Re-read - K.F. Breene’s Demigods of San Francisco series is one of those rare collections that feels like stepping into a world that’s already alive—vibrant, chaotic, emotional, and wickedly fun. Your reaction fits the experience perfectly, because Breene doesn’t just write paranormal romance; she builds universes that grab you by the collar and refuse to let go.
This six‑book set is Breene at her absolute best. Every installment is packed with that signature blend of humor, heart, and high‑stakes magic that makes her stories so addictive. She has this uncanny ability to make you laugh at the most ridiculous banter one moment and then, without warning, hit you with a scene so emotional you have to pause and breathe. It’s that balance—wild humor and genuine vulnerability—that makes the series unforgettable.
Her worldbuilding is ridiculously immersive. You don’t just read about San Francisco infused with demigods, power struggles, and supernatural politics—you see it, feel it, and start wishing you could book a weekend trip there (preferably with a demigod bodyguard in tow). Every character, from the leads to the side cast, feels like someone you could bump into on the street… if the street happened to be patrolled by magical elites and the occasional murderous entity.
And the romance? Deliciously sinful is exactly the right phrase. Breene writes chemistry like it’s a superpower—slow burn, explosive payoff, emotional depth, and that perfect touch of danger. You can practically feel the sparks flying off the page.

As expected, another winner and a wonderful paranormal romance that is so deliciously sinful. K.F. does PNR like no other, and I have high expectations that she continually exceeds. I have not read one story that she has written that I have not loved and that has not wowed me. I love seeing new worlds coming to life and meeting new characters, and with K.F.’s wordsmithing she lets you see every single nook and cranny and vivid life of both. She always writes a story that is so unique and enthralling and so original that you can’t put them down, you have to know what is happening right away. This story is a complete delight in oh so many ways. K.F. builds so many emotions in the story and you always find yourself laughing out loud with the crazy goings on and banter between the characters. But don’t be fooled there is equal amounts of times that you will also need a tissue. Well done girl you always set the bar exceedingly high!

2.3 (but I had a good time)
I refuse to count this as a series. It’s one long book that someone chopped into six uneven pieces and called a day. Calling Sin & Chocolate (Book 1) a standalone is a crime, nothing happens in it. It’s the most “first 100 pages of a romantasy” setup I’ve ever read. Urban fantasy scaffolding, vibes, vibes, more vibes... and then credits roll. You blink and it’s over. So let’s just consider this as one, drawn-out book and move on.
Alexis Price is a spirit walker (allegedly). That means she can see the dead and do soul magic or something along those lines. But honestly? The most compelling thing about her is that she’s the guardian of two wards, Mordecai and Daisy. Those two carried the series. Sure, sometimes they felt like caricatures of themselves, always delivering tag-team dialogue like creepy twins in a haunted hallway, but at least they had personality. Daisy, in particular, is a standout. She’s fun, unique, and actually written with more dimension than half the romantasy heroines out there.
Meanwhile, Kieran (the main love interest) is exactly what you’d expect. Broody, rich, powerful, handsome, emotionally distant... a.k.a. discount paperback Rhysand #47. He’s not bad, he’s just there. Honestly, Daisy had more chemistry with the page than he did.
Cartoonish evil vilalins, of course, because we can't have depth. Mustache-twirling, one-note, and entirely forgettable. But hey, I wasn’t reading this for villain nuance. Zorn and Jack were fun side characters, Zorn giving off strong "unbothered chaotic uncle" energy, and Jack... well, I was gutted when I heard what happened to him. And then they just... reversed it. No tension, no problem. He's fine now. Okay then.
The plot is incredibly easy to follow, but also somehow nothing really happens. It's just one low-stakes side quest after another: free Kieran’s mom from hell-limbo by recovering her skin (sure), release captive ghosts (yep, handled), defeat evil demigod lady who’s obsessed with Kieran (naturally). None of it feels particularly difficult. There’s no real struggle. It all unfolds like the characters are just checking off errands on a supernatural to-do list. “Save the world” has the same urgency as “grab milk.”
And yet, I had a good time. It’s fast, entertaining, easy listening, and honestly the GraphicAudio production makes it feel like an Netflix special crossed with a D&D session narrated by a very committed improv group. If I had read this on Kindle, I might have been harsher. But as a full-cast audio drama it was alright.

This series is one of my favorite re-reads and I feel like I discover something new to love about it each time. The world building, plot, characters (both main and secondary), tropes, and twists and turns all transport the reader into the world the author has created, making one reluctant to leave when the story is over. This series has something for everyone. It shares rank with my all time favourite series from Ilona Andrews, T.A. White, Jessie Mihalik and other UF faves. Highly recommended!

This series has a LOT of cheesy moments. If you listen to the graphic audio alongside reading the books, it can get difficult to keep up because the audio does not follow the words verbatim. All that aside, I still thoroughly enjoyed the series, and K.F. Breene has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This is my second completed series of hers, and I'm already almost finished with the third.

These series of books is fantastic. There’s the family we make not bond by blood but by survival. The wit, the banter, the action. It’s everything I look for when wanting to read a good book. KF Breene is so good at writing snark and sarcasm, she’s also very good at writing background characters. Every character feels like a main character. I have never read another author that’s good at doing this. She makes you fall in love with everyone even the bad guys.

I loved the real world with magic take. I loved the characters. But something missed its mark. I didn't connect with these books the way I wanted to. I dont know if it was the pov bouncing. Or the half filled out side characters or what. But after reading all six books, I think it is safe to say that it didn't live to its full potential. Which sucks because I loved the bones of it.

This book was written very well. The characters, the plot, the magic system. Chef's kiss. I read the whole series probably in less than an week. The style of K. F. Breene's writing is amazing, very witty, and humorous, often making me laugh. The characters are also pretty relatable and I would 100% recommend it.

Do not sleep on this series. The titles and trashy cover art diminish how good these books are. The characters are likeable, the plot well written and the spicy scenes can be mostly skipped without impacting the plot. These were so fun, so good. I'm sad I finished.

Wow the characters in this series are truly amazing. The twist and turns in the plot will hold your attention. As you read each book in the series your emotions will be all over the spectrum.

I did a reread of the whole series as I was on vacation and I needed something that I didn't have to pay to close attention all the time... though I did have to back up occasionally. Still think it is one of the best series though not top 10 in the UF world. Definitely in my top 50. Definitely my favorite of K.F. Breene.

The Demigods of San Francisco series follows Lexi, a 25-year-old magical resident of San Francisco's dual zone, struggling to care for her teenage wards, Mordecai and Daisy, while living in poverty.
During a routine errand, Lexi encounters Kieran, the son of San Francisco's magical ruler, Demigod Valens, in a chance encounter that changed her life. Intrigued by Lexi's magic, Kieran becomes determined to uncover her true nature and win her heart. ❤
The first book has quite a slow start, but I’m so glad I pushed on through the first four chapters! Admittedly, Lexi starts off quite immature, and I wanted to jump through the book and tell her to get a grip, but it gets better, so I have to say there was great character development. 🥰
I quickly became attached to this unconventional family, as well as to Kieran and his Six, to Bria, and to the loyal spirits aligned with Lexi. Certain scenes, like the emotional moment between Kieran and his mother or the untimely passing of a character, evoke strong emotions (I cried my eyes out). 😭
My favourite characters in this series are definitely Daisy, Bria, and Jack - in this order.
I think one of my favourite things within this series is the sense of all the characters becoming a real family under Lexi's guidance, which is really heart warming. The biggest twist comes right at the very end which blew my mind tbh! 🤯
I found out the news that a spin-off series centred around Daisy might be in the works, leaving the door wide open for new adventures and I’m desperate for it to come to fruition as soon as possible with her being my favourite character!
