I really didn't like anything about this, to be honest. It obviously works for some readers, but for me this was a total miss and only succeeded in making me laugh because I found it absolutely ridiculous. The cover is cute though so at least it looks good in my Year in Books, lol

This was a DNF for me. I pretty much knew that right out of the gate but thought I'd see how bad it got and how long I could take it. I should have known considering it was a freebie Kindle offering. I made it about halfway before I just couldn't stomach the half-hearted attempt at writing romance any longer. The problem is that the author knows some of the right typical romance book phrases. However there is an art to writing believable dialogue and this writer just doesn't have it. It read like bad fanfic. Maybe with some more experience this author will eventually get there, but this book is a wash. I'm mystified that I'm seeing so many 4/5 star reviews for this.

Hmm not sure what to make of this one. Tried to be funny but was mostly pratfalls and cheap humor. I really didn't care for the basis of the plot line, which is that Willa's alcoholic father runs up a bunch of debt (yet again) and Jameson tells her she has to work at his garage for free to pay it off. Um wut?
Her life was just sad, dealing with all of the BS from her father and constantly being obligated to pay his debts. At one point, Thanks to her dad's crap, she has to work multiple low-paying jobs. I lost track of how many times she realized she forgot to do laundry and had to pull dirty clothes out of a pile to wear.
And then her love interest? Imagine a guy falling for you (though we never find out why exactly he does) and in order to spend more time with you, he makes you work for him for free on top of working multiple other jobs. What a keeper, am I right? (Sarcasm ofc) Also never addressed was why Jameson, the “good guy”, essentially blackmailed her into working for free for him at his garage to pay off her father’s debt I guess he did it to spend time with her? But that is not good guy material. Also the men in the shop treated her like a servant. Overall an OK read.

Willa has always had a bit of a crush on Jameson, but she is surprised when he finally acknowledges her. Only to demand she work off her father's debt to him. So she starts as a receptionist at his garage, and they bicker away.
I rather liked this story. I thought they had good chemistry. Willa was a bit of a push-over concerning her dad (to say it mildly) but overall I did enjoy the romance. 3,5 stars, rounded up to 4 because I kept reading.

I liked the sassy-clumsy Willa, but as someone who overthinks everything, there was something/things being said that she didn’t think about at all.
The author obviously wanted to hook the readers for the revelation at the end, which turned out to be... unsatisfying.
The plot was mediocre. The same pattern just repeated itself over and over again..

"You're under arrest...." could things get any worse? Of course, they can! It's not her fault that her bike crashed into Officer Ray as he insisted on being called. It's not like he didn't copy her work all through high school, but whatever... And then he yells 'gun' to his partner and the next thing she knows she is on the ground being handcuffed. Except it is not a gun, it's a bright pink dildo. Here's how it all began.
She is out clubbing with her best friends Mazie and Stella when they notice Mr. Tall Dark and Broody watching her. Jamison Drake is known for his conquests and Willa is surprised to have drawn his attention. As she is getting in her car after leaving the club she finds that Jamison has followed her. She is surprised that he knows her name, but her thoughts that he was interested in her come to a screeching halt and she lets him have it.
Jamison has just informed her that her father owes him money and put her as his alternate which meant that she now owed the debt and he was giving her 24 hours to pay up. Twenty-four hours...for $20,000! She is furious! Her dad is a drunken gambler who has lost everything and now he drags her into his mess.
Besides attending college Willa has two jobs so she can pay her dad's bills on top of her own. She has a total of $4 in her account which has to last until her next paycheck. Jamison is crazy if he thinks she can come up with anything to pay off her father's debt. When he shows up the next day and she again explains that she isn't responsible for her dad's money problems, Jamison totally ignores her and tells her she will be paying off the debt. She will be working at his garage over the summer and her salary would go against what was owed.
Just what she needed...to spend the summer getting lost in Jamison's gorgeous eyes. The man was a walking dream....that was until he opened his mouth! Did the man even know how to smile?
I loved this book! It is hilarious from page one. Willa lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone and their business. Which is unfortunate because she is well-known by the police who call her almost nightly to come pick up her dad.
The book is very well written and the characters are very relatable. Willa is funny and sarcastic and Jamison is moody and hides the real reason he wants her working in his garage. Willa can't seem to keep out of embarrassing situations and I died laughing. Willa's dad on the other hand needs a huge intervention - he is so drunk and clueless as to what he is doing to Willa.
I am reviewing this book from an audio standpoint and Ava Erickson is spot on with her delivery. Highly recommend!

It was supposed to a romantic comedy, but it wasn't funny according to me. If the author thought that the pranks between Willa and Landon was supposed to the comedy then I don't know what to say.
I have to say Willa here seems to be enabling her dad to drink. Always picking him up, from either the police station or Vegas, cleaning his trailer, working 2 jobs which then becomes 3 jobs and that one job was to pay for her dad's debt (in the end it was a lie). She did demand her dad to stop drinking at the end, it was after she went to pick her dad up in Vegas after he gambled his car away, and after she had to play poker with her body as a collateral. Good thing she wins.

Willa is trying her best to help her sad pay his debts. She works 2 jobs and goes to school. Jameson is the garage owner that Willa's dad owes money to. What better way to pay the debt than to have her work for him? He's a hot and broody alpha and she's an independent woman just looking to get by.
This story was awesome. I loved the relationship between Willa and Jameson. I especially enjoyed seeing the softer side to him, even if it wasn't any less alpha! Willa's dad annoyed me but I found by the end that I came to like him more than I did in the beginning. I especially enjoyed the secondary characters in Clay, Landon & Mason. And I'm so hoping they each get their own story!
Definitely a 5 star must read book, this author is one that everyone should read!

I absolutely loved this book. It was witty, hilarious and entertaining from start to finish. But what I loved most was how much you end up caring for the characters by the end.
Willa is such a quirky, unusual and original character that you can’t help but fall in love with her. Life is just against her and no matter what she does, it doesn’t get any better. Then we have Jameson who is…I’m not going to give it away.
I literally couldn’t put this book down (and I’ve read it twice already!) I loved the plot, the humour and the originality of the story. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something fun and flirty.

Great read
Picked this up as a freebie and what a surprise i really loved this book it was funny heartwarming a great romance book all round. I will be reading more by this author. So in saying that give this book a chance you wont regret it one bit !!!!! I even think its better then some books out there been written by well established authors. Well done !!!!!

Love the romance!
The read made you feel like you were apart of the story. At first I was a little worried that maybe Willa was trading one controling man for another( dad vs Jameson) but in the end Jameson's always letting Willa make the final chose won me over to his side. Could not put it down.

In a way, this book reminded me a bit of a fun Beauty and the Beast romantic comedy tale. Willa's father is a gambler and now he has gambled away too much money and owes a couple of loan sharks. One of them Jameson Drake has come to collect and since Willa's dad doesn't have the money, he has come to Willa to collect. Now she has 24 hours to come up with the money or else. Since she hasn't got that much cash lying around, she now will become indebted to Jameson Drake. He has a way for her to pay her dad's debt by being a receptionist/office manager at the Mechanics he owns. Now Willa is trying to juggle her two jobs and college classes to pay her dad’s debt. What will happen though when she starts to fall for Jameson Drake? Is she suffering from a case of Stockholm Syndrome or are the feelings both mutual? However, just when things are starting to look up for Willa - another set of loan sharks, this time worse than Jameson Drake's end up kidnapping her? Is Willa destined to be passed around loan sharks or will her luck change with love in the air? Some Call it Love by Sarah Peis was a fun romantic comedy with sweet elements and I am now looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Sarah Peis is a new author to me. I’m in two minds with this book. There were parts that I really enjoyed and others I found hard to read.
My heart broke for Willa and the circumstances she finds herself in through no fault of her own. Her father is a real piece of work and although I felt sorry for him there were times I really disliked him. I’m also in two minds about Jameson Drake, he obviously had feelings for Willa but the way he expressed them is what I question. When Jameson calls in her father’s debt by insisting Willa work the debt off at the garage I wasn’t overly impressed with his behaviour.
I had a hard time understanding how Willa could let Jameson walk all over her, I know she had a crush on him but she let him get away with atrocious behaviour at times which frustrated me a great deal.
It is obvious that there is an attraction that sizzles between Jameson and Willa but I cannot help but question the foundation it was built on. The narration was very good, pleasant, easy to listen to with characters that I admit I had a hard time relating to.

I'm never a fan of how these books are written--first person POV with weird internalized comments--but it was a quick and easy read for my trip to Baltimore! And let me tell you, I thought the story was really really cute! I was more in love with Jameson than Willa honestly--I want a book from his POV. This story reminded me a lot of Beautiful Disaster with the broody alpha male, gambling, and a daughter with a dead beat dad whom she has to try to fix all of his mistakes. But their love story unfolded pretty well. It was not perfectly written and definitely could've used some more explanation or detail for some of the chapters (like how and why Jameson fell in love with her 5 years ago just by looking at her..?) but overall was a cute story and would highly recommend for a quick and easy read.

A fun, enemies to lovers romance read / listen with our main characters Willa and Jameson. I fell in love with Willa and her quirky-ness and Jameson is more than what he initially seems. I love a romance that can make me bust into spontaneous laughter and this one did just that. A sweet, funny romance that is captivating from the start. Good narration to bring these characters to life. I hope this is just the beginning to this series.
