After freeing a siren and a dire bear from the castle dungeons, Quinn flees the only home she's ever known. She heads south to try to find her friend—and rescue the princess. Trapped in Twelve Pools, Jaxon struggles to decipher the message Annabel gave him. He knows time is running out to cure his brother. While they both fight to save the people they love, the rumblings of war grow and they begin to realize there is more at stake than they could ever have imagined.
Jessica Geraci grew up in New York, with her four siblings. Her writing has appeared in numerous places including newspapers, magazines, websites, ads, video scripts, and graphics. Geraci spent two years in Vanuatu serving in the Peace Corps. Her favorite Peace Corps projects included forming a women's leadership group and spearheading a project to help fund and install a library at the local school. She currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband.
Y'all. When I tell you I was legitimately hangry for more of this story after finishing "Creator of the Stones," I cannot stress to you enough that I was DESPERATE for more. I've impatiently waited for over a year, dug into Geraci's socials, and focused my beady little eyes on all the details in her posts hoping to scrounge up a little preview. Well, I have to say, it was worth the wait.
The second book picks up with Quinn, Mae (and can't forget fan faves, Kit and Pima) journeying to find Jaxon. Their trek is long and arduous, as they aim to steer clear of main roads and avoid the soldiers of Viridis. I don't want to spoil, but I honestly couldn't read this book quickly enough and found myself rereading certain passages, I enjoyed them so much. I appreciated the character development and suspense in the first book, but in this continuation of the story, the growth many of the characters experience, the complexity, emotional depth, and unexpected twists and turns keep you reeled in. The writing is unparalleled-I laughed, cried, got pissed and most of all, felt deep empathy for these characters, even at times, for those I don't like! Geraci tackles complex themes such as loss, grief, and trauma with sensitivity and nuance. The characters' emotions are authentic and relatable, making it easy to become invested in their stories, which I have. It is not easy to write characters and a story that succeeds at engaging and investing readers and discussing complex themes without bending to tropes and I think that's the big coup for Geraci here. Once again, I find myself jonesing for more of this story.
As the second installment in the Stone Guild trilogy, "Seer of the Stones" by J.R. Geraci is practically a masterclass in world-building, character development, and twisty, turny suspense. This novel is a must-read for fans of fantasy, particularly if you're a fan of series such as Harry Potter, The Mortal Instruments, or Throne of Glass, but honestly, even if YA or fantasy aren't your typical genres-I still suggest you give this story a try-I think it's engaging and appealing across all demographics.
I loved this more than the first one. I loved all the characters it’s written really well and the world building is very easy to follow so it’s not a super dense fantasy and I love the little subplot of romance and the twists. I really had a lot of fun with this and can’t wait for the next one!
Loved it. Waited two years for it and totally worth the wait. Gets right into the action. The characters are all well thought out and the story is fast paced. Finished it in a day.
Book two of The Stone Guild series is a perfect young adult introduction for readers interested in epic fantasy. The world building is easy but exciting! The characters are curious and ADORABLE.... I'm looking at you Kit the tiny fox, and the journey is brimming with adventurers trying to save their friends!
I loved visiting these young travelers as they traversed the land of Virdis. We see some new mythical faces, uncover enchanting hideaways, and expose the truth of Stones and those who bare them. Plus the guardian gnomes are as funny as they are grumpy!
Books like this are how fantasy readers are born. Wholesome kids on a quest, a whimsical world to explore, and a pinch of wicked villains is this book's recipe. Author gerica serves the ending on a platter that will have you hungry for more!
📚 Book Review 📚 Book: Seer of the Stones Author: J. R. Geraci Genre: Fantasy Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #bookloungereviewteam
This is Book 2 in The Stone Guild series by J.R.Geraci and picks up with Quinn and Mae traveling south to find their friend Jaxon and save Princess Annabel from the evil Prince Liam and his brother, Jonathan. Their quest is full of unexpected dangers and it takes all their cunning and perception to succeed in their mission. With war on the horizon and a Bloodsucker, an unknown enemy who has the ability to drain the power from the mystical stones, on the loose and becoming more powerful as he gains more mystical powers, Jaxon, Quinn, and Mae recognize that time is running out for their success. After reading the first book, I thought this was an exceptional continuation of The Stone Guild saga. I thought the world-building was awesome and the characters were well-developed as the story progressed. There was enough action, drama, and suspense to keep me turning pages. The author also added some exceptional characters that added an element of good humor and fun to the story. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any fantasy reader. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy
This is Book 2 in the series and we pick up right where we left off. Mae and Quinn have teamed up to go find Jaxon after he was kidnapped and with his help they plan to save Princess Annabel.
This journey of all the characters was filled with danger and mystery. It was full of action and made the pacing of the story flow more easily. I enjoyed that this whole adventure was high stakes and I loved the little discoveries of things we found out along the way, that added more pieces to the puzzle that the story had been weaving.
I loved the new characters we met in this book. They brought a much needed humor and light to this otherwise dark world. But I fell more in love with the characters we already knew, as we bonded with them more and learned more about their pasts.
I found it intriguing to learn more about the stones themselves, their history, and their power. But I mostly liked that I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for all the answers to be released as we were connecting all the dots.
So of course the ending made me gasp as more answers were, in fact, revealed. But even still there is so much we don’t know. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next in this story!
I really enjoyed this book. I’m not an audio book person but I was given it as an audio book and loved it. I listened to and from work and was able to enjoy the visuals in the book. I had forgotten parts of book 1, but got caught up to speed quickly on what was taking place. The adventures and journey weaved throughout the chapters really builds suspense and makes for an exciting book!! Looking forward to book 3
I liked this second volume a lot maybe because the setting changed and that will challenge the characters to act faster and truer to their believes. I like that we get a good insight into his family and life. This helps to clear his name in Book 1 a lot. The characters remain interesting and the plot engaging as well. Jaxon's love for his younger brother and the awakening of new stones will keep us going.
Okay, I'm hooked! This book picks up where 1 left off - right in the middle of chaos! I love this fantasy world that the author created - the magic is very unique. In SotS, the characters develop stronger friendships, develop in their own ways, and continue to try to save the ones they love. I highly recommend!
This is a great young adult fantasy read! The story is well written and keeps you so interested you can't stop reading until the end. I'm excited to see how the story ends in the next book because I'm very invested in the characters and storyline!
Seer of the Stone is a gripping and powerful follow up to book 1. The tale of Jaxon and Quinn picks up where Creator of the Stones left off. Quinn is traveling with the siren Mae across the kingdoms to find Jaxon and rescue her friend Princess Annabel after her kidnapping. Jaxon tries to escape the clutches of his cruel and powerful sister while trying to saved his beloved brother and get to Windsor to save Annabel.
Along the way they learn more about the stones, the history of the kingdoms and each other. They will also encounter new and familiar faces some of whom help them on their way while others have sinister intentions.
Seer of the stones is a fantastic read gripping and full of engaging characters whom you can't help but root for or against. Geraci has created a beautiful tale in a wonderfully written world that you can't wait to immerse yourself in. Bouts of danger are seamlessly interwoven with lighthearted moments of comedy and playfulness. It's a easy read that you'll wish wouldn't end.
Can't wait for this series to continue and eagerly looking forward to book 3.
I think I liked this one a little more than book one. I got to listen to it in audiobook form which was nice because I got through it really fast. In this book we get to travel to new lands, and meet some new people, as well as learn more about the original characters and the magic system. I would like to see a little more depth to the character development, but overall it’s a fun read and I’m looking forward to book three!
This book had me on the edge of my seat! I love Jax and Quinn! I laughed I cried and best of all I had a great adventure with my two book best friends and their companions. If you like whimsical magical and fantastical things grab your copy of this book. You won't regret it! Now what are you waiting for let's go on the next adventure together!
The second book of the stone guild series kept me on the edge of my seat!
Quinn frees Mae, the siren captive enemy turned ally, and their adoptive pet dire bear named Puma from the dungeons of Viridis, and sets out to rescue Jaxon, who was kidnapped by the assassin sent to find him by his own sister, the queen of Twelve Pools. Jaxon finds himself trying to unravel the message Princess Annabel gave him before he was kidnapped, with the hopes that it will give him the answers to healing his brother. Quinn knows that she needs Jaxon to save Princess Annabel, and though the journey to rescue him is long and arduous, both of them set out to save those that they love-and even as signs point to the beginnings of war-they quickly realize that much, much more is at stake.
I loved the second book of the Stone Guild Trilogy series and cannot wait to keep reading about these characters and this world!
