*I received a free copy of this book, with thanks to the author, Firefly Press and Graeme Williams of Graeme Williams Marketing. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

Yay! We LOVED Michael the Amazing Mind-Reading Sausage Dog and have been keeping an eye out for a sequel, and here it is!

Michael and Stanley Big Dog briefly forsake the world of showbiz for some amateur sleuthing when the annoyingly smug Susan gets dog-napped by a nefarious cheese-loving gang of criminals. Which leads the more bum-scratching, chicken chew eating, waistcoat-wearing antics from the pompous mind-reader and his simple – but highly lovable! – sidekick.

Here’s what Minishine (11) and Babybows (8) had to say about the book:

Babybows: I can only give this 4.999999 stars because I really need to know WHY Michael can’t read pugs’ minds!
Minishine: Don’t be silly! Definitely 5 stars! The characters are good and it was sooooo funny. My favourite is Stanley because I like big dogs with floppy ears, and because he’s funny too.
Babybows: Well I like BOTH Michael AND Stanley because Stanley is funny and Michael is silly.
Minishine: I think it’s trying to teach us that people can make mistakes and learn from them and move on. Because Michael keeps ignoring everyone cos he thinks he knows best but then it all goes wrong and he needs help.
Babybows: I learnt that dogs can be detectives… I didn’t know that. And that they think trees are just really big sticks!

As before, this children’s adventure is greatly entertaining (I particularly enjoy doing daft voices for all the different dogs!) and well-written (a highlight was the explanation of why the warehouse smelled of cheese!).

We consider this book/series fun for all ages and declare it yet another family reading-time favourite.

A fun a whitty book that follows a pair of dogs that have been involved in a police investigation, will be the perfect read for an young either police or dog enthusiasts. The book its self is beautifully illustrated and features a wide range of breeds to suit all young dog loves, it's also packed full of jokes to keep them amused. The only downside to the book I found was that it went off plot multiple times which may lose the attention of some young readers

When Michael becomes a bit of a sleuth to solve a crime, he ends up in even more trouble! But his talent comes in handy! Featuring sleazy motels, some quips and japes, and a funny little museum, this made me smile lots!
