“I let you go once Paige, I’m not going to let that happen again.”
All my life people assumed I was secretly in love with one of the Bennett boys… but they were always more like my own set of annoying brothers. And what girl doesn’t fall for her brother’s best friend? That was a long time ago though. As far as I’m concerned, that ship has sailed, sunk, and is at the bottom of the ocean, now home to a plethora of marine life. But… just like any good ‘ole ghost story, Maxon Grant is determined to haunt me.When I’m suddenly kicked out of my apartment, the only hope I have of getting my deposit back is with the help of the man I’ve been trying to avoid for the last eight years. Now, I’m not only living with Maxon while we get this whole mess figured out, but the man doesn’t seem to want to leave the past in the past.Where it belongs. And when it’s just me and him, his bad boy, playboy persona starts to fade and I’m left instead with the guy that I fell in love with all those years ago…Now I just have to make sure I don’t fall in love with him again. The Party Planner's Problem is a closed-door, forced proximity, found family, dual POV, second chance romance with swoon worthy moments and sizzling kisses. It is a stand alone novel with references to the previous two books in the Bennett Family series, with a guaranteed HEA.
How to make me melt as a reader: "It's always been you." ***commences falling into an immediate puddle*** I LOVED Maxon and Paige - their upbeat and quirky moments, their realization that they could make and determine their own future instead of those around them, and the deep seated knowledge that they always had been made for each other and always would be. Lots of swoony moments, but with deep heart. Maxon is an excellent character, he sees Paige's needs and aches to provide for her, but also doesn't try to simply take over. simply put, they're worth it — all of the risks, all of the change, everything. LOVED IT.
The Party Planners Problem is the third book in the Bennett Brothers series (they can be read as standalone, but I do recommend reading in order to prevent spoilers!) and follows the story of Paige and Maxon.
Paige is the “third Bennett sibling”—adopted into the family when her mom worked for Hope Bennett. She has served as the Bennetts secretary/assistant for years but has branched out now to start her own party planning business. She gets hit with a foreclosure notice and no where to go when her knight in shining armor shows up…except he’s the one thing she’s trying to stay far away from…
Maxon is the best friend of Aspen (one of the Bennett brothers) and has developed the playboy lawyer reputation in LA. He’s got a strained relationship with his father, but still works tirelessly to live up to his standards. Even though he’s got a playboy relationship, he’s never followed through on the gossip because his heart has been locked down by one person since he was 10 years old…he shows up on the scene just as the one person he wants nothing more than to be with is in dire need of help…
Will their history be their saving grace or the final nail in the proverbial coffin of their relationship??
I thought this was a great addition to the Bennett Brothers series and loved the backstory of Paige and Macon’s relationship. There were soooo many swoony moments in this book—highly recommend adding to your TBR!!

Every time I feel like the last male lead I read from Jaycee can’t be topped, she goes and makes me fall for the next one even harder.
As always, the banter was spot-on, the romance was sweet and heart-pounding, and my boy Maxon made pining look GOOD. Really good. There’s just something about the “it’s always been you” trope that I’ll never tire of, and Jaycee pulled it off exquisitely here.
From the first chapter, I was holding back snorts of laughter, and that didn’t stop as the book progressed. And now, having just finished the epilogue, I am not just excited to read the next book—I’m positively frothing at the mouth. 👀
This book, which I obviously LOVED, is a perfect fit for you too if you love: - Second chance romances - “It’s always been you” - Pining. So much pining (*chef’s kiss*) - Antagonists you love to hate, and main characters you love to watch fall in love - BANTER - A dash of grumpy x sunshine, he takes care of her, and heaps of emotional growth and healing - Sweet, non-explicit romance - Loveable side characters
I will legitimately be counting down the days until the next book (presumably following Aldis and Laney) comes out. And I am not joking about that 👀👀 The Bennett family is my new adopted family and I love them to the ends of the earth.
The Party Planner's Problem is the third book The Bennett Family series. While you might have a bit of a better understanding of family dynamics if you've read the previous books, this could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
I absolutely adore this series and I was very excited to get the honorary third Bennett child- Paige's- story. It absolutely did not disappoint. Paige and Maxon had quite a long and complicated history, which we are given in bits and pieces as the story goes on. I loved all of these little glimpses into their past--- it had me wanting now only to see them get their happily ever after... but also to know where it all went wrong. I just adored both of these characters so much. She is stubborn and independent...sometimes to a fault. His want to take care of her, even when she fights it is just the best... if you love a story where he falls first and hard, this is definitely that! Their meet cute at just 10-years-old was the absolute sweetest and I just adored their chemistry. I've loved the rest of this series so far, so I loved getting to see more of the Bennett family, and we get a bit of an intro to the next book... and I absolutely cannot wait!
The Party Planner's Problem is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
The Party Planner’s Problem is the first book I have read from Jaycee Howard. I have to say this book was fantastic! One of the best second chance romances that I have ever read. Maxon was my favorite character! He is a cinnamon roll for Paige and will not let her slip away again. Paige was fiercely independent. Almost too independent, where she refuses to ask for any help, even if it is family. But Maxon is determined to be the one that she relays on. I loved the build up for their relationship. There were so many hilarious moments and witty banter! As well as many heartwarming moments. I loved the array of many different side characters. Mrs. Bennett and Laney were a hoot! I have to go back and read the other books in the series because of how much I loved the Bennett family. I am eagerly anticipating the next one! The romance was clean with only kissing. This book was wonderful and I highly recommend if you love second chance and found family tropes!
I volunteered to read an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.
Favorite Quote: “The whole ‘date me’ act you had going on in there. That was a little ridiculous don’t you think?” I shrug. “I thought it was believable.” “You were on your knees.” She crosses her arms over her chest as her gaze darkens on me and my own irritation begins to boil. “I have already told you my feelings Paige. Is it really that absurd to think that I would want to date the woman I’m in love with?”
It makes me so stinkin happy to be back with the Bennet family! These Bennet boys hold my heart! 😍
I absolutely love Max and Paige together! The familiarity between them, the banter, the enemy vibes between them to start with! 😆
Jaycee knows how to write a romcom with all the sizzle and none of the spice, and that is why I love her books so much!! 🥰
Thank you to the author for the advance copy, all thoughts are my own.
'His smile doesn't fade in the slightest as he watches me and if I'm not careful I know I could fall into those deep eyes and never come out again. Nor would I want to.'
OOOKay, here is a dreamy second chance/it has always been you, kind of romance.
My favorite kind!!
If you've been following along with this series, then you are already highly anticipating Maxon and Paige's romance...if you haven't been reading this series, please, PLEASE add it to your TBR. It's so much fun!
There is so much to love about this one: found family, boy/girl next door, childhood friends, secret romance, second chance, forced proximity, protective MMC, stubborn FMC, dual points of view and really just straight up awesomeness.
The banter is so fun. The romance is so swoony.
I really can't say enough good things about this one. Adorable to the max and the perfect summer romcom book getaway!
The Part Planner's Problem will be available May 31st!!! (I spy paperbacks already shipping!)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content: found family, social class context, forced proximity, romance-kisses only!
And Jaycee Howard does it again! I just love this series and love the Bennett family. This one had such great depth and healing and I loved seeing it all unfold. I have really enjoyed Howard's writing style and I love how well she creates the depth but also the lighthearted and swoony moments.
The second chance, enemies to more combo was perfection together! Made for some of the best banter between Maxon and Paige. I love them so much! Maxon was such a great MMC, he was protective, flirty, and devoted to Paige. And Paige was wonderful as well. She was strong, dedicated, and caring. And Howard sure does know how to write swoony kisses!
The slow build to their past was done so well. This was such a relatable story of sacrifice, forgiveness, and proving your love. There is so much to love about this book and I can't wait to see where the Bennett family takes us next.
This was a darling second chance love story that had everything and more. It was sweet, funny & clean. I loved the forbidden love trope, flashbacks to their pasts & the loving draw back to each other over & over. The author developed both of the main characters really well & I enjoyed watching them figure everything out! Just a cute, fun, little read. 💛💐
Thank you to the author for a free copy of her book in exchange for my honest review. 💫🫶🏼
I enjoyed every minute reading this book! It was funny with the perfect amount of tension between the two main characters. I love Maxon and Paige’s relationship and watching it blossom.
This is a second chance romance that shows a lot of character development. It goes back and forth between the present and the past in their relationship so you can understand what lead them to where they are currently.
I would definitely read the first two books in the series before this one so you can better understand the other characters in it, but you could read it as a standalone.
I loved this sweet, funny romantic comedy and I’m so happy I got a chance to read it!
Le sigh... my absolute favorite of the series and quite possibly on my top 5 favorite rom-coms list. The romance was clean, I was never bored, and I really loved the flash back scenes in this one.
I enjoyed this "brother's best friend" and "second chance" story. I'm not always the biggest fan of second chance stories, but this one is well written, and it felt believable for me.
Paige is fiercely independent and quite stubborn. But she's also very caring and always looks out for people.
Max is such a cinnamon roll. It was adorable to see Max trying his best to show Paige how good they could be together. I adored how he always tried to take care of her and was patient.
They both struggled with some stuff, and that was written very realistically and relatable. It was beautiful to see that they not only grew closer together, but they also grew individually as a person.
I loved the family bond Paige had with the Bennetts. She truly felt like a sister. It was also fun that the characters from book 1 and 2 made an appearance. You can still read this book as a standalone, but why should you? 😉 Just read the whole series.
The story was so much fun to read. It's filled with humor, sweet family and friends, and romance.
-------------------- I received an e-arc from the author. This hasn't influenced my review, it's based on my personal opinion.
I knew I was going to love Paige and Max's story but still this book blew me out of the water!
Things I loved: - The way the flashbacks were woven in and how each brought depth to the relationship. - The emotional growth both of them went through by the end. -The swoony lines from Max. -Paige's type A personality which was so relatable to me - Mrs. Bennett because when you read that one part you'll know.
Oh man this book was full of all the swoony things. I highlighted soooo many lines that just were so stinken fabulous!
I loved the way Aspen and Theo and their girls were added into the story. It just brought so much fun to the story.
And can we talk about the fact that Max rides a motorcycle 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So in love with this story and I think it's my new favorite out of the series 😍😍
💋Kissing only, focused on emotions ⚠️ Grandparent suffering with Alzheimer's, evil stepmother
Paige is the bonus Bennett sibling, and Maxon is Aspen Bennett’s best friend. They’ve had a connection since they first met as children, but life’s hurts have gotten in the way of their feelings for each other. Now Paige is getting kicked out of her apartment and has no one else to turn to but Maxon. While Paige is determined to keep her feelings at bay, Maxon is determined not to lose this second chance at winning Paige’s heart again. Who will win out in the end?
Ever since that epilogue at the end of The Workplace Rivals, I’ve been so excited for Maxon and Paige’s story, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Paige is determined to be independent and prove she can do things on her own, and Maxon just wants to take care of her. He’s determined not to lose Paige again, and it is the sweetest thing. I LOVED the flashbacks, which gave the reader so much context for Maxon and Paige’s backstory and early years, as well as the baggage they both carry. If you love swoony MMCs, second chances, brother’s best friend romance, make sure to read this one! A new favorite for sure!
Favorite Parts: - Maxon & Paige’s first run-in 😂 - The bar scene 🔥 - Their first date 🫣 - The party photographer scene 😆 - The botanical gardens 🥰
There are just way too many to mention. And as I’m listing these out, I’m realizing you’re just going to have to read the book to find out just why these are my favorite parts! This book is the third in a series (the entire series is wonderful!) but it can be read as a standalone.
I tried, I really did. Reviews hinted that the playboy reputation was a front used for publicity and he was loyal to his first and ONLY love. So maybe he wasn't spreading chlamydia but this was his explanation:
"Decided to make the playboy personality a part of my reputation instead of correcting it. I mean, I dated my fair share of women, don’t get me wrong… but none of it was ever serious or as controversial as they made it out to be.”
That's bullshit. His internal thoughts were about how he ALWAYS loved her since he was 10 years old. The teenage him treated her like garbage. Only hung out with her when his friends were out of town. Kept her a secret. Kept her guessing. Got j/p when she tried to date OM but also wouldn't communicate this passionate "love" to her so HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW??? Truth is, she wasn't. He wanted to keep her on the hook but also not put in effort. And when they had their falling out, rather than put in effort, he just dated many OW and sulked when they weren't her.
I don't want to keep reading POV from this Peter Pan until he explains the true number of notches on his bedpost. He certainly let her believe it was more than it was. That doesn't make him a winner. That makes him trash. And since the number wasn't zero, I don't care what it is. That. Is. Not. Love. Did he care about her the whole time? Sure, I'll buy that even when he didn't put any effort into her that he still wanted her in his life because it boosted his ego. But love? Nothing about the way he treated her then or now is healthy nor romantic.
If you are looking for a fun second chance, brother's best friend romcom, look no further. This story is simply delightful, and Max and Paige are such great characters I couldn't help but root for.
Paige's strong independence is something I really enjoyed because she wasn't a damsel in distress, but she did have to learn to depend on people, which is honestly such a difficult lesson. She also had to work through some personal doubts and insecurities for her relationship with Maxon, her relationship with her family, and for her own self worth, and it was lovely.
Max is her perfect complement, he supports her however he can knowing she doesn't really need his help, but he is constantly pushing her to see that accepting help isn't a sign of weakness or inferiority. As she's learning to value herself for more than what she can offer others and to accept help from people who love her, he's learning to be there for her in ways that she'll accept and be the man she needs him to be.
They are so good for each other. And their chemistry is electric. Plus, both their first meet-cute at 10 and their second meet-cute in the coffee shop were wonderful and adorable.
This is the third in the series, but it's the first I've read. So, now that I've met all the characters from the first two books, I really want to go back and read their stories as well. I just love the Bennetts so I'm excited to read all about her pseudo brothers.
Thank you, Jaycee, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. It was a lovely read that I really enjoyed. All opinions are my own.
This was an adorable book! It was my first from Jaycee Howard, and I absolutely adored it. I think Paige was such a fun main character. I really admired her dedication, and while she had a lot of trust issues to work through, they made a lot of sense with her character. She didn’t feel a part of the Bennet family or like she could be with Max. It was sweet to watch the two of them work through their past. I thought Max was so sweet! He did seem like a bit of a playboy at the beginning, but as the book went on, it became clear that there was a lot more to him. I really liked how growth in learning to stand up for himself. Paige and Max were adorable together! Their banter was excellent, and they complemented each other nicely. They had both been through hardships, so they could understand each other. I really enjoyed the flashbacks too which added a lot of depth to both of the characters. The side characters were a lot of fun! This was my first Bennet family book, but I was able to understand everything. It did make me want to read Aspen and Theo’s story though. This is a closed door romcom that I would totally recommend! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
All I could think about during the first half of this book was how quickly I'd encourage my friend AWAY from Max. Violent outbursts, manipulation, lack of any meaningful relationships (one friendship with Aspen excluded but we don't really even see that either) ARE NOT LOVE. Saying "sweet" things, using money or influence to fix someone's problem, and an attractive body do not make up for a lack of self-control, healthy regulation of emotions and general selflessness. And it hurts my heart to think that as readers we easily root for a "broken" character despite their flaws but in this case the message seemed to imply that you can overlook obvious red flags as long as occasionally there is a big show of affection or sweet words. Is anyone perfect? By all means no, but we should have standards and even hot lawyers who are pining after their lost love should be held to them. I didn't finish this book because I didn't want them to get together. Maybe it got better as the book progresses, but at least in the first half of the book, things like shoving someone against the wall or breaking someones nose or manipulating someone to stay at his house were seen as "loving."
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is a catchy book and difficult to put down. It’s a contemporary, second-chance, brother’s-best-friend romance, with some wealth-disparity and hidden-love aspects thrown in. The MMC is impossibly sweet, and the story surrounds his relentless pursuit of the FMC.
I admit, Paige started to get on my nerves with her treatment of Max. I kept expecting some outrageous and heart-crushing past action of his to be revealed, to explain her harsh treatment of him… but nothing satisfactory ever emerged 🤔. That aside, there’s something about this book that had me completely hooked. The writing style is smooth and gripping, and I’m unable to give it anything less than 5 stars.
Content: There is no foul language or sex. There are a couple punches thrown, but the violence is minimal. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. The FMC temporarily lives with the MMC after she is kicked out of her apartment (she stays in a spare bedroom and nothing sexual happens). There is no mention of faith or God.
This was an amazing Second-Chance romance. Party Planner is a kissing-only, childhood friends, found family, banter-filled, swoony words, motorcycle riding, first-person, dual POV, brother's best friend, with forced proximity. I Love Paige's Dr Pepper obsession; I'm the same way :). I love how Max loves on Paige with all of his acts of service, providing for her without her asking, learning her favorites, and all the other little things she does to prove he's determined and serious. The flashbacks really added a lot to the story; it's always fun to see the characters we come to love during a book when they were their younger selves. I especially love their first kiss. Both Maxon & Paige's personal growth throughout the book shines through in every way. This series is excellent and I can't wait for Aldis & Laney's story.
Jaycee Howard’s "The Party Planner's Problem" is a delightful second-chance romance that captures the complexities of rekindled love. Paige's aversion to falling for Maxon, her brother's best friend, provides a humorous and heartfelt journey. The plot thickens as Paige is forced to live with Maxon, leading to inevitable sparks and rediscovered feelings. Howard expertly balances swoon-worthy moments and sizzling kisses in this closed-door, dual POV narrative. Fans of forced proximity and found family tropes will enjoy this standalone novel with its guaranteed happy ending. A charming addition to the Bennett Family series!
This was my first introduction to Jaycee Howard and I now want to read the rest of this series. The party planners problem can be read as a standalone but I do feel like reading the prior books in the series would help in giving a better feel for the side characters. I absolutely loved the second chance trope of this and loved having the flashbacks from both MCs. Also cannot wait for the next in series! I received an ARC for their book for my honest personal opinion
“She is willing to literally sleep in the storefront window rather than actually asked for someone’s help. Does she even realize how unsafe that is? That any creep could see her from the street sleeping there on the couch? Frustration boils inside of me and I pull away from the window, my fists balling, and before I know it, I find myself throwing punch after punch into the brick wall of her building.”
Yeah, this is unhinged, crazy behavior. Big red flag. No thank you.
So I really love finding out answers to why characters are a certain way and swoon (Paige’s car). I adored Maxon and Paige together. I loved how Maxon was so open with Paige. Their secret relationship was so fun to get a glimpse into!
Favorite quotes: He was handsome, I suppose, but he was standing next to Maxon who happens to be my very own Adonis, so I guess any comparison isn’t really fair.
“I let you go once Paige, I’m not going to let that happen again.”
The Party Planner's Problem is a sweet second-chance romance between Paige, a fiercely independent new business owner who is down on her luck, and Maxon, her pseudo-brother's best friend, who is a successful lawyer and who just wants to help her. They haven't seen each other in years, and while Paige is embarrassed to see Maxon and would rather simply avoid him, he's not letting her push him away this time.
I loved this sweet romance and the complex characters. The flashbacks were great for fleshing out the characters and understanding their relationship and baggage. I also loved that it was dual POV so we got to know and understand both characters and both sides of their relationship.
I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
You'll like this book if you like: *second chance romance *forbidden romance *mutual pinning *he falls first (and harder)
QUOTES "I let you go once Paige, I'm not going to let that happen again."
"Have you ever thought that maybe I don't do it to make you fall in love with me, I do it because I'm in love with you?"
"You know, you make it really hard not to be completely in love with you."
Now that I think about it, Max kind of has a monopoly in the "sweet things done for Paige" category. And I'm not sure how I feel about that.
