‘Mother Nature gets to make the decision as to the kid’s actual birthday’- Perfect Sci-Fi!
Texas author Jim West continues his fascinating series DNAlien with this third installment that further explores the primary character, Gene. West’s keen ability to join history with sci-fi makes this fiction novel credible, as is evident in the following passage from the Prologue that provides background for this story: ‘Deep beneath the Naal Air Station/Joint Reserve Base (NAS/JRB) Fort Worth Texas, formerly known as Caswell AFB, there exists a facility dedicated to a single purpose: the creation of a new life form that combines the DNA of captured aliens with human embryos. That well-kept secret became at risk when Vicki Grubbs, one of the primary caretakers of the Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement (GENE) program, found her time left on earth dramatically shortened and her love of the product more important than her own well-being.’
In this episode the birth of a child between Gene and his love Leslie takes focus, adding many interactions between the couple and their friends Butch and Kevin and the story blossoms. As this story closes, the author adds, ‘After many years of limited success and enormous expense in the GENE program, the government finally abandoned that aspect of research and concentrated on other areas. Or so they say.’ That statement leaves open the possibility for further adventures. A true page-turner, this novel explodes with fascinating events, securing the reader’s attention to the very last page. An exceptionally fine series!’
Jim West really delivers with DNALIEN III, cranking up the stakes for Gene and his crew. When Gene and Leslie have their baby, it's this sweet moment that quickly turns dangerous, putting the whole family on the run from the government. West hooks you right away and does a solid job mixing emotional stuff with fast-paced action. The rough Texas setting makes all the chases and fights feel authentic and gritty. This third book works because of its unexpected twists and characters that actually have some depth to them and balances nicely with all the nail-biting tension. West's writing style pulls everything together really well. If you're into sci-fi, you'll want to check this one out—it's packed with surprises and keeps you guessing throughout. Highly recommended.
If you already enjoyed Jim West's first two books, “DNALIEN III” is the perfect sequel and, believe me, you won't be disappointed. Things get a lot more interesting: Gene, the main character, is not only still the center of a relentless hunt, but now he has a baby, can you imagine the complication? What this book does have is non-stop action and suspense that will take your breath away, because every decision can mean the difference between life and being discovered. It's a race against time where family ties become crucial in the midst of danger.
If you like the idea of seeing how the characters fight for survival against all odds, and you want to feel the tension on every page, this is the book for you. Recommended!
A couple of days ago, I read the second book in this series, and while I was reading it, I decided to buy the third to continue exploring this captivating story. Just like in the first two books, we follow the life of Gene, a unique being, through experiments with alien DNA and human embryos. In this third installment, Gene and Leslie's son was born, and now they must face a more delicate and complex situation. The twists and turns in this saga really kept me glued to my seat. I recommend reading the books in order, as each one follows a chronological order. The characters are very well described, and it's fascinating to watch their transformations.
After reading the second part of this saga, I couldn’t wait to start the third one and find out what would happen with Gen, Leslie, and their baby on the way. Now that the baby has been born in this third book, the story becomes even more exciting, and the chase for Gen feels more intense for the reader, since we don’t want him to be separated from his child or the woman he loves. Reading Jim West across these three books in the saga was truly enjoyable and entertaining. In my opinion, he did an excellent job with this series, and I’m excited to keep reading his work, as he has become a reference for me in science fiction and adventure.
In this third installment, author Jim West surprises with an equally important development: Gene is expecting a son, which strengthens the search, especially now that the government knows about the baby's existence. ''DNALIEN III'' like the other books, does not disappoint. The suspense and the new elements the author adds to the story keep us intrigued. Furthermore, the development of the main character is brilliant and makes you feel a connection to him, becoming emotionally and morally the core of the story. I have to say I am obsessed with this series of books; they are really intriguing and keep you in suspense the whole time. I highly recommend it.
