up of this world that Lana had created painted such a great picture. I thought the building for each species was well done and had its own fun take.

I think my favorite part of this was Caspian. As a whole. which I feel like isn't surprising because I'm a dark/grey character person. But I hadn't realized how much I craved a vampire just being evil and it being executed well. Absolutely fantastic. His inner turmoil of trying to recognize his own thoughts and feelings over the hive mind was so fascinating.

Also, being said, I really enjoyed Niamh. Also, very unsurprisingly, I always find a little bit of myself in characters who are dealing with struggling to express their own wants. I thought her character was great, and her feelings were so strong.

The biggest thing I enjoyed the fact that we had an FMC that didn't know the world and wasn't constantly braided for asking things.

I highly recommend this if you're looking for a dark romantsy with suspense and great characters. Man! I can't wait for the next one!

Review:

Niamh is the outcast of her kind. She doesn’t fit in anywhere. She doesn’t have her “people.” She is alone, until she meets and befriends Caspian. Caspian is assigned a job by his master. He must hunt and kill Niamh. He does much more than just hunt her, though. He realizes he is starting to develop feelings for her and he cannot go through with his master’s orders of killing her. This puts Caspian at a divide.

Niamh is ready to give Caspian everything just so she can live freely and see the world that is hidden from her. It all comes at a cost, but it’s a cost Niamh is willing to pay the price of.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book. It is much different from other books I have read and I didn’t know if I would like it. I’m so so glad I gave this book a chance, though, as it turned out to be better than I imagined!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Nocte, the first book in Lana Sky's Nocturnal Souls series, is an enthralling paranormal romance that plunges readers into a dark, intricate world where the fae and vamryres coexist in a delicate, turbulent balance. Set within the Citadel, a place of ancient alliances and fraught power dynamics, the story follows Niamh, an outcast fae who feels bound by an identity imposed upon her, and Caspian, a vamryre whose rebellious nature makes him a dangerous enigma. Their intertwined fate reveals secrets that threaten to unravel the Citadel’s fragile peace.

Lana Sky’s talent shines in the atmospheric and rich setting, where every scene carries an undercurrent of danger and allure. The alternating perspectives of Niamh and Caspian bring depth to their inner conflicts, as Niamh wrestles with self-worth and Caspian seethes against his oppressive vamryre masters. Sky’s writing vividly captures their chemistry, making their tension-filled interactions a compelling core to the story.

Exploring themes of identity, defiance, and the longing for acceptance, Nocte is a gripping read for fans of dark fantasy and slow-burn romance. Sky’s storytelling melds romance with a world of paranormal intrigue, making this book a must-read for anyone looking for a richly woven fantastical journey.

Trying to find the words to describe this book isn't easy, it crosses so many genres: Fantasy, dark, forbidden romance and psychological thriller to name but a few.

Caspian our dark anti-hero is a vamryre (vampire to those of us in the 'mortal realm). Taken by Cassius, one of the only three pure-blood vamryres left and part of the hive mind Cassius has very little control over his actions. "This is what we are by nature as undead, lingering beings shunned by nature".

Niamh our self-named heroine is born of the fae but being a hybrid is not accepted by the fae and lives a life of isolation and subservience without even a name. "I must be shunned for my own benefit".

When the two meet, it quickly becomes explosive.

This book has left me with more questions than answers. I can see it potentially becoming an epic romantasy series. There is plenty of action but still a little room for more character development. We have so much more to learn about Caspian's back story and about the house of Aurelius and it's siblings.

This book sucked me in and spat me out at the other end leaving me mulling it over in my head and still yearning for the next book in the series.

First off, this is just the begining and their is a cliffhanger ending. That being said, I found this book unique. This book starts out in The Citadel which is a realm of paranormal creatures - fae, vampires, etc. This is where we meet Niamh who is a fae but leads a drastically different life then the rest of her kind. When given the opportunity, our girl is fearless and willing to trade anything for an opportunity to see a museum. Caspian is a vampire who was created by one of the original three, Cassius. Caspian is his master's puppet but he is given a task that he finds himself rebelling against for various reasons. The story takes a turn and we transition to the The Mortal Realm. This sets off another string of character tests that pull these two characters closer and they fight pull. This is just the surface of the story but I can guarantee I am hooked and cannot wait for more. I love the creativity that this author brings to her stories and the out of the box opportunity to create a masterpiece. Enjoy!
I read this book as an ARC from the author but purchased it for my forever library.

Reiterativo y exclamativo. Me encantó.

I was captured by the hearts of the two imperfect main characters here. You have a very unconventional love story between a vampire and a fae, told against the backdrop of the world which seems to be more heavily controlled by the fae and the rules of the Citadel. Niamh is our FMC, a fae who is hidden away in the archives among the dusty books and told essentially it’s because of her wrongness and the things that make her appear ‘other’ when compared to her peers. She has one brother, Day, who breaks rules and sneaks to see her, but otherwise she is punished for perceived infractions and shunned. Caspian is our MMC, a vampire who was been turned by one of the ruling three. He is on a mission from his master, but he is not entirely under his thrall. He is also somewhat obsessed with Niamh and remembering his past. These two meeting and coming together sets off a chain of events that were unpredictable to me as a reader and kept me flipping pages furiously. I can’t wait to see where the story takes us in the next book.
