The American The Untold Story documents in exciting and vivid detail the Biblically based principles and personalities that formed the foundation for America's economic, governmental, legal, educational, and spiritual institutions. The brilliant strategy of our Founders is contained in this volume and is providing hope for families and nations worldwide.
For this to be the untold story of America, it must include the driving out of the natives and the kidnapping and unspeakable horrors done against the dark skin Africans. There is much of the untold story that is absolutely necessary to disclose in order to deal with the demons of today in America. Narration by omission of bare, ugly facts in order to glorify the British stealing of land and people groups to build a nation with government set to serve the fair skin Europeans is not acceptable. It, by default, is a lie. Even with the history disclosed in this book, telling of the whole truth ... even prior to American history of the reason the British greed for land.
In addition, true Christians could not write with pen their love for God as they created the laws of the stolen land, while making it legal to steal land and people, sell the latter, and treat them worst than animals. No, that does not please God in the least, though He allowed it.
The British used their knowledge without Godly wisdom or guidance. Via deductive reasoning, took principles from God's Holy Word, and applied it to the man-made laws of this land that would serve the fair skin Europeans. Not the people they stole the land from, or the Africans that they stole their very national identity from.
Before you can tell the untold story of the covenant created by man for America, you must go back further and wreckon with the facts of their intent, and the actions they took to obtain a land that did not belong to them.
Excellent book. Makes you realize how much ground Christians have lost in America. The frame work of our constitution was based on the belief that the population would, for the most part, follow Christian principles. Now, in a culture where that is no longer the case, we can see how Justice is no longer properly served by the constitution. In law schools, we are being taught that there is no "justice." We are taught that "Justice" is a nice idea, but can not really be accomplished. The fact is that no constitution or set of laws can force a people to be moral; each generation must choose this independently. Unfortunately this generation has chosen improperly, and we will continue to see justice thwarted and the constitution twisted. This will happen until we realize the foundation upon which the constitution was formed... the Judeo/Christian worldview.
Great book. Does not deal with theonomy too much (but Gary North and R.J. Rushdoony are cited, so that is a plus). Overall, this a great book, written over thirty years ago. I love Marshall Foster; his passion is contagious.
This book dangerously proclaims an American gospel contrary to the kingdom that Jesus spoke of. (e.g. A self governing Christian, America being the city on a hill, American liberty being the hope of all nations). Scripture is used out of context. There's poor argumentation, statements are unclear (e.g. Author's explanation of Christian nation), and logical fallacies abound. Of course, some statements are true and good, like following the Shema and the Great Commission, but the overall thesis of a recovery of the American covenant (Mayflower Compact) and going back language is troubling. This is a false twisted gospel and poor understanding of biblical covenant!!
D wrote a review of this book detailing atrocities from our history that have been told without understanding what has not been told. Which colony and which group of people were responsible for those atrocities causing curses to fall upon our nation? Which people and what colonies brought forth that which has blessed our nation and secured our liberty and Constitution longer than any other form of government in the history of mankind?
Marshal Foster gives us an introduction to a few men and their divine protection and inspiration from God. I read this book when it was new 30 years ago and praise God for this labor of love.
The Bible says, “if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ASV
This book was a wonderful informative look at the history of America from the Biblical Worldview and the effect Christianity had on the new world. It was interesting and keep your attention which is something that a book on this topic may not do. However, I did have to stop reading at several point to look up specific references that were being made on different topics. I think the author's presupposed that the readers of this book may have extensive knowledge which I was lacking. That is the only reason I did not give the book a five. I think some additional background information on a few topics would have been helpful. I do have a history degree so if I needed additional help on a several references, I am sure that others without that background would like the same information added to the book.
Fascinating read that brings many details to light that have been overlooked and swept under the rug (arguably with a purpose) for many years and especially in today’s American society. If you’re one who enjoys history quotes, this book is chalked full of them.
In response to those criticizing this read as not being “an all inclusive book, detailing the suffering of every and all ethnic groups of the time,” you have missed the point of the author’s intentions (not to mention it is clearly addressed that those topics are not the focus; they are addressed within the pages).
Well worth the time to read and first book of the new year to shelve.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I will mostly let my one-star rating (only because zero was not an option) speak for itself. Still, I would like to make a suggestion for anyone directed to this book (likely from a Christian pastor, church leader, or child actor turned right-wing activist). You've likely been told you can't trust "secular" historians and that Mr. Foster (not a historian by credentials, by the way) represents an alternative from a "Christian perspective". I won't try to convince you that's the wrong way to think about history, but please, please at least also read Robert Tracy McKenzie's "We The Fallen People". McKenzie is both a well-credentialed historian and a Christian. You may be reading Foster because you love your country and your family, and he was presented as a "truth teller". You owe it to yourself, your country, and your family to contrast Foster's telling with that of McKenzie's.
This book uses history and the Bible to tell us where we started as a Christian nation, how we’ve got to this point in history (which is shameful because it provided numerous examples of just repeating history today which is madness), and how to get back to where we started. Very enlightening (and disappointing) of how we have let our country become what it is today. We must step up and take back the greatest country in the world. As I have said before, our Founding Fathers, even at their young age, were geniuses compared to the completely feckless, spineless and corrupt idiots destroying our country today. We must elect (with term limits, no pay and no pension), men of a Godly character (it should be mandatory to be part of their platform, including their check-kiting, bankruptcies, spousal abuse, etc., of their lives.)
This was one of the most enjoyable books I've read in the last couple of years. Much meaningful context added to numerous principles, stories and historical events/documents that I was previously aware, but unaware of this context. Additionally, there were many other stories and documents of which I was previously unaware and were wonderful additions to my understanding of the history of the formation of our country.
An absolute must read for every Patriot and Christian!
This book is excellently and simply written, detailing how and why we came to live in the greatest Nation on earth. We are in grave danger of losing what so many have given their lives for…freedom, if we don’t turn back to the biblical principles on which this Country was founded on. I highly recommend this book, thank you Marshall Foster for writing it.
I just finished reading this terrific book! I would recommend getting the version with forward by Kirk Cameron. It is history told using the biblical approach. A quote from the book to think about is: “Would we be willing to die to protect our children today from the anti biblical teachings of the government schools?”
Very informative with lots of history! One Nation Under God! We need to get back to God who has provided for us. America was founded on Judeo-Christians. Our Declaration of Independence and US Constitution are based on Judeo-Christian principles. Without God, we lose our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
