Hunters are meant to slay monsters, but when Man rejects his soul, a beast he becomes.
A year has passed since Lisa Rae Robbie won the Paragon Games and told all the worlds that she is the famed Agapéd Bearer—the possessor of the most powerful magic in existence. Her journey as a Kingdom Hunter and phantasmal flame wielder has begun on planet Kalm, but something bigger has taken precedence: love. Lisa is falling for her best friend, Caelum, only his father is King… and he does not approve.
As Lisa begins her final Hunter exam, the Dawning, love drives her and Prince Caelum down a road of family strife, where they collide with a band of brokenhearted brothers in need of the Agapéd’s help. Lisa hopes that if they can put aside their differences to rid the brothers’ land of monsters, the King will gain new allies and see how well she and Caelum work together.
But dark magic stirs in the shadows. Now, a simple Hunter quest turns into a war fueled on hidden secrets and a royal grudge… and Lisa is in the eye of the starblooded storm.
Hannah Lindsey is the author of the Agapéd Bearer Saga, a YA coming-of-age fantasy with a wonderful mentor/mentee, the chosen one, and found family trope. And of course, tons of magic.
Hannah also illustrates her story and characters, showcasing her artwork on Instagram (@hmnnah.art) and on her website hmnnahart.com.
She lives with her husband in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.
WISHING STARS (book 1) and PARAGON GAMES (book 2) is out now!
Umm, this was good. Like stop everything you’re doing and only read this book for 3 days kinda good. Worth getting a reading migraine and all.
This book was even BETTER than the previous two, and I loved those ones. I don’t know how Lindsey does it, but these stories are top tier. My heart is so happy and also a little saddened, but bittersweet endings are my favorite. I love these characters 🥲
I now have a new favorite book! ALSO, the cover 😍😍 reminds me of Tears of the Kingdom!
EAGERLY awaiting book 4!
Content: Some blood and dismemberment from battles
I went into Hunter Wars, the third installment of The Agapéd Bearer series, with genuine excitement. After being enchanted by Hannah Lindsey’s illustrations on Instagram and moved by the character arcs in the previous books, I was eager to return to Lindsey’s world, especially given how intense and emotionally loaded this next chapter promised to be.
And from a storytelling standpoint alone, Hunter Wars absolutely delivers. The plot is by far the most engaging and high-stakes of the trilogy so far. The dramatic tension is palpable, the emotional arcs cut deeper, and new characters and revelations bring an undeniable richness to the world of the Agapéd Bearer. I especially appreciated the way Lindsey portrayed Lisa’s evolving identity and emotional landscape. From her experience navigating early womanhood to the raw inner conflict about how she’s perceived by others. These moments are written with sincerity and care. Many young women will find something painfully familiar and moving in Lisa’s insecurities and her attempt to reconcile inner strength with outward vulnerability.
The romance between Lisa and Prince Cal, which began quietly in The Paragon Games, fully blossoms here. And it does so in a way that feels deeply earned. Their relationship is tender, slow-burning, and refreshingly gentle. In a literary landscape where so many fantasy romances are built on dominance, snark, or instant gratification, their dynamic feels like a return to the emotional purity of a first love. It’s understated but emotionally resonant, and I found myself genuinely rooting for them.
Likewise, the stakes in this book are finally visceral — life, death, loyalty, betrayal. The plot has teeth. It makes the thematic heart of the series (compassion versus control, vulnerability versus violence) feel more real than ever. And that’s why it’s especially frustrating to admit that Hunter Wars, for all its narrative power, is weighed down (sometimes severely) by the very same issues that hindered the previous two entries.
Hannah Lindsey has an undeniable gift for evocative imagery. Her settings feel textured, tangible, almost sensorial. You don’t just read about this world — you smell it, hear it, taste it. However, this vividness often crosses a line into over-description, where even the simplest of scenes are slowed to a crawl by an avalanche of detail.
Let me give you an example:
“So,” Cal began, doubt scrambling out of his mouth. “You’re saying Gaius got an old woman to teach you?” “A hero,” I gingerly corrected, raising my eyebrows and facing him. “Why would you think Gaius wouldn’t want someone like her to teach me?” Even tough that's exactly what happend. Cal crossed his arms, the leather from his jacket squeaking.
This short exchange is illustrative of a recurring issue. Nearly every line of dialogue is accompanied by a cascade of unnecessary action or interpretation: raised eyebrows, physical shifts, internal commentary, sensory cues. When used sparingly, such description can bring scenes to life. But when it’s applied relentlessly, especially to characters and relationships we already understand, it slows the narrative and undermines its emotional impact.
In earlier books, this was a quirk. Here, it’s a genuine obstacle to immersion. Dialogue rarely flows naturally. Every sentence is interrupted, reinterpreted, or overexplained. Instead of experiencing the moment, the reader is constantly told how to feel, what to see, and what to think. The prose doesn’t trust us to follow — it insists on guiding every step.
It’s not just about how things are described, but how much is described. Lindsey has a clear and personal vision, likely sharpened by her dual role as both author and illustrator of her own series. And while her artistic control brings visual and thematic cohesion to the books, it also creates a lack of distance. The writing feels emotionally overinvested in its own execution, as though no image can be left to interpretation, and no emotional beat left unexplained.
One of the subtler (but most significant) issues with Hunter Wars is that, in its attempt to control every visual and emotional detail, it begins to blur the line between novel and film script. What makes reading fiction so powerful is the freedom it gives the reader to imagine, to infer, and to build parts of the world themselves. Books allow space. They offer trust.
But here, that trust often feels absent. The reader isn’t just invited into Lisa’s world — they're marched through it with a constant explanatory voice. Every facial expression, every shift in posture, every emotional nuance is pre-labeled, described, and interpreted before the reader even has a chance to breathe. In many places, it feels less like reading a scene and more like reading a director’s annotated screenplay, down to the lighting cues and emotional beats.
This is especially striking given that Hannah Lindsey is also the visual artist behind her series. And while her dual vision as author and illustrator creates an impressive cohesion, it also narrows the interpretive space. There’s no ambiguity, no silence, no invitation to wonder — only instruction. As a result, the reader's imagination is not activated but managed, even micromanaged.
This isn’t a matter of preference between sparse and lyrical prose, it’s about medium fidelity. Books are not films. They don’t need to dictate the camera angle. And when they try to, they risk losing what makes them uniquely immersive: the collaborative dance between writer and reader.
There are moments where the writing reaches for creative metaphors that don’t quite land; lines like “My mouth was olive-shaped” (at one point it is also described as "pea-shaped") or “doubt scrambling out of his mouth” which feel more distracting than poetic. These expressions, while clearly striving for originality, often pull the reader out of the scene rather than pulling them deeper in.
A skilled editor could have mitigated much of this. It’s clear that the book could benefit from someone willing to say: This line isn’t necessary. This moment would be stronger if left unsaid. Let the reader breathe. But in self-publishing, the author chooses their editorial team and (perhaps understandably), those closest to Lindsay have hesitated to push back too strongly. Artistic vulnerability is real. But so is the reader’s experience.
Given the title Hunter Wars, it’s striking how long it takes for the actual “war” or structured conflict to arrive. Nearly the entire first half of the book is spent in setup. Arich, emotional, immersive setup, yes, but setup nonetheless. In a book this long, that’s an issue.
A tighter, more deliberate narrative structure, one with a clearer arc and a trimmed-down descriptive style, would have allowed the drama to shine more brightly. The events themselves are gripping. The emotional beats are powerful. But the weight of the language often keeps them from landing with full force.
At the heart of Hunter Wars is a story worth telling — a story full of courage, longing, discovery, and love. Lisa remains a compelling protagonist, and Lindsay’s world continues to feel both magical and deeply personal. The book’s core is strong, and its themes are meaningful.
But that strength is consistently buried beneath stylistic excess. Lindsey’s dedication to her world is admirable, but she must begin to trust her readers more, to let them interpret, to let them imagine, and to let them feel without constant guidance. There’s a difference between immersive writing and micromanagement, and Hunter Wars too often falls into the latter.
I remain invested in the series and admire Lindsay’s ambition. But I also hope that future entries will show a more restrained, confident pen—one that trusts that sometimes, less is more, and that the beauty of a story lies not only in how it is told, but in what it allows the reader to find for themselves.
THIS BOOK! Oh my stars. This book was PERFECT! The wait was so worth it.
I loved everything about this book. The characters, world-building, and magic! There’s just so much to love.
Lisa is the sweetest. Always willing and ready to help. And she’s grown up so much since the first book 🥺 the father daughter relationship between Gaius and Lisa is so sweet to read about. I love how protective Gaius is of Lisa. Cal is definitely one of my favorites. And I really enjoyed reading more about the kingdom of Boolavogue and the Sonons.
The battles are so epic. And I really appreciate the good vs evil aspect you find in this series. And that the bad guys are actually bad.
Everyone knows the best feeling, when reading is getting lost in the book. Well every single book so far in this series has done that for me. You get so invested into the amazing world Mrs. Hannah Lindsey created and her awesome characters. I mean the space cowboys!? 🙂↕️
But also the emotions you feel!!!! First I’m super happy because something exciting finally happened. Then I’m almost crying 😭…I wasn’t prepared 🥺
Anyway…this book was a masterpiece and definitely one of my favorite books of the year. Now I just have to wait for book #4 and I’m already super stoked!
And if you get the chance check out Mrs. Hannah’s instagram. She draws art from her books and it’s so cool!! 🥹
This book gave me "all the feels" as they say. It really pulled on my heartstrings and even made my tear up a bit. Loved it and can't wait for the next book!
I was given the amazing opportunity to be able to Beta Read for the third book in this amazing series and I was not disappointed! Hannah has done it again. She continues to amaze me with her world building and the overall development of her characters, old and new. The third installment of the Agape Bearer series is action-packed and has moments that bring you to tears. In Hunter Wars, we are able to dive deeper and uncover stories of Lisa’s training as a Hunter outside of her magic training. We are regaled with stories of old characters along with some new ones such as a feisty, spitfire grandmother figure that makes an appearance and plays a vital role in Lisa’s character development and training. If you’re looking for a story world filled with action, magic, budding romance, with a little side of tears, then you NEED to read this book or start the series if you haven’t yet. Grab a cozy blanket, some tissues, and order the series if you haven’t already and GET TO READING! You won’t regret it☺️ I cannot wait for the next installment and where Hannah takes the story next. If you couldn’t tell by everything I’ve said above, I HIGHLY recommend this book series, because you will simply fall in love with it and its characters.
When it's a constant struggle between 'one more chapter' and 'I want to enjoy it as long as I can', then you know you have a great book. Every book in this series keeps on getting better and better and I can't wait for number four.
This series 😭 I love it so much. And I’m terrified for the next book because the stakes just keep getting higher. (Also I need more people to read these books, please and thank you, I need people to scream with 😂)
I. Adored. Everything. If you are wavering whether to read this series , this is your sign to finish the series for this book alone!!!!
I was an ARC reader for this series, my first time being an ARC reader for any book series, and I absolutely LOVED this book. The first book had a lot of world-building and took a while to get to the action, but this book—wow. Lindsey improved so much as a writer, which is refreshing because I have read books that decline in style, vocabulary, and grammar. Lindsey writes with such emotion, and I love that.
SHORT SUMMARY Lisa is on her way to being a Hunter for Boolavogue and unintentionally goes on a journey to explore different types of love (as the author explained on her Instagram page), and it was refreshing to see not just romance but broken families reunited, a tender husband and wife love, friendship, and the love for a kingdom. This book dives more into the Sonon family—and the Queen's backstory about her and Bolthor was amazing!
FAV MOMENTS The blossoming love between Cal and Lisa was so cute and perfect! And the kiss scene was just the sweetest moment ever✨ It gave me the first-crush feels all over again.
Gaius—oh, the moment with him and Lisa on the train ride had me all bundled up in my bed. I didn't think their bond could get any better... until the end of the book when . I was crying on my kindle🤧!
The final battle. OKAY—it was epic. And the Caelum POV. AH! I wish I could reread it all over again for the first time.😭
I'd give this book 6 stars if I could. Lindsey said this was her favorite book in the series so far, and I can see why. She is growing as an author, and I am SUPER DUPER excited to see what happens in the next book!!!!!!
Hannah Lindsey strikes again! The Agapéd Bearer series just keeps getting better and better with each book. If you haven’t already, go read the first two in this series. You won’t regret it.
This book is filled with magical cowboys, flying magical horses, Hunters, phantasmal flames, a kickbutt retired Hero grandma, magical water buffalo and other new good magic creatures, behemoths, intense fight scenes, budding romance, a ball, and tender moments.
As usual in this series, I laughed. I cried. I sat on the edge of my seat while chewing my nails. The storyline is so so good. Lisa finally gaining a flame mentor, a mystery of disappearing people/Hunters, a land suddenly without rain, and Boolavogue being challenged. So many things happening and challenging our sweet Lisa.
I love the character development of Lisa and Cal, and their relationship. Growing into their own as Hunters and the Agapéd/Prince. Not only do we get to see more of the other faces we know and love, but there’s so many new characters to love! Lipa has an extra special place in my heart. I love her strength, stubbornness, and unshakable love and hope.
I just don’t have the words to express how good this series is. It is one you don’t want to miss! I will never stop recommending this series to everyone. 💜💚💙
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Triggers: there is fighting, wounds, and death, but nothing super gory.
Her previous books are emotional, action packed, developed wonderfully, and HW continues this trend and even exceeds it!
The Agaped Bearer: Hunter Wars is FULL of awesome character growth shown through different trials that all the characters experience.
There’s magical training (with a baddie grandma lady whom I adore with my whole heart), there’s budding romance, CRAZY and DETAILED action scenes, angst, cozy moments, and of course, magical cowboys. What more could you want?
These new characters that Hannah introduces in HW are just AWESOME y’all. They are so charming and well fleshed out despite being side characters. You will love these magical wranglers.
Once again, Hannah is such a talented writer who knows how to give each and every character their own voice. I am never bored when I read one of her books, and I guarantee you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole time.
So grab your tissues, your favorite drink or snack, turn on your fantasy ambience playlists, and settle down to read this exciting and amazing third installment in the Agaped Bearer Saga⚔️🌱⭐️
This third installment of The Agapéd Bearer saga, Hunter Wars follows Lisa Robbie as she's learning about a new ability she unlocked in the previous installment, as well as exploring romance, friendship troubles, new lands, and other new challenges and milestones! I was in love with Lisa throughout, growing and learning, and allowed to make big mistakes. The magic and the action were just as vivid as ever, with new creative techniques being used throughout. I enjoyed the expansion of the world with a new continent as well as new conflict. Of the new characters, I admired Lipa the most, she reminded me of a Texan rancher with the accent in the audiobook, and she was stubborn and determined in a good way. The returning characters were great as well, with Gaius and Cal always being highlights, with Lisa having to deal with romantic feelings with Cal. The great pacing kept me engaged and the epic climax and dramatic conclusion had me shook a bit, making me think of all the changes that will be coming in the next installment and where Lisa's journey will go next!
I enjoyed Emily Turtle's narration; it has the youthful curiosity and enthusiasm of Lisa wrapped up in a bow, and I enjoyed Cal's narrator, Stephen Reyes in his section.
Overall, an enjoyable and engaging ride from start to finish! Highly recommended if you like portal fantasy coming of age epics!
*I received a review copy from the author. All opinions are my own.*
You're not ready for how great this series is, y'all 😭❤️ . 🌶️ Clean, emphasis on the emotions, kisses only 💬 Mild, "crap" and invented cuss words ❗Death, blood, violence, severe injuries, abandonment (in the past, but characters still deal with it in the present), loss of a loved one, grief . My thoughts: I. AM. SPEECHLESS!!! 😍😍😍 This story, these characters, they are everything!!! While a good portion of the book is "just" a prep for what's coming, slow paced and without much external stuff going on, I loved every minute of internal conflict we got! 😍 All those pure, hearwarming moments between the main characters? I just about melted from love overload! 🥹❤️❤️❤️ And when the action started - man, it did NOT slow down 'till the very end, breaking my heart over and over again 💔 Just like the first book in the series, Hunter Wars managed to bring me to tears! 😭😭😭 And I'm not even an emotional reader, wearing poker face most of the time. Welp, not this time 😭 I laughed, I rejoiced, I cried and I grieved, devouring this book as fast as possible! I LOVED IT SO MUCH and I can't wait to start another one! I know it will be just as, if not more, awesome and heartbreaking as HW! 😭🫶
Oh my heart!!! 😢😢 This book was absolutely fantastic! I cannot get over how beautifully the story flowed and how many pieces tied together. The beauty and wonder of sacrificial love was evident throughout. I’m falling more and more in love with Lindsey’s writing and the world of TAB with each of the books I read. I don’t know if my heart is ready for book 4 but I also know I can’t bear to be long away from this world now that I’ve discovered it. I don’t know how I’ll manage until book 5! ❤️🩹
Also, the number of sweet Gaius and Lisa moments were precious. And Lisa and Cal make me so happy! Tuff is of course an endless delight.
I could not put this book down such amazing character development and plot building in ways I hadn’t seen before unbelievably amazing I wish there was more would recommend
WOW! Hats off to Hannah Lindsey, every time she releases a book in this series, I think to myself “the next book couldn't possibly be any better” and yet again, she has proven me wrong. Dare I say that “Hunter Wars” has become my favorite book in the series so far (although i suppose this may likely change when the next book is released). It was enthralling to read from start to finish. For those who have read the past two books and whose hearts are already familiar with the phenomenal story of our beloved Lisa Rae Robbie, our little girl continues to grow and i could not be more proud of her. We get to meet a new family of cowboys and oh boy is Lisa's adventure with them so thrilling and heartwarming, simultaneously, we get to see her relationship with Cal continue to blossom and we also get a completely new look at the Sonon family. I cannot overstate how good this book is! Hunter wars explores several different aspects and types of love and I swear, the author, Hannah Taylor Lindsey, has a such a way with words, Its purely magical how she manages to encapsulate and describe such complex emotions. I must admit that her writing made me cry at several moments in the book, it is so unbelievably beautiful.
Seriously, if i could, i would give this 6 out of 5 stars, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK, in fact if you haven't already please read the whole "Agapéd Bearer" series, it is impossible not to enjoy!
Okay I really like this series. The world and the magic is whimsical, the characters are quirky, and the romance is cutesy. It’s obviously very YA, so I think I judge it maybe too harshly, so I sure hope no one takes my opinion too seriously (lol assuming anyone cares about my opinion anyways).
That being said…Giaus is burly and Lisa is pale. WE. GET. IT. A reminder every chapter for 58 chapters is just a little excessive. Also I know Giaus is supposed to be like a hot dad, but reading some of the main characters descriptions of him feel pretty awkward being that he’s supposed to be a father figure. Like I’d never describe my own dad as chiseled and get overly descriptive about his muscles and tight clothes even though he lifted weights my whole life. Idk something about it feels weird.
And for the pacing…I think 80% world building and 20% plot worked really well for book 1 because there was SO much to learn about, and book 2 really got away from that in the best way, but book 3 is literally called “Hunter Wars” and the war lasts for 1 hour and only happens from 80%-90% of the book. The first 80% of the book was supposed to be build up, but it was honestly just too disconnected to work. I get that people were going missing throughout the entire book, but it was too glossed over way too fast and other less important aspects like training, prom, and magical water buffalo took priority. We heard more about magical buffalo than we did the actual war.
YAYYYY I FINISHEDDD. Y’all. This book is perfection. I don’t know how. The characters are so deep and lovable, well, most of them lol. I love how cal and Lisa’s relationship has some difficulties, but they still get to connect and spend time together. The 2 month dawning came in handy. Omygoodness the end tho.😰i was worried. The death was sad! And they just started being friends too🥺I’m so sad for the family, but I’m so excited to see them grow and lead together again. Lisa and cal, they’re too cute. And I can’t wait for their wedding. Litteraly let’s gooooo. But I need some cute dating moments first pls. I’m obsessed with them. I think I’ve said this before, but all the fantasy and magic is so beautiful and child like, that it’s healing. It’s so wholesome and every chapter is rich and beautiful. Wonderful job Hannah💫🌱💜

I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for Hunter Wars before its release the fall and let me tell you, I am so thankful I didn’t have to wait for this story!
This is by far my favorite book of the Agapéd Bearer Saga; each book is better than the last and Hannah Lindsey is 3 for 3 on making me cry while reading her books (note: I never cry when reading). The emotion is so well portrayed that I cannot help but become a teary-eyed mess!
If you love fantasy, magic, romance, fun family dynamics, touching moments, and the best kind of emotional roller coaster, then I would 100% recommend the book/series.
Come September, do not walk… RUN and get this book!
This book is soooooooooooooo good! I loved every bit of it!! I highly reccomend it to everyone! Please go read this!!! Hannah Lindsey is such an incredible writer. The way she weaves funny, sweet, intense, and adorable moments into her book is the bestest!! GO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
Review of The Agaped Bearer: Hunter Wars An immersive triumph of character, world, and mythos
“Hunters are meant to slay monsters, but when a man rejects his soul, a beast he becomes.” This single line distills the emotional and philosophical gravity of The Agaped Bearer: Hunter Wars—a series that has not only exceeded my expectations but reignited a level of investment in fictional characters I haven’t felt in years.
From the earliest chapters, it’s clear the author has grown tremendously in craft. Each book builds upon the last with increasing confidence—layering emotional nuance, moral ambiguity, and tightly interwoven character arcs in a world that is as brutal as it is beautiful. The evolution of the writing itself is worth noting: early pacing missteps and stylistic inconsistencies have given way to a more assured voice, richer prose, and sharper dialogue. What once hinted at potential now fully delivers.
Worldbuilding and Setting
The world of Hunter Wars is textured and mythic, yet grounded in emotional and ethical realism. What’s especially remarkable is how the setting functions not merely as a backdrop, but as an active participant in the story. Each region, tradition, and conflict pulses with thematic intent—exploring questions of identity, sovereignty, sacrifice, and what it means to be both hunter and hunted.
The supernatural elements never feel overindulgent or derivative; instead, they grow organically from the lore and character motivations. Magic here is not just spectacle—it’s symbolic. It reflects internal wounds and collective traumas, and it challenges the protagonists at existential levels.
Character Development
The depth of the main characters is one of the series’ greatest strengths. Few stories manage to portray character growth that feels both hard-earned and deeply human. The emotional journey of the protagonist—from reluctant participant to someone shaped by grief, duty, and love—echoes the best of character-driven epics.
Relationships are treated with complexity: alliances fracture and heal, betrayals have weight, and love is not an easy redemption but a costly, vulnerable choice. The intimacy between characters, both romantic and platonic, is never tokenized. It feels lived-in and raw.
Themes and Literary Merit
At its core, The Agaped Bearer is a meditation on the soul. The narrative constantly returns to the idea of what it means to preserve one’s humanity in the face of monstrosity—literal and figurative. The hunter-becomes-beast motif is echoed in nearly every subplot, inviting readers to consider the ethical toll of war, vengeance, and power.
There are strong threads of existentialism and classical tragedy woven through the fantasy fabric. The author is clearly influenced by both myth and modern psychological realism. This creates a rare alchemy: a story that is as thrilling as it is intellectually and emotionally rich.
Growth Points and Opportunities
Though the series now stands confidently in its mythic shoes, some earlier entries would have benefited from tighter editing—particularly with pacing and exposition. Side characters, while intriguing, occasionally fall into archetypal patterns and could be fleshed out further in future installments. There’s also room to explore more diverse cultural or linguistic lenses within the world’s societies, which would further enrich an already layered setting.
Final Thoughts
As an avid reader, I cannot recommend The Agaped Bearer: Hunter Wars highly enough. It stands as a luminous example of what the fantasy genre can achieve when heart, intellect, and craft converge. It is a series that doesn’t just entertain—it haunts, questions, and lingers.
If you’re searching for a story that refuses to play it safe, that digs deep into the moral and emotional marrow of its characters, this is your next obsession.
The third book of The Agapéd Bearer saga, Hunter Wars, left me utterly captivated. As an ARC reader, I had the privilege of following Lisa’s journey before the official release, and now I’m eagerly awaiting the fourth book (fingers crossed it comes soon!🤞😁).
If I had to sum up this book in two words, they would be hope and belief. These themes flowed through every chapter, and I found myself deeply connected to the story on a personal level. What I love most about this saga is that each book stirs different emotions, revealing new facets of the characters and their world. Hunter Wars was no exception.
While the second book, Paragon Games, was a heart-pounding adventure filled with action, Hunter Wars brings us back to a more emotional journey. The depth of relationships—family, friends, lovers—takes center stage, and it’s explored in such an intense and beautifully heartfelt way. There were moments that brought me to tears, not only from sadness but also from pure joy. The emotional weight of this book is profound, and it moved me deeply.
This installment strikes a perfect balance between Lisa’s personal growth, her evolving skills, and her mission. The story seamlessly weaves together her coming-of-age challenges with heartwarming and heart-wrenching moments. Characters, both familiar and new, are masterfully developed, and I found myself growing even more attached to them. Hannah’s ability to craft such well-rounded, lovable characters never ceases to amaze me.
What stood out most is how the story has matured. As Lisa grows, so too does the narrative, offering insights into real-life situations from fresh perspectives. This book will undoubtedly resonate with readers, inspiring reflection and deeper understanding of the complexities of relationships and personal challenges.
Hannah’s growth as a storyteller is evident with each new release. She expertly captures the essence of her characters' journeys, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the world she’s built. For me, and I believe for many others, this third book offers a truly enriching experience.
I highly recommend The Agapéd Bearer saga to anyone looking for a story that not only captivates with its adventure but also leaves you reflecting long after the last page. Lisa’s journey is one you’ll want to follow closely—and trust me, you won’t be able to wait for the next chapter.
Hannah Taylor Lindsey, THANK YOU for the Agapéd Bearer! I’m beyond excited and can’t wait for the next release! 🌠💜
Hunter Wars... I'll be honest, I haven't even written a review for Paragon Games yet, though I will have to do that soon, but this one was just... So. Much. Happened. Woah. Honestly, I'm not sure where to even start. It's been a few days since I've finished this and I forget things easily. So, I'll start with the mentors for Lisa's fire magic. Gaius took a full year to find the right person to do it, and then it turns out they WEREN'T the right people, and they were awful.... -honestly, Hannah writes such bad characters, and she does it so well. I mean, the villain in Paragon Games? AWFUL- So instead, they find this Lipa LaRue character, and she is awesome. She's hilarious. I started laughing out loud when she thought they were there for Gaius! It was so funny!!!! She is such an important character to this book, the mystery that came with her and the Hunters, and the actions that came along with it was just so good, I was entertained the whole time. Before I continue, lemme take a moment to appreciate... the HUNTER BALL. Ah, this was an amazing moment, I loved it. But when the king came... Look, I was never a huge fan of the king, but I never disLIKED him... until he was unhappy with Lisa, but then that ending... I couldn't hate him. I mean, he trusted her to protect the love of his life and his daughter, and then, and then... I can't stay mad him. I am a little annoyed for his previous actions, though. I mean, he was getting in the way of something utterly PERFECT. Anyways, the action at the end with the hidden place, and then the emership taking them to the kingdom, and then the confrontation and the SPAR and then the next ten -actually FIVE- days... It was heartbreaking. Those three people who were named... They weren't my favorite characters of course, but... what? What? Why? Just why? What was the point??? And then everything Cal's family had/has to go through... Oh, and that magic between Cal and Lisa... that was so amazing!! I love them! Eek! Easily a five-star book, all three of them have been so far, and I can't wait for the fourth one, it's gonna be so good and I already know it's gonna be an emotional rollercoaster I'm gonna have to buckle up for... Hannah Lindsey is an amazing author, definitely read her books if you can, and her art is ALSO amazing, and I love each and every drawing she does, they are flawless (You can find them on her Instagram account)! This book had no language and no inappropriate scenes. Trigger Warnings: Death, burns, war. (Maybe some others, but I can't remember. I'm sorry.)
But I’ll start with this: Hannah, you are absolutely killing it and I am already SOOOOOO ready for the next book!!! Congrats on this third book — and thank you for bestowing the honor of letting me read the eARC!!
BUT YEAH. THIS BOOK WAS WILD!!
The angst (such a whirlwind). The adventure (roller coasters galore). The new romance (I…you’ll just have to wait and see). The sorrow (again, not gonna say anything — you’ll know when you need tissues). The lore (like WOAH). Not to mention the teenagery fifteen/sixteen year old amazingness of learning to be yourself and fighting for those you love…it was all here and was so wonderfully done!!
The books kept up with the vibes of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Percy Jackson, but it had the soft moments of the early Gilmore Girls episodes (let’s go, Odette Robbie for being one of best fictional mothers out there — you deserve the world) and just warmth of the awesomeness of found-family (I.e. every special, heartwarming moment with our fav gardener and with some new and SUCH cool friends you meet along the way). Lisa’s new adventure kept me on my toes, and cheering with each turn of the page!!
Also. A certain prince’s younger sister stole the spotlight and is one of my fav parts of the book (again, you’ll understand when you read HAHA)
Anyways, there are SOOOOOO many things I could say about this book but I want to keep it spoiler free while praising it as best I can!
So again, AMAZING JOB, HANNAH!!! And to the future readers of this amazing installment of Lisa Robbie’s next adventure: buckle up and enjoy!
𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖: Ladies and gents and nonbinary bananas, this is now my new favorite book. I'm not kidding I am still hung over on it. Like, it feels like it's so hard to find a series in which each new installment just gets better and better and yet HANNAH TAYLOR LINDSEY OVER HERE is doing that like it's FREAKING NOTHING?!?!?! The world continues to grow and we get to navigate the various relationships and the various meanings of love -- familial, romantic, etc. We get to see Lisa continue to grow and change and make mistakes and learn. We get to learn more about Gaius and the Sonons and we get to see that past actions have consequences, whether they are good or bad. This book was a fever dream reading. I spent the entire weekend sat and reading this book and it genuinely kept me guessing -- it's been so long since a book has done that.
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: I would have loved to see more Cal but that's just me loving him and his relationship with Lisa -- they are so besties-to-lovers core and def have some sort of secret handshake. But genuinely, I would love to see more of the little moments in Lisa's relationships with Gaius and Cal like she has with Odette -- a semblance of domestic bliss and silly training routine just to see the everyday dynamic when Lisa's not constantly in a state of near death. Show girl just a smidge of mercy PLEASE--
but Hannah, all seriousness, I'm proud of Lisa and I'm proud of you. This was genuinely my favorite read thus far. All my love to yah :)
First, I'm not that great at writing reviews and getting my thoughts out there coherently lol, but I'm going to try my best okay😅
This is the 3rd book in this series and is easily my favorite! 10/10. Everytime I assumed what would happen next, Hannah turned it around into something I didn't expect and wholeheartedly enjoyed!
Having said that......I dont think she bothered to kiss the brick before chucking it at my face with the ending she wrote😭😭
The cover of the book is rather emotional so I was waiting for it to "click" with the story, y'know? Unfortunately the wholesome aspects of this book were to grand and amazing and I was roped into a false sense of security🫠🥲
I loved how much this story took its time. (Even when I got a smidgen impatient for Cal to show up lol) it really showed and fleshed new and old characters out and they all felt very real. Guias calling Lisa "Baby Sprig"??? Absolutely obsessed. He's the best character ever!🥹😭
The LaRue family was written so nicely and felt so accurate i even heard their accents in my head!(sometimes its hard for me to visualize that stuff)
And Lisa and Cal scenes are one of my favorite parts! (Not including Guias and Lisa of course lol) Their relationship was so fun to read and it wasn't overrun with instant gratification, miscommunication or excessive drama.
I tend to be a slow reader but I genuinely could not put this book down and finished it in under a week! Cant wait till I get my hands on the next one and hope it doesn't utterly destroy me emotionally 🤣
I don’t know how Hannah does it, but she effortlessly strings together beautiful worlds, family dynamics, and love in the purest forms. This third book in the series only left me wanting more. I cannot wait for book four.
Hunter Wars introduced new struggles for the main character, tackling topics like self-worth and grief. We see powerful scenes of healing, and heartwarming moments where family is portrayed in the perfect way. With the effortless flow of the story, it was hard not to get lost in it.
I sobbed. I laughed HARD. And I felt my heart brim with light. This shows the battle between Light and Dark is an ongoing battle, but never impossible for Light to win. The stakes are high and met to the full, and all those nostalgic feelings gush from the sweet, pure moments between characters.
So many new characters were introduced in this book and I adore every single one, while also developing a deeper love for the original characters.
I can’t recommend this series enough. The moment you pick up book one you won’t be able to let go of this story of growth, love, power, magic, and light.
This book!! I honestly don’t have the words to express how amazing this book was.
The writing reminds me why I fell in love with reading. It truly takes you into another world.
The characters felt incredibly real, with unique personalities and arcs that kept me invested from beginning to end. Lisa’s journey (as always) was full of surprises, and personal growth that was beautifully paced. Not to mention, the tension and action scenes had my heart racing.
Overall, this book is an absolute must-read for any fantasy fan, and it left me wanting more. If you love immersive world-building, complex characters, and an adventure that takes you on a wild ride, this book will not disappoint.
Be warned, you will squeal and blush at innocent first crush romance, cry during heartwarming “father/daughter” moments, and laugh at a young sassy princesses antics. (I definitely need more of Celine in book 4!)
“Let’s dye it, then. What color do you want it to be?” -Odette Lisa's mom is just so kind with such a can do attitude. Yes, you can dye your prom dress or do whatever you want to it. “Listen… which one of these problems can you fix right now?” ^good life advice.
This book had a few more chapters on Earth which was a tone of fun to read! Lisa and Cal are off on an adventure and there are more magical animals and more characters to meet! I like that there are so many mentors, we don't get our knowledge from one person unconditionally, there are so many people that help guide us in life when we are young.
"My glainie vanished instantly, leaving Gaius on his own. " ^Tuff gets sassy!
He is growing up into a big and bold sprite, doing cute things and being so brave!
