Excerpt:

It was past midnight. I was tense with anticipation. My palms were sweaty and my stomach was in knots. What a mess I was!

I had been hearing sounds all night coming from the darkness beyond the trees, but nothing unusual. Nothing heavy, like before.

Trying to shake it off, and yet hoping to manifest another encounter with the hairy werewolf, I choose to recreate the scenario from last month. I took off my clothes, downed a few shots of liquid courage again and walked out into my yard. The moon was bright and vivid above me.

Dancing and swaying in a circle, my bare feet felt incredible in the grass. I raised my hands up to the sky and began spinning quickly. I loved the feeling of dizziness that the spinning and whiskey produced and before long I once again fell into the grass, exhausted and panting.

Suddenly, I thought I heard a noise from the trees. I waited and watched. Was he coming? Was this it? Darkness enveloped the tree line, and I couldn’t see a thing. I held my breath. My heart pounded in my chest.

My impatient nature won out, and I stood up and slowly started walking over to the spot in the trees he had come out from the last time.

“Hello? Is anyone there?” No reply. Nothing but silence.

I decided to walk a little further and look past the trees a little. Just a little peek. Yes, I was naked and barefoot, but that fact seemed lost on me at the moment.

As I entered under the canopy of the tall trees, the moonlight faded and the darkness seemed to blanket me. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust and I crept silently into the thick dense forest. I put my hands out in front of me to avoid running into a tree and I walked this way for a few feet as my eyes adjusted.

Suddenly, I ran right into him! I felt him before I saw him. I realized I was not touching a moss-covered tree, but a real live tree that wasn’t actually a tree at all. I felt his hot chest heaving and his heartbeat racing under my palms all in the quickest instant. And then he flashed his glowing eyes down on me, and growled at me, his sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight. I was suddenly startled, terrified and shocked!

I screamed.

And then everything went black.
