Love 101: Don’t fall for your grumpy silver fox professor.
Last week I was almost stomped to death by an untrained horse.
I was rescued by the most arrogant, most gorgeous cowboy I had ever laid eyes on.
He was way above six feet, broad shoulders and bulging muscles.
Once I was safe, his piercing eyes were fierce with blame.
As he accused me of being reckless, I couldn’t help stare at his handsome face.
I was somehow to blame for his expensive horse almost trampling me.
I scowled up at him and let him have a few angry words of my own.
I tried not to include the words “handsome” and “dashing” among them.
That arrogant billionaire quickly became my enemy along with his murderous horse.
Now I’m sitting in my first masters level class and to my surprise who is my professor?
His face is even more ruggedly beautiful.
My heart quickens and everything he says seems filled with wisdom.
I don’t know if I can get through this grumpy cowboy’s class without falling for him.
This book is part of a set of standalone novels about the 9 Abraham sisters. The sisters all have different personalities and goals for their lives. Some are serious, some quirky, some studious, some outright bold and sassy. But they all have one common desire in their hearts and that is to help each other and their extended family.
This was a good read. Weird things are happening to Ariel and Luke. They soon realize that there is a stalker on the loose. They start spending time together in order for him to keep her safe. Of course, they fall in love and get their happy ending.
This story is told in dual POV that changes every chapter. This book could be titled Grumpy Cowboy Professor & Entitled Princess. Both the hero and heroine are annoyingly self-righteous, but at least the "grumpy cowboy professor" did the right thing (tried to save her from his runaway horse who she unwittingly triggered)! Their first meeting is unpleasant because she's stupid and doesn't follow instructions well, then expects royal treatment instead of just thank him for saving her life and going on with her day. I didn't make it beyond chapter 2.
Excerpts:
Her POV:
Next thing I know I am caught in a three-way standoff, the horse stays still, eyeing the man who stands in the way of her mission to end me. The man stands there seemingly ready to stop the horse with his bare hands, which unless he is some Colorado version of a blonde superman is likely impossible. And then there is me, on the floor praying to God that the horse somehow gets him first and gives me enough time to escape. I refuse to think of this as me being selfish. In all honesty, I am just helping out. It would be pointless for this gentleman to put himself in harm’s way for my sake and I end up disappointing him by dying. I will live to carry on the tales of his brave deeds.
“Miss? I need you to get up and run.”
The man says to me without turning around. My brows furrow as I give his back and broad shoulders an incredulous look. “If I try to move the horse will charge forward.”
I point out, my voice surprisingly comes out in a calm whisper. I am probably in shock and my body has gone into full acceptance of my looming death. “That is why I am here to stop her. I need to get you out of harm’s way so I suggest you just do as you are told.”
The man growls at me, frustration is evident in his voice...
His POV:
What is this short stranger doing to me? What is this overpowering need to engage with her? I wonder to myself. I am not much of a people person, I dislike small talk. I just don’t have the patience for it. Yet… The lady is tapping her foot impatiently against the straw-covered ground of the stable, and Snowflake snorts a little. The lady jerks reflexively and then blushes when she sees my raised eyebrow.
“You should have known better than to bring a riding crop close to Snowflake. Everyone knows she is very skittish about such equipment.” I say to her, my voice coming out rougher than I intended because of the turmoil roaring inside of me. “Well, I didn’t know that.”
She snaps looking even more embarrassed. Her eyes fall to the ground and she chews on her lip. “If you didn’t know that then that fact alone is more proof that you shouldn’t have been in here. All the tamer horses are on the other side of the stable. And this door was locked. Every staff knows that. So how did you get a key?”
I ask her, feeling strangely suspicious. The more I think about this near accident more objectively, the more unlikely it seems that this whole event should have happened. Snowflake was cordoned off to this section of the stable. She is a fine horse, but still very much untrained. I am the only one she has taken a liking to, which is just as well since I am her owner. Everyone else knows to keep away from her.
“Why are you interrogating me like some criminal? I already told you my grandparents own the place.” The redhead responds in a defensive voice. “And there was no lock preventing me from entering. The entire place was wide open. If she is so dangerous then she should have been tethered. You just want to blame this whole thing on me when I have no fault in the matter!”
I listen to her little rant with a bland expression and my response is short and blunt. “I just saved your life, you should show more gratitude you know.”
“Well thank you very much.” She says through gritted teeth and the sound does wonders to my ears, I have to restrain the smile that wants to curve up my lips. She really is fascinating to observe. I nod importantly. And turn my attention back to the horse who has calmed down remarkably well.
“You are welcome. Now please stay away from my horse.” I respond in a lofty tone.
A small gasp escapes from her lips and I am forced to look back at her. There is an accusation in her eyes as she perches her hands on her hips and glares at me. “So it is your horse?”
She cries out, crossing her arms across her chest, and harrumphs loudly. “Well, now I know where she gets her grumpy unwelcoming mood from. This is all your fault, you could have trained her better.”
It is my turn to glower at her. Did she just call me grumpy and unwelcoming? “I train her well enough.” I spit out. Managing to sound more defensive than I want to. “I just don’t expect strangers to approach her with a whip.” I throw out.
“That was not intentional! How many times do I have to say that?” She waves her hand in the general direction of the other stalls and continues to speak. “I saw it on the wall and I sort of just picked it up. By the time I’d approached Snowflake, I completely forgot it was in my hand.”
“Right.” I draw out. “Look, just forget about it and stay away from her okay?” I am dismissive as I start to look around for the horse saddle and bit, so I can lead Snowflake out into the pasture.
“You are dismissing me?” Her voice is hushed with incredulity. “I must say you are extremely arrogant!”
I turn back to her my nostrils flaring up in anger.

It just goes on and on from there. 🙄 I would only recommend this book to people who enjoy stupid arguments.

I laughed and snickered through most of this book. Ariel is definitely the sunshine to Luke’s grumpy. She is impulsive, rather chatty, very bubbly and always writing scenes or scenarios in her head. After meeting, Luke, he becomes a prominent figure in those sometimes hilarious scenarios. Which is why she is often smirking, giggling and not paying attention to Luke whenever he is near. Luke, in contrast, is stern, rather serious and not quick to smile or laugh. The grumpy description suits him to a T. Ariel’s looks and personality has knocked him off his axis, leaving him rather alarmed and stunned. He finds himself looking forward to seeing her again, though when he realizes he is her writing professor, he is knocked back a bit. Professor and student association outside of class or consultation sessions are frowned upon. He admits he wants to get to know the beautiful redhead much better. He is surprised to discover Ariel has real talent and creativity, and though he currently has writers block, he is eager to help her craft a script chronicling her grandparents life story. When strange and threatening incidents start happen around Ariel, Luke links them to the letters he has been getting and realizes he has a stalker who sees Ariel as a threat to eliminate. Getting no assistance from the police, Luke takes protecting Ariel on himself with a little help from a security service. Ariel has become very important to him in a short period of time. Can he keep her safe? Could they possibly have a future together?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this story, though there was never much of an explanation of why the professor was so grumpy. Mostly it seemed like he was depressed because he couldn't write, but there were hints at more. The student love interest was exuberant but still believable. The worst part of the book was the terrible punctuation, seldom correct and sometimes just missing, which led to lots of run-on sentences. . The use of the present tense was annoying but readable. There weren't very many uses of the non-word ALRIGHT, which is all wrong, compared to some other books I have read online.. The correct spelling is ALL RIGHT, always two words. I highlighted as many mistakes as I could. Find a good proofreader.
Enjoyed this great read by Rose. It has great characters, romance, mystery, suspense and danger.Could not put it down. It is Ariel and Luke's romance. Luke is a famous scriptwriter and he is in town to teach classes.Ariel has sighned upto his classes. Their first encounter was not great.Ariel is shocked when she finds out Luke is her proffessor. He starts helping her after class and they become friends. Ariel is Luke's student so she is off limits, but the attraction between them is undeniable. When she is targeted by a crazed fan of Luke's he does everything to protect her. They eventually get to their happily ever after amid the danger and suspense.

A clean sweet romance that has its ups and downs. It doesn't help that Ariel is clumsy and nearly gets stomped by a horse to be saved by a grumpy cowboy, Luke. Ariel wants to write her grandparents sweet love story while taking a writing course. Surprise - the professor of the course is Luke, her grumpy cowboy. And they start seeing each other in a different light. BUT Ariel has a stalker. It seems one of Luke's students has a mad crush on him and is a danger to Ariel. Aside from some grammatical errors, this is a fast enjoyable read that takes you to a great ending! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is a clean sweet romance with some suspense to keep things moving. I enjoyed the thought process of Ariel; she made up the best scenarios in her head. She is spontaneous, which gets her into the funniest situations. Luke is an Oscar award winning play wright who is in a slump with writer's block and it has darkened his every emotion, until he meets Ariel who brings his life into focus. He has no problem being her rescuer which is good because he has a stalker who doesn't want Ariel around. The only downside for me was the lack of communication between all those involved. That said, I would recommend this book.
Luke and Ariel meet when his horse almost kills her. Shortly after, they meet again at the college. Luke is an award winning playwright, but he has writers block so he is teaching for a while. Ariel becomes one of his students as she wants to write a script about her grandparents romance. Sparks fire up but a serious stalker of his is out to get her as she seems like competition. The characters are terrific, believable, have great chemistry and banter. The storyline flows well between the romance and the tension building. Can he protect her? Great ending.

This is a light, safe, and easy read. At times the banter between Ariel and Luke is comical. There is also a stalker who wants to harm Ariel which adds suspense to the story. Unfortunately, the author needs to get a good proofreader because there are some glaring grammatical mistakes in her work. I do plan to read another of the books in this series because I did enjoy the plot and the interaction between the characters.
Ariel wants to write her grandparents love story. She decided to spend some time with them and was also taking a writing class. Strange things happen to her and she thinks they are just by chance. She almost gets kicked by a horse but is saved by a very grumpy cowboy! Ariel goes to class and who is the professor? The grumpy cowboy...Luke. What will Ariel and Luke do? This book will keep you on your toes in anticipation of the next tragedy or comedic event. Most of the time the tragic events turn comedic due to Arial's clumsiness. Luke, a famous script writer, appoints himself as her guardian when he learns his yellow headband wearing stalker has targeted Airial. This is a clean read that is appropriate for all ages.

This is such a fun grumpy/sunshine series. This is another great story about a lovely couple, Ariel and Luke. Never a dull moment, this book has some mystery and suspense with a stalker. It's also a clean read, entertaining, well written with great detail and a well planned plot. A very enjoyable & intriguing read.

Goes for a walk -- and gets mauled by a bear - and loses her memory. THIS IS A SUPERB BOOK!!! LOVED IT!
This is a well written book with strong characters in Ariel and Luke. The author brings a grumpy/sunshine romance and weaves an entertaining story. She brings suspense and mystery along with the romance and paints her scenes perfectly. It moves fluidly and is a great read.

Allow a day for this compelling contemporary family-friendly professor-student romantic comedy set at the Golden Oaks Ranch in Colorado where 24-year-old Ariel Adventure Abraham has gone to complete a screenplay about how her grandparents started the ranch.

Wonderful romance story that begins with some drama. It's always fun to read these books where the characters try to fight their attraction but you can feel it underlying everything they do in the choices they make. Enjoy the characters. Good read.

Ariel wants to write movies. She comes to stay with her grandparents while she writes. She enrolls in a class at the local university that is being taught by a well known writer, Luke James. The first time they meet does not go very well. Luke has a stalker who takes an interest in Ariel. Can Luke protect Ariel until they find the stalker? Great story!!
These two didn't seem like they were going to make it. And don't forget the stalker. What a story and how they overcame ot all. This story had some fun and wit and dealt with a serious issue. It was a great story.

A good story of 2 people attracted to each other. Both are adults, but Luke knows that he can't act on his feelings as Ariel is his student. Add in a mystery stalker and you have an intriguing, page turning, well developed story. I received this ARC and voluntarily give my review.
To me, this was a bore to finish. It's way too long and overdrawn with the characters kissing until the 90% and mostly you're assuming that they kiss. The writing felt juvenile and it needed some editing.

This wasn't my favorite story by this author, the storyline was entertaining and the characters were annoying. A quick to read small town romance. Sweet story.
