Check any list of 'great men' of the 20th Century and you're sure to find Winston Churchill ranked near the top. It was the courage, the strength, the indomitable will and the inspirational oratory of 'The British Bull Dog' that saved Britain and the world from the threat of Hitler. Statues of Churchill stand all over England, Canada, the USA and continental Europe. Countless schools bear his name, as do parks, towns, squares, highways, streets, tanks, submarines, ships, mountain ranges, trust funds and even cigars. More than just a great statesman, Churchill was, arguably, a literary giant as well. His numerous historical works made him one of the most prolific writers ever to serve as head of state. Author M S King draws upon mainstream sources to provide a critical take on this perception of Churchill.
This was a difficult book to read just like The Bad War from Mike King. But I felt it was really necessary to understand World War II and Churchill’s role in it. I was never a big fan of Churchill but after reading this book I learned what a horrible person he was. And how FDR, Eisenhower, Churchill, and Stalin were responsible for the deaths and rape of untold millions of people.
I just realized that everything I was taught about World War I and two was nothing but pure propaganda and lies. At 77 years old and college educated I feel cheated. This book will open your eyes and your jaw will drop.
