KNOX
All he wanted to do was survive the night. Was it his fault she tripped up his way?

Knox Cartier is aware of how the women at church see him — ex-convict, obsessed stalker, dangerous: stay away! When he stumbles upon Hannah while running from people who want to take advantage of him, he has no choice but to protect her by taking her with him. Now, she’s accusing him of kidnapping her.

HANNAH
She asked God for an adventure. She didn’t expect Him to send her a criminal.

All Hannah Grant wants is a break from her routine. On her way to a concert she doesn’t even want to go to, the one man in church she doesn’t trust whisks her away to a world she thought exists only in her imagination.

Will she get over her anxiety and realize God has transformed him? Or will her dramatics cause him to revert to his old ways?

The main characters in this book are ones that we have seen in this author's past books. Parts of this are a beautiful demonstration of the prodigal son and the older brother. I was really glad to see that there was more for Knox than his troubled past actions. Hannah grew and learned a lot as well. Very well done!!!

haha Hannah reminded me of myself (and not just coz of the name lol!) her background and how she grew up, her attitudes to things as well as how Knox thinks of her at first... all very relatable! Loved having both povs as a result!

Favourite bit- probably how he calms her down during her anxiety attack that night. That OR the whole dramatic "kidnapping scene" from Knox's meeting with Six to that sweet hug when Pas Sam and Aida come to get her<33

Btw Knox's smirks are EVERYTHING 😂😂

The ending was so sweettt!! I loved the new version of Knox - him and Max are probs my fav guys in the series. That being said I do wish we got to see more of them hanging out/dating since this focuses a lot on their past - which means we do get a good backstory but do only get a little bit of them interacting as adults...

But as always with Alonzo's books - felt it was just meant for me to read + learnt so much!

Is it just me or am I sniffing out a book on Josh + Vienna as well as one on one of the Price brothers?!?!

I couldn’t put this down!!!

Incredible story of new life and new beginnings with forgiveness and redemption wrapped up with God taking preeminence- Well done!

Much spiritual food for thought as we watch Hannah change on her journey from judgemental views to being the light that God wanted her to be.

And Knox, what a story - God’s salvation makes a life changing difference and we see Knox’s journey as he grows in grace too. At the start, Hannah and Knox appear to be incompatible but God shows that He ‘makes us and fits us’ for the right person and for His glory.

The author shows that no one is perfect this side of heaven and even the conversations about differences between Christian viewpoints made this a very real and totally authentic read…for it’s the same in real life!

I received this as a free gift from the author a while ago and this is my own opinion.

Joanna Alonzo adds a fresh and unique voice to Christian romance. I thoroughly enjoyed reading The One Who Tripped Away. The main characters are far from perfect, but are very believable and likeable. Knox had an extremely hard life growing up, and Hannah had a pretty much perfect one. I love how faith and redemption run through the story. I would recommend this to readers of Christian romance. I'd say it's a "Don't Miss This One" kind of book.
I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this well-written romance.

Enjoyed getting to know more of Knox! Hannah is like most, she couldn't see the new man for knowing his past. I was fussing at her the whole time she was screaming at Knox about being kidnapped. It was a pleasure to witness her discovery of the new man Knox had become. If you like clean inspiring stories, I highly recommend 'The One Who Tripped Away'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

When middle of 6 kids - and middle between 2 sets of twins - Hannah was little, she felt ignored and unseen or taken advantage of by her siblings, and tended as she grew to have panic attacks or get overly dramatic. She also decided to model herself after Miss Rhoda, who seemed to glow when she played piano and sang about Jesus. She decided to make Miss Rhoda her role model and did everything exactly as Miss Rhoda told her to do, including reading her Bible twice a day and taking notes. She couldn't play an instrument and wasn't sure if she could sing, but she figured she could teach, and decided that's what she would be...and she was teaching at the high school when she was there late one night when she had promised to attend one of Nolan's concerts, and was late because of a late parent-teacher conference. When she went to get in her car, it wouldn't start. She got out to find a spot with cell reception and tripped, sending her phone crashing to the ground in pieces. Could anything else go wrong besides the parents parked beside her car?
Knox Cartier was a very new creation in Christ. He had had a rough life. Ripped from his grandfather by his mother when he was 8, to go be with her high school sweetheart and Knox's father, he had several years before his mither's insatiable materialism and a side chick for his father turned into a divorce and a stay over the summer with his stepmother and father. When Eden, his stepmother, got pregnant, he felt like he would no longer fit or even be wanted by his dad and stepmom and so he went back to live with his mother - only to be robbed by the cab driver, then to find no food whatsoever in the house, and her mother with a tough guy who eventually became his stepfather, and his entry into a world of crime. But Eden's talk of a God Who cared had made a dent in his shell, and he wanted out of his stepfather's life of crime. And so he left, went to see his grandfather, asked for a chance on his own, and ended up with a great education and involved in his grandfather's company as he tried to acquire more and more. It was as bad as Six's world, only more legal. He had befriended Nova Stone in high school and gotten physically abusive a couple times, then started stalking her and got abusive once more, but now, Nova was protected by her new boyfriend and she pressed charges and got a restraining order. Pastor Sam had come out to minister to him when he broke down after realizing he was no less abusive than his grandfather or Six, he didn't want to be that way, and Pastor Sam and his wife Mama Aida had visited him in jail every weekend of his 6 month sentence, and he had given his life to Jesus after 4 months. Now he is out, trying to walk with the Lord, a changed man, but of all the people in Connect Church whom he dreads seeing the most, one is Miss Rhoda, now Mrs. Petersen who had a daughter of her own, and Hannah Grant, neither of whom seem willing to forgive him for his past. Once thing Knox has done with his business degree is manage to make enough money to pay Six off to leave his mother Corrinne alone as they're now divorced, repaying the debt Six claims he is owed for her support before the divorce. Then Six gets greedy and wants the same amount twice in payment for Knox's support. The odds are 3 to 1 but Knox believes he can at least make them run before they try to kidnap him and hold him for ransom because they have found out his grandfather is rich. The Holy Spirit speaks to him to let God fight for him, and he gets the chance to run...but Hannah trips and he is too busy picking her up and Six and his goons are now too close for safety for Hannah. Knox forces her onto his motorcycle, straps a helmet on her, and takes her with him at high speed until they outrun Six and his goons. They arrive at a safehouse. Hannah believes she has been kidnapped and not rescued. And a kidnapping charge means a lot more time in jail on a federal felony charge.
Can Knox convince judgmental Hannah - after she gets done with her drama and hysterics - that he means her no harm and that their pastor will come and take her back home if she just uses the burner phone he provides her and calls the pastor? Can he convince her to have a meal with him in the safehouse and perhaps listen to him? Or will she refuse to hear him out, and remain judgmental and unkind, and tell the pastor he shouldn't be allowed in their church?

The One Who Tripped Away was the story (and reminder) I didn't know I needed. Hannah and Knox's story wasn't one I particularly looked forward to after finishing The One Who Wrote Away, and thus, I certainly related to Hannah's character at the beginning of this book. I'm not proud of it, yet it's real and it's the truth (much like this author's writing). That's why this was a reminder of God's grace and power in the lives of the people that choose to follow Him and submit to His will. There are certainly two sides to every story, and Knox's was heartbreaking (just as I imagined it'd be.) It was interesting though, to realize that all along most of his choices had come from his wrestling to come to the Light. Hannah's turnaround/growth arc was just as beautiful as his, and they both showed God's hand at work. Of course, the cherry on top (at least for me) was the development of their feelings for each other, and their sweet romance that always looked to bring all glory to God. I'd recommend this to fans do the author, this series, or people who like Christian Fiction with grit. I can't wait to read the final one in this series. ~ 5 stars :)!

The One Who Tripped Away is the fourth book in the Prodigal Ones series focussing on Knox, the ex-convict who stalked Nova and Hannah, Caleb’s sister. Alonzo has written an enemies to lovers book with prodigals but also with people who are broken and people who break people, particularly those who confess with their mouths to follow Christ but do not have the faith to look for God’s supernatural redemption in people’s lives.

Knox quote: "Tendrils of a malevolent, ancient force brushed against the undying ember of eternal light fighting to keep his conscience intact."

Hannah quote: "Lord, teach me to love like I have been loved by You and the people You have brought into my life. Extravagantly."

This is one of the books I will always remember in my life. It is my favorite one from "The Prodigal Ones" series. I'm currently reading through these books and I feel like every book is catchier than the previous one.
It feels like Joanna is growing as a Christian author as well.
Whether you are a non-Christian person with a haunting past or you are a Christian who is seeking God's Will, this book tells you one thing or two from a Biblical perspective.
I really liked the arc of this story, it's definitely a page-turner.
And of course, if you enjoy motorcycle action scenes as I do, this is the book for you.

To wrap up, God can work in many ways, transforming our thoughts and restoring our lives.

Highly recommend this book, you won't regret it.

This has got be my favorite of the Prodigals Once series for me. I love that the themes happen to revolve around forgiveness, redemption, and reconciliation. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and seeing a different side to Knox Cartier I haven't seen from another book in the same installment but in Nova's POV. From being painted as the villain, we see his character rising from the ashes and into something beautiful that only God could do, which in real life, God can turn our ashes into beauty. I also like how the readers are reminded once again of the Prodigal son and the other brother.

As the author have said, TOWTA is a bonus book for the Prodigal Ones series. I haven’t read everything but if I will compare this to Sacred Scarred and The One Who Wrote Away, The One Who Tripped Away may be the best yet (I am excluding The Warrior Bride since it is a devotional. But even that is so good!). I loved the characters and how their back stories are written. The reconciliations between families and of course, the mercy and grace extended to one another. Isn’t that how a christian community should be?

You make me brave

Hannah was the girl who was holier than thou, always scared to do anything until she met Knox, the man who had gone to jail for stalking her best friend, who was also her sister in law. This book is about believing that God really can transform people and make them into His likeness, whether they are scared of being different or irredeemable.

I cannot say enough about this author. I have read so many books in the Christian fiction section, and often they are nice, but... kind of lame. It's hard to find a gritty, gripping Christian book, at least in my experience! Joanna's stories are different. They're real, current, and littered with messiness, while at the same time painting a beautiful example of what Christianity is supposed to look like. They're exquisite, and this book is no different.
Knox was a character from book one who seemed, for a while, truly unredeemable (leather jacket✅ motorcycle✅ dangerous obsession✅ rough backstory✅). But after the events of book 1, he returns in this book a new man. A changed man.
Hannah is often the perfect picture of judgmental and self-righteous... until God opens her heart to see someone she'd always despised in a new light.
I loved it. I can't wait to read book 3. And everything else Joanna writes for the rest of time!

This is definitely my favorite out of the series! I love how the author kinda related it to the quote "the more you hate, the more you love". And I just simply love Knox and Hannah. Isn't your typical love story so-so, which made it exciting to read.

This book was not what I expected. I really got caught up in the stories of Knox and Hannah. There are several very interesting characters. Ms. Alonzo made me aware of some very judgemental tendencies in my own attitudes. I recommend this book and hope to read others by this author.

I love the truth in a story. Many obstacles, pain, and love. I loved the ending. It showed how a true believer can be affected to change God answers prayers and will be there for anyone who seeks Him

Always great

I loved this story as I have all of this series. God sure works in mysterious ways in bringing these two together. Some great drama and banter. I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed. I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest opinion.
