Jen Logan is living her dream life on the water in a small community in Florida. Content with her husband and twins, she feels settled and at peace in nature. But when frightening notes start appearing in her home—signed simply by Invisible—her perfect world shatters.

Then she arrives home to find flowers placed all over her house, and the gift passed down through her family tells her she’s in terrible danger. The delicate white blooms of the oleander plant are an omen of death, and whoever is sending them knows this too. But why are they targeting her, and what do they want?

Before Jen can begin to find the culprit, her children are taken. In a shuddering heartbeat, she realizes that Invisible isn’t out to destroy her, but her family. And with the light fading and a storm brewing over the water, Jen knows there isn’t much time to find her children before darkness falls…

Can she find them before it’s too late? And if she does, will she do what it takes to stop Invisible forever?

This totally addictive thriller is perfect for anyone looking for an unputdownable read packed with unguessable twists, and for fans of Rachel Caine, Melinda Leigh and Mary Kubica.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Taken in the Dark, book two in the riveting Logan Sisters thriller series, delivers an engrossing tale that will appeal to fans of suspenseful tales. Like the previous book in the series, Taken in The Dark provides the perfect blend of suspense and family drama. This installment focuses on the eldest Logan sister, Jen and her family and the dangerous situation that poses a threat to their idyllic life. Jen's desperate search for answers is at the heart of this story, as she journeys through a web of fear and uncertainty to protect her loved ones.

The series follows three sisters who possesses unique gifts connected to nature. Jen's ability enables her to interpret warning signs from natural occurrences. When animals act wildly, it signals to Jen that danger is near. A recent increase in odd animal behavior has Jen questioning the source of the impending threat. Then, threatening notes signed 'Invisible' began appearing in the most unexpected places, and items mysteriously misplaced. Before long, everything around her started to fall apart. This led to her doubting her competence as a psychologist and, above all, her sanity. Just when it seemed that the situation couldn't worsen, her children were kidnapped. At that moment, she realized the threat was directed not only at her but also at her family.

What an experience! Even though the mystery aspect was somewhat disappointing, the suspenseful elements achieved their goal. The mystery diminished for me once I deduced who was targeting Jen just fifteen percent into the story. There were other likely candidates, but this one stood out like a sore thumb. However, other elements, like the antagonist's motivation, kept me invested in the story.

While I admired Jen's resilience, I felt she was too trusting, which left her vulnerable to Invisible's attacks. The story illustrates the importance of being cautious about who we let into our personal circle and, by extension, our homes.

"Taken in the Dark" proved to be an engaging read, and I would recommend it to fans of the genre. I eagerly anticipate the upcoming installment in the series. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

When a crime thriller starts “Blood. Everywhere” as a single line, you know you’re in for a treat especially when the remains of the prologue doesn’t give the individual involved a name, just their horrified thoughts at what they could see!!

I briefly met Jen in the first book of the series, when she came to support sister Rachel. But now she’s front and centre of the story. And what a story. Something is afoot and it’s physically and mentally affecting this Logan gal. Is she going mad ??

I really don’t want to make of Sharon. She’s playing the perfect victim of domestic abuse but there are things I don’t trust about this woman! Maybe I’ve become an untrusting reader! Maybe I am a good judge of character… you’ll find out if you read the book!

Taken In The Dark has a different feel to its predecessor. Jen feels more of a detective than her sibling Rachel, despite being mentally and physically affected by events around her. Webb’s storytelling is enrapturing. I was there with Jen and her family. I felt the fear Jen felt as the omens around her appeared. Cracking thriller and you don’t need to have read Black Crow Cabin to enjoy it but why wouldn’t you want to meet another of the Logan sisters??

In the first book the middle sister Rachel was the main character. In this one the author puts the eldest of the three Logan sisters in the spotlight.

Just like in the previous book, the book bathes in an eery atmosphere where nature signals when danger is lurking in the shadows.en

I like Jen. She is strong woman who is not standing idly by when the going gets tough. When it's time to act, she does not hesitate even when the situation is precarious. Ben, on the other hand, was not my favorite person. He is weak and the way he acted in the end was really not done in my opinion. I am glad athe realised even though the horses had already bolted...

I had an inkling of the identity of the culprit and I was happy I could congratulate myself in the end. :)

Great story. I enjoyed myself a lot reading it. 5 stars

Thank you

book 2 in the series about the sisters, this one is about jen and her family

nature has a way of warning jen when there is danger about and the fact that the turtles start to leave the ocean and make their way up to her house has jen shouting at them to go back leaves her in no doubt that danger is around her and about to surface

at the moment they are housing her best friend sharon as her abusive husband got to much for her to handle and with the extra security jen is hopeful that they can keep him away

but as nature makes itself known to jen she knows that trouble is coming shortly and it doesnt help when jen goes back into her house and there are oleander flowers in all the bouquets around the house signaling death was imminent a flower that she doesnt want anywhere near her...

wow what a 2nd book this one is.... and we get to know more about this gift passed down from their mother to her daughters i for one cant wait for book 3 after reading this one, its an exciting new series to get in to

Taken in the Dark by Peggy Webb is the second book in a new Logan Sisters series and this was just as good as the first book which I loved and this one was no different it was a great page turner from the start to finish.

Jen Logan is happy and is living her dream life on the water in a small community in Florida. She is living the dream with her husband and twins, and she feels settled and at peace in nature, especially as it on her door step and can watch it every day. Everything is perfect until frightening notes start appearing in and around her perfect home. They are all signed simply by "Invisible" Jens perfect world around her starts to shatter all around her.

When she arrives home one evening only to find flowers placed all over her house, and the gift passed down through her family tells her she’s in terrible danger. The delicate white blooms of the Oleander plant which is beautiful to look at but they are an omen of death!!!!

Whoever is sending them knows this too.

But why are they targeting her, and what do they want?

Before Jen can start to look into who the culprit is, her beautiful children are taken and nowhere to be found!

In a shuddering heartbeat, she realises that "Invisible" isn’t out to destroy her, but her little perfect family.

But why?

With the light fading fast and there is a storm brewing over the water, Jen knows there isn’t much time to find her children before darkness falls…........and the darkness is falling quickly!

Can Jen find them before it’s too late?

If she does, will she do what it takes to stop "Invisible" forever?

Tick Tock the clock is ticking..........and time is running out!

WoW, this book was Superb and I highly recommend this book.....Looking forward reading more books in this series

Taken in the Dark is the gripping, riveting, and thrilling second book in the Logan Sisters Series. Jen is the sister featured in this book. She appears to have it all - a home on the water in Florida, a good career, a husband and her twins. Jen has a unique gift that has been passed down in her family that tells her when she is in danger. When notes, flowers and turtles show up, she knows that danger is lurking.

Soon Jen's life begins to spiral. She becomes suspicious and worried for not only herself but her family. In addition, she is also noticing that things are not so perfect at home. With her family in town, she hopes to get to the bottom of things but then her biggest fear happens as her children go missing!

Peggy Webb kept me on my toes as I tried to come up with whodunit. I kept changing my suspect list and more is revealed. I enjoy the 'gift' that is passed down in the family and how it comes into play during this book. I also enjoyed the sense of unease, tension, and suspicion that grew as the plot unfolded.

The sisters and their grandmother are likeable, quirky, and interesting. I enjoyed spending time with them once again. I found this book to be well written, well thought out, and gripping.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Gripping, suspenseful right from the start! The story jumps right into the mysterious notes and disturbing behaviour being shown towards Jen. This was such a great way to introduce the book to the readers! The short chapters allowed the reading experience to be top notch. I started to list potential culprits as the story unfolded I was dumfounded by the quality of the writing style. How impactful this was! Enough details to keep up the tension and thrills. Jen's character was such a strong headed lady keeping up with the back to back situations arising leaving her feeling vulnerable. Her determination was admirable! Ben on the other hand what a sleaze! I wasn't a fan of the decisions he chose to make.

Showcasing the life's of rich people and how not enough money in the world can replace or be a substitute for happiness and love. One thing I was put off by was the references to certain flowers and nature. I wasn't really interested in that.

I did guess who the culprit was, but it was great to see how it planned out.

Thank you Peggy Webb, Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this arc.

Jennifer Turner is a psychologist and has recently began experiencing a slipping memory. Not only is this rather sudden, she begins to doubt her perfect life with her husband Benjamin. In fact, Jen often wonders if she is being gaslit, but she has no proof. Thankfully, her grandmother Victoria and her sister Annie visit when they realize that things are not just quite right with Jen.

Aside from her own worries, Jen feels more than impelled to help her friend Sharon, a sad victim of domestic abuse. Even though Jen is experiencing her own troubles, she gives much of herself and her time to Sharon. Just like in the first book about the Logan sisters, Jen has a gift, a strong intuition that things are quite off-balance. With strange occurrences happening over and over again, Jen is in quite a quandary. In fact, Jen begins to doubt the very ones in her close circle. Jen is not only worried for herself, but also for her children.

What an exciting thriller by Peggy Webb. A perfect second to Black Crow Cabin, which was Rachel’s story. Without a Trace is Annie’s story, set for release in September. These Logan sisters have their gifts, but they also have danger up front and present in their lives. While reading Jen’s story, the sense of urgency was powerful, and my attention was riveted right from the start.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I eagerly dove into Jen’s story, the stalwart sister who ran her life like a confidant military commander.
Yet, I spotted the sinister snake in the initial chapters.
Like the birds that kept appearing to warn Jen that foulness was afoot, I had to constantly wipe ,y reader windshield from the bird callings to see through the smears.
I was in turmoil while reading because I had a scathing opinion of someone very close to Jen, which didn’t change by the end of the book.
A couple of the characters made me want to borrow Victoria’s cowboy boots and kick theirs bums beyond the beach horizon.
Victoria was hilarious with her usual kick ass and take names brashness.
Readers meet Annie who commandeers the take charge attitude.
I loved all the luscious scenery descriptions amidst the danger.
Bring on Annie’s story. Oh, and Helicopter Hank can make an appearance…
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early read.

Taken in the Dark is the second thrilling installment of Webb's new Logan Sisters series.

For those that haven't read any of the series, there are three Logan sisters. In the last book Rachel was the main character, in this book it's Jen's turn.

I'm really enjoying the series so far. I like the authors writing style, she knows how to engage her audience and keep them wanting more.

Taken in the Dark is a super twisty thriller with dark undertones and several scenes which some readers may find distressing.

I know this is only book two, but the sisters are such great characters and so easy to become emotionally invested in. They've also all got the sixth sense, which they inherited from their mother.

I'm already hotly anticipating my spot on the upcoming tour for Without a Trace.

After the kidnapping of her sister in the first book, Jen the eldest is the focus for this book. She lives a perfect life, had a perfect house, an amazing husband and sweet twins. Things start to go wrong as omens are predicting danger. The book is a decent psychological thriller and makes you question who is good and who isn’t. The book does leave breadcrumbs along the way so the end mastermind was a bit predictable. The end of it was sad as it deals with domestic violence so warning might be necessary.

Wow! This book is awesome. Peggy Webb, this is the best one yet, and my new favorite. This book has it all; love, betrayal, mysticism, psychological thriller, suspense, edge of your seat page turner. Is Jen's house haunted? Just who or what is "Invisable"? Jen is a strong woman, but is being driven out of her mind and those around her are worried, husband, her best friend, her sisters and those around her. The characters are so strong, they become real as you read. You feel what they are going through. Great read!!

Overused descriptions

This book was so full of unnecessary descriptions - it was twice as long as it should have been. And it became almost irritating.
