Deadmen's Captive

Rate this book
I never asked for this, whatever they might say.

One moment, I was just another art student and the next, I was plunged into the heart of a secret society at my university, a world cloaked in shadows and whispers. It's supposed to be a myth, but at the elite Blackvellyn University, it is more than a myth, it's tradition. The ancient Greeks told the tale of how Persephone was claimed by Hades, the Lord of the Dead, and became Queen of the Underworld.

Kidnapped from the Reaper Ball, by men in skull masks, I was to be their Persephone for the year. They called it an honor, a privilege. I called it a nightmare. Hades and his two DeathKnights have claimed me for their own, and there is no escaping their world. As the year goes on, the rituals I have to participate in become darker, deadlier and sparking a passion and a darkness I never knew hid within my own soul.

As I begin to embrace my own dark desires, shadows arise out of my past to torment me further. The Deadmen's Clubs might have its secrets, but so do I, and they are about to find out that there is an even deadlier danger lurking in the shadows at Blackvellyn - and he doesn't like sharing...

The Deadmen's Duet is a dark academia reverse harem which explores themes that could be tr*ggering for some and the first book, Deadmen's Captive, concludes with a cliffhanger. If you like your alpha males possessive, obsessive and damaged, and your FMC's with her own darkness inside, then this series is for you. This takes place in an entirely fictional world set in the UK.

Whoa that was a twist! So a dark society that uses sex as power…. but main character had no clue was signed up. So low key rape vibes so check triggers- but not really rape (dub con). It was still good, spent most of the book going but who is it, is it the same person, holy crap what’s going to happen?

It’s a dark world, and yes my fellow smut bunnies there is smut- but mainly first level, and yes my @ss is dark because I consider getting oral in in front of an entire room of on lookers 1st level. There is a cliff hanger- BUT author already has the new book coming out so the author just edged you- kisses you’re welcome!

This is the first book in the “Deadmen's Club” and I could not put it down! This book will capture you from start to finish and everything in between!

WOW, what a read - hot, hot, hot 🥵🥵🥵 Could not put this book down - read in less than twenty four hours! Nearly every page sizzles with hot wanton sex or the thoughts or possibilities that could happen! The book is addictive - I did not want it to end! This book will capture you from start to finish and everything in between - cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Paige is a sweet innocent virgin and very naive when she enrols in Blackvellyn University to study art - her passion! She is “kidnapped” by The Reapers (Bast, Nathan and Tristan) to be their “Persephone” for the year in the secret Deadman’s Society - a group of the elites going back generations. Each of the Reaper’s, as the book continues, begin to show the reasons for their own depravities and why they are the way they are - and you will love it! I know I did 😉😉 Each of the boys develop their own unique relationship, qualities and traits with Paige, and her with them, with Bart being the dominant.

A thoroughly enjoyable read from page to page, one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊

Deadmen’s Captive is book 1 in the Deadmen’s Club Duet, it is a college, secret society, why-choose dark romance.

So I’m going to kick this off by saying make sure you check the TW/CW before diving in some scenes/topics may be sensitive to some.

Wow, what a ride Elizabeth just took me on. Deadmen’s Captive follows the story of Paige finally escaping her mothers abuse and controlling behaviour by enrolling at Blackvellyn University to follow her dream of becoming a full time artist, she has no idea the world she is about to step into. Catching the eye of the Deadmen’s Club, Tristan, Bast and Nate’s search for their Persephone is over with Paige being their new obsession.

What a fantastic start to the duet, this book has you hooked from the start, I was glued to pages having to know what happens next and that cliffhanger! But lucky for us Elizabeth did a dual release day so running to Deadmen’s Queen!
Definitely recommend for all the lovers of why-choose, college, secret society dark romance readers.

With those trigger warnings I expected it to be a lot more intense even though there was lots going on! Firstly, her mum actually makes my skin crawl!

Now that’s out of the way, I’m desperate for more with the four of them, I’ve seen the next book is more crazy. I hope it’s a happy ending! Have a feeling Nate’s going to be my fav!

Please read the trigger warnings before reading. This book 1 of a duet.

Paige has always been controlled by her mother telling her what to wear and do etc.
Paige’s dream is become a full time artist so enrolls in Blackvellyn University to study art.
Paige is an awesome FMC. Sweet, innocent, virgin.
She gets kidnapped by the Reapers (Tristan, Nate & Bast) into a secret society called the DeadMen’s club and becomes their Persephone for the year. Hades and his DeathKnights have claimed her into their Underworld with no escape. That twist at the end … I didn’t see coming and I can’t wait to dive into book 2.

Secrets around every corner. Fast paced, college why choose, stalker vibes.

Elizabeth is such a great author.
If you enjoy reverse harems on a dark level this book will be for you.

Paige is a shy quiet character who really finds her sexual self in a non-consent / given consent situation after falling for a boy.

Love that the book is written to make you feel like you could be a part of the situation and just leaves you with a huge teaser at the end. Can’t wait to read the next book!.

This book is a fast-paced, why choose, and i loved every moment of it. Paige has had a hard life before she arrives at blackvellyn University. She ends up getting kidnapped by the Reapers, and they make her their persephone for the year. This book is a 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all day long. I can't wait for book 2.

Hades and Persephone Retelling but a whole lot sexier !

Paige has been brought up in a household with an evil mother and a drunk for a father. Her mother controls what she eats, wears and basically her whole life. Growing up she was not allowed to date her mum was setting her up for a perfect plan of revenge unbeknownst to Paige. But Paige does not realise who her mother actually is and what levels she will go to, to have her own way and to bring the families name back into society when her and Paige’s father cause a huge scandal when they was students at the same university.

Fast forward few years and Paige has been accepted after some fighting with her mother on an art degree course at the prestigious Blackvellyn University. She settles in and loves the freedom that her painting gives her until one walk home from class to form and she encounters one of the Deadmen. Lurking in the shadows with a mask on following her Paige’s fear takes over but no one listens to her and brushes it off as a yearly tradition of the Deadman’s club.

Que Tristan , Bast & Nate 3 billionaires who are the leaders of of the Deadman’s club, Hades and his Dark Knights.

Tradition of the club is that eligible ladies apply to be the clubs Persephone for the year and go through a lot of hoops and checks to be considered. Paige living the sheltered life does not know anything about the Deadman’s club or the traditions so when she hears of them she laughs it off because she knows she won’t be apart of that.

Paige first night out with her dorm mate Kate ends up with a brooding tall dark mysterious tatted man saving her from some creep in the club and he plays on her mind for a while.

She meets Tristan when she walks her back to her dorm one night after dropping her pass but starts to really like this tall handsome lad and they go on dates and just talk about everything and she starts to feel happy and settled but that masked figure is still lurking in the shadows at night making her feel uneasy. Nate catches her eye in the gym when she sees something she recognises and Bastian when things get HOT ! These boys come from powerful families who run not only the underworld but are in politics, high courts & military but the boys will stop at nothing to uphold the families legacy and reputations.

Halloween ball is where the Deadman’s club comes alive and you will learn that they will stop at nothing to have their Persephone. What Paige forgets to tell anyone is that a stalker is following her, leaving her creepy notes under her door making sure she knows he is watching her and decides to keep it to herself. Follow along and get lost in lust, battling feelings, hidden parental abuse, coming of age and a story line that will have you hooked from the beginning.

The boys start to see Paige for who she actually is, a beautiful innocent young woman who will light up their darkness.

The spice in this book will have you hot under the collar, swooning over 3 big billionaires and questioning weather you actually want to be the clubs Persephone !

Book 1/2
A very well written dark contemporary romance book with suspense.
I got sucked into the story from the start and I can't wait for the next book to know what will happen.
If you do like smut you will be served!! And I know book 2 will be even better but I can't say more without spoiling this one. I can say that there is praise and dirty talk though 😏.

If you like dark romance with mystery (think secret society) you will like this book. I don't have any trigger but they were well explain in the beginning of the book for anyone who might have. I especially appreciate how the author phrases them and seems very considerate about it.

It doesn't really end on a cliffhanger but I reeeeaally want to know who the bad guy is....and I don't mean the bad guy as in the very sexy big bad gorgeous tattoo broody guy....but the creepy one who wants to cut you into pieces.
Luckily for me I don't have to wait since I got an ARC for it too 😛!
But don't worry, it will be out as the same time a book 1.
It was my first book by this author and definitely won't be my last. Can't wait to start on her PNR RH since it is my favorite genre.

Paige Paige Paige. I hang my head because I want to scream at this character. I want to personally destroy the mother in this story. I need the second book like now! I love a good secret society dark romance story and this does not disappoint. I just want Paige to be stronger in this next book. I’m not a fan of a damsel in distress but I will give her a chance to redeem herself. I am rooting for her.

Small spoilers.

I really love the twisted college campus design in this book. Right off the bat, we meet Paige, her stalker, and the Reapers. First thoughts, that night guard? What a POS. Any girl comes running into a building, scared out of her wits, skull mask or no you don't just leave her alone afterwards. Walk her to her damn dorm!

The idea of these different secret societies is intriguing. I'd love to see some more stories or books maybe on the Poseidons? Especially after the sister of one of them applied to be Persophone! It hints to a whole new underground world of depravity.

The guys are such an intriguing bunch. Tristan seems like the soft heart of the group, caring in a weird teddy bear kind of way, compared to the others. I really want more of Nate's backstory, so I hope that's in book 2. Bast is less of an asshole than I thought. Despite his moments of bloodthirst, he seems to be really cunning and clever rather than just a ball of rage, which is sort of how Nate and Tristan described him. Best part of these boys? They're obsessed with Paige.

Paige is our abused and traumatized FMC, bullied by her mother (and I really hope Neil isn't her father). She manages to convince her mom to send her to Grad school for an art masters and there is trying to gain her freedom. Unbeknownst to her, her mother also signed her up to be Persephone. The dark and twisted Queen of the Deadmen. This leads to a bit of drama for just a few chapters, which I felt was a not enough grovelling by the boys, really. Paige seemed to get over it very quickly.

We're dragged into her Persephone inductions, her stalker's twisted ramblings, and the guys slowly trying and failing not to fall for her. Overall, dark and spicy with some thrilling twists mixed in.

Only reason 4/5 is because while Paige's life is super intriguing, I feel like she keeps making decisions to protect herself and then doesn't follow through and it's a bit repetitive. She tells Kate she's going to confront the guys about the letters, then doesn't. Says she's going to walk away from the ball, then doesn't...Also, doesn't her roommate Kate know about all of the abuse from her mom? Surely the food restricting and calls and all that are easy to spot and say something about?

Dive Into The Dark

Do you love whychoose secret society stories? What if they’re dark? What if you found one that had a bit of a twist from the usual secret society storylines? What about a bit of the Hades/Persephone mythology thrown in to spice things up? If you’re thinking “gimme PLEASE”, then you’re in the right place 😉 First…check your TW…believe me, if there’s a chance you have some, do not dive right in without making sure you’re good with all the darkness this book is gonna give you. Now…the book. On the surface, Paige is what you expect when you think of a sweet, shy virginal FMC, but deep down she has a darkness that’s waiting for the right people to find it, tap into it & have fun exploring it. That’s where Bast, Tristan & Nate come in (all of them a part of the secret society at the university they all attend) when they kidnap Paige as their Persephone for the year. What follows is a deliciously dark journey that delves deep into all of their souls, yet it’s obvious that there is so much more to learn. If you enjoy immersing yourself in the darkness, then you’ll LOVE this story. It was hard to put this down once I started…so I didn’t try 😉😝 Be prepared for plenty of twists & turns, lots of deviousness, smut levels that will melt your Kindle, a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat (for so many reasons lol), and a cliffhanger that will make you so thankful that the 2nd book is already out 🤯😭🙌🏻

This is Book 1 in the Deadmen’s Club and is the story of Paige, Sebastian, Tristian and Nate. This secret society dark romance has so many twists and turns and will hook you from the first page.

Page is a fantastic FMC. She has survived childhood @bus3 and only wants to be free from her mother. Going to this university is her way to pursue her dreams and make a plan to finally escape. However, fate has a different path for Paige.

She finds herself being stalked by masked men and is told they belong to a group known as The Reapers. Everyone tells her to ignore them that is until they kidnap her from a Halloween ball. What do they want? They want her as their Persephone. But in order to be their queen, she must complete several s3x^al trials.

Sebastian, Tristian and Nate are sons of powerful men in organized crime. Their job is to find a Persephone for their Deadmen’s Club. Persephone will serve Hades (Sebastian) and his dead knights (Tristian and Nate) for a year.

This was an amazing read. The guys are walking red flags. But man, oh man, they are something else.
I loved the twists and turns in this story. The trials, the one-on-one smexy times, and the added mystery of an additional stalker makes this an entertaining read that will keep you hooked. This is Book 1 and will end on a cliffhanger.

This book is well worth your time. I highly encourage you to check it out.

Elizabeth’s new story-Deadmen’s Captive is book 1 that is a why choose dark contemporary college romance with a secret society that uses sex as their form of power and control.

This is a DARK romance so please take your of yourself and check all the trigger warnings as this book checks most of them.

This is a story about Paige who has always been controlled and abused by her mother. Paige enrolls and starts her major as a artist at Blackvellyn University. Paige is very sheltered, naive and is of course a virgin. She catches the attention of the Reapers. She is “kidnapped” by said Reapers (Bast, Nathan and Tristan) to be their “Persephone” for the year in this secret society called the Deadman’s Society. This society has been around for generation and has lots of secrets. As the story progress we get to know the Reapers and their reasons for the ummmmm “stuff” that they do. Naturally the relationships between the reapers and Paige grow and mature.

This one story you don’t want to miss.

When the spice hits it hits

Okay so the spice was good.
Fairly new to bad romance I was thrown into the dead end with previous reads.
This was milder.
It did have a few errors and I felt like how the female character was wrote a bit all over the place.
She's timid amendment stand up for herself(at bar)then she did(at gym), then she does(with teachers aid).
I also felt the same with the 3 male characters.
It was very predictable in regards to Unknown and who did her application.

I will probably read the second one as it did end on a cliff hanger and did leave hints that there was a lot more to know but I probably wouldn't read again I'd recommend if you are there for smut and can give or take a messy predictable plot and characters that aren't fully developed or structured

What can I say about Deadmen's Captive, one word, "Addicting!" I devoured this book in two days. The best way for me to describe this book, think of Royals of Forsyth University meets The Lords for The Rituals.

I love the whole storyline of secret fraternities that represent the Greek Gods. This is Hades, Bast, and his DeathKnights, Tristan and Nate, finding their Persephone, Paige, and putting her therw trials to make her theirs.

The spicy level in this book is on fire. I mean what woman wouldn't love to have 3 men on their knees at her feet. Each men brings out something in her.

Oh and let's also throw in an unknow stalker who doesn't like to share. Who is this person? I cannot not wait to read the next book, Deadmen's Queen. This is one of my favorite series for this new year.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars

dark academia, skull masks, and “Persephone for a year” energy

Deadmen’s Captive is the kind of book that opens the door, smiles politely, and then immediately throws you into a secret society kidnapping ritual like: Welcome to Blackvellyn. Hope you brought emotional support and a helmet.

The premise is deliciously unhinged: the heroine is taken from the Reaper Ball by men in skull masks and told she’ll be their “Persephone for the year.” They call it an honor. She calls it a nightmare. Same, girl.

And yes this is Why Choose / reverse harem, with that dark-academia, “everyone has power and money and secrets” vibe, plus a ritualistic club dynamic that keeps tightening like a trap.

It’s not a 5 star read BECAUSE and I can’t believe I am gonna say it
Too much of smut. But not quality smut if you know what I mean.

Why choose, secret society, dark romance...yes please!
Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop reading!
Filled with twists and turns, secrets and more!
We also got suspense, mystery, tension and spice. This book also brought some emotions too.
Paige is a ray of sunshine, but has a bit of a dark side. While she is inexperienced and a little naive, she is still smart.
Tristan, Bastian, Nate, I'm loving them so far. I have a feeling there is a lot more to learn about them.
Each of the main characters have secrets and dark pasts. I look forward to finding them out.

I think this was a fantastic book and great start to the duet!!

That ending!!! It had me screaming!!!
I need book 2 now!!!

Dark romance meets secret society and a touch of Greek mythology

I devoured this book from start to finish. The writer has such a way with words that I felt like I knew Paige, the female main character.
The 3 main men who are in the secret society and her college are morally gray, and obsessed with her. She also has a stalker who is leaving her creepy notes and packages.
This book didn’t wrap up some of the main plot and I’m so excited for the next book. Definitely check the trigger warnings, but if you’re a dark romance lover do not sleep on this one! It was a must read for sure.

I enjoyed this book!! I think it could’ve used one more edit/another pair of eyes as there are some plot holes and conflicting information. Just minor things, but definitely took me out of the reading headspace because I would go back to double check things.

BUUUUT, this was a good book and I enjoy the concept of it! Secret society, the Underworld, Paige having a stalker, etc… it definitely kept me hooked and I didn’t want to put the book down! Off to read the second book 🔥

ALSO, read content/trigger warnings. Don’t be an asshole and rate the book low because you decided to not read trigger warnings. That’s on you, not the author.

I have to lead with readers checking their triggers before jumping in.
Elizabeth has jumped into this duet like this sort of writing was meant for her and her only.
She has a perfect mix of the men, including our very own himbo (sweetie pie) Tristan, our protector in Nate and the boss of them with Sebastian.
Our female is sweet, naive and unaware of the world. She has been sheltered but is slowly learning to stand on her own two feet until crushing news leading to our cliffhanger.
Never fear, both books are due out on the same day.

I grabbed this on a whim … and don’t regret it at all.

Paige is a pawn … and it seems in more than one persons game.

She is rising to the challenges and exploring who she is … but still a pawn.

Three men … they have their own game to play … and play they do.

From the very beginning I was drawn in and had trouble stepping away. There are twists and turns and I can’t wait to see how this all ends….

I honestly wish I could rate this one more than 5 stars.. I was so hooked and hated finishing this one because now I'm in A terrible book slump.

The MFC has had it rough and I honestly felt for her while reading.. She deserves better and I hope by the end of the series she has the best life because she deserves it.

THE SPICE , was spicing and I loved it.

The male.characters were something else and had their quirks but I couldn't help but love them.too..

Definitely check the triggers

I love a good secret society story. This one was on the darker side, but definitely not the darkest I've read, and I flew through it. Couldn't get enough!

Paige was raised to be this perfect woman, and treated like utter dirt from her family. She finally felt somewhat free and safe being away at college, until she became the focus of a stalker, as well as the Deadmen.

Despite their reputation, I actually really liked the guys! They're nowhere near as terrible to Paige as people would expect. They're actually quite caring.

Secret society, manipulation and schemes, spice and a stalker? An amazing read!

This dark college romance does not disappoint. It has the basic elements needed to create an engaging well rounded story without the guesswork. A welcome relief between fantasy reads 😵‍💫

The shy virgin wrapped in cotton wool meets three elusive men of high calibre in sexy masks. Ok the whole masked stalker is way over done with this genre however the plot is seasoned with other spices to add variety.

A 4th player adds some mystery and unease as the story develops. We are left wanting answers after Book 1 however it's pretty easy to guess who this person is. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Life shouldn't be too hard right?

Ahhhh!!! I loved this book! Paiges life living at home was severely traumatic. Her parents are horrible, mostly her mother. When she finally gets away, she can finally breathe. She finds herself the object of Hades and the Death Knights. She has been chosen. This book ends on a cliffhanger, but book two will be out at the same time! I definitely recommend this book, but there are many triggers, so be sure to check the warnings before diving in!

This was a captivating start to a series, Paige has been treated cruelly by her parents all her life so when she gets away to University she take the chance to enjoy a little freedom.
I loved seeing her grow out of her shell, only a little in the beginning, but more and more as she go to know Tristian, Bast and Nate and she learned what she liked!
The ending was devastating for her as the depth of betrayal was revealed but I had had a feeling that something like that was coming!

Not as dark as I expected with the author warning.
But then again, maybe I read too much dark romance to begin with 😂 so let's just beware if dark is not your usual.
Still delicious though💃 🔥
But, need to dig deeper in the character. Specially Persephone, I want to see her character grow cause in this first book, she feels too much like a little girl in candy shop with the boys.

This book was dark, however, it was not as dark as I thought it would be, plus the boys treat Paige like their queen. It will not be for everyone, so please check content warnings, but I really enjoyed this. Some of the parts were hard to read, especially with how Paige has been treated growing up and once she attends university. The plot was great and developed nicely throughout the entire book.
