Such a good read. I very much enjoyed the first of Dave’s books and this one continued the tradition. There were several laugh out loud moments and as a teacher, I can relate to many of the stories here. My favourite chapter by far was “The Walkie-talkie.” I will definitely be recommending it to friends, both in education and outside of education. Great work!

This book felt like sitting down with a wise, funny friend who’s seen it all and lived to tell the stories. David Garlick captures the heart of education the chaos, the humor, the late night worries, and the deeply human moments in a way that feels authentic and relatable. I laughed, I nodded in recognition, and a few stories genuinely touched me. Whether you’re an educator or just someone who remembers school vividly, this is a warm, honest, and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Great read. Fast. Thoughtful. Funny. Relatable. Any educator will be able to relate - but also - it’s a solid book of wonderful stories - and even though the stories are so personal to the author, his powerful storytelling will have the reader reflecting on their own life and experiences.
