Since his sister Lettie took over their parents' farm on the beautiful island of Jersey at the start of the year, Zac Torel's life has changed completely. Zac loves Hollyhock Farm, and he's determined to help Lettie succeed, but when their insurance company refuses to pay for the restoration of one of their barns in time for winter, the clock is ticking for the Torels to raise the money themselves.
The siblings decide to host a wellness festival, but with the summer already well underway, they've got their work cut out to get everything ready before the season ends. Lettie recruits the help of Melody, a yoga teacher from Edinburgh. New to the island, Melody is determined to shake things up and make a success of Lettie’s festival.
But Melody has come to Jersey with more baggage than her small backpack implies. And as her friendship with Zac grows, will her past catch up with her?
A lovely addition to the Hollyhock Farm series. This romance is as the name suggests all about second chances. This story can be read as a standalone. However, if you do read the first book, Welcome to Hollyhock Farm, it’s a lovely way to spend even more hours in the beautiful setting of Jersey. There are some new characters in this second book (Patsy was a particular favourite of mine) but also plenty of familiar ones too. It was a real pleasure to return to Hollyhock Farm and reconnect with the Torels and other familiar characters in this Jersey community. The well-being festival was a fun way to bring all the characters together and sounded like something I would attend.
What makes this book standout from other romances is the characters have believable back stories and difficult life events to face. I enjoyed getting to know Zac’s backstory. I loved seeing Melody’s character develop and her self-esteem, strength and resilience grow. The budding romance between Zac and Melody was beautifully written and I was fully invested in their path to becoming a couple, being able to share their secrets, face challenges together and put their past behind them. This story contains emotional and physical abuse, but it is dealt with sensitively and shows the importance of support and friendships when faced with such difficult issues.
This was such an engaging and fun read in the beautiful rural setting of Jersey. A perfect book to curl up with in the cold evenings or a beach read for those warm days of summer. Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm is an uplifting and heartwarming story with strong friendships and a developing relationship at the centre.
Overall a charming second book. I am looking forward to the next instalment at Hollyhock Farm and catching up with island life, the Torels and some new characters.
This is book two in this series. It’s Zac and Melody’s story. This is an easy to read book revolving around Hollyhock farm. It has some light romance and deals with relationship issues.
Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy is a heartwarming read. This story follows believable characters who are healing, growing, and rediscovering joy .
Troy’s writing is so gentle and engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring the farm and its surroundings to life. The characters are wonderfully relatable and easy to root for.
This book is perfect for fans of feel-good fiction. It left me with a sense of warmth and the reminder that it’s never too late to begin again. I haven’t read the first book in the series but didn’t feel like the story was lacking because of that.
Thankyou to Author Georgina Troy, Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this and give an honest review. Charlene @lastnownext
I love that this starts with Zac, Letties sister as the main character.
In the first 6 chapters I think the phrase, 'We're happy to do whatever you need us to', or similar was slightly overused. It didn't detract from the story but it is just something that I picked up along the way.
I absolutely hate Reece and absolutely love Zac, literally like polar opposites.
When I read Welcome to Hollyhock Farm I eagerly awaited the publication of Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm. Though it was worth the wait, I can't say it was easy. I was so eager to start this next book in the series. The book so seamlessly follows the first book with many of the same characters returning but we do get to meet, Patsy who is Melody's grandmother. I'll admit I do enjoy reading about mature women characters. Patsy has a wonderful sense of humor, is pretty hip and a bit quirky. To sum it up, she's an entertaining character and I hope to see her returning in future books. This is Zac and Melody's story, both characters who I loved. Returning character Lettie is in for a surprise when she finds out the insurance, she has for one of the animal barns doesn't fully cover the replacement cost of repairs needed on the building. Winter is almost here, and the animals need the shelter and quickly. When a plan is quickly gotten together to have a fundraiser for the barn repairs it sounds like a delightful plan. The fundraiser is to be a wellness festival revolving around taking care of yourself and healthy eating. This fair sounds like so much fun that I would have loved to attend. Zac is Lettis's brother and will do all he can to help his sister with the planning of the fair. Yoga instructor, Melody wants to put some oomph into the fair and has a plan to do so. I loved seeing Zac and Melody's interactions and how their relationship progresses. Once again Jersey sounds so beautiful, the island a place I want to visit especially with the rescue animals. Zac and Melody are getting along splendidly but each seem to have a little something they're hiding from the other. I sure hope they can bring things out in the open because I want to see this lovely couple stay together. Realistic and heartwarming I'm already looking forward to the next book in this marvelous series!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

My comments:
I loved the second book in this series, I was really excited about Zack's story as I really liked him in book 1 and the way he supported Lettie. It was great to get to know him better in this book and lovely to see how his and Melodies relationship grew. I loved Melody as a character and the way she supported Lettie and the rest of the family and hers and her grandmothers willingness to help with everything on the farm. I loved the way they connected and took time to get to know each other. I've liked Jo in the two books so far and the way he's supported the family and it was nice to meat Calum who will feature in book 4 and I can't wait to read both of their stories.

My Opinion
Welcome back to Hollyhock Farm, it was such a delight to be back. With a lot of returning characters, I would recommend reading these books in order. Lettie and Zac must work together to try and raise money to fix the barn roof – Lettie decides that she can put together a wellness factory. This was such a sweet read and I would love to return to Hollyhock Farm in the future.
Perfect feel-good book to rest the brain and just enjoy! This has all the elements I like in these types of books: - likeable characters that I can't help but to cheer for - small town setting; and in this case, also a farm - individual challenges that are overcome, as well as a common one that the characters work towards together - creativeness and business; creative solutions that are inspiring and also realistic - some funny moments, but not overly so, never "over the top" and not forced humor - fine balance between emotional scenes and lighter ones; topics of domestic abuse and abortion are brought up and handled very well without this taking over the whole story, and also without making the characters seem "pitiful" - some excitement and a build up to a climax towards the end; as opposed to many other "feel good" books that just end in a stickly sweet kiss-fest.
The book is the second one in the series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone as the first book is about Hattie, and this one is more about her brother. Some references are made, but also explained. Having read the first book on an earlier occasion, I did however, find some extra joy in re-connecting with the characters and their story. I liked this one more than the first one, and hope the series continues to expand (as I think it will!)
The writing style, the characters and the story can be compared to that of authors like Jessica Redland and Heidi Swain - just thought I'd mention that in case someone is familiar with their books and crave something similar
I was very much looking forward to reading Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm, I read the first book in the series Welcome to Hollyhock Farm and was excited to dive back into Georgina Troy’s beautifully created world again. Just like the first in the series this is a fantastic book and I was sad for it to come to an end. Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm Can be read as a stand-alone story, although it follows on from the first , everything you need is explained and you wouldn’t be lost at all if you chose to just read this story. (Although I would suggest reading the first just because why would you want to miss out on another great read, trust me if you read this you’ll want to read the first anyway! ) Georgina always writes likeable characters that I end up loving and rooting for, it’s hard not to spur Zack and Lettie on I want the farm to succeed. This is full of humour and some very funny moments, balanced well between very emotional scenes (abortion and domestic abuse) but these are handled expertly and very sensitively. Georgina is a particularly talented author balancing the dark with the light. Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm is a book about community, friendship, working together, well-being and new beginnings. I am definitely hoping for another book in the series I can’t wait to see how the characters lives and relationships have moved forward.

Zac Tovel and his sister, Lettie, took over working their family’s farm after their father became ill. Lettie had been working in London in fashion but she is the one now responsible for the farm. Zac is a successful sound engineer but has taken time from his job to help his sister get things under control. The 80-acre farm grows organic produce. They also have some animals that they have adopted over the years.
Lettie is livid when she learns that the recent storm that destroyed the roof of one of their barns will not be fully covered by their insurance. Thus, they need to make some money quickly before winter sets in. Lettie decides that they can put together a wellness festival for the end of September and hopefully raise the money they need.
Their parents are off on a holiday and her mother has agreed to house acquaintences Patsy and her granddaughter, Melody for some time in return for help on the farm. Since Melody’s job is as a Yoga instructor and has had experience in this area, she jumps in and gets the ball rolling for the festival. Other neighbors step up to help as well.
This is a cute book about friends and people helping one another. Zac’s and Melody’s budding romance was sweet to see. I hope there will be a sequel of this story. Enjoy.

This is the second book in the Hollyhock Farm series, but my first visit. I really loved it! There’s a lovely sense of community, with fabulous characters.
Zac is a wonderful hero. He’s put his job as a sound engineer on hold while he helps his sister with the family farm. Problems arise when their insurance company refuses to pay to repair a barn roof, damaged in a storm. Zac’s sister Lettie decides to host a wellness festival on the farm grounds.
Meanwhile, Melody is on the run from her past and comes to stay at the farm. Her yogi background is perfect for the festival and she joins in with the planning… which means she’s bumping shoulders with Zac often.
Second Chances leans slightly more into women’s lit with a side of romance, but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this story. It’s really well-written and the prose pulls you gently along. The way everyone pitches in to help the festival – and the farm – is very heart-warming.
Of course, both Zac and Melody have their secrets. Pasts that threaten the present. When these comes back to haunt them, they’ve built a relationship with both each other and the community, and again everyone pulls together to overcome the difficulties.
This story is bright and sunny, making it an ideal escapist read in these dark, cold months!
In the latest instalment in the Hollyhock Farm series, readers join Lettie and Zac after Lettie has taken over the farm, and Zac wants to help because the insurance company will not pay for a barn restoration before winter hits. Having to raise the money themselves, Zac and Lettie decide to hold a wellness festival in the short time remaining before the season ends, and new recruit and yoga teacher Melody comes with a drive to succeed, drama, and baggage not made apparent upon her arrival. As her friendship with Zac and involvement with the festival grows, her past might catch up with her and affect the entire village and the festival. With a great cast of characters who continue to grow and develop from book one in the series, the new challenges of the wellness festival and the other personal issues really add to the atmosphere of the Torrels’ farm on Jersey and the stakes in the series. The characters are well-written and are the emotional heart of the novel, and readers will love seeing relationships grow and develop over the course of the book. Enjoyable and well-written with beautiful descriptions and a charming location, fans of cozy modern fiction in the English countryside will love this continuation of the Hollyhock Farm series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advance copy.
Having read the first book in the series, I was looking forward to reading the second one and it was nice to read about Zac's story.
Melody and her grandmother come to Lettie and Zac's farm to lend a hand but Melody is from Edinburgh and there is a particular reason why she is not in a tearing hurry to get back to Scotland. There is a mystery that surrounds her and Zac is determined to get to the bottom of why she quite often appears to be so sad.
When I read Lettie's story in the first book, I wondered if her brother was going to be featured in the future and I am glad that he was. These siblings (and their parents) are just so NICE, that you want nothing but good things to happen to them, always.
Due to the insurance company not covering the repairs to their barn, the siblings decide to hold a Wellness Festival. Between the two of them and the helpers, there are enough skills to make the festival a success, however, Melody's past comes back to haunt her.
I like that this was a lighthearted story, but that it didn't shy away from issues that crop up either.
A cute story of second chances at love for Zac and Melody set in idyllic Jersey at Hollyhock Farm. Georgina Troy beautifully describes the landscape and historical sites of the area, even down to the colorful hollyhocks which lend their name to the farm. At the beginning it was a bit repetitious with Melody and Patsy frequently saying a version of " we are here to help however you need" but got much better as they story evolved.
Both Zac and Melody experienced very different "bad breakups" and neither is looking to date, let alone fall in love. Aside from the story line of their budding relationship, Zac's sister Lettie needs to find additional money to cover repairs to one of their barns that the insurance will not cover. Together, Melody and Lettie plan a holistic "wellness festival" at the farm which I found to be one of the best story lines of the book.
Note: there are several instances of both emotional and physical abuse, but the author deals with both very well.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy in return for my honest review.
Hollyhock Farm is a delightful setting for this story which centres on Zach and visitor to the island, Melody. Melody is hiding the reasons for her travelling from Edinburgh to spend time in Jersey. Her marriage is over but she is reluctant to talk about this. Zach is devoted to his family and determined to help his sister sort out the farm following their father's poor health. It is hard work on the farm, but all the family are united in their efforts. Melody and her grandmother who is travelling with her are soon taken in by the family and they become firm friends. Zach too has something in his past which is still affecting him but which is rarely spoken of within the family. When Melody's past catches up with her, you see how strong the bonds have become between her and her new friends. This feels like a sunny escape in the depths of these winter months. I did feel like the ending came quite suddenly but perhaps that was because I was enjoying the story so much. In short: romance and secrets Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
In this the second book in the series Lettie and her brother Zac are joined at the farm by Melody and her grandmother Patsy, who are holidaying on the island. Lettie is forced to find some money to pay towards repairing a barn roof and decides to hold a wellness festival at the farm, aided by Melody and other friends. This can be read as a standalone book, although you would be missing the enjoyable first one. It returns to Jersey, which does sound like a place I would like to visit, and the farm. Zac is definitely taken by Melody, however she has a burden that she is not happy to share. Be aware that domestic violence is part of the story, but this is counterbalanced by friendship and humour. Again there is that small community feel that I'd love to be part of and it did make me feel that I'd like to attend a wellness festival. Overall an enjoyable book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book didn’t overly wow me or even disappoint me, which perhaps just solidifies my overall feelings of being bored while reading it. The writing at times was repetitive with phrasing (in the very beginning Melody and Patsy probably repeated “we’re here to help you in any way we can”, or something of the sort, at least 6 times) and also the characters felt one dimensional in that neither Zac or Melody had any flaws. Both of them were seemingly pleasing people with little internal conflict or external concerns. All of this to say, I didn’t hate the book. It just felt choppy at times with pacing and I couldn’t connect to the characters until the end when the romance finally kicked off. With some polish, I think this could be a nice book!
This book is just so sweet, and the plot is so sweet. Zac’s family has this amazing farm and they need to raise money to fix a couple of things, so they decide together with his sister Lettie to create a Wellness event. Melody and her Grandma are around to help, and of course Zac and Melody met and the chemistry was felt. I loved them all, aside from their own personal relationship issues, and Melody healing from what she went through in her past, I loved how this author addressed that. This book reminds of summer, the romance was everything I needed, and I know there has to be a book 3!!!!! I need book 3!!! Lol.
Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
This is the second book in the series, and as someone who hasn't read book one I can vouch for being able to jump right in a falling in love with these characters at "Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm." This book is a sweet, clean second-chance romance filled with characters that I want to know in real-life. The plot reflects real world issues that makes these characters so relatable. This book was a solid, clean romance that I would approve for my daughter to read and recommend to a friend; it was not a stand out read but it is definitely a series I will read more of. 4/5 stars. *I received a complimentary ARC from the author/publishing company via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
As Lettie successfully runs the family farm, she receives a setback from the insurance company and needs to raise funds before winter to repair the barn roof. Zac realises he needs to return to his former life as a sound engineer, but he is there when Lettie needs help. Lettie capitalises on the wellness trend and thinks about running a festival. When working guests Melody and Patsy arrive, they help Lettie and Zac with the proposed event as both are skilled in this area. Working together, Zac and Melody form a bond, but they have secrets that need revealing and resolving to move on. The wonderfully evoked rural Jersey setting, the community support, friendship and gentle romance make this engaging. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
It took be a little bit of time to fully submerge myself into this story but once I was in I was fully invested. The characters really grow on you through the book, Zac and Lettie and their parents, Melody and her grandmother, plus other friends along the way. I love the sense of family, which extends out to all their friends, old and new. It’s not your typical romance story, it deals sympathetically with some serious issues, and resolves them in a very real way. Everyone also being very respectful of each others pasts as they move into their new futures. The author describes the island so well, you will see the farm, the coast, the festival set up in the barns. All in all a lovely read which I would recommend.
This story continues with the family at Hollyhock Farm, but now it's Zac's turn to find love! It's a really sweet read. Lettie is still trying to manage the farm but they need to raise funds to repair the barn. So she decides to host a Wellness Festival. With plenty of help from the farm's 2 new residents, Patsy and Melody, they go all out. And Zac falls head over heels for Melody! Unfortunately, and this is a purely personal opinion, the characters again felt a little flat for me. Sweet, light, with a little drama thrown in for good measure, this is still an enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Georgina Troy for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a lovely and sweet romance set in Jersey. Ms.Troy is an excellent job of describing Hollyhock Farm and the scenic isle of Jersey. The characters were well-developed; but the repetitive narrative at the beginning of the book (as other reviewers have also mentioned) was annoying. I really liked all of the characters and watching Melody regain her self-esteem and stand up for herself with her "soon to be" ex-husband was gratifying. A smoothly paced storyline with enjoyable characters made the story an easy afternoon read.
I voluntarily reviewed a digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from Boldwood Books via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.
Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm is a light read centered on the challenges of running a farm, from not having enough money to getting screwed by the insurance company.
The book transported me into the charming town where everyone rallied around to help out Lettie and her brother Zac, including two friends' of their mothers, who help out around the farm with a yoga presentation.
But there are secrets in the shadows that interfere with the growing friendship between Zac and farm guest, Melody.
Great characters, awesome scenery, and lots of fun.
This is the second book in this series, I haven’t read the first one, but got into this cozy romcom very easily. The book is set on Hollyhock Farm, Lottie and Zac have taken over the farm, but need to get extra money to fix the barn roof. Melody has come to help with her grandmother. Will love blossom between Melody and Zac? The book is read in both of the main characters Zac and Melody, both are wonderful people and really make this a feel good read. The farm is a perfect setting for the story too. Easy 5 star read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
I was so ready to pack my bags and return to Hollyhock Farm, I love a good catch up with old faces.
The second chance romance trope is always a win for me, so it had me rooting for Zac and Melody to push their pasts aside and start over again.
Their characters had been through so much, but their personalities still shone through. I hope we get to hear more from them in subsequent visits to the farm.
3.5 stars. Thanks to Boldwood Books for the widget. I read the first one of Hollyhock Farm and couldn't wait to go back to Hollyhock Farm with the story of Zack and Melody. This was such a cute easy read. Zack and Melody are trying to help Lettie but together a wellness festival to raise money for the roof of one of the barns. This is all about insta love but in such a cute and clean way. I cant wait to read more about Hollyhock Farm.
This was the second Hollyhock Farm story and this one focuses on Zac (Letti's brother) and Melody. The characters from book 1 are also in this story, so it is best to read the books in order even if the main focus is now on other characters.
This is an easy to read or listen to story. I love the setting on Hollyhock Farm and the characters are nearly all likeable. Both Zac and Melody have had bad experiences in past relationships, but it is clear to see that they are falling for each other quickly and it is a wonderful journey to go on with them to see if they can make it work together or whether their pasts will always haunt them.
Lovely book, I liked the strong female characters, the friendships, the love and laughter. Jersey sounds gorgeous and a place to visit. I really enjoyed the story and loved watching Melody’s strength return, her grandmothers character was awesome and then of course Zac too. I would like to read another about Lettie and some of her stories would be good too. I think this could be a good series. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for and honest review.
This is my first Georgina Troy book, so I didn't know what to expect, but I finished the book (finally) in one morning, just because I was eager to continue and find out the ending!
The book was just the right length for a light read, and I immediately went to Amazon to buy the first book of the Hollyhock farm series after I finished this book. I am all for happy endings so the story went well for me.
