Lighthouse Lovers #2

Hate to Love You

Rate this book
Two unlikely roommates, hot summer nights & a forbidden sapphic romance.
Ryleigh:
When Alana suggested I move into the second house on the Lovers Estate, I took her up on it. Even though that meant sharing the space with Alana’s little sister, who happened to hate my guts.
Wrenn:
Of course my older sister just had to open her big mouth and invite her friend to stay with me. It was bad enough having to see her in my sister’s wedding, but to see her at my kitchen table? I thought after we hooked up that it might be the start of something, until the next morning when I woke up alone. Now all she wants to do is talk about what happened and I just want to avoid her.
Ryleigh and Wrenn are sure they still hate each other but as the summer nights heat up, so do their feelings.

Ghosted to Roommates to Lovers…

4.5⭐️ Another great read from Lovers ME! Very spicy, nicely done that seemed to flow well with these MCs. Little glimpses into the few future books that I’m excited for! Little bomb drop on what happened that everyone is actually there for so looking forward to see how that plays (played?)out in future books as well!!

Ohlala! This book has some serious spice! A fiery one night stand to forever. Can you fall for the one you ghosted before?

I received an advance copy from Booksirens for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Ryleigh’s best friend Alana is getting married this summer. After traveling the world the past year, Ryleigh returns to her hometown to help Alana with the wedding preparations. Alana offers to let her stay in one of the giant guest houses on her family’s estate. She’ll be sharing said house with Alana’s little sister Wrenn. Wrenn, the gorgeous young woman Ryleigh drunkenly hooked up with last year. The same woman she ghosted after slipping out of her bed after a wild night of sex. And the woman she never spoke to again since. Living together with Wrenn for the summer shouldn’t be a problem after all that, right? The house is big enough for them to avoid each other. Too bad, Wrenn is even more enticing than ever before.

Wrenn can’t believe her sister! Alana actually invited Ryleigh to stay with her for the wedding? Ryleigh! The woman who couldn’t get far enough away from her after the hottest hook up she’s ever had. Ryleigh couldn’t even be bothered to answer her texts. Can things get any worse? Ugh! In order to survive this ridiculous situation Wrenn plans to ignore the woman just like she did to her for a whole year. Ryleigh is still hot though. What if Wrenn seduced her only to get revenge and turn the tables by ghosting Ryleigh this time? Brilliant plan. Fool proof. But maybe not Wrenn proof. Ugh, again!

I have a love/dislike relationship with O’Connor’s stories. While some just don’t click for me, this one definitely falls into the love category. While talking about this book, you can’t escape the heat that burns your fingertips while turning the pages. Ryleigh and Wrenn share a very inflammable connection. At first they only connect between the sheets and with some questionable motives, but when Wrenn finally lowers her grumpy facade, there is nothing to stop them from connecting in all the ways. It’s endearing to watch Wrenn slowly melt. The hilarious bickering and teasing continue though and that’s what makes them a truly believable couple.

Wren’s relationship with her family is cold. Her parents are disappointed she quit college and instead is working as a bartender. Her sister Alena is treated as the golden child and as much is Wrenn tries to not let it bother her, it hurts. Ryleigh is the first one to understand and support her in her dreams for the future when her family continues to let her down. Wrenn does the same for Ryleigh, encouraging her to become a full time artist.

Ryleigh worries a lot about what her best friend and Wrenn’s sister Alena will think of their relationship. I thought it was hilarious to see her not only support them immediately but also admitting to having called their attraction way before they admitted it to themselves.

This is book two in the Lighthouse Lovers series. It was fun checking in with familiar characters and getting a glimpse of the main characters of book 1, Heather and Sage. There are a lot of potential stories for this friend group and I will definitely be wanting to read those!

Hate to Love You is the second book in the Lighthouse Lovers series by Shannon O'Connor. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the entire series in order, as there is significant overlap and the potential for spoilers if read out of order.
This book was a quick read with a lot of well-done spice.
A year earlier, Ryleigh and her best friend’s sister, Wrenn, had a drunken one-night stand, and a panicked Ryleigh subsequently ghosted her. This story reunites Wrenn and Ryleigh for Wrenn's sister's wedding preparations and bachelorette party. It begins with Alana, Wrenn's sister, offering Ryleigh a place to stay with Wrenn in one of the family's homes while she is in town for the wedding. Wrenn is salty over the situation, so she is grumpy and intentionally makes things challenging. Nothing novel here, but it's a fun romp as the two revisit the past and have some big realizations. Lots of chemistry, tension, and steamy times, and then came the big feels. I did not relate to either character, but they were enjoyable, and I found the story highly entertaining. Most of the time the two mains were a bit immature. They do wise up and there is a lovely epilogue. I recommend it for a quick fun read.

Woooo this one is spicy, and it is some good spice, so yes to that. I haven’t read the first book in this particular series, but it’s not necessary for Hate to Love You as it stands just fine on its own. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers theme between Ryleigh and Wrenn, the chemistry between them is top notch. I did find myself wanting more interaction with the friends and the ending was super abrupt, but the heart of the story was fun and engaging.

I read an ARC so I’m not factoring grammatical or editing issues into my review, but I do hope the final release has at least one more pass through a good proofreader.

I received a free ARC from the author, but my review is unbiased and left voluntarily.

There are a LOT of tropes happening in this book: return to hometown, forced proximity, best friend’s sibling, enemies to lovers, one night stand, grumpy/sunshine, second chances, rich/poor. And that’s just the MCs. But it works.

Artist Rayleigh returns home from traveling the world to be a bridesmaid in her best friend Alana’s wedding. Alana offers up a spare room in one of the many guest houses her family owns to Rayleigh while she is in town. There is plenty of space, a pool and even an extra room that Rayleigh can set up as her art studio.

There is just one problem… Alana’s younger sister Wrenn is staying at said guest house. Wrenn is a college dropout, bartender saving her money to eventually find a place of her own. She’s the black sheep of the family with a giant chip on her shoulder.

And Alana may have forgotten to tell her that Rayleigh would be staying at the house for the summer. Just like Wrenn didn’t mention that she and Rayleigh had hooked up at another of Alana’s friend’s wedding prior to Rayleigh traveling the world.

The pros: The story overall is interesting. The MCs and the supporting characters are well defined each with their own uniqueness and quirks. The world they inhabit is vividly detailed. I enjoyed the banter between the various relationships (friends, siblings, lovers, etc.). The issues the characters have to face and work through are pretty realistic. The timeline from enemies to lovers is even reasonable. There are plenty of good reasons to read and enjoy this book - including several extra spicy scenes.

The cons: The main negative and the reason I deducted one star is the super abrupt ending. There is an epilogue that helps clear everything up but I felt some of those things should have been part of the main story and not glossed over in the epilogue.

One other issue I had was the timeline of Wrenn and Rayleigh’s previous hookup. I read an ARC version so this may have been caught/fixed prior to release, but it was wildly disparate in my version. Ultimately the timing wouldn’t/doesn’t really impact the story, but it kind of got stuck in my brain. Unfortunately, it was quite distracting.

Otherwise, the story is really well written and definitely worth a read.

2.5/5

i may not have had my full mental faculties when i read the first 1/3 of this book, but i still feel like it was very thin on the plot… like the juicy part that would’ve added layers is something that happened before the beginning of the book. i feel as if this off-page event is way too much of a crutch for the purpose of the storytelling. as much as i hate a third act breakup, i was disappointed that there wasn’t one because where was any form of real conflict or strife or PLOT? but the smut was good so i would’ve felt bad giving it two stars lmfaoooooo

Wrenn and Ryleigh scorch the pages of this book as Wrenn decides to get even with Ryleigh by flirting with her, as revenge for Ryleigh ghosting her the year before.
Rayleigh gets (a little) wise to her and starts flirting back which moves things in a slightly different direction.
There was a lot of ♨️ and it seemed just a little too much rather than exploring more about the characters.
Enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to reading the exploits of the other 3 friends in the forthcoming books.

I really enjoyed this book, just like the one before it.

Ryleigh and Wrenn was the right chemistry at the wrong time in their life's neither ready for more than just hookups, until it changed, when the chemistry was too explosive to ignore anymore.

In the end they got over their fears of being vulnerable and talked it out. And things worked out for them in the end. I can't wait to read about Norah and Gemma and maybe what happened with Alanah and the wedding.

Hate to Love You by Shannon O'Connor is the 2nd book in the Lighthouse Lovers, a series of small-town sapphic Romances.

The premise is based around Alana, who is getting married and Ryleigh, one of the bridesmaids. Who has been travelling, is offered a place to stay prior to and during the wedding.

The only problem is that Ryleigh is to stay with Wrenn who is Alana’s sister and the to for Some reason Hate each other.

Although at the start of the novel you don’t know why.

Hate to Love You is as the name suggests, mainly a sapphic romance using the hate to love trope.Which in the contemporary romance genre can be difficult to pull off. However Shannon O’Connor makes an enjoyable romance novel.

The first part of the novel introduces Wenn and Ryleigh were we get to know about their personality, With each of them getting a chapter on an alternate basis, this allows for readers to find out what caused the hate between them.

While the getting over the hate does take most of the novel to subside, the novel can be neatly described as split into two.

The first part is the start of the romance between the couple which is done very well as both of them especially Wrenn are almost hate flirting to get back at each other,

However once the novel gets to about the 50% mark the novel goes past the flirting stage and the door to the bedroom is left open.

While at 216 pages Hate to Love You is not a novella but due to Shannon O’connor’s writing it almost feels like it, and could be read in one sitting.

As Hate to Love you is an hate to love romance which could be read by readers by readers who are not major fans of this trope.

*arc review*

I enjoyed this book, it’s pretty lighthearted and a quick read but there was a few bits I wasn’t a fan of…

Wrenn is extremely bitter at the start of the book because Reileigh ghosts her the year before- they barely speak about it and after one two line discussion it is all resolved which considering Wrenns initial bitterness didn’t really make much sense to me, I think there should have either been more grovelling or less bitterness 🤔

The spice is 🔥

The only other thing is the sisters wedding sort of takes up a huge chunk of the book and then it’s just briefly mentioned that she pulled a ‘run away bride’ and that’s that so it fell a bit flat for me. Obviously this is so she gets her own story but I think there should have been a bit more… I also think there should have been a discussion with the main characters and her considering it’s her best friend and sister?

But still a good light hearted quick read!

Book 2 in the series & it didn’t disappoint!!
This journey is about Releigh (Ry) - One of Alana’s bffs & Wrenn - Alana’s younger sister. They hooked up about a year ago after way too many drinks & Ry decided to ghost Wrenn instead. A year later Ry is back in town to stay & ends up living with Wrenn in their parents spare house.

I love an Enemies to lovers - under one roof & their crazy chemistry was off the charts, this didn’t help when Wrenn wanted to take revenge on Ry for ghosting her, so how this back fires and the rest is history. Wellington can’t forget about Cheeto’s either, Wrenn’s ginger cat.

There was a lot of spice, flirting & some kinkiness. Love a HEA. Can’t wait to see what happens of a book 3 with this close group of friends.

I just loved Ryleigh and Wrenn’s story! What was a one night stand could possibly become more later down the road. Ryleigh moves in with her best friend’s sister, Wrenn. Wrenn can’t forget what happened that one night and what happened the next day. Now she has to live with Ryleigh. Wait til you find out what happens. Could these two possibly put the past behind them and move on? Could something else possibly happen between them? It’s obvious the pull is there, but is acting on that pull worth it. On top of that, how would Wrenn’s sister react? You won’t want to miss a moment of this must read story!

I literally could not put this book down, I just kept going back for more. I ate it up, in a matter of hours!
I just loved Ryleigh and Wrenn’s story!
And oh my, this book has some serious spice!
I did find myself wanting more, the ending was super abrupt and left me with many questions in regards to the main side character.
The author did clear it up a little in the epilogue, I would've just preferred it to be within the story.
Even though I saw that one flaw I still couldn't rate this book less than five stars because I really absolutely loved it!
I can't wait to read about Norah and Gemma and maybe what happened with Alanah and the wedding.

Ryleigh and Wren have a night together, then Ryleigh just leaves without so much as a note. Wren would love nothing better than to never see her again.

Wren’s sister is getting married and Ryleigh will be in the wedding, even worse, Wren’s sister offered the spare room in the house that Wren lives in to Ryleigh while she’s in town for the wedding.

It could be a recipe for disaster - and both ladies think that’s what will happen.

Hate to Love You is a spicy quick red novella that checks all the boxes to keep you reading to the end and wanting more.

I read an Advance Copy of this book and am leaving this voluntary review based on my personal reading experience.

Ryleigh and Wrenn are my favorite couple in this series. Their chemistry is unmatched.

Wrenn is the little sister of one of Ryleigh's best friends. These two hooked up after Norah's wedding, but Ryleigh slipped out in the morning and avoided Wrenn's texts. Now, they are roommates for the summer. Wrenn decides to get her revenge, but she can never quiet commit to hurting Ryleigh.

Now, admittedly, I am reading this series out of order, but I feel like the tineline of when Norah's wedding would have taken place was off. Maybe the timeline was adjusted? It doesn't really impact this book, just something I noticed.

This is the second book in the Lighthouse Love series and is now my favorite. I love when a book has a lot of tropes, and this book did not disappoint. Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and secret romance just to name a few and they happen to be my favorites. Ryleigh and Wrenn’s love story is sweet with a lot of spice. I cannot wait for the next one in the series. A must read and while you do not have to read the first book to read this one you will not regret it if you do. It can be hard to get into enemies to lovers but this one worked well because the chemistry with the main characters just works really well. The way they are written and the dialogue between them just works so well.

The only hurdle the book has is I wish there was more conflict throughout the book and at times it all felt too easy.

Still a great follow up to Book 1 in the series.

Another cute, spicy read!

These FF romance reads by Shannon are always enjoyable. This one I liked because it was almost like an enemies to lovers, more like a one sided dislike but it turned to more. They were cute together and they both deserved to be happy instead of hiding their feelings.

Their epilogue was especially cute and I'm glad with how their story went.

While I am excited about Norah's story next, I'm super curious about Alana and I can't wait for her story! 🙂

Great addition to O’Connor’s Lighthouse Livers series. Hate to Love You is the story of Ryleigh and Wrenn, who had a one night stand and are now stuck together as roommates.

I loved the easy flow from character perspectives. You get to understand their personalities and reluctance to start fresh. The scenes are 🔥🔥🔥 and so well written. It really is a treat to read.

You will want to catch up with the others in this series and I’m looking forward to reading more about them. Well done!!

Who would have thought that you would end up sharing a house with the little sister of your best friend, the very same person you ghosted after a one night stand at a wedding a year ago.
Well that's the situation Ryleigh finds herself in with Wrenn, awkward or what.
What follows is a story of attempted revenge....
If your looking for a lighthearted read with a lot of hot scenes then look no further.

Hot and spicy is the best way to describe this book. Shannon O’Connor certainly knows how to steam up the pages and Ryleigh and Wrenn had an explosive relationship going from a one night stand a year earlier to becoming so much more to each other. I was hooked and could not put this book down. When you have great characters and a great story you know you are in for a treat.

"Vivid Descriptions"

Refreshing Storyline. Once night stand left them both mindblown and avoiding each other. Best friends little sister is offlimits... RIGHT? When Rileigh and Wrenn are forced to live together they must also face their deepest desires for each other. Very well written and refreshing story of where love will take you if you let it!

A tale of two different people

Ryleigh & Wrenn are a bit of an odd couple - similar in some respects yet worlds apart in how they see each other.

Both are basically brats at times, both are scared of getting hurt, and Ryleigh is worried about being caught hooking up with her friend's sister.

In the meantime, however, they find real passion between them and wonder how to cope with it (without repeating the mistakes of the past).

This might be my favourite book so far by the author. I really enjoyed it. The main characters are so likeable and the chemistry between them is off the charts! The steamy scenes are scorching hot yet still tasteful, which for me is a determining factor for my enjoyment of the overall story and writing style. As spicy as it is, it is still a sweet romance.

I really enjoyed Wrenn & Ryleigh's love/hate relationship. Wrenn is bitter at being ghosted by Ryleigh a year earlier. Neither one is good at expressing their feelings but the chemistry between them is off the charts. It's a light fun and very steamy read.
