Fractured Reality
Book two in the twisted Grimmville Novella series, a collection of steamy short reads, each standalone loosely inspired by characters from Tim Burton movies. FRACTURED REALITY follows Cara Morgrieves (Suzy’s ride or die from book one DEADLY NIGHTSHADE) This is NOT a retelling and other than the character inspiration stated it has no affiliation with the original work/story.
Moving a town over from Hollow Hills into Falcon Falls was a necessary change in scenery for Cara, she was desperate to make it on her own after the death of her captor. Working at the local asylum for the criminally insane was set to be a cake walk in comparisons to what she had been forced to endure under Doc’s tyranny, or at least that’s what she assumes at first glance.
There are secrets hidden in the crumbling walls of the victorian estate, its maze of underground tunnels and derelict rooms a perfect spot to hide from the monsters that reside within. But hiding from your demons only prolongs the torture.
Finding love in a place as hellish as this proves to teach Cara things she never thought possible. Ezra Wolfe had a promising start in life, surrounded by wealth and opportunity lead everyone to question his motives after the brutal murder of his tycoon father who was found butchered in his home, the only suspect, Ezra, by his own admission. Branded a psycho, a beast, deplorable, he’s forced to live out his days in the asylum he calls home. Accepting the monotony of everyday life trapped between these four walls, he can't deny the jolt of interest that hits him when a woman filled with joy and promise arrives to town. Ezra & Cara are balls to the wall from the second they appear on the page!
Although I didn’t read Deadly Nightshade, Billie paints a great picture of Cara’s past & I was able to understand her tortured soul pretty well.. and thankfully, so did a certain 6’3 psychotic patient at Blackwood Asylum 🥵
The spoon incident.. 😈 guys.
Takes “touch her and die” to the best level lmao.
Nothing will prepare you for the final chapters, Billie wrapped it up so nicely, right after she mind fucked me 😂

I so want to give this more than 5 stars. This should be like 8 stars. Cara and Ezra, ah, I don't have words for these two but d×*&. Ezra, the bad boy, will set the world on fire and bring the ashes to Cara feet just for her heart to beat. Cara, being the woman to hand Erza the matches and say, "Go ahead, baby, I'll be here when you're done." The two together are psychotic bundle of crazy ready to take on what's handed to them, and past trauma given to them. It's a must-read for us dark down the wrong rabbit hole readers.

This book is absolutely amazing. It is probably my favorite book out of the ones I have read by Billie Jade Kermack so far. I planned to pace myself and make the story last and the next thing I know I'm reading it all in one setting.
I love Ezra and Cara together. I thought the story was entertaining and it kept me interested. I loved it kept me wanting to know what happens next. I love that I couldn't put it down.
I liked that it had some of the characters from the first book. Even though the books can be read as standalone, I like how it's becoming a continuation of the first book almost.
I can't wait to see what happens next.
I highly recommend this series, it's so good.
This book is more for 18+ readers as there may be some content that may not be suitable for some readers.

I absolutely loved this. It gripped me me from the start. I wanted to know everything about the fmc Cara, and when we met the mmc Ezra, it was all over. I couldn't put the book down,
The storyline is so good and unhinged, which is what I love. Plus, who says the villain doesn't deserve love too,
There's a plot there's spice, and when the plot twist happens, you won't see it coming. You need to check the trigger warnings, this is a dark romance book

I was really excited to read another of Kermack's books. The spiciness and versatility of the books I've read so far has been terrific.
The start of this one was very intriguing. There was an interesting chemistry brewing that I couldn't wait to further explore. The descriptions of the asylum were incredibly creepy, and yet the underlying spark between Cara and Ezra had me eager to get deeper into their story.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the mental twists and turns through Cara and Ezra's story. The way Chapter 26 ended had me on the edge of my seat. Everything had been going so well, so of course reality was going to come barreling back in! Things got really twisted from that point on, and I was so rooting for Cara and Ezra. The first epilogue was absolutely terrific! I loved how their story came to a happy close. And the second epilogue had me laughing out loud. What a fantastic cast of characters!

F—k me sideways did I love this book. Billie’s writing is poetic and melodic, creating atmospheres that you can live and breathe in.
Ezra Wolfe and Jax Carter are two men that will live forever rent free in my head, but I dare say Ezra is my favourite.
I wanted Cara’s story so bad, and Billie did NOT disappoint.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves asylum settings, dark romance, stabby characters and broken characters that ALWAYS get their happy ending.

this book is one of those rare gems that completely immerses you from the first page and never lets go. The author masterfully crafts a world that pulls you in with such intensity that you lose track of time. I devoured this in one sitting! you are definitely kept on the edge of your seat as you journey through unexpected twists and turns. Ezra has my heart forever and ever and ever! 🖤

Wow, this book took a turn I was not expecting! The story takes its time to set the scene, but once it gets going it goes with a bang. I haven’t read the first book (which I will now be doing), but it’s not necessary and the story is easy to follow without having done so. I love the main characters’ chemistry, they compliment each other so much and their story is written so well. It was entertaining, had laugh out loud moments, intrigue and loads of suspense, and then that twist(!), with a HEA where the villain gets the girl. I highly recommend if this is your sort of book.

As part of her newfound freedom, Cara takes a job offer at Blackwood Asylum. Meeting Ezra, a patient, throws her for a loop. He's the Beast of Blackwood, and gives her a feeling she hasn't felt in a long time. Ezra decides Cara is all his, even from the moment he first saw her. Toying with her is just as delectable as his daily view through her bedroom's two-way mirror. Cara, suspecting Ezra's dedication to her safety at Blackwood, has her suspicions confirmed when he protects her time and time again. Little does she realize, she's gently breaking down his walls and exposing his heart. Ezra realizes Cara means more to him than anything, but what does he have to offer besides madness and pain? It will take more than their growing love to free them from the chains of the asylum.
Loosely based on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Cara and Ezra's story is told through their back and forth perspectives. Cara and Ezra are the perfect book characters. I cannot stress this enough. This was one of those books that was over way too soon and put me in a reading hangover for the next couple of hours. I couldn’t decide where I wanted to go because I immediately wanted a part 2. This is a dark romance so please check the trigger warnings but for someone who doesn’t have any triggers please proceed without any caution. This isn’t one of those sappy love stories where the good guy gets the girl, oh no, this is one where you are rooting for the bad guy. I truly enjoyed every bit of this.

This is the first Billie Jade Kermack book that I've read, and I wish I had read one of her books soon. From now on, I will be grabbing her books as soon as I have the chance. She is just such a phenomenal writer. Her writing style makes you just want to absorb her words and jump into her world. Her character development and her characters, when complete, make you feel like you know them and make you feel like you have a soul connection with them. She is just amazing. I now know that when I pick up one of her books, I better get ready for a beautiful roller-coaster ride.
That's this book to a tee. A beautiful roller-coaster of a beautiful crazy emotion with all the twists and turns that you could never see coming. I found myself on the edge of my seat at times and holding my breath at others. I just gobbled this book up until I read the last word, and I knew how it ended.
This is a twisted, intriguing, dark, erotic, and yes, a very delicious book. Cara and Ezra are so perfect for each other. Two broken souls who come together to help heal each other. It's just so good, I can't say that enough. I need more, I can't recommend this book enough.

i always love me some Billie jade kermack reads, she's one author that I will always grab her books. I love her writing style and the way she makes you absorb her worlds. The way she creates characters that you truly feel a connection with deep in your soul is just truly amazing. I don't know how she does it but she does. Anytime I read one of her books I know to get comfy and strap myself in for the beautiful disturbing crazy ride I'm about to be put through.
And that's what this book exactly was a crazy rollercoaster ride with twists and turns you don't see coming at all. It had me on the edge of my seat and heart racing. I couldn't put it down. I ate this baby up.

This book. This insanely good book. And I use the word insanely advisedly. The hero and heroine are twisted, the book is twisted, the love story is intense. There’s something so hot about a man who will bathe the world in blood at lunchtime if his woman is hurt after breakfast. (Did you know there’s a pancake 🥞 emoji? Life is awesome.) Anyway, their love is immediate, intense, inspirational. Because a love that deep is something everyone should aspire to and is something most of us yearn for in our deepest hearts.
The MMC and FMC are brought together by an insane asylum that specializes in those with criminal issues. The MMC, Ezra, is an inmate there and is dangerously hot and openly violent. The FMC, Cara, has been trafficked in the past and has come to work at the asylum as a fresh start. I don’t know who is more mentally unstable as neither of them is a poster child for sanity. But who here is? The asylum is appropriately creepy, There are dastardly goings on in the background as Ezra and Cara’s Instalove develops into an epic. I liked the storyline and the revealed secrets. The side characters were well developed, with Suzy and Ajax being particularly fun. But it is Ezra who is the star of the book and who has landed on my list of Ultimate Book Boyfriends.
There are triggery elements, so make sure to check the really thorough content warning at the beginning of the book. But if you look at triggers as flavor and red flags as really checkered, this book is for you.

There’s something so hot about a man who will bathe the world in blood at lunchtime if his woman is hurt after breakfast. (Did you know there’s a pancake 🥞 emoji? Life is awesome.) Anyway, their love is immediate, intense, inspirational. Because a love that deep is something everyone should aspire to and is something most of us yearn for in our deepest hearts.
The MMC and FMC are brought together by an insane asylum that specializes in those with criminal issues. The MMC, Ezra, is an inmate there and is dangerously hot and openly violent. The FMC, Cara, has been trafficked in the past and has come to work at the asylum as a fresh start. I don’t know who is more mentally unstable as neither of them is a poster child for sanity. But who here is? The asylum is appropriately creepy, There are dastardly goings on in the background as Ezra and Cara’s Instalove develops into an epic. I liked the storyline and the revealed secrets. The side characters were well developed, with Suzy and Ajax being particularly fun. But it is Ezra who is the star of the book and who has landed on my list of Ultimate Book Boyfriends.
There are triggery elements, so make sure to check the really thorough content warning at the beginning of the book. But if you look at triggers as flavor and red flags as really checkered, this book is for you.

Billie Jade has become an auto read/auto buy author for me! It was a perfectly written dark romance. Ezra and Cara’s story swept me away. There’s tons of witty banter, laugh out loud moments, and the spice was definitely spicing!! The tension between the MCs was about to make ME snap over here. When it finally gets steamy between these two, hang on and buckle up for the ride, because it is hot hot HOT! 🥵🔥 I was on the edge of my seat there towards the end, my heart was in my throat. Whew! Not cool to almost give me a heart attack, Billie! 😮💨🤣 I’m gonna go ahead and add Ezra Wolfe to my dark romance book boyfriend list because my, oh my… HE WAS EVERYTHING! Cara is one lucky ducky. Like all of Billie's work, this was fantastic. Dark romance with witty banter and the perfect dose of spice, this book is everything a reader wants and more. Billie has a great talent of immediately pulling you in and keeping you enthralled throughout the entirety of the novel. Her mmcs are drool worthy and check all the boxes for unhinged yet loveable. I absolutely adore this author and everything she writes. I can't wait for the third book in the series, Veiled Obsessions.

Fractured Reality is book two in The Grimmville series. Don’t worry, you don’t have to read book one Deadly Nightshade before reading this one, the books in this series are all standalones. However, I’m a bit OCD when it comes to certain things and I like to read books that come in a series in order, so I went back and read book one before I started this book. Billie Jade Kermack conjures up a world with Cara and Ezra so vivid that you don’t even realize that this book is part of a series. This book is so good. It has a twist you might not see coming. I think I’m in lovst with Ezra. I love Cara’s character. Oh, and I need to read about the Twins! I cannot wait to read the next book Billie has to offer!

It was an absolute privilege to read this book before it's out in the big wide world, I adore Billie's writing and couldn't wait to jump down the rabbit hole with these two.
I thought no one could compare to Jax (book one), but oh my, Ezra!!! He is just so.... (wipes drool from face) Yep, I fell in love, and now Jax and Ezra have become my manwich. He is such a gorgeous psycho, and Cara is just so well-matched with him. Together, they created perfect chaos, and I was here for it. The twists, the turns, the laugh-out-loud moments- it was a fantastic story that I just couldn't put down. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves their romance dark and delicious.

Great, great book! Interconnected stand alone to Deadly Nightshade. It was great to see how the characters grew and moved on from the 1st book. No one can mess with Red when Mr. Wolfe is around and that was shown from the moment they met.
Cara is trying to move forward with her new found freedom in a new town, where she was offered a job at Blackwood Aslyum- a place for the criminally insane.
Ezra Wolfe is a patient at the asylum who quickly becomes obsessed with Cara. Ezra is trying to figure out these new feelings while also trying to figure out his past and how he got to where he is.
This book had me on the edge of my seat and was very much worth the read!

I can't express how much I loved this. I actually downloaded it a while ago and let it fester, and boy should I have read it sooner. Wolfe is absolutely mad, multiple voices in his head, but his obsession with her is on point
One look at Cara and he knew that was it he was done for, and what's better is she was the same way. She, herself, was also slightly mad, not enough to be locked up as well, but in the general sense of are we not all a little nuts.
Amazing journey to find the truth behind his incarceration and to get them to their happily ever after.

I'm gonna dive into book 1 now and I can't wait to meet the cowboy twins again after that in book 3.

Fractured reality is slow burn but the story is just perfect! Cara and Ezra are just perfect for each other! Dangerous and adorable. The twist within the characters I wasn’t expecting but it also made it different to other books! You cannot predict where this book goes!!

Billie has done it again. She gets us swooning with this dangerous guy who is also a giant golden retriever for his girl. Our female lead is strong and determined, no matter has happened to her.
To top it off, the tears did come which is a guarantee for a 5⭐ as I love to feel when reading.
I would say it's a slow to mid burn, but the spice heats up..... especially with a chase.
Check your triggers, but if you're like me and they are a recipe for a good book jump right in.

Okay wait what?! I stumbled across this and honestly couldn’t imagine a better book to accidentally stumble across. Ezra is the true definition of “touch her and 💀” but on a whole different level, the spoon incident?? Yeah that’s the one 😮💨 the last few chapters wrecked me, Cara was everything you need in an FMC, their journey together? That’s one that everyone needs to read because holy hell, it’s intense, spicy, psychotic and I’m here for all of it. Now I’m off to find Suzy and Jax’s story and then I need to see what happens with Caleb and Cooper 😮💨🖤

This book is hot, witty, dark and romantic. I love Ezra he's the sweetest psycho ever.😍😍😍 sign me up for one of him please lol. I couldn't believe that plot twist towards the end and I love the fact that Jax and Suzy were included in the book as well. I love how the author always makes her characters so witty and relatable. Some of the things they say and do make me chuckle. Cara especially when she would stick her foot in her mouth 😂.

You get pulled in right from the start. We met Cara in Deadly Nightshade and now we get to expand more on her life after those events. She meets Ezra and that is the end of that. They are perfection together. There are a lot of dark and twisted moments which really keep you interested. I was riveted from the start and loved every minute of it.

A dark romance set in a mental institution with two characters who have overcome traumatic situations, the set up was great and very interesting, but it fell flat, some parts dragged on and on, and some side characters were not well flesh out.
This is supposed to be a series, but the little we get about the next book's characters, it's just not enough to keep me hooked, the idea was great but the execution just didn't convince me. It was very average.
